For the GWS v Swans game, there was some real promising signs for the rookies that were playing.
These 4 Swans rookies had some decent scores and is looking that some will surely make a debut Rd 1
Warner 89, 70% TOG
Campbell 85, 80% TOG
Gulden 77, 81% TOG
Mcdonald 61, 46% TOG
Mcdonald only played the second half but scoring 61 points and with Franklin missing Rd 1 already stated, this helps open the door for him to start. What thoughts does that cause for Heeney? Does that give him more midfield time or is he still more forward to help cover Buddy?
For the GWS rookies
Bruhn 62, 82% TOG
Briggs 81, 75% TOG
Bruhn kicking 4 goals 1 and Briggs holding his own against Hickey and Reid in the ruck. Still talks on Flynn putting his name up for round 1 even though he didn’t play, so that ruck position is wide open
“They’re both going to play a lot of senior footy this year”
Nick Haynes on Jack Buckley on Connor Idun
Crae and Bont doing Crae and Bont things
Half time at the Dogs v Dees game and the Dogs mids are absolutely on fire! Bont already cracked the tonne with 106 and then Libba, Dunkley, Macrae and Daniel on 81,73,74 and 69.
Keep note that the Dees midfield is not stacked with no Oliver or Brayshaw. So this would be helping them score easier
Gawn doing his normal thing scoring 69 at half but Petracca not on fire only with 36. Harmes not any better with 30, but it must be considered how they’d go when it gets serious and their better players return
No Viney either for the Dee’s. So three of their normal mid-rotation missing. Something to consider re: Harmes.
Also for the centre bounces today, Dogs only using 4 players in the first half, being those 4 common players of Bont Macrae Libba and Dunkley
Reminder Treloar not in the team so that’s another to be added come round 1
Adam Treloar played 2 and 1/2 quarters of planned minutes in VFL, 20 disposals. On track for R1.

That clears everything up. I know exactly who to pick. 🙂
Hayden Crozier left shoulder knock third quarter. Subbed out early last quarter. iced up.
May not looking good after copping a head knock in the last quarter. If it is concussion then he misses round 1
Just confirmed from Stevo on channel 7 news that he is not concussed and it was a heavy knock, so currently still on track to play Round 1
And it is confirmed Williams out for a week
https://twitter.com/AFL/status/1368816049014022148?s=19
Ed Langdon doing the same as last year and could be a potential POD. 26 disposals with 88 SC points. May not seem like much but when their midfield was lacking and they were not getting the clearances, he wasn’t getting as much of the ball.
He plays as a winger and plays almost 100% game time every week. With this new on the mark rule, this may allow for more sideways play into the centre of the ground, potentially bringing him more into play.
1 thing that held him back last season was he would play hit and miss quarters. Racking up 10+ one quarter but then only 2-3 the next. He had 4 games of 120+ last year but every other game was 90-70 with 2 60’s. If he can bring up that base he’d be a great POD.
Priced at 487,300 does seem like a lot but he could break out as he has shown he gets the ball, just needs to score better from it.
Some huge scores from Bont, MacRae and dunks but not going to read too much into it. Treloar will slot Back in the engine room he played VFL and got through well. Once treloars back what is Mr magnets plans? Melbourne were also Brayshawless and oliverless so the dogs cleared it as they pleased for most parts
Bailey Smith and Lachie Hunter got basically no runs in the centre either. Add Wallis to that too. Surely those will get more midfield time, otherwise I’d be quite surprised if they didn’t
Brisbane – Gold Coast
Brisbane Rookies –
Connor Ballenden $146.1k FWD
Tom Fullarton $128.9k RUC/FWD
James Madden $123.9k DEF/FWD
Harry Sharp $117.3k DEF/MID
Gold Coast Rookies ?
Does anyone have a SuperCoach stats website that works live? Fanfooty is my go-to but has barely worked all weekend.
Not sure if you’re a Twitter man, but if you follow fan footy they have links to the live scores that take you straight there. I was also having trouble going directly to their website
Footy Info app is great.
Thanks daisy, it still won’t get through even with those links unfortunately. Website must be struggling with foot traffic for the first time in 5 months!
Only 10 minutes into the game and it is showing that when McInerney comes off the field Daniher goes into the ruck.
Fagan stating that Zac Bailey will get more inside mid time this season. 420k fwd/MID could become a great POD
Who would get less time though?
Just hearing commentary that is seems that Lyons was spending more time on the outside to allow more inside time for Rayner/Bailey.
Will be interesting to see how Lyons/Bailey score now Rayner out injured and looks to be for a while
Rayner down in massive pain for his right knee. This could maybe be a real long term injury which is not what you want to see.
And it is almost the stretcher, but hobbled off and can put weight on it
Cameron Rayner knee injury
If rowell plays a solid second half, does he become a lock???
He is even if he gets subbed out. I’d go as far as to say if you’re not starting him you’re not playing the game correctly!
Can’t have em all Daisy. If I bring in Rowell, who would you suggest I drop of Bont, Neale, Satan, Zerrett Danger, or Steele ?
Become? Mate Rowell was a lock from the moment he was born
Scores at half time
Suns:
Witts 65
Weller 63
Rowell 60
Budarick 59

Lukosius 29
Lions:
Bailey 58
Berry 49

Zorko 28
Fullarton 27
Daniher 26
Neale 25
Lyons 5
Lions back to their normal midfield and Neale up to 82 sc points in that 3rd quarter with 13 disposals
I think so, hes only had 68% TOG aswell.
Brisbane : 18.9.117 def. Gold Coast : 13.11.89
Berry 114, Cameron 106, Zorko 105, Neale 101, Wil Powell 103, Jarrod Witts 103, Rich 96, Rowell 91, Brodie 90, Bailey 89, Greenwood 75, Fullarton 65, Daniher 62 and, Lukosius 61, Lyons 49.
CBA’s – Rowell 23, Anderson 17, Greenwood 16, and Brodie 15. Neale 28, Lyons 16, and Berry, McCarthy and McCluggage 11.
Brisbane Rookies –
Tom Fullarton 65, 3 hit outs 8 possessions 1 tackle 2 clangers. 87 % Disposal efficiency 80% tog
Harry Sharp 52 points, came on second quarter. 10 touches 8 kicks 1 goal 1 clanger,
80 % Disposal efficiency, 45% tog
James Madden – Did not start.
Connor Ballenden – Did not start.
“He looks like he’s going to be able to play at the level at some point in time”
Chris Fagan on Harry Sharp
Do I swap Oliver for Crae? I love this game, my team changes every day, rooks are set now just hope they get named. Going to be a nervous wait on Saturday
Anyone have the kickout stats for the Bulldogs? Love to know how many Daniel took.
Kick-in play ons:
J. Ziebell 7
S. May 7
J. Ridley 7
C. Daniel 6
I. Cumming 6
J. Clark 6
L. McDonald 6
Another potential breakout player/POD could be Will Brodie from the Suns. 345k MID/FWD is quite cheap for his performance last night.
90 SC points from 70% TOG and to get those points it was 25 disposals, 5 marks, 4 tackles 3 clearances and 1.2 goals.
He attended 15 centre bounces and gained 498 meters in his disposals, which was 2nd for the team.
The reason he is so low in price is due to him never getting a full season. He has played 20 games over 4 seasons with him playing only round 1 last year and previously priced at 436k. Of those 20 games 5 scores were above 90 and of those, 2 were 110 , so it shows he can score well.
He has also played well in the 1st match against Brisbane which wasn’t in the AAMI series, so it shows it wasn’t a one off and it looks to be his breakout year
He is currently in 1% of teams and one of those is mine! Just a reminder he is a former No. 9 draft pick.
“He’s put himself right up there (for selection)”
Suns snr coach Stuart Dew on Will Brodie
