Rough start to the week with Satan and Butters last night like many a coach, so hopefully the weekend can get going tonight!
Just Neale who almost had the VC until O’Connor’s name floated into my brain, and SDK as cover. Nice 65+ would be good from him to get the $$$ generation going.
Mixed start with VC Oliver and Butters spudding. I’m super stoked Gawn came good as I was starting to get cheap ruck FOMO. I swear I’m the only one left with no Cripps and Gawndry.
Ditto for me tonight with Neale and SDK. I’m stuck in Iso after finally succumbing to the dreaded Rona. The good news is I won’t be missing any of the footy this weekend.
Stewart out is huge. Brisbane have to almost be favourites with him missing. hope Berry can help Neale break the tag if it sticks it might become a thing.
Yes FT – that is terrible news that you have caught that – keep a close eye on everything mate and don’t hesitate to call / go to hospital etc if symptoms get worse … not something to take lightly mate. All the best and thinking of your best health!
I’m guessing that peoples thoughts on this are more based around the fact that North may have some really poor quality inside 50’s, meaning Patty Mac can pick those intercept marks off a little easier.
With Stewart out I’m rolling the dice and putting SDK on field. Ripped out a good score in the pre season without Stewart (and another couple defenders) in the team so tonight’s the night to step up big fella.
Gibcus maintains E on the bench.
G’day GD.
I am still annoyed with myself for completely stuffing up this round.
I was trying different trades and had an emergency leak in the kitchen so cancelled trades and went and attended to spraying water.
Half way through first quarter when I checked game day and saw that I had Oliver as my captain. My team had reverted back to last week. What a dumb rookie mistake!
Loooong way to go in that one mate! Lots of players different and you with Steele, Treloar and Grundy could score big at any stage!!
Also, I’m not sure I have a “safe” VC loop player to trust … would be nice if Hayes was definitely not going to be 23rd man!! I may just have to nail the C choice!
Also, just in case anyone watches the shield colours, The Maulers shield changed colours this week in honour of the brave people in the Ukraine … least I can do outside of a donation for those poor people!

I thought it favoured Brisbane marginally until 3QT but in the fourth the umps have had their Geelong glasses on. Hawkins is not even attempting to disguise the push-outs!
Yep, would have loved an 80+ from SDK but no complaints.
Total respect for Neale. Gave away a couple free kicks out of frustration, so he easily could have gone 130+ while getting tagged!
Also ripping game tonight after trying to sit through last night’s strange snooze fest
Pumba, only if you believe Stephens cash generation has stopped. I don’t think he is far from best 22. With all this HS protocol, or injuries, we may play another 2 games before the byes and Dow could be affected with Prestia back.. all of a sudden it’s not enough cash generation worth a trade. It’s a luxury trade. Do you want to do it this side of the season ?
Rough start to the week with Satan and Butters last night like many a coach, so hopefully the weekend can get going tonight!
Just Neale who almost had the VC until O’Connor’s name floated into my brain, and SDK as cover. Nice 65+ would be good from him to get the $$$ generation going.
Good luck tonight all!
Right on, Dane, and evening, all.
Just Neale here but resigned to him getting tagged to a sub-ton. SDK bench as well.
Will be watching for a great contest and game of football, not that SC relevant on my end.
Hey fella’s
Mixed start with VC Oliver and Butters spudding. I’m super stoked Gawn came good as I was starting to get cheap ruck FOMO. I swear I’m the only one left with no Cripps and Gawndry.
Ditto for me tonight with Neale and SDK. I’m stuck in Iso after finally succumbing to the dreaded Rona. The good news is I won’t be missing any of the footy this weekend.
Ooof!
Late out: Freo Tragic (H&S protocol).
In all seriousness, hope you’re alright brother.
Cracking weekend of football to help you recover lol.
It’s bloody awful actually. I’m up to my eyeballs in Nurofen, Netflix ( Ozark is F*cking great TV ) and footy, so that helps somewhat.
Hoping O’Connor is one of the late outs 😉
So slack, still need to start this latest season of Ozark. Hopefully your boys get up v GWS tomorrow night, sure that’ll ease the pain a bit aha.
Hope you’re better sooner than later FT.
Hi FT,
That is bad news.
All the best for a speedy recovery.
Agree about Ozark.
I have the same as everyone it seems. Neale and SDK.
Cheers.
Thanks fellas.
Stewart out is huge. Brisbane have to almost be favourites with him missing. hope Berry can help Neale break the tag if it sticks it might become a thing.
Get well FT.
Speedy recovery to you FT!
Thanks Derek and Dane.
Yes FT – that is terrible news that you have caught that – keep a close eye on everything mate and don’t hesitate to call / go to hospital etc if symptoms get worse … not something to take lightly mate. All the best and thinking of your best health!
Cheers mate. I think I’m through the worst of it.
Last few days have been pretty rough.
With you there GD! Half an eye on Stewart but keen for a good, solid game of footy overall.
Potential late change or 2 been mentioned on SEN during an interview with Simon Lloyd from Geelong.
3 Geelong emergencies didnt play in the VFL game tonight.
Late outs Geelong
OUT – Ratugolea & Stewart
IN – Narkle & Miers (sub: Z.Guthrie)
Brisbane :
No change (sub: Robertson)
Esava Ratugolea (injured) and Tom Stewart (gastro)
Stewart out means I have to field McCartin or SDK.
TU: McCartin
TD: SDK
Surprised by this poll. I would have thought that Kangaroos wouldn’t have ball forward that much, so McCartin wouldn’t see much of it?
It just means the defenders push up to the middle and pick off the easy ball
I’m guessing that peoples thoughts on this are more based around the fact that North may have some really poor quality inside 50’s, meaning Patty Mac can pick those intercept marks off a little easier.
Surely DeKoning gets a bump with Stewart out
With Stewart out I’m rolling the dice and putting SDK on field. Ripped out a good score in the pre season without Stewart (and another couple defenders) in the team so tonight’s the night to step up big fella.
Gibcus maintains E on the bench.
Good luck Jam
At least you know he won’t get thrown forward.
Like the thinking, Jam.
Surely he does a bit more with no Stewart.
All the best to everyone.
Argh. That sucks, CT.
Thought you had to straight C due to no loop. Damn.
Not to worry, rest of the team will fire.
Tipped Lions in this one btw.
I had Stephens, that’s why I meant to VC Oliver. Thats water under the bridge now or over kitchen floor!. At least I fixed that.
I also went for Brisbane as well.
At least that means you had Oliver’s C score from last week
Maybe I can top that.Tried to be smart and loop Gawn on the bench.Didnt notice the E wasn’t on.Ffs!!!!!
ouch!
That hurts, TB.
Yeah, that just about tops mine.
Better luck for the rest of season to you.
Ouch CT that is terrible luck … on both the SC and home front mate!
Thanks Macca.
Just have to look forward and not dwell on it.
You are looking good in our match up.
Have a great weekend.
Loooong way to go in that one mate! Lots of players different and you with Steele, Treloar and Grundy could score big at any stage!!

Got a stinger to his shoulder but he’s already at his projected score so whatever it is it’s working!
Berry finally justifying my faith.

How many people here traded out both Gawn and Berry in the last couple of weeks? I’m guessing heaps…
Yeah Berry For Bowey (to get Cripps)….
2020 hindsight I’d keep Berry and get Hinge for Stevens
This has been an enthralling contest and a fantastic tactical duel.
Adams been superb. Peeled off Hawkins just then, but aside from that been taking front position and has 6 intercept marks.
Solid. Rock solid.
Evening fellas. Sorry to hear your predicament FT. Have a nice rest and chicken soup. Did the trick for me.
De Koning is fading away ? I thought he’ll benefit Stewart out…
Bonsoir, Jeannot.
Yeah, Lions cut out shallow entries in that third quarter. Dried up whatever economy De Koning could have had.
Neale, on the other hand, starting to outclass O’Connor and the Lions ball movement looking really sharp.
Set for an exiting fourth quarter.
Also, Jeannot, got you in Gun’s Regulars #2 this week – good luck!
Oh noo GD , I had VC Gawn . That’s a bad week to play me. 🙂
Good on Neale. Crème always comes to the top. I feel bad for kids who go to games to watch their stars only to watch them museled by boring coaches
Bonne chance à toi.
Un très bon début, Jeannot. Bonne chance!
I was just writing that Dangerfield throws himself into the contest so low he is always taking legs out and could injure someone…
3/4 time – and now its the Lions by a point

Then he takes a great intercept mark.
Umpires are pretty ordinary
I thought it favoured Brisbane marginally until 3QT but in the fourth the umps have had their Geelong glasses on. Hawkins is not even attempting to disguise the push-outs!
Do we now assume going forward for our Captains that Geelong, GWS, Kangas and maybe the Hawks will be tagging ?
this is effing disgraceful umpiring in this last quarter against Lions … disgraceful
Some of those pushes in the back not called were just laughable
What a game. Strong performances from both. Lions lose no admirers.
Neale 120 while tagged great and SDK 65 serviceable for Jam, Abs and the others who needed him on field.
Yep, would have loved an 80+ from SDK but no complaints.
Total respect for Neale. Gave away a couple free kicks out of frustration, so he easily could have gone 130+ while getting tagged!
Also ripping game tonight after trying to sit through last night’s strange snooze fest

30 disposals
21 contested possessions

VC into Collingwood next Thursday night.
Lock it in, Eddie.
Yep – huge numbers from Neale 🙂
Just been upgraded to 128 points (deservedly).
Now do we take that – or put the C on Macrae?
Lochie Neal , awesome effort in a phone box all night,
Thoughts on Stephens down to Dow (purely for cash generation, will be sat on the bench)?
Pumba, only if you believe Stephens cash generation has stopped. I don’t think he is far from best 22.
