All rookies are placeholders so I’ve gone for some more expensive options there. If cheaper ones come up, I’ll use the extra cash to squeeze in an extra premium mid.
Haha. I’ve done about 40 versions now (took the day off today!) and have made lots of changes from the above. But it is the approach that I wanted to convey rather than the specific players. Only 10 of the above are likely set (3-4-1-2) unless injury strikes or there is new news that effects those picks.
What I will say is that I will be picking at least 7 MidPricers in 2020. Possibly more, but definitely not less. There are reasons for this and I’m in the middle of writing some junk about why that is. It won’t be everyone’s cup of tea (Guns&Rookies is both proven and popular), but the rationale (if you get the picks right) is compelling.
Haha. I think TKelly will ‘steal’ points from other WCE MIDs and improve his average to 110 minimum. If he does, it’s a good pick at that price. If he doesn’t, I’m an idiot.
Hanners and Acres are just two of over 20 MidPricers I’m looking at. They may or may not start, depending on the next few months.
Just loving that it’s back to be honest. Couldn’t come soon enough.
cheers AS – great Chrissy to you and yours mate … will look a bit more closely after the New Year I think … playing BB for first time … and regretting it already after just two rounds … so much luck factor and thus far every player I have had a choice of two – i have chosen the one that goes poorly while the one I could have taken goes off … *sigh*
Looks like you are going for some breakout contenders this year AS. I like it, as it seems far from a vanilla team. Good to see. I’ve usually got a few breakouts in mind, but I’m playing it safe so far, especially in the midfield. I love the Houston pick, but would love to hear your rationale with the Ross pick – certainly a name I have given zero consideration to. Looking forward to the discussion in the off-season mate and merry Xmas.
He’s been in full training for a few weeks now. You can read more in the link that Salamander posted in the Coaches’ Box (top right of HomePage). Still a long way to go til season proper. But so far, so good.
Nice bAps!
Like the Daniel pick. Ward’s price is not what I was hoping for but won’t dismiss him just yet. Brayshaw (MEL) could be a great pick and at his price is not that big a risk to take.
My latest version looks very similar to this Shaggi. Not sure if that’s a good or bad thing 😉
Buddy could be a great pick. Surely if he puts in the work having come back in great shape and doesn’t hit a hurdle, he could make as much money as a rookie. And be a keeper!
As a Carlton supporter, Curnow would be especially risky this year, as we have quite a few kids coming up the ranks that will be nipping at his heels to take his mid spot. He’s a gun, but not sure if he keeps that spot all year.
It’s only been released for people that subscribed to the Gold last year. It will be released to everyone in about 1 month. Somebody with Gold usually goes out of their way to make a spreadsheet for all though.
North draw is most favourable by a long way for the c loop. Even if they dont play late, if you have both Gawn and Grundy, there are only 2 rounds…9+19 that you cant loop one or the other via Comben. And of course r23 chooklotto !! In r9 Dusty or Danger could take the v, but in r19 the choice looks limited to power or hawks….maybe Titch by then.
Fwd: Whitfield, Ablett, Franklin, Smith, Hill, Flanders (Rankine, Cahill)
Thoughts:
Stewart as D1: Don’t like picking players who could be over the hill (Houli, Hurn) and Lloyd didn’t finish the season very well which makes me think he could be over priced. Currently it’s a 3-way battle between Stewart/Daniel & Williams and I really like all 3.
Doedee, Roberton & Hill: Doedee 1 AFL season for an avg of 82. Roberton avgs 90 & 92 in the past. Hill’s avg has been on the downslide in recent seasons but an 80 avg is better than a small forward at F5/6.
Ablett & Franklin: Clear nostalgic pick at this time of the year and completely against what was said above for Stewart. But these 2 just have 150+ potential and I wonder if they could give your team an early boost in the rankings with friendly draws early (or destroy your season).
Whitfield, Heeney, Rozee, Smith, K Pickett, Rankine (Cavarra, Worrell)
Am expecting significant development this year from Houston, Ahern, Setterfield, and Rozee.
Bank $20k
Very happy with this team, could be minor changes to rookies.
Stephen Hill very cheap 190k has averaged 85+ in the past,if fit round 1 a must have. Like the rozee pick, but I think greenwood or wingard are better value. Good Luck
I went heavier with midpricers last year than previous and looked for value and finished top 3000 my best year to date so I am leaning toward a similar setup more so than pure GnR.
FWD Heeny Greenwood Brayshaw Smith Bonar Frampton (Rankine King)
DEF With Hill and Langdon gone Blakely moves into the centre. Will watch Blakely role during preseason. Can also upgrade Houston to Laird, depends on preseason.
FWD Still undecided between greenwood against wingard, will watch over pre season.
MIDS are light, but all are well priced to make little bit and push to 100+ average. I Expect a need to upgrade, mabye 3 mids during the bye rounds. Hoping Hanners gets back to his 2016 form, and Brayshaw gets more time around the ball. Preseason watch
Hey Phil,
Full of pods and breakout contenders. I like the way you are thinking outside the box, but I would strengthen your mids. You have some good value picks though. Good luck mate.
Love the Hunter Clark pick, I grabbed him last year in my keeper league draft, and am pretty chuffed with his back half of the year. Very tempted to start him in standard this year too.
Very interesting looking team mate. Well done. It seems like you have one extra mid? Very ballsy move not starting Gawn or Grundy, but it certainly does make your other lines stronger. Good luck.
Hey SCT community,
Great to be back! With the 2020 picker out, my Christmas present has come early! I’ve decided to post a few videos this year and try and give a bit back to the community after years of playing the game. They will probably be terrible, due to my lack of technical skill and equipment, but feel free to have a look at my team and a bit of my SuperCoach history by clicking on the YouTube link.
I’ve purposefully not looked at any other teams before I posted my vid, so looking forward to doing that now. Cheers guys and great to be back! – DR ✌️
Thanks Baps, much appreciated mate! I’ll try to keep posting some vids during the off-season. Thanks for the feedback and good luck with the planning bud
Great Video, enjoyable, keep posting. I put North loophole into my DEF line 102k instead of RUCK loophole 117k. You already have rivers with DPP for back up. Can save a little bit of coin, with the prediction Darcy Cameron gets a gig as a tall forward and back up for Grundy when he needs air.
As a PIES supporter suggest Treloar instead of Fyfe. Will free up more coin.
Thanks Vic! I like your loophole idea, will certainly look into that. Makes sense to pair Cameron with Grundy. Will seriously consider Treloar for my other mid spot as well. Really appreciate the feedback mate. Cheers ✌️
Crioos, Bont, Yeo, Merrett, Rowell, Cockatoo, Pickett, Hutchesson (E Smith/Close/Budarick)
Gawn, Grundy (Comben)
Martin, Heeney, Ziebell, Westhoff, Wingard, D Smith (Worrell/O’Connor)
$2.4 itb which is a worry, ut reckon there are
At present, there are 4 defs, 5 mids, and 8 fwds with dpp
Westhoff is one of those and is cover for a Grundy or Gawn injury, and will go into ruck for the r13 Grawn bye via Comden. Reckon Hoff gets more ruck time with Ryder gone.
Gawn/Grundy is a no brainer for any serious coach imho…you can loop them for all but rds 9, 13 (bye) and 19
Reckon there are 16 possible keepers, including the entire 6 starting fwds.
Wingard is not SC relevant imo. Tom Mitchell coming back should mean less midfield minutes. Word out of Adelaide is that Gibbs is tearing it up off halfback so that may effect Laird and Doedee’s scoring.
With Gunston going under the knife (ankle) and almost certain to miss the start of 2020, is anyone now:
A. Considering a seriously discounted Patton (RUC/FWD) in their forward line?, and/or
B. Questioning the starting of Sicily off the back of this news?!
Food for thought.
Also consider this…..Pies and Dees, along with many other teams, have proposed extra R/F duties/roles in their forward zones this season…….does that mean the key rucks will be dropping back (IMO coz they can’t kick as well), or interchanging more frequently thus earning less points??
(IMO a la Richmond and Hawthorn eg……last season)
WATCH/STUDY PRESEASON PLAY ROUTINES CLOSELY!!!
Merry Christmas everyone!
I just wanted to ask a question I’m
Pretty keen to start picking a team.
I have never had SuperCoach gold
before I having been looking at the
Herald Sun SuperCoach site, I
gather SuperCoach stats is gold
is that correct? If someone could
help that would be great. Cheers
Hi guys,
I just posted my first player review on a breakout contender – Hugh McCluggage. Check it out below and let me know what you think. Cheers, DR https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1VesauEFkG0
Starc has returned in tip top condition and has a real shot at a best 22 starting spot for round 1. Brisbane has serious depth though so it won’t be easy for him. Only Answerth broke in to the best 22 last season, Starc will have to earn it.
Thanks Vic. Starc is an interesting one. He played as a def in the neafl last year and played well. With Hodgey hanging up the boots there is a spot that has opened up in the backline, but we also recruited Birchall and Ah Chee as running backs and distributers. He was originally drafted as an inside mid, but with the acquisitions of Neale, Lyons and Ellis-Yolmen over the past 2 seasons, I can’t see him getting any midfield time. IMO he won’t be in our starting 22, but he is only a couple of injuries away. Hope that helps a little bit mate. Cheers.
G’day Harry, great effort first up mate. One thing that stands out to me, is that you have a lot of cash sitting on your bench. Young at 180k, Serong at 175k, Greene at 166k, Jaxon at 198k and Cockatoo at 148k. All great potential young guns. But I’d look at downgrading some of the more expensive rookies and upgrading to one of Grundy or Gawn. Best of luck with your planning mate. Cheers.

Nice team FT. A good mix and love that you picked my boy Richy! I also like the Townsend pick, could be a bargain buy. One to monitor may be Laird. I’ve heard that Gibbs has been training with the backs this year and is ‘tearing it up’ (a preseason cliche I know). With Smith and Millera also possibly looking to play that half back role, I’m a little bit worried that Rory’s slice of the SC scoring pie may have become a little smaller. I’m hoping that Millera can push more into the midfield, as I think the crows lack a little bit of pace and X factor there. Good luck with the off-season planning mate. Cheers.
loving your Youtube stuff.
Lots of talk of the demise of Laird last preseason too 😉
I just see him as a safe pick at a pretty good price.
He could just as easily be Sicily, Stuart or Williams.
I’m seriously considering Rampe too. Killed it at the end of last year, and with Gould coming in and a few retirements in defence ,I can see him maybe playing more a Hurn / Rance like role this year. My tip to finish top 6 defender.
I like your Idea of trying to select a team of Breakout Contenders.( anyone able to increase their average by at least 20+)
He may not do quite enough for his awkward price tag, but Sam Walsh will just keep improving. Anyone that scores 6 tons ( one of them a 141) and averages 87 their first year could do anything..
Hey FT thanks very much for that much, much appreciated! Can see what you mean with Laird at the safe price. I’ve gone with Daniel for the same reason (but paying a bit more for him). There are so many options down back, knowing me my team will completely change haha. Ramps could be a terrific pod, love your thinking there. I agree on Sam Walsh, I have him in the mids as part of my breakout contender team, and think he even has the potential to score similar to Oliver in his second year. As you said though mate, can we afford to select him with one of our coveted midfield positions?
Hope you had a very merry Xmas too mate and loving the discussion. Cheers DR.
Time to try something a little different. Not too different, Think youth… and class..
Here goes take 2….
Rampe. Rich. Doc. S Hill. H Young. W Gould. (Goddard Brander)
Macrae. Neale. Cripps. Treloar. S Walsh. M Rowell. L Henry. M Pickett.
( McHenry. Hibberd. North)
Grundy. ROB. ( Comben )
Whitfield. Dusty. A Brayshaw. J Stevens. Townsend. Cockatoo.
( E Smith. D Cameron.)
My main changes were..
leaving out Titch and Buddy ( are they really fit ? )
Max is Gawn…… to make way for an emerging Giant in ROB.
Frees up nearly $200k
This gives me the money for Whitfield ( a must have for sure.) and J Stevens at F4.
Sam Walsh is a star already, but knowing me I will revert back to a Ward / Cogs type by R1..
Essendon have addressed an area in which they have been lacking since Jobe retired (clearances) by drafting Townsend & Hibberd. I think one of those guys will be a great pick
Nice work again FT. I love how you have selected a trio of breakout contenders in our man Sam Walsh, Brayshaw and ROB. It takes a bit of courage to back your gut on guys like this, so hats off to you mate. I’m also looking to fit Townsend into my side, but finding it difficult to find the coin. Looking forward to seeing how your team progresses over the offseason.

I like it a lot mate. Both Houston and Dawson are in my current team. Both DPP with breakout potential. A very solid midfield too. I like everything I see there, but I think Dev Smith’s value may be too hard to pass up in the fwd line. Very, very solid team Ajc

Good morning fellow SCTians.
Have been absorbing in the usual brilliance one can learn this time of the year to slowly piece together my first crystal ball hopes (team) for this season.
As I don’t have gold assess, can someone please advise Bewley’s positon status before I submit my thoughts for analysis. (SCT Team recommendations)
Cheers Guys
Hey mate. I must admit that I scrolled straight past Bewely. I know you were more interested in him as a DPP, but I’d be really keen to hear why you may have been considering him. A very interesting selection and thinking outside the box – I like it
Has a lethel left foot delivery, a good step and can run all day. If Brayshaw does move to the centre, wing spot opens up at Freo. Would slot nicely into this position. But only listed as MID.
As a non-Gold player wondering if anyone could give me a list of 102k ruckmen. Is there any DPP?
Also, did anyone add up there captain scores from last year? Without data to back me up, I reckon the loophole is slightly overrated.
Grundy has averaged 130 last 2 years running, and is a safe bet to do so again.
Not only that but ruckman are the easiest to predict when they don’t go big. Pretty much when they come up against a ruckman they won’t monster.
My point is I think I’ll take a 102k (preferably DPP) ruckman from any club and back Grundy (occasionally someone else) to average 130-135 for a weekly captain score.
Comden is the best option…allows Grawn to be looped for all but four rounds (although r5 is tight), and one of the four rounds (r9 ) allows Dusty or Danger to be looped into either Grawn, and another of the four rounds is the r23 chooklotto.
Thanks DR, looks like it’s Conroy or Combden then. Only other option to consider would be a Cameron or Sweet type for 123k, but they’d have to be playing Round 1 for me to go there
Aaaand we’re back! Hey, fellas. Hope everyone’s year rounded out nicely.
Nothing definitive as of yet, but here’s what I’m thinking line by line:
DEF: Hurn and Williams, Docherty and Roberton if they’re fit and maybe one of DBJ or Hunter Clark just to spice things up.
MID: Hard to go past Dunkley, Macrae and Fyfe, Titch obviously in as well if he’s good to go, Yeo/T. Kelly (can’t help myself lol) and thinking of starting a GWS MID on the basis that surely they come out firing to make up for the GF.
RUC: If 2019 proved anything it’s that you’re a moron not to start Gawn & Grundy, I get that there are some interesting options in Jacobs, Nic Nat, etc., but I’ll hate myself for not starting one of them and then they pump out a casual 150.
FWD: Thinking I’ll go light in the FWD with just Whitfield and then mid-pricers; liking Stevens, Dev Smith and Jack Martin rn. DR’s video affirmed my thoughts on him so, if McCluggage has FWD status chuck him in there as well.
Great thoughts so far GD! Only issue with Luggage for mine is that he is a mid only this year. If he had forward status he’d be a lock for me, but with how stacked the mids are this year I’m finding it hard-pressed to find a spot for him.
For those interested in my like for Bewley, and not to take Fyfe, look up Fyfe’s comments in AFL news about himself and freos future, and also the pre season comments and where your club is at.
Cheers everyone.
Dusty, Heeney, Ziebell, Wingard, D Smith, Patton (S Hill, Rankine)
Speculative at this stage are Cockatoo, Hill and Patton. Patton is cover for Grawn and I can’t ignore Hawks success with recycled players….Bigboy, Lake spring to mind as successful big men recruited. They aren’t recruited to play magoos, and I hear there is a doubt over Gunston.
Deliberately gone hard up forward as that is where the value is, and all other than Rankine are dpp.
Other rookies are list fillers at the moment but all also have dpp.
Isn’t heavily dependent on receiving midfield time due to his ability to hit the scoreboard as evident by 2 of his 3 seasons over 95 involving 40+ goals.
Lowest time on ground since his debut season with the 6 in between all 87% and above.
2019 TOG%= 75.4%
Ziebell is interesting, scored very well when played in the guts but scored not so great when played up forward. With Norf bringing in Bonar, and with the increased development of LDU, Thomas, etc., AND hopefully the return of Ben Jacobs (fingers crossed) I can’t see him getting predominately mid time unfortunately. Very happy to be proven wrong though!
Here’s something a little different: My all-breakout team!
This is a team consisting of players who:
a) have never averaged over 95 (except for ROB who averaged 95.3 last year)
b) I think have the potential to make a big jump in output next year, whether it’s through natural progression or a new role.
There are also a few rookies in there to make the finances work.

Definitely considering Parish and Fiorini, been bullish on both of them for a while now. Steady increase in scoring and a consistent role through the middle, going to watch their pre-seasons closely.
My current team, trying to have as few rookies on the field as possible.
Defenders:
Tom Stewart, James Sicily, Dan Houston
Sam Docherty, Tom Doedee, Tom Williamson
Jez McLennan, Trent Bianco
Mid:
Jack Macrae, Lachie Neale, Josh Dunkley, Clayton Oliver
Matthew Rowell, Jack Bytel, Ned McHenry, Marlion Pickett
Jackson Mead, Trent Rivers, Mitchell Hibberd
Ruck:
Brodie Grundy, Max Gawn
Charlie Comben
Forward:
Lachie Whitfield, Isaac Heeney, Jack Steven
Devon Smith, Stephen Hill, Ben Cavarra
Izak Rankine, Tom Hutchesson
– Sicily’s lost his consistency and re-jigging at Hawthorn runs the risk of not him having an SC conducive role
– Don’t have as much of a problem with Stewart, but remember that he didn’t average over 100 this year
– Houston’s finish to the year was strong, granted, but he still put up 6 scores below 72 during the year and his body will always be a concern
Just think the risk factor and floor of those three selection is too great.
I just reckon you need some sure-fire premos like Hurn, Houli or Lloyd down back. Perhaps grab two of those and then get cheeky with your third DEF premo and grab a Houston or Sicily as a POD.

Sicily, Dawson, Docherty, Roberton, Noble, Williamson (Cottrell, Gould)
Neale, Cripps, Dunkley, Oliver, KKolodjashnij, Rowell, Pickett, DRobertson (Kemp, McHenry, Hibberd)
Grundy, Gawn (Cameron)
Whitfield, DMartin, Lipinski, DSmith, SHill, Cockatoo (ESmith, Mahony)
All rookies are placeholders so I’ve gone for some more expensive options there. If cheaper ones come up, I’ll use the extra cash to squeeze in an extra premium mid.
Only 523,789 changes to go before Round 1!

Draft #4 (already!)
ZWilliams Sicily Houston Ahern NMurphy Gould (Cottrell McLennan)
Macrae Dunkley Oliver TKelly Hannebery JRoss Rowell Pickett (Bytel Budarick M/F North)
Grundy Jacobs (Conroy l/h)
Whitfield Heeney Acres Steven Townsend SHill (Rankine Mahony)
I’d do a 5th AS. I’d love an explanation to all of Ahern, Hanners, Ross, Jacobs, and why no Docherty?
It won’t be everyone’s cup of tea (Guns&Rookies is both proven and popular), but the rationale (if you get the picks right) is compelling.
very interesting AS – I’ve shied away from TKelly – just too many mids at eagles – points will be shared a lot i think …
very interesting picks of Hanneberry, Jacobs and Acres …
Have a great festive season everyone!
cheers AS – great Chrissy to you and yours mate … will look a bit more closely after the New Year I think … playing BB for first time … and regretting it already after just two rounds … so much luck factor and thus far every player I have had a choice of two – i have chosen the one that goes poorly while the one I could have taken goes off … *sigh*
On ya mate. Was tempted by BBL, but am more interested in doing the groundwork for AFL. Pleased in retrospect.
Have noticed on Twitter that you’re not the only one who feels that way about BBL! That’s gotta be a good thing right? 😉
Good luck mate and catch ya on the other side.
but Grawn, Pickett and Rowell might get starts in r1.
I’m obviously excited…above post was meant to follow my post below. Now even I am confused.
Interesting AS…certainly not guns n rookies.
Gday lads, I remember last year some legend made an Excel team picker for the poor souls without Gold. Any chance of that happening again? Cheers.

Anyone know how much Jacob Townsend is?
He is listed as a forward for $222,900
222k
Not even going to have a try at this stage other than Nth r/f Xerri is no 1 c loop
Why not his team mate Comben for 6k less??
Stephen Hill is crazy cheap. Any Freo supporters that can give update on his fitness.? Think he had calf injury.?
He’s been in full training for a few weeks now. You can read more in the link that Salamander posted in the Coaches’ Box (top right of HomePage). Still a long way to go til season proper. But so far, so good.
He is in my team at this early stage. 🙂
First rough draft, $20.8k remaining. Most rookies are 123k placeholders.
Lloyd, Daniel, Laird, Williamson, Goddard, Cottrell (Butts [hehe], Gould)
Macrae, Neale, Cripps, Ward, Brayshaw [MEL], Rowell, Henry, Pickett (Valente, Jones, Hibberd)
Grundy, Gawn (Cameron)
Whitfield, Dusty, Steven, D. Smith, Cockatoo, Rankine (E. Smith, Tohill)
Nice bAps!
Like the Daniel pick. Ward’s price is not what I was hoping for but won’t dismiss him just yet. Brayshaw (MEL) could be a great pick and at his price is not that big a risk to take.
Summer hibernation is finally and we’re back.

My latest version looks very similar to this Shaggi. Not sure if that’s a good or bad thing 😉
Buddy could be a great pick. Surely if he puts in the work having come back in great shape and doesn’t hit a hurdle, he could make as much money as a rookie. And be a keeper!
If buddy’s making as much money as a cheap rookie then he’s probably a keeper same goes for J.Steven & D.Smith too big watch on their pre-seasons

Forgot Curnow in team 2. To round out midfield. DOH…
As a Carlton supporter, Curnow would be especially risky this year, as we have quite a few kids coming up the ranks that will be nipping at his heels to take his mid spot. He’s a gun, but not sure if he keeps that spot all year.
Should I downgrade to a Gus Brayshaw/Hanners OR Upgrade to Ross.?
Where can I find the team picker ??
It’s only been released for people that subscribed to the Gold last year. It will be released to everyone in about 1 month. Somebody with Gold usually goes out of their way to make a spreadsheet for all though.
Who is this Comben I’m seeing at r3 in people’s team? Club? Price? dpp?
Comben is a 117k RUC/FWD for Norf. Norf must be the best loophole team this year, given he’s a lot of peoples’ R3.
Ok thanks bAps, yes North are 1 of 3 teams with the best fixture for loophole purposes.
But myself, I think I’d rather save $15k and pick a ruckman with a slightly worse fixture. Are there any 102k r/f at all?
There’s a thread on Loophole Options for 2020 here:
http://supercoachtalk.com/2020-loophole-options/
I’ll put up the most relevant options tomorrow.
Great to see you back in 2020 and providing great feedback as always AS. Good luck with the planning and research mate
V 1.0 (LOL) of who knows how many! Good luck out there coaches and happy holidays 🙂

Way too many risks in this first draft but what’s a first draft for?
Def: Stewart, Docherty, Doedee, Roberton, McLennan, Rivers (Bianco, Gould)
Mid:Macrae, Fyfe, Cripps, Dunkley, Mitchell, Rowell, Pickett, Sharp (Schoenberg, Mead, Hibberd)
Ruck: Grundy, Gawn (Comben)
No consideration for bye rounds at this stage.
Nice team Matty. Like the pick of the two premos in defence with Roberton & Doedee. Think that selection might come in pretty popular this year!
Lloyd, Williams, Houston, Ahern, McLennan, Bianco (Ling, Gould)
Macrae, Fyfe, Mitchell, Dangerfield, Setterfield,
Rowell, Pickett, McInerney (Robertson, Rivers, Budarick)

Am expecting significant development this year from Houston, Ahern, Setterfield, and Rozee.

Very happy with this team, could be minor changes to rookies.
Stephen Hill very cheap 190k has averaged 85+ in the past,if fit round 1 a must have. Like the rozee pick, but I think greenwood or wingard are better value. Good Luck

Hey Phil,
Full of pods and breakout contenders.
Hi merry Christmas and a happy new year.
But to more important things.. thoughts ?
Sicily. Houston. Clark. Doedee.Young. Mclennan. Bianco. Gould
MacRae. Fyfe. Cripps. Dunkley. Dangerfield. Sloane. Rowell. Pickett. Hibberd. Rivers. Robertson. Smith.
English. Jacobs. Cameron
Whitfield. Steven. Smith. Franklin. Henry. Flanders. Rankine. Cahill
Very interesting looking team mate. Well done. It seems like you have one extra mid? Very ballsy move not starting Gawn or Grundy, but it certainly does make your other lines stronger. Good luck.
No Gawn or Grundy. Best of Luck with that.
– DR ✌️
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MRFe0tI_WIA
Good stuff bud, I’ve subscribed and am looking forward to future videos!
Good Luck
Thanks Vic! I like your loophole idea, will certainly look into that. Makes sense to pair Cameron with Grundy. Will seriously consider Treloar for my other mid spot as well. Really appreciate the feedback mate. Cheers ✌️
I don’t have Gold, so not 100% is this fits in salary cap or not but here goes v1
B: Sicily, Laird, Docherty, Roberton, Hill, Gould, (Young, Bianco)
M: Cripps, Fyfe, Dangerfield, Macrae, Oliver, Rowell, Pickett, Hibberd (Robertson, Smith, McHenry)
R: Grundy, Naitanui, (102k)
F: Martin, Whitfield, Heeney, Steven, Smith, Rankin (Cahill, Cavarra)
I get to Devon Smith. Only 61,400 remaining and 3 spots to fill.
FWD Line.
Whitfield 604100
Martin 543000
Heeny 510700
Steven 361700
Smith 335.800
Cararra / Rankine 123900
Cahill 117300
Nice one Phil..
You might be over budget, a touch…. having Oliver at M5 and Smith at F5 will do that..
If Nic Nat gets going preseason, a few might follow in that direction. I’m just not sure he can get back to his best.
A very strong team over all though.
Long way to go…
I said I wouldn’t but I have…here’s my one and only draft…..Hohohoho !!!
Laird, Dawson, Docherty, Doedee, Bianco, Gould ( Gollant/Rivers)
Forgive the typos and syntax…just had my first champers !!
Wingard is not SC relevant imo. Tom Mitchell coming back should mean less midfield minutes. Word out of Adelaide is that Gibbs is tearing it up off halfback so that may effect Laird and Doedee’s scoring.
Surely Adelaide don’t need another half back, they’ve already got Smith and Laird killing it in that department.
Not if Laird moves to midfield.????. Been talk for few years, new coach, new structure.
Hate to burst your bubble Wighty, but the Hoff is a FWD/MID this year, not a FWD/RUC.
Thanks for that…really made my Christmas 🙁
Why so many in the FWD line, and what happen to your mids, only 4.?
Take 2. It looked wrong not having grundy
Z Williams. J Sicily. S Docherty. T. Dodee
H. Young. Mclennan. Bianco. Gould.
MacRae. Neale. Fyfe. Cripps. Dunkley
Rowell. Pickett. Hibberd.
Rivers. Robertson. Smith
Grundy. English. Cameron
Whitfield. Franklin. Steven. D Smith.
Bonar. Henry. Flanders. Rankine
Sicily killed us last year due to being played out of position. I’m struggling to put him in my side. Have I missed something???
New recruits should minimize that this year
Merry Christmas everyone!
I just wanted to ask a question I’m
Pretty keen to start picking a team.
I have never had SuperCoach gold
before I having been looking at the
Herald Sun SuperCoach site, I
gather SuperCoach stats is gold
is that correct? If someone could
help that would be great. Cheers
Thats the one jezza $19.95 for the year , well worth it.
Thanks Bruce P appreciate it.
A bit of extra info should be great.
Hi guys,
I just posted my first player review on a breakout contender – Hugh McCluggage. Check it out below and let me know what you think. Cheers, DR

Another Good Report. No Doubt a future leader of the Team.
Something Off Topic but related to Brisbane Footy Club. Young Starcevich, can you see any regular playing time for the lad this year.?
Cheers.

Cheers.

Let the games begin…
There’s still quite a few Midpricers / Break out contenders at this early stage. Bench rookies are just filling spots as per usual.
Def.. Laird, Rich, Doc, S Hill, Young, Gould. (Brander, Goddard)
Mid.. Macrae, Neale, Cripps, Mitch, Ward, Rowel, M Pickett,
M Hibberd. ( Pina, Mc Henry, North )
Ruck.. Grundy, Gawn, ( D Cameron.)
Forward.. Martin , Franklin, A Brayshaw, J Steven, J Townsend,
N Cockatoo. ( E Smith, Rankine )
Good to see you back FT.
Cheers.
Thanks DR
loving your Youtube stuff.
I will look forward to future discussions.
Hope you had a great Xmas..
Cheers DR.
Thanks Sainter.
Looks like you’ve been busy already this year..
Lots of awks priced Breakout contenders, Its going to be a very interesting pre season.
Discounted guys like Doc, Ward, S Hill, J Stevens and Buddy have to come into contention. Lets see if they can stay fit?
Hope you had a great Xmas..
Yep I got the arvo off..
Yippeee…
Time to try something a little different. Not too different, Think youth… and class..
Here goes take 2….
Rampe. Rich. Doc. S Hill. H Young. W Gould. (Goddard Brander)
Macrae. Neale. Cripps. Treloar. S Walsh. M Rowell. L Henry. M Pickett.
( McHenry. Hibberd. North)
Grundy. ROB. ( Comben )
Whitfield. Dusty. A Brayshaw. J Stevens. Townsend. Cockatoo.
( E Smith. D Cameron.)
My main changes were..
leaving out Titch and Buddy ( are they really fit ? )
Max is Gawn…… to make way for an emerging Giant in ROB.
Frees up nearly $200k
This gives me the money for Whitfield ( a must have for sure.) and J Stevens at F4.
Sam Walsh is a star already, but knowing me I will revert back to a Ward / Cogs type by R1..
God I missed this….
Know the feeling on Walsh. I don’t have the courage to pick him.
I’m tempted to not take Gawn too at this stage.
I’ll be keeping an eye on what role Townsend gets. He wants to play midfield that’s for sure.

Josh Kelly could become Tom Mitchell if he looks like he is tearing up JLT
I like it a lot mate. Both Houston and Dawson are in my current team. Both DPP with breakout potential. A very solid midfield too. I like everything I see there, but I think Dev Smith’s value may be too hard to pass up in the fwd line. Very, very solid team Ajc
thanks, if dawson or houston dont fire in JLT they would become DSmith
Great Team. Sure you are aware fyfe has another surgery on his shoulder, and Devan Smith for the FWD crazy cheap. Good Luck.
thanks, if dawson or houston dont fire in JLT they would become DSmith as with Fyfe and Josh Kelly could easily become treloar or Tom Mitchell.
thanks for the feedback
Reckon Rance will show up in the team picker at some point?! Was on my watch list…
Are there other players currently missing?

Good morning fellow SCTians.
Have been absorbing in the usual brilliance one can learn this time of the year to slowly piece together my first crystal ball hopes (team) for this season.
As I don’t have gold assess, can someone please advise Bewley’s positon status before I submit my thoughts for analysis. (SCT Team recommendations)
Cheers Guys
Aardvarkin, He is a FWd only at $253K
@#$&*Bugger
Thanks Shaun.
Had him at that price (thanks AS), but as a mid.
Aww well……..
Good analysis cheers mate
Bewley is a FWD and is roughly 250k
Thanks Ben. My early notes had him listed as Mid only. Now another player on the watch list for preseason.
Hey Phil, unfortunately the only 102k ruck is Matthew Conroy from the suns. No DPP status. The cupboard is very bare mate!
Comben from NM is probably the best DPP option at $117,300 mate.
Ah, yep. Exactly right. Cheers, Ben.
Btw your team is looking really solid atm, was going to drop a comment but the 6 TUs spoke for themselves lol.
For those interested in my like for Bewley, and not to take Fyfe, look up Fyfe’s comments in AFL news about himself and freos future, and also the pre season comments and where your club is at.
Cheers everyone.
Guys to help finalise my first draft could I please be assisted with the following:
McAsey, position and how much,
Bergman, position and how much,
And any North def or fwd 102k.
Cheers
McAsey, ADE (DEF), $184.8k
Bergman, PTA (FWD), $148.8k and
NTH
Matthew McGUINNESS (DEF), $102 400
Thanks AS……hopefully I can now balance it. Cheers.
Def:Z Williams, Dawson, Docherty,
Roberton, Young, Starcevich,
Williamson, Gould.
Mids: Macrae, Fyfe, Cripps, Dunkley,
J Steven, M Rowell, McHenry,
M Pickett, Kemp, Mead, Hibberd.
Rucks: Grundy , Gawn, Comden.
Forwards: Whitfield, Martin,
D Smith, Franklin, Cockatoo,
Rankin, M king, Cavarra.
Enjoying looking at all the early drafts….trouble is my head is spinning !!! It stopped momentarily and I came up with this second draft
Laird, Dawson, Doch, Doedee, Bianco, Gould (Rivers McQuillan)
Cripps, Bont, Yeo, Merrett, Rowell, Cockatoo, Pickett Hutchesson (E Smith, Close, Budarick)
Gawn, Grundy (Comden)
Wingard? Why? He will have less midfield time with Mitchell back. No chance of being a top 6 forward and is not underpriced.
Guys, one last request before I show my thoughts for your assessment, Budarick… how much and who the dickens is this MF from the suns!

Let me know what you think!
Definitely considering Parish and Fiorini, been bullish on both of them for a while now. Steady increase in scoring and a consistent role through the middle, going to watch their pre-seasons closely.
My current team, trying to have as few rookies on the field as possible.
Defenders:
Tom Stewart, James Sicily, Dan Houston
Sam Docherty, Tom Doedee, Tom Williamson
Jez McLennan, Trent Bianco
Mid:
Jack Macrae, Lachie Neale, Josh Dunkley, Clayton Oliver
Matthew Rowell, Jack Bytel, Ned McHenry, Marlion Pickett
Jackson Mead, Trent Rivers, Mitchell Hibberd
Ruck:
Brodie Grundy, Max Gawn
Charlie Comben
Forward:
Lachie Whitfield, Isaac Heeney, Jack Steven
Devon Smith, Stephen Hill, Ben Cavarra
Izak Rankine, Tom Hutchesson
Hey, GP. Looking good.
My only concern would be your trio DEF premos:
Thanks Gunboat. Lloyd was the last guy cut from my team to save $$$ and I brought in Sicilly. If I free up some cash, I’ll be putting Lloyd back in.
IDK Sicilly always makes me nervous that he is going to get suspended.
You need another premium MID.
Defenders

First time poster, longtime lurker, what are people thoughts on this team
If you want to go cheap ruck, suggest Jacobs over English. Remove Steven and bring Hill into FWD line and lopehole in DEF. You need a loophole. How much cash left.? Upgrade Curnow to UBER premium MID. See how that looks. Good Luck.
Thank you for the feedback

Ok, so I found out who Budarick is.
Can anyone please supply his monetary value.
Thanks.
106,900
Thanks TT. Now to complete……….
Look’s like Lloyd could be a good pod lol
True, he finished the year poorly and I think most expect Dawson to take points off him. Could be a bit over-priced.
I think alot of people are hoping Lloyd, Danger and Dusty dip in price then snapping them up.
Think I’ll start him. Grabbing mid-pricers down back, so I can afford to splash out on a top tier defender and yeah he’s a POD now lol.
