Adelaide

Rory Laird (Hand) 4-6 weeks with a broken right hand.

Luke Pedlar (Hamstring) Injured in practice match and awaiting scan results.

Lachlan Murphy (neck) After November surgery expected to start contact training soon.

Paul Seedsman (concussion) No timeframe of return.

Jordan Dawson (calf) and Shane McAdam ( abductor) are both expected to play round one.

Brisbane

James Madden ( knee/shin) Bruising and expected to recover for round one.

Keidean Coleman and Deven Robertson both hamstring injuries and are doubtful for round one.

Dayne Zorko (ankle) Should play round one.

Carlton

Liam Stocker (syndesmosis) Will miss round one.

Sam Walsh (syndesmosis) Will miss first 4 games.

Josh Honey (knee) 4 weeks

Caleb Marchbank and David Cuningham are longer-term injuries with ACL injuries

Jack Silvagni (shoulder) After all clear from scans available for round one.

Sam Docherty (testicular cancer) Aiming for round one return.

Corey Durdin (calf) No damage to muscle and striving for round one.

Charlie Curnow (knee),  Jacob Weitering (soreness) Harry McKay (foot) and Brodie Kemp (calf) are all available for round one.

Collingwood

Patrick Lipinski (ankle), Taylor Adams(hamstring), Jeremy Howe (groin), Isaac Quaynor (concussion) and Brody Mihocek (illness) will all be available for round one.

Charlie Dean (fractured foot) 8-10 weeks

Nathan Murphy (ankle)Nathan Kreuger (concussion/suspended) and Jordan Roughead (shoulder) will all miss round one.

Essendon

Michael Hurley (hip) and Zach Reid (foot) are long term injuries.

Jake Stringer (groin), Jake Kelly (concussion), Aaron Francis (knee soreness) and Dylan Shiel (managed) are all right to play round one.

Fremantle

Matthew Johnson (foot) will not play round 1.

Nathan Wilson (shoulder) Waiting scan results.

Rory Lobb ( bruised and sore chest)

Nat Fyfe (shoulder) and Darcy Tucker (hamstring) are expected to play round one.

Geelong

Jed Bews (concussion) waiting concussion protocols.

Mitch Duncan (calf) and Jack Henry (foot) need to prove fitness for round one.

Sam Menegola and Jon Ceglar have both increased workloads.

Gary Rohan unlikely to play soon.

Gold Coast

Mabior Chol (hamstring) Unlikely round one.

Bodhi Uwland unavailable indefinitely as he continues to recover from a stress fracture in his back.

Sam Day (wrist) returning to full training after surgery and light duties.

Ben King (knee) will miss full season after surgery on his injured ACL and has begun his rehabilitation

Charlie Constable (Abductor strain) will miss 4 weeks. He was injured during a VFL practice match.

Jack Bowes (shoulder) 6-8 weeks.“Jack is recovering very well from his shoulder surgery and will miss the start of the season but we expect if all goes well he should be available mid-season,” GC SUNS Head Physiotherapist Lindsay Bull

GWS

Conor Stone and Brent Daniel ( hamstring) To be confirmed

Daniel Lloyd (concussion) and Harry Perryman (face) both available round one.

Hawthorn

Lachie Bramble (stress fracture foot) Will miss early part of season.

Will Day (ankle) No timeframe announced.

Melbourne

Harrison Petty (calf) and  Trent Rivers (knee) not available for round one.

Adam Tomlinson (ACL) Will be available for round one.

Daniel Turner (foot) unlikely for round one.

North Melbourne

Flynn Perez (knee) and Matt McGuinness (foot) long term issues.

Callum Coleman-Jones (knee) Scans all clear.

Josh Walker (dental) Should be right for round one.

Charlie Comben (gastro) Expected to be right to play round one.

Ben Cunnington (testicular cancer) No timeframe.

Jed Anderson ( condition) Likely to miss early season.

Aaron Hall (hamstring) Recently re-joined training

Aiden Bonar (wrist) being managed having undergone surgery before Christmas

Port Adelaide

Charlie Dixon(ankle) Unlikely for round one.

Orazio Fantasia (knee) Requires more training.

Robbie Gray (hamstring) Scans were all clear.

Sam Powell-Pepper (hamstring) and Miles Bergman (shoulder) are  expected to be available

Trent Dumont (concussion) AFL’s concussion protocols after a head knock in a SANFL trial game. 

Richmond

Dylan Grimes (thumb) had surgery to repair a thumb ligament injury

Kane Lambert (hip) long term.

Jack Graham (back, hip and hamstring) unknown if available round one.

Sam Banks (quad) has returned to training.

St Kilda

Hunter Clark (shoulder) 6 weeks and Jack Billings ( hamstring) 4 weeks

Paddy Ryder (Achilles) Unlikely but will be given every chance to play Rd 1.

Jarryn Geary (shoulder) Resumed training and Dan Hannebery is a chance to play in the VFL this weekend.

Sydney

Tom Papley (hamstring) 3-5 weeks

West Coast – 26 available players.

Tom Cole (ankle cartilage) and Campbell Chesser (foot) Long term injuries. One maybe placed on  inactive list to secure another player via SSP.

Oscar Allen (foot) 4 weeks

Dom Sheed (syndesmosis), Elliot Yeo (calf), Jamie Cripps (pectoral) and Greg Clark (AC joint). All to miss start of season.

 Luke Edwards (groin) and Zane Trew (shin soreness) are on light duties.

Luke Shuey ( hamstring) Has returned to training.

Western Bulldogs

Alex Keath (shin) Kicked in shin but is expected to ready for round one.

Tim O’Brien (hamstring) Unlikely

Louis Butler (hamstring) and Riley Garcia (syndesmosis) will also have delayed starts.

Sam Darcy ( navicular stress fracture) Long term injury. Mid season return?

  2. North Melbourne: Will Phillips – diagnosed with glandular fever. Will rest this week and expected to resume training next week. Then North will assess his availability to play.

  3. Nathan Wilson has had further scans on his injured shoulder.

    Fyfe, Lobb and Tucker are all tests for match sim action this weekend.

  4. Brisbane : Keidean Coleman (hamstring) “(Scans) showed a relatively substantial hamstring strain so we will take our time with that, so it will probably be 8 to 10 weeks.” Damien Austin,HP manager

  5. Collingwood: Nathan Murphy will undergo surgery this week to repair the ankle he dislocated against Greater Western Sydney in the AAMI Community Series on Sunday.
    Earliest return is May but could be longer.

  6. Western Bulldogs : Josh Bruce and Toby McLean – both ACL’s and not expected to play AFL before late 2022.

    1. I have been checking the Health and Safety Protocols and as far as I can determine it is for 7 days.
      He should be right to play but missing training is not ideal.
