Captaincy Candidates – Round 17

Captaincy Candidates

Xerri v Dogs

L3 v Dogs: 122, 141, 141

L3 @ MRVL: 126, 146, 144

L3 RUC v Dogs: 179, 75, 80

Grundy absolutely obliterated a ginger Tingles last week. Xerri had his number for a while and will no doubt ring his bell again. Very safe, very stable.

Bontempelli v North

L3 v North: 123, 157, 169

L3 @ MRVL: 177, 101, 140

L3 MIDs v North: 119, 109, 130

Bont’s got a little more variance to him but has had his god like ceiling unlocked by those fleece-able midfield match ups. Richards, and even Dale, also tremendous here for those without Bont.

Smith v Tigers

L3 v Tigers: 59, 69, 122

L3 @ GMHBA: 85, 118, 154

L3 MID v Tigers: 112, 177, 123

Should relish the Tiges at home as an opportunity for 40 and a few Brownlow votes.

Holmes v Tigers

L3 v Tigers: 133, 59, 41

L3 @ GMHBA: 110, 152, 128

L3 MID v Tigers: 112, 177, 123

The #1 Cat at GMHBA this season, Holmes also comes in as a great shout. It’ll be his TOG vs Smith’s DE but both should have a field day.

Smoky Picks

Green v Eagles

L3 v Eagles: 128, 137, 106

L3 @ OS: 137, 106, 92

L3 MID v Eagles: 131, 127, 82

Smoky due to his ownership but his clearance work has been immense of late and he’ll carve us up, even in Perth. I’m not sure Ash is enough of a gull but in Whitfield’s absence he should also pop.

Suns MIDs v Dons

A quick way of naming both Anderson and Rowell, who should each shred the Dons. Would have adumbrated them in greater detail were they playing at home.

Steer Clear

Daicos v Blues

I don’t expressly hate a VC on Daicos but you’re knowingly doing it into a tag and there are a slew of good early options. I can see him and the Pies breaking the Blues, their tag and spirit.

Sunday

Yes, Sunday. A bunch of tag happy, soul-sucking and restrictive sides coming up against each other. I’d pass on the lot: Gawn, Dawson, Jackson, Brayshaw.

Verdict

Smith C. I’m locking that in. Splitting Xerri and Bont is just brutal. Both have sensational match ups and numbers. Maybe thinking match conditions – i.e. the Dogs mauling North – gives Bont the edge?

Who gets the Thursday night VC?

  1. Bont seems to back up his quiet games with massive ones, and Dogs should feast on North coming off a 5 day break. Bont for me.

  2. Should’ve followed the hunch and VCed Libba in his milestone game, but thems the breaks.

Gonna roll the dice on Daicos with little worry, because I expect C Holmes to go large regardless.
