Stuffed my C choice by going to Neale, when Miller was on 95 at 3/4 time as my VC. Thought that was my season done in most leagues, but Merrett carried me to 7 out of 8 league wins, with a monstrous second half score!
Redman and Merrett saved my weekend from complete disaster. Nine sub-90 scores is pretty frustrating at this time of year; missing out on Rowan Marshall even more so! Managed to win half my league finals so not a complete loss.
Well I can say my season is dead. 1 match has been won and it was by 5 points.
This week had Hewett, Houston and Cogs all on the bench which hurt and then had to trade Gresham for little options. I went Tom Green as a punt since Cogs was a late out but that backfired massively. I could have gone Marshall, but his game was just a touch later.
On top of what truly hurt was the scorers of Culley, D’Ambrosio, ROB, Green, Crisp, Taranto, Short and English, all below 80…..
I had some positives in Laird, Neale, Petracca, Dunks and Blakey with his 118, but that was nothing for the amount of horror that occur to me….
5/9 wins. Was feeling ok with my Cogs bench player in Z Bailey until he went off injured, less ok with the decision to save a trade and not getting rid of Jackson for Marshall. Looks like stuck with Crisp & Short also who continue to be disappointing. and the rucks aren’t much better.
Missed a golden opportunity this round. Had the VC on Miller but made a terrible call. Also chose to bring in Blicavs over Coleman which would have almost certainly put me in the top 10 this week. SC isn’t fun when you’re near the top!
6 out of 7 league wins.
Merrets ourageous last half as captain got him a narrow win.
Copped the Culley meagre score but he will have an important role to play next week as my captains loop.
Carried Hall and Coniglio with Mc Cartin and Culley
Good to see Dunkley and Cripps go well after hanging onto them.
No trades this week. I have 1 left and $203k in the bank.
A horror week where all of the following let me down (Crisp, Short, Sicily, NDaicos, Macrae, Keays, LDU, Darcy, Witts, Bont, Goldy, Brodie, Cogs). Laird, Cripps, Brayshaw and Miller did their best to carry the can, but alas it was too much.
Lost 5/6 finals, one by a single point, if only I had fielded Khamis, who outscored 3 on field players. Thankfully 4 losses were double chances so I live to fight another day for next week.
Cogs out changed my trade plans. I still managed to get Stewart. I had to pass on Dale. I ended up keeping Darcy Cameron and trading Paddy Mac to Zorko.
Pretty happy with the result really. I will post my full team this week with my trades for the year.
2437/Miller /4723
Hewett/ Coniglio out was annoying as fielded Culley .
Hindsight a wonderful thing but Coniglio to Marshall would have been the move but Campbell out was not expected which assisted Marshall going massive .
Stewart did well back in side .
Obrien other big disappointment .
Miller , Cripps , Dunkley , Petracca , Merrett and Dawson, Parker , Stewart , Ryan , Walsh and Neale Heeney and Sinclair all tonned which leaves 9 premiums who didn’t tonne which held back score.
2428/Touk/Round 8500/Overall advanced 700 to 6800.
Not a bad result considering it includes a donut as I had no cover for Cogs.
Marshall, Miller, Laird, Cripps the shining lights.
Good score with Touk and Redman the round MVPs but can’t feel like it was a missed opportunity
Used 2 trades (now 1 left) and decided to ditch Dunkley who’d had a poor few weeks for steel
Lost 20 points on that trade plus had to field Culley with Cogs being a late out. Wishing I’d bought in Laird for Crisp via DPP and had an extra 130+ points
I also traded Dunkley out, which I immediately regretted – I don’t even want to say who I traded in for him. It was late and I was looking for a POD and saw an article on the AFL website talking about a Swan getting more midfield time; I checked his numbers and they looked good. Hopefully he can make it up for the rest of the season, because I lost over 50 points compared to if I had done nothing.
Screwed myself with loopholes and couldn’t take Laird’s VC score so just matched my opponent to be defensive and take Touk and gained points. So happy with this score despite having Hall, Hewett and Cogs stuck on the bench and Massimo covering on field. 4 defenders scoring less than 80 plus Macra, Oliver and Witts also didn’t help but made it through. Reckon I’m a real outside shot of the top 100 so will keep hoping to climb.
After Marshall 173 I thought I was tracking well until Eagles named my c loop Dixon as medical sub. You can guess the rest….2330 not so bad after all 🙁
Early start to my 2023 research.
2370/Laird. Season over in the only league I care about. Unlucky to miss top 4, then 3 outs this weekend didn’t help even with 6 trades in the bank. Of course my opponent didn’t have Coniglio or Treloar. Was tossing up between Marshall and English and went with English as Tom Campbell was named. When I had a chance to check again (5 minutes after the Saints game started), I noticed Campbell was a late out. Literally cost me my season by 5 minutes
2,394/Neale/was 18,992

2424 / Merrett

Time to start preseason planning
Is there ever an ‘offseason’ Nate?
Offseason? What is an offseason? Never heard of it 😉
2536/Marshall.
Marshall VC, Brodie covering Cogs, Merrert continues his tear. Was a solid weekend for the Burblers.
2499/Miller/1041
Marshall sitting at R3 stung a lot.
2411 / Laird / was 2,582
5/9 wins. Was feeling ok with my Cogs bench player in Z Bailey until he went off injured, less ok with the decision to save a trade and not getting rid of Jackson for Marshall. Looks like stuck with Crisp & Short also who continue to be disappointing. and the rucks aren’t much better.
2569/Laird
Was looking a a massive score at the start of Sunday but let down by Goldie, Witts, Ridley and having to field D’Ambrosio. Won 5/5 so pretty happy
2556 Merrett
team was up and about this week – Stringer finally delivered
2474 / Neale / 23.
Missed a golden opportunity this round. Had the VC on Miller but made a terrible call. Also chose to bring in Blicavs over Coleman which would have almost certainly put me in the top 10 this week. SC isn’t fun when you’re near the top!
2458/Miller/18k something.
6 out of 7 league wins.
Merrets ourageous last half as captain got him a narrow win.

2363/Miller/down to 6k

The Techie did slightly better with 2366
2550/Laird/5607
Moved up 2038 places and finished 519 for the round.
Made no trades this week and relied on Nankervis in the ruck.
Only playing 2 leagues and won them both.
Crisp, Short and Macrae stunk it up again.
Holding 2 trades for the run home.
2503 / Touk / up 1328 to 5121
9/10 league wins.
I’m still alive !
Cogs out changed my trade plans. I still managed to get Stewart. I had to pass on Dale. I ended up keeping Darcy Cameron and trading Paddy Mac to Zorko.

Your ranking and round score are the same numbers muddled up. That’s my useless bit of information to contribute.
Decent score all things considered
Good pick up Clarky
Good luck last 3 rounds .
2428/Touk/Round 8500/Overall advanced 700 to 6800.
Not a bad result considering it includes a donut as I had no cover for Cogs.
Marshall, Miller, Laird, Cripps the shining lights.
2360/Miller/ down 155 to 1,087
4/10 league wins , still in all my leagues.
Not much to say other than I’ll be seeking help for my addiction to the trade button before next year.
2518/Laird/10k
Used last 2 trades
Hewett to Stewart
Cogniglio to Bont
5/5 elimination finals, season still alive
2495/VC Miller/7343
Good score with Touk and Redman the round MVPs but can’t feel like it was a missed opportunity

2581/Miller/6
A great week, up to 6th overall! Brought in Marshall and Stewart so a onvohappy.
Only 134 points back with three rounds to go – just have to nail those captain choices!
2486/Laird/414
Fielding Culley over Cumberland to cover Cogs was my only real stuff up.
Didn’t know Cogs was out and had C Durdin on the pine who scored 1.
Still made the 2300s but kill me now
After Marshall 173 I thought I was tracking well until Eagles named my c loop Dixon as medical sub. You can guess the rest….2330 not so bad after all 🙁

2,467 for the round.
Miller captain.
1,658 overall.
Continued the upward climb with a 328 place gain. I’d like to crack the top 1,000 but will need some help with injuries and captaincy choices.
