Hey folks (posted in last minute queries with no responses) – a couple of queries from me for anyone that may have some inside knowledge / thoughts:
What does everyone think of the job security of Parnell? Is he locked in for most of rest of season or covering for someone? (or is D’Ámbrosio a better JS for year)
Also, Mills has a BE of 116 – what does everyone think of his chances of exceeding that and if so, by how much? ie – do we think he beats it by enough that will see his value increase by more than say $7,000 … and if so, what would he need to score below for that?? 130? 135? 140?
Don’t know much about these guys and I do think that the bombers really like D’Ambrosio, the only question mark I have is that Parish, McGrath, Reid, all are potential ins over the next few weeks, and then Cox is back in 5 odd weeks.
I can’t see the bombers dropping a lot of other guys in the team so Massimo may be the one to make way….
Bench cover in defense is definitely an issue. I took a punt that the Dawson from North will play soon so have him as a loophole at the moment alongside Rory Thompson who hasn’t been named again dammit.
Thanks Jamhed – yeah, I’m just not sure on the best options.
I’m also keen to try and work out how much more than the 116 BE that Mills has to keep him below rising $7K in price – so if he gets 130 will that not increase by $7K??
FWIW, I have been working on a figure of around $445 per point, and it seems to have been pretty close so far, but I think the actual number changes slightly each round.
So based on this, if Mills BE is 116, he would need to score approximately 132 points this week to rise by another $7k.
This calculation may be a few points out either way though 🙂
Currently bringing in Bont, Jackson and a cheap DPP Mid/fwd to facilitate the move (but still retaining Gawn and English on the bench). Who has the better job security going forward?
I always remember Supercoach101 rule: dont pick a rookie til on the bubble! I stick by this religously, except last week. Brought in S Durdin, and we know how that went… but sometimes you have to make a gamble, and with Jeffreys and Powell long term injures, I reckon theyll play Hollands from now on
Neale has had the 4th highest rating 1st quarter this year by a Lions player so I guess that’s not going so well.
Just put Viney on him and be done with it.
I’m not so sure that Harmes really is tagging Neale, per se, despite what FF says.
I think he is just being consciously picked up at stoppages by the closest. Viney seems to take him at centre bounces for instance.
What is extremely evident, and this with the VC on him, is that Neale has been incredibly “soft” – not making any real efforts .. not throwing himself in for tackles, blocks or chasing a ball … if it’s not within a few metres of him he hasn’t been making any effort to chase a man … quite disappointing watching a previois Brownlow recipient in that sense …
He’s not alone … after their quick start and poor shots on goal for easy goals in first quarter, all of the Lions players really seem to be lacking spark / intensity. I think they are playing the Demons the completely wrong way … they are trying to do a slow short quick game … that is just playing into the Dees hands … anyways, just my thoughts / obs …
The Dees just seem to want the ball more … get to it quicker and more effort … and the little dinking kicks are giving the dees the chance to go after / intercept it …
Looks like it was Oliver that we all should have run with the VC on though it seems many did with Oliver 19.2% as VC as opposed to 18.5% on Neale as VC.
If Brisbane was playing like they were in the 1st, Neale would look like a great VC. Since they’ve barely shown up since, Neale’s score rate has dropped massively being almost 50 at 1/4 time to only be about 85 at 3/4 time.
yep – but its always an illusion with the scoring system early … it’s inflated on players early on with early, effective touches and then comes backwards as more players are awarded stats … their scaling system always drags it backwards … Neal’s efforts though have been particularly disappointing at times … particularly through the 2nd and much of the third … it’s the lack of effort, particularly in a defence way that is telling from him …
fingers crossed he has a massive last quarter … for Lions supporters, as a top of the table clash, without Gawn … its been poor from them
Geez Petracca had been incredibly disappointing bringing into my side in round 6 for Rowell … he went last week to Bont, but still not performing well … and he’s sadly still stuck in my Tech side.
Can say it is a real shame that Lyons was subbed off in the 4th term due to a collision to the sternum that occurred earlier. He is a real great player that is often unrecognised
Was really expecting a real great even game, but this has been an absolute smashing from the Dees.
I’m glad I didn’t end up going to watch this as a neutral supporter with this result
9 tackles and 21 disposals as a ruck really makes a massive difference. Only seeing 18 hitouts though would sort of question the amount of effective taps.
Probably helped that the Brisbane mids weren’t really taking many hitouts to them
oh yeah, no disputing his efforts in others areas / stats … I noted on three occasions though his score jumped as awarded effective taps – as clearly the ball went straight to a Dees players who took it out of the centre / area … and I couldn’t believe 1. how poorly Big O tapped it and 2. that they actually paid it to Jackson! … maybe the scorers couldn’t believe how cleanly either it went to Dees *wink*!!
NO LATE CHANGES

Any thoughts greatly appreciated!!
Parnell keeping Luke Brown out of the team who has been playing SANFL so JS is perilous I think.
I think Mills will pump out a big one this round.
The fact that he is in my team and has the C on him is purely coincidental
Thanks Shaggi.
I wonder how strong the JS of D’Ambrosio is in that case?
Really need one of the two (Parnell or D’Amb) to play for rest of year as bench cover in the DEF …
Don’t know much about these guys and I do think that the bombers really like D’Ambrosio, the only question mark I have is that Parish, McGrath, Reid, all are potential ins over the next few weeks, and then Cox is back in 5 odd weeks.

Thanks Brett – yep, he could actually get that … which will mean he will be too expensive for me next week … hmmm
Who to field?
TU: J.Clarke
TD: D’Ambrosio
“He’s an inside/outside mid, he’ll probably play on the wing for us tonight”

Currently bringing in Bont, Jackson and a cheap DPP Mid/fwd to facilitate the move (but still retaining Gawn and English on the bench). Who has the better job security going forward?
TU: J.Clarke
TD: E.Hollands
Hollands still only on extended bench so like last week potentially may not make final team.
Safe call is to take Clarke but no guarantees on his JS either.
Tough call. Any other options?
Not that I’m aware of. Needs to be DPP Mid/Fwd and hopefully getting games, all for sub $150k

Need to decide on ruck replacement for Preuss/English –
TU: Goldy
TD: Jackson
So Harmes is tagging Neale.
Neale has had the 4th highest rating 1st quarter this year by a Lions player so I guess that’s not going so well.
Just put Viney on him and be done with it.
He only had 3 possesions in the 2nd qtr, harmes came back well
Would help if Petracca was more effective as 56% DE with 5 turnovers has really held him back
Oliver is ontrack to making 140+
I’m not so sure that Harmes really is tagging Neale, per se, despite what FF says.

Well done to those on Oliver!!

Me: VC Neale, everyone.
*50 point first quarter
Harmes: Nah, f*ck that.
Still love your work on the Captaincy Candidates article every week GD!

And in my team

I think Jackson has received a few dubious calls of effective taps when in fact it has been Big O that has tapped it straight to Dees players …
