Evening all . looking forward to a huge Anzac long weekend.
It took me all week to decide but welcome to the team..
Pipe Dream Pruess and Bailey Smith. ( Grundy and JHF gone. ) I may add Sicily ( for Hinge ) later in the weekend also.
That quick cash Pruess can make is just too tempting. The potential rewards makes it worth the risk . I do have him (E) on the bench looped with Xerri (through Dixon) just in case something goes bad early.
Bailey Smith is a risk I know. His pedigree, massive time ground and the success of Walsh ( they were 1and 2 that draft ) give me confidence he’s ready to Breakout. He’s super cheap if he can at least maintain his current form. The Dogs have a dream run until the byes and I need to try something different if I want to make a move up the rankings.
So Whitfield, Cogs, Pruess and Hayes for me tonight.
Its all on the line for GWS tonight and with Captain Toby back I can see them getting up in a close one.

Love the trade-ins though. Rate Bailey Smith as a POD. Doesn’t look to be slowing down, high TOG and no Hunter only aids his scoring capacity i’d think.
Hinge -> Sicily also a very strong move. Making that myself!

After all the talk preseason and 2 suspensions it’s been a big decision to get in Pruess. To be honest if Grundy hadn’t stunk it up so badly I probably would of passed. Feeling ok with a ruck line of Gawn Pruess Dixon. with both Xerri and J Hayes forward for cover.
Let’s hope Sicily can keep up his form. They love his use there at The Hawks and he’s been in everything down back this year. I considered DeGropey but even at that cheap price I think I would rather take Sicily.

For me it hasn’t been the ins but who to axe! Bowey, Rowell and JHF were all names that were on the trade table but I’m backing them in over hinge and ward.
Expect JHF and bowey to hit there BEs and praying for Rowell to turn back into that pig we saw in preseason and Rd1
I would personally keep Ward over Rowell.
Wards BE is much lower and Rowell looks terrible.
Rowells best game was V West Coast over a month ago.
He hasn’t done much since. I wouldn’t bet surprised if he re aggravated that OP injury from last year. He just looks so slow and just can’t spread to get outside ball.
Ward has taken a while to get going but his best game was last week and The Hawks have persisted with him at Centre bounce. I think he’s got a good game coming soon.

Would you put up the same case for hinge too stay then and move on bowey? Hinge isn’t named is all. I Like boweys role and believe he has another 90-100 is all. But if hinge returns next week he still has plenty too make I think

Not sure Hinge is even best 22 at this stage. As you said..Not even named as emergency. Bowey has shown a ceiling and only has one more week with that small score in his system. Hold Bowey for me.
Trying not to trade in Preuss as not wanting to lose my DPP swing but liking the $270K in the bank by doing it. Can surely trade out Preuss after he’s made some extra cash which is all important. So now thinking that I will go –

Making umpires look like sooks! Don’t point your finger at me, really. Losing respect for umpires across the board not gaining any respect.
yep – did you watch the front bar last night? Mick Molloy went to town on them / the rule … he also made the point, if they are wanting to bring the rule in to get more respect for umpires, across the grades … then they better think again because if they make these types of calls in suburban grounds they may not make it safely to their car!!
It was funny … and not something to encourage … but this is just plain rubbish … and as they said in the call in the 2Qtr … god help it if a GF is decided on this sort of trash … everyone needs to write in as fans … its the only thing they will listen to … numbers of complaints …

What the heck is up with Whitfield?? 25 points in 3/4 of a game of football? I don’t care if he drops $50,000, I am SO trading out his ass this week – probably MULTIPLE times, just to get the satisfaction. Should have done it this week, but had other issues to deal with. At this rate, I need 3 trades every week!
I try to remember if he has burnt me in other seasons as if that is the case he is getting close to the ‘Never Again’ list
I’m fairly sure he was on my “never again” list but in the late stages before Round 1, decided on him instead of Sicily/Hewett as it seemed like everyone had him and there was that fear it will hurt more NOT having him when everyone else seemed to have him. I will start a NEVER NEVER again list for next season. He will probably be the only player in it.
I feel yah Lisa – same for me … he was gone for me this week until English went down … just a pity he has played first game as I wanted to see what Preuss would offer up first before deciding whether to hold English or not …
Probably should have found a way to ditch Lachie anyway … and now as I type it I know how I could have … serves me right for being too busy with work and no time to look / make decisions …
And yes Nato, he was already on my never again list (along with other GWS players) … but somehow he still made it into my side.

So glad to discover that other right-thinking SCers are also discarding Whitfield forever (and ever, amen, FD). I too wish I had burnt a boost just to be rid of him, but time zones got the better of me.
Marshall spending a lot of time on the bike. The way it is looking is that it is a corkie and shouldn’t sideline him for future rounds.

Elevated price tag and a couple other cheaper rookies floating around probably might mean giving him a miss though.
Preuss score is a bit low no? Dominated the hit outs and most seem to advantage.
His hitouts in the 2nd half were barely to advantage. It was just stoppage after stoppage with Saints winning a few so they were sharking his hitouts
38% DE and 6 clangers (3 frees against) killed his score from going big … and one of his clangers late was a handball going 2M that missed its mark and cost them a goal …
If he cleaned up his act in that regards and some of his frees … he’ll score big scores each week. Saints were also stealing his taps a lot and Giants really need a better inside mids to pick those taps up … or work better with him …
Did you watch the game, his hit outs went to the same spot every time and st kilda were waiting for them . He’s big with no football smarts..

Preuss and Flynn both very good tonight. 3 goals between them, dominated HOs (77), early HTA work was sharp, leading contested possession getters with 12 and 10 and good line marking.
Problem was connection with the midfield who, for mine, looked flat as f*ck.
Well i watched a game where 2 big ruckman couldn’t overcome 193cm Josh Battle when game was on the line.

Gd , tell me how can a team win ho 77 to 19 and lose the game . Because the werent to advantage I would guess.
Pruess won the tap, hits to a gws mid. They bang it forward. Turnover. Saints playing two behind the ball while gws had their numbers at the contest.

Looks like Whitfield will only show up if his team is in winning form. He also only seems to show up for 1 term as rounds 4 and 5 were 1 11 disposal quarter in each game to get no more than 25 as a total.

Should l take score of Preuss via a loophole?
To do this I would need to trade Grundy and loophole Dixon into rucks. This will gives me 540k plus a hinge trade and I could bring in any premo.
