Is Simpkin going to get tagged by Keays this week? If so, he could be worth a trade to make about 100k because he’ll drop even more in price
I think he’ll get tagged. No Cunnington and clubs choosing not to tag Higgins means Simpkin is gaining more attention unlike earlier in the season.
I also think he is playing injured with an ankle issue.
I have traded him out this week and upgraded to Macrae
I’m trading him to Treloar struggling with the ankle and can’t shake a tag atm and bleeding cash
So many queries…so many trade plans….it’s enough to have me opening a bottle of red, and it’s only Wednesday! The next month is going to be hectic, and for coaches on the ball, plenty of opportunity to improve their overall rankings. With teams only released the night before each game, and lockouts in play, it’s going to be a hell of a ride, so buckle up everyone, and good luck to all coaches.
So, in order to be able to do one upgrade this week, with 2 downgrades, one of these needs to be gone from my team –

I gave a thumbs up as you’ll just feel much much better getting rid of Smith rathervthan Bewley. Definitely an emotional decision rather that strategic.

I know what you mean Shaggi – I have had Smith traded out all week, just because I don’t want to see his mediocrity in my team, but leaning more towards keeping him for 2 reasons – his DPP and no bye.
Your tolerance level is far greater than mine!
I’m going to hide him on the bench….and trade him out of my tech team instead.

If Cahill is named for the Bombers tomorrow night, thinking my 3 trades will be Williamson > Close and McInerney > Cahill via DPP. Like the fact that Essendon has some injuries which is good for Cahill’s JS and the Bombers have already had their bye. Gives me enough cash to turn Dev Smith > Petracca. Thoughts?

My original plan for this week was to do 2-up, 1-down but not sure if that’s still the best plan with some reasonable rookies available. I’ve already brought in BSmith this week, and am pretty set on Georgiades for my downgrade.
TU – Sounds good, bring in another premo (probably Whitfield).
TD – Rookies may be scarce soon, bring in another now and save the upgrades for the next two rounds (d/g would be Cameron for R/F coverage or maybe Ling?).
I have heaps of cash (695k – I know, I know but I’ve had to put fires out week after week with non-playing rooks and injuries) as well as trades (23 left before doing the above). Here’s my train-wreck of a team, if it sways your decision:

Can someone clarify what happens if you have two emergencies selected in the midfield for example.
If a player on the field doesn’t play you get the lowest of the two scores of the emergencies and if two players on the field don’t play you get both scores of the emergencies.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Saturday team lineups won’t be announced until Friday night guys. For all matches for the next 3 rounds, teams will only be announced the day before the game.

IMHO, much as it pains to say, I think you have to seriously consider holding D Smith – he plays each week, has had his bye, and realistically shouldn’t miss any matches …
I think you have to have a look at cash generation now of rookies … and the ones being named now aren’t necessarily going to be a s good as the ones that already have played / are playing … thus will they keep playing?
How much cash have you got for upgrades?
If like my rookies, then none have grown enough yet to be worth offloading … it wont generate enough to get full premos and i’ll run out of trades trying to do so …

Are most people holding off on making any trades at this stage to ensure that we have enough trades to make moves if multiple players are out.

Do you need a non playing sub on your bench in order to do this? I currently have aarts as emergency and rankine and budarick on the field.
You need a non playing FWD to have on the field to get Aarts score as emergency. If Budarick or Rankine, or any other onfield forward is not in, you’ll also be able to take Aarts score.
Regarding rolling lockouts… will there be a window to trade between CAR v HAW final siren and ESS v BRL first bounce tomorrow?
possibly, but it would be very small! I wouldn’t recommend waiting right until the final siren to do so…

I should have traded in Martin last night. That decision is going to haunt me. Why Oh why did I change my mind.
The fear of no trades left with many teams yet to be announced. Fear of trading players who may still play for players who might not.Arrgg
Chaos Theory, You can still get Martin relatively cheap. You miss that 185 but it is his first 140+ score since R4 2018 so we can safely say it was a one off. Shame you didn’t back your guts but all is not lost.
I did more 3 trades tonight as wanted to trade in Petracca, and needed the 3 to do it. Now I cross my fingers & hold my breath, but have coverage on the bench to cover a small bit of team announcement carnage.
Geez I’ve started the round horrendously. No Martin, no Macrae, have Smith, Bont, Viney, Petracca, oooooof. My team might just be rubbish haha.

Have Brodie, he’s not a bad option. I think you have to go Hurn based on price point. I don’t think McPherson is a bad option either given he’s going to be taking Doedee’s points, if you want to think about it like that
McPherson may be awkward depending on your other defenders though, i’ve also got Egg as D6 so there isn’t anyone I would want to trade to Stewart next week for example

Honestly quite stuck with what to do this round. I’ve made the one trade bringing in Bailey Smith.
Two trades left, I’ve highlighted the blokes who are in the frame to be traded. Obviously need to fill a defensive doughnut and will need to bring in Close.

Why on god’s green earth do you still have Heeney? Wasn’t he ruled out for the season in like round 3?

Hey champ he’s only missed the past two games had more pressing trades the past two rounds. The plan was to trade him in an opportune manner this week to Shiel however Doedee stuffed me but should have traded Heeney to Smith but forgot about the no reverse after lockout.
Well, if you bring in Close for Heeney then to avoid a def donut you could upgrade Hill or Rivers. Does that give you enough for Lloyd? Otherwise Hurn/Saad. Then next week look to get another premo into you midfield.

This allowed me to hold Doedee & Hill on the bench. But, I want to see the Sunday teams before making the third trade. What time will the Sunday teams drop is it the same time as normal 6-6:30?

I’m bringing in Stewart a week early, by trading out Brander. I’m holding Doedee for now as he should return next week. Doedee will be treated as my D6 and will likely upgrade him if I have the chance when it is their bye
I m looking at Stewart to NATO but after he drops in price . Break even of 163 this week so will be more affordable next week
Looking to trade Brander, not a fan of McKay as he is a key defender and don’t see him maintaining his scores so down to two:

Duncan won’t likely drop too much due to his 148 last week
Huge raps on Keane but prefer to see him play 1 round first .Reid is waiting in wings and think Collingwood will rotate some players with 4 games in 14 days .
If Keane performs this week he holds his spot though .
