ADELAIDE

Jordan Dawson is on track to be available to play Geelong on Saturday afternoon as he recovers from concussion.

“He has to get through full contact training tomorrow, but we expect him to do that and be available for the weekend.”

Nick Murray is also expected to be available.

“Muz missed out last week, more or less as a precaution and he’s trained really well,” Burgess said.

“Assuming he gets through training tomorrow he’ll be available, and we are expecting that to be the case.”

Brodie Smith and Matt Crouch missed last weekend’s AFL and SANFL matches due to illness but are expected to be available for selection this week.

“Brodie and Matt came down with a virus, so they weren’t able to play on the weekend,” Burgess said.

Ned Reeves (back) – 1-2 weeks

“Ned has been managing a back issue now for a little while. He had some time out a couple of weeks ago and missed a game or two. He then returned and felt fine but then again last week, he reported some discomfort so we’ve taken the opportunity to take some time out again, get some various treatments, see some other people and get some other opinions. It’s a short-term injury but we’re looking to after the VFL bye, so return to play in two weeks. He’ll resume some running this week. We’re just going through a strengthening program as well to support that and then we’ll build his football training and ruck work up the following week and then look at some game time after the VFL bye.”

Chad Wingard (calf) – test

“He’s ready to resume training with the group and has had some good conditioning and running sessions over the past week. He’ll return to football training tomorrow and then later in the week and then we’ll look to play on the weekend in the VFL. We probably won’t play the full game but we’ll look to play 70 minutes or thereabouts, some managed minutes over the game.”

Josh Bennetts (shoulder) – season

“Not great news, unfortunately. Just that shoulder incident and the subsequent damage with the scans and talking to some specialists, he’s going to need some surgery, so we’re getting it done and we’ll start a rehab plan after his surgery next week.”

Mitch Lewis (knee) – season

“Mitch’s surgery went great. He’s been back at the club and is starting his rehab process. He’s been energetic around the group, really positive and a bit of a leader in recent weeks. He’s starting that journey now. It’s a long process and no doubt there will be some times where it will be testing. He’s attacking it really well, he’s got a smile on his face and it’s good to have him around the club.”

We thought we’d try and get him to see if he could get going again in the third quarter, and he just wasn’t able to. So, we subbed him out. He’s pulled up pretty well from the game. At this stage we have to see how he trains on Thursday. So, he’s a test.”
