Game Chat – Melbourne v GWS

Written by Motts on July 3 2021

Where and when: The ‘G at 1:45pm (AEST)

Last time they met: Round 3, 2021: GWS 11.2 (68) DEF BY Melbourne 15.12 (102) at Manuka.

Last five: Melbourne 3-2, GWS 2-1-2

Match Preview: The Dees must have increased their training load recently. That’s the only thing I can think of that explains their losses to Adelaide and Collingwood in the last 5 weeks. Makes them tough to pick right now. GWS isn’t any easier. They looked great against The Eagles and Blues (admittedly Carlton that day would’ve made anyone look good) but a 10 goal loss to the Lions, a draw with lowly North and last weekend’s capitulation to the Hawks makes them harder to pick than a broken nose.

Mottsy Watch:

Melbourne
Gawn, Oliver, Petracca
GWS
Kelly, Himmelberg, Coniglio (I doubt Greene plays)
Mottsy’s Tip: Melbourne by 20 points (tipping record 31/42).

  1. Thanks Motts
I’m toying with idea of Oliver as VC as well,
My thinking is it’s likely to be wet and slippery and lots of ball ups, and Oliver is so quick by hand he might have plenty of the pill. No idea of he actually go’s in the wet?
Same could be said of Gawn RE: ball ups.
    Thoughts?

    1. Haven’t watched this game but AFL website tells me Oliver had 11 touches in last quarter and 2 tackles – that equates to 8 SuperCoach points… whaaaaa??
