Captaincy Candidates – Round 21

Vice-Captaincy Candidates

BONTEMPELLI v Dees

  • L3 v Dees: 126, 107, 105
  • L3 @ MRVL: 108, 157, 162

He’s faded some obvious targets recently and probably isn’t a good size match up, so Bont might honestly not have to deal with Neal Bullen. In which case it’s an easy 130 with the Dees’ non-midfield. Bont is the only deviation I would consider from Flanders-Sheezel this week, purely on ceiling.

FLANDERS v Eagles

  • L3 v Eagles: 105
  • L3 @ OS: 117, 62

I actually rate Reid, Yeo and T. Kelly against the Miller-less Suns and Fatt Rowell, so there’ll be some competition at clearance but Flanders’ accumulating game will pick up on two of the Eagles’ biggest weaknesses: uncontested possession differential and post-clearance contested possessions. Sails to 140. Maybe even Fatt Rowell the loser can ton for the first time in two months!

SHEEZEL v Tigers

  • L3 v Tigers: 136
  • L3 @ MRVL: 138, 141, 103

Knew he’d slay the Cats in Tassie but my word: 36 touches, a goal and TWENTY FIVE contested! Holy hell. The kid is a jet. Easy 2025 start. Now can the Tigers tag this week? Yeah, sure. But it’ll be more of a reactive tag like with Daicos last week if anything. Solid for 140 as the Roos look to remove themselves from spoon contention.

Captaincy Candidates

CRIPPS v Pies

  • L3 v Pies: 68, 100, 87
  • L3 @ MCG: 144, 99, 75

Certainly a gap between his perceived form and SC output but nevertheless a high stakes clash against a slight Pies midfield will spell 125 for the big fella. Walsh just looks beat but suppose he’s there too?

SERONG v Dons

  • L3 v Dons: 104, 77, 73
  • L3 @ MCG: 137, 140, 93

Longmuir mentioned that the Dockers would pay Zerrett some mind but don’t think they’ll do so to the extent is upsets their established midfield rotation. With Caldwelll then watching Serong I think the contest just opens up and both are good for 120. Wouldn’t be targeting either but they’re there.

DUNKLEY v Saints

  • L3 v Saints: 90, 106, 122
  • L3 @ MRVL: 104, 99, 99

Saints really tightened up. Stopped leaking big differentials to defenders by tuning their I50 entries and resumed tagging on ball. Think that’s Neale and Zorko off the table. Dunks therefore the safest at Marvel. Solid for 125 in what could honestly be a sweat.

Steer Clear

Daicos gets Cincotta, Butters gets Jordon. Pass, pass.

Smoky Pick

TRELOAR v Dees

  • L3 v Dees: 91, 132, 79
  • L3 @ MRVL: 58, 125, 94

If anyone’s managed to jump on, I can see Treloar absolutely baking the Dees and going 140 while the Dees stumble over themselves.

  1. It’s crunch time for the Dees I think Gawn will have to carry his team with a 150. I even think Oliver will finally pull his thumb out and drop 120.

I’ll be going Gawn into Bont/Flanders/Sheezel.

    1. Yeah, there’s absolutely no need to contribute to online vitriol of players/athletes. If you wouldn’t say it to their face, don’t hide behind your keyboard.

  2. Any concern with Sheezel considering Jack Graham is back in for the tigs?

Has been taking before he was injured if I’m correct..

  3. Ed Richards worth a sneaky VC? Or Gawn?

    TD Gawn

Will probably go Bont or Flanders though!
