Captaincy Candidates – Round 10

Captaincy Candidates

Daicos v Crows

L3 v Crows: 105, 132, 72 (103 avg.)

L3 @ MCG: 89, 125, 94 (103 avg.)

L3 MID v Crows: 117, 103, 157 (126 avg.)

Crows tightened up on ball since *shocker* Crouch has been out but still solid enough conditions for Daicos to go 125.

Bontempelli v Dons

L3 v Dons: 73, 126, 115 (105 avg.)

L3 @ MRVL: 159, 123, 182 (155 avg.)

L3 MID v Dons: 90, 101, 125 (105 avg.)

He’ll break Setterfield on ball and is well acclimated playing forward, having spent of a third of his time there recently. Dons undermanned in both areas. Easy 130.

Xerri v Tigers

L3 v Tigers: 144, 57 (101 avg.)

L3 @ MCG: 111, 57, 79 (82 avg.)

L3 RUC v Tigers: 80, 73, 174 (109 avg.)

12 clearances and 14 contested for Xerri last week. Simply a monster. He’ll brutalize a limp Nank for 140.

Sheezel v Tigers

L3 v Tigers: 105, 136 (121 avg.)

L3 @ MCG: 117, 136, 107 (120 avg.)

L3 HB v Tigers: 126, 111, 132 (123 avg.)

Sheezel should be able to have a creative outing at half back. Good conditions for him to post his best score of the year.

Gawn v Lions

L3 v Lions: 79, 138, 0 (72 avg.)

L3 @ G: 79, 0, 74 (51 avg.)

L3 RUC v Lions: 186, 54, 133 (124 avg.)

On paper, it isn’t the most attractive match up but Maxxy’s form makes him warrant consideration every week.

Macrae v Eagles

L3 v Eagles: 59, 49, 102 (70 avg.)

L3 @ OS: 79, 131, 102 (104 avg.)

L3 MID v Eagles: 108, 129, 100 (112 avg.)

Would much prefer Macrae in Victoria but we’ll be gassed the close finish against the Tiges. Saints to roll over us.

Sinclair v Eagles

L3 v Eagles: 140, 102, 116 (119 avg.)

L3 @ OS: 102, 116, 117 (112 avg.)

L3 HB v Eagles: 82, 66, 75 (74 avg.)

Sinc and NWM should also do a job on us off of HB.

Smoky Picks

Neale v Dees

L3 v Dees: 114, 109, 100 (108 avg.)

L3 @ G: 124, 113, 71 (103 avg.)

L3 MID v Dees: 57, 91, 95 (81 avg.)

“Smoky” in the sense many will overlook after last week’s flat 80 but it’s a strong match up for him. Bounces back.

Steer Clear

Brayshaw v Giants

L3 v Giants: 147, 107, 95 (116 avg.)

L3 @ ENS: 147, 107 (127 avg.)

L3 MID v Giants: 154, 83, 128 (122 avg.)

Bedford back, missed main training. Pass on the kid wonder this week.

Verdict

Very much a wide but not tall spectrum of offerings this week. Think we’ll see a lot of 120s and not many spike scores.

Daicos into Gawn here, although I may throw caution to the wind, rid myself of Nank and finally grab Xerri.

      • It’s just an example of how other popular / well known players in the same position have fared against that particular opposition over the past 3 weeks.

For example, with Brayshaw vs GWS, the data shows other MID scores of 154 (B.Smith – Rnd 9), 83 (Heeney – Rnd 8) & 128 (Bont – Rnd 7). It’s a great guide I think.

  1. Thanks GD. So many weird questions pop up this week – does Clarry tag Neale? How fit is Daicos? Is Gawn human?

I agree that it might be time for a boring Sunday VC on the X and hope he can repeat last week’s heroics

  2. Only tricky part for the Xerri/Gawn combo is North v Richmond won’t be done when Melbourne v Brisbane starts. Hopefully Xerri goes big early and I can chuck the C on Livingstone, as this is still the combo I’m looking at.

  3. Thank you GD. Great addition with the L3 Position vs Team stat – Super useful!

I’m on Bont into Xerri, but tempted with Xerri into Gawn and see how Xerri is looking by half time.

    • I am also using Boyd to VC Xerri & then to Captain Gawn if needed.

Unless Lindsay is dropped / rested (which is unlikely), I don’t have any non players lete in the round

Therefore it will be great to firstly see if Boyd actually plays on the weekend, and then (somehow) if he actually gets on a plane to Perth

  4. Not sure why a lot of people are thinking Setterfield is going to Bont when it was Durham who got him last time and did a decent job. I would think Setterfield would go to Libba. I’ve still given Bont the VC though.

    • Enjoy your pragmatism every week and often follow. Luv the new 130 minimum, which of course I agree with. Huzzah!
