  1. Here’s one for everyone:

T/U – is it better to grab points (eg Hewett / Cripps) in the hope that they are keepers (and value at low $) … or
T/D – better to grab a Xerri type at a lower price point before that first big rise and forgo one of the others??

    1. Hey Macca I think locking in the cash early to ensure you can lock in Uber premos like a macrae or Miller type rather than the high risk in hoping these guys stay as premos. While these guys are tempting now they’re a bit too much cash for me to justify going for now.

    2. Hi Macca,
I am glad that you got your own pole posted.
I was going to put up a pole post for you, after reading your comments on your other post, but honestly I just ran out of time.
      Sorry, mate.
      Cheers
      CT.

      P.S.
This mini pole looks conclusive though.

      1. cheers CT – been too busy with everything this week to look across much and was just quickly looking at a lot of the trade talks and last minute queries etc …

So I thought that may have been a good poll thread … but obviously a bit late in the week!!

Seemed like the main thing most people were wrestling with – ie grab one or two of those “potentially fallen premos or breakouts” and hopefully their scores continue and you get the points and save buying them early … or grab a rookie priced player in there …. and forgo one or two of the premos …

I think, if I interpreted Father’s thread this week, he was basically advocating for grabbing the premo type player first (ie Cripps or Hewett?) as they are very well priced, and will score more points, generally, than any rookie you have on field … so very interesting options I thought!!!

Cheers for responses CT and all who voted!!

    4. Depends who you are trading and how many premos you have.

Generally don’t trade a Premo for a rookie

And try not to fit an extra premo at the cost of cash gen and or 2nd tier premos

  2. Also down in Melbourne for the first time in a year and am very excited for tonight’s game, got a sneaky feeling swans will be too hot to handle tonight but reckon it’ll be a ripper. I am just very excited to be back in a big crowd at the footy!

    1. Got the Dogs as well.

Swans insane form, such a strong side, but SURELY the Dogs don’t go 0-3?

Got Macrae, Dunks and McCartin like everyone else as well as Dale.

Need a large one from you, Bailey.

    1. Was a top draft pick for a reason. Glad to see him actually getting the opportunity to play.

  4. Help me out please!

So i traded out Jed McEntee for Xerri but he Mcentee is name to play so undo the change and keep Jed in the squad.

TU: undo the trade keep McEntee and save a trade

    TD: Keep Xerri

        1. 21-8

So 4 frees to 1 for the last few updates as the umps try and give the game to the dogs.

  5. Swans kicking percentage is higher than dogs but that is inflated with lots of uncontested kicks down back. Swans have missed lots of targets by hand and foot and have been dominated around the contest. Lucky to still be in the contest and will need a big second half. Hickey and English have been dominating around the ground and bont has been quiet. Would love to get him as a falllen premo in a few weeks time assuming he’s fitter.

        1. They will try and even it up if the game looks like it’s over.

What I really want to see is a team walk off the ground after getting this kind of treatment from the umpires against the dogs.

They’d get fined for bringing the game into disrepute.

But no one is bringing the game into more disrepute with the umpires with such blatant imbalance. No wonder the AFL is terrified of dissent.

The best solution is honestly a national competition not VFL+++

          1. I was on your side until you bring out that VFL rubbish HH. In recent years Richmond received the worst free kick differential and the Eagles and Bulldogs the best. It was ugly tonight but not Vic bias.

            1. West Coast is pretty much the ONLY exception to the rule regarding free kicks and interstate clubs.

They have been all along too. There’s been all sorts of reasons given for that over the years from the noise of the fans (funny how home ground advantage doesn’t exist for most other clubs), umpires fearing for their life, to the AFL being terrified of upsetting the WA golden goose.

The two greatest free kick ratios in the last 25 years have been given to the Western Bulldogs and West Coast Eagles.

This is pretty easily confirmed from the AFL stats website.

Compare this to say Sydney, GWS, and for some reason St Kilda. Hating sydney is almost a Victorian sport in its own right but the St Kilda thing still mystifies me.

Richmond’s free kick differential is admittedly one of the lower ones for a Victorian club but compare it to those 3 and then get back to me with your results.

              1. 2021 Free Kick Differential.
                1. Western Bulldogs 79
                2. Geelong 33
                3. GWS 27
                11. Sydney -10
                16. Essendon -18
                17. St Kilda -34
                18. Richmond -86

These are H&A only. Pretty self-explanatory.

If you look back over a five year period a lot of clubs are in the -120 to -180 range including Sydney and my Hawks but Richmond is more like -400 and the Dogs are obviously way ahead on 300 (close to the Pies surprisingly) and just ahead of WC.

Were those the stats you wanted?

  6. Free kick count is disgusting and I’m saying this as a would be dogs supporter if I wasn’t a Carlton man

  7. Should have gone English as a Gawn replacement. Haven’t yet decided if I am trading Gawn (need funds for Cripps) or not, but if I do

TU : Gawn for Witts (R13 ruck works in with Grundy’s R14 bye)
TD: Gawn for Jackson (same bye as Grundy)

    1. I’m regretting not taking English instead of Marshall. Regardless the other stuff going on in the game it’s pretty clear that both A) he’s improved a lot and B) CD still favour the bulldogs very heavily for their scoring calculations.

        1. Yeah, probably pretty lucky in that regard.

But then again, Rioli round 1 deliberately leapt off his feet for that high hit on Rowell and was let off.

  8. English with that fend off/hit on Blakey could end up causing some nerves as a potential suspension could rise from it considering how the MRO has operated lately

    1. Given Rioli got off in Round 1 it’s unlikely anything short of attacking someone with a chainsaw deserves a week off in 2022

    1. Bont was gifted 16pts for his “Joe The Goose Goal” whilst Dunkley was penalised 3pts for it.

  9. Mills was poor that game with only 20 disposals. He might be someone that will be dropping a bit of cash in the coming weeks to become a target for coaches

  11. Comparing how favourably English was scored tonight by CD as opposed to how poorly Witts was scored last week is a disgrace and clearly shows how CD manipulate the scoring for the players they want …

    11

    12
      1. Nothing to do with that David – I have proven across the years the clear bias in scoring by scoring full quarters on players- CD do it deliberately.

I watched Witts last week closely as he is a popular target and discussion point – did you? He was totally screwed by CD and dominated against Gawn and even Jackson and clear taps to advantage were not being paid to him.

The reverse occurred tonight where English was given extremely favourable and questionable scores and was clearly being outplayed by Hickey yet Hickey was not being scored.
This was and has been commented on by more people than myself not just in the case but multiple times

  12. Miss Stephens 95 last week. So I will put him on the field this week!!!
At least starting with English is paying off.
And Macraes score means I have to choose a captain instead of banking 130 and missing a Cripps/Neale score

  13. I just realised Owen is my captain loop and stephens is my emergency. Am I better off straight off captaining Neale and JHF on field.

    No
