Where and when: GABBA, 7:40pm (AEDT)
Last time they met: Rd 7, 2020: Pies 8.9 (57) def Cat 5.5 (35) at Optus Stadium
Form: Geelong: L (Tigers), W, L, W, W
Collingwood: W, L, W, L, W
Match Preview: After shutting down the Eagles’ rapid ball movement in the West last week, the Pies will be quietly confident that they can repeat the dose this week against Geelong. Historically they have faired well against the Cats who are fresh from yet another finals disappearing act against Port Adelaide.
With both these teams capable at finding the ball through the midfield, this match will likely be decided by defence. Whoever can stem the opponent’s forward line should win the match. Will Hawkins remind the AFL why he won the Coleman for 2020 or will Mason Cox get the GABBA rocking with the chant of “USA, USA”?
