Where and When: MCG, Saturday 31 July, 2021 at 4:15pm (AEST)
Last time they met: Rd 5, 2021: West Coast 16.7 (103) def Collingwood 11.10 (76) at Optus Stadium.
Last 5 H2H: West Coast 3 – Collingwood 2
Thommo Watch:
Collingwood: Grundy remains his uber-consistent self while a few poor souls are riding the DeGoey rollercoaster. Sidebottom and Adams may not be bad options in the absence of Pendles.
West Coast: Gaff, NicNat, Kelly, Yeo and Hurn remain unique but interesting options in the first week of SC finals.
Match Preview: Despite mixed form, the Eagles remain 2 wins ahead of 9th place and probably only need two more wins to guarantee a finals berth. Considering they face Melbourne and Brisbane in the next three weeks, they will understand how important a win is this week. And if they can’t win, should West Coast play finals? The Pies can pull out a decent performance at times but they are no powerhouse and shouldn’t have the cattle to trouble West Coast.
However, this match is at the MCG. Can the Eagles chalk up another road win?
Thommo’s Tip: West Coast by 25 points. (Tipping record: 30.5/55)
