Last Minute Queries – Round 12

Written by Dane on June 2 2023

Here they come, the byes are upon us. If you’ve got 18, that’s the goal, anymore is better so that those dud scores drop out.

Melbourne vs Carlton to kick us off in a few short hours time, use this thread for any last minute issues.

  1. Hi guys just wondering if Ziebell to Ridley is too sideways or if my thinking is reasonable. Can pocket $130k, which would help me to bring Clarry back in after his bye, and it also fixes my bye structure a lot. 10 trades and $330k left after trades made, with 4 relatively easy upgrades to be made to complete team. Thanks!

    T/U: Do it
    T/D: Save the trades

  2. Davey to Wardlaw? I was thinking of Cincotta to Wardlaw but now he is playing

    TU: Yes
    TD: No

    1. Davey could play too Scott (extended bench) he obviously isn’t exactly ripping big scores but with Walla omitted this week I think he is a chance to come back in.

Wait for final teams around 5 tonight and reassess.

  3. So my plans are as follows but not set on them by any means…

    OUT: ginbey JVR Roberts
    IN: Ford wardlaw Briggs
    BANK: $270k

So my biggest question is trading roberts -> wardlaw worth the trade and $50k outlay to get up to him? Gets me an extra number this week but I already have 20 anyway..

Also Feel like I’m trading out 2 fat cows to not get much bank in return for upgrades or even a premo onfield… not completely sold on Briggs either with Flynn named emergency again he’s only one bad game away from getting his arse dropped faster than staker 10 years ago.

Would love some feedback and advice, thanks all

    1. Ridley is probably the Best Buy under $450K atm.

I still think Ridley will be a bit up and down this year. Saying that The Bombers probably have the easiest draw in the back half of the season, so Ridley will still have some big games. I’d say he goes ~95 average from here which is great for his price.

    1. I like Witts here Mont.

He has the best Bye. He did his best work through the middle if the year last year.Tap ruckman like Witts thrive on wet conditions and don’t rely as heavily on marks and possessions around the ground. The Suns midfield is constantly improving, and will get better again when Touk comes back. I actually wouldn’t be surprised if Witts is the best scoring ruck going forward this year.

With Grundy fit, Max is still forced forward too much. This wasn’t such a problem when the weather was fine. Heading into winter, bad conditions will limit Gawns marking and hence kill his scoring. I would pay up for Witts.

  4. Should I trade Marshall to Briggs to mean that I am full premo after the byes, however Marshall will become D. Cameron.

Otherwise will have Marshall but will be fielding Mitchell in the FWD line potentially for 2 weeks after the byes.

    1. To add, what is everyone’s thoughts of Cameron? If he can go 100+ I think it’s worth the punt…

  5. Contemplating Briggs. My rucks are Marshall & English with Madden at R3. I’ve checked the byes and by trading in Briggs, moving Madden to fwd bench, Briggs helps scoring with being onfield this week but R13 & R14 he will be stranded at R3 with my 2 rucks playing. I would need to trade him out R15 for warm bodies. So thinking he is not worth using the 2 trades to get him in then out, for only one week of scoring. Even though his price may increase by the predicted 100K. I still have 4 upgrades to make with 17 trades left. Thoughts?

TU – trade in Briggs, that cash generation is gold with not many new rookies on the horizon.
TD – don’t worry about Briggs.

    1. I’m in a similar position with Marshall and English and I’m passing.

With Cincotta back making a bit of cash, I think I can just finish a team. I will probably only have 4-5 trades left so don’t really want to spend 2 on potentially making $150K on a player I only field for the one week. You do have a few more trades than me so it could work.

I would try and plan your next four upgrades and see if you need the cash.

  6. Is it worth bringing in Wardlaw in the hope last week was an aberration playing Collingwood?

    1. I think Wardlaw will be solid going forward. The main difference in his scoring last week was a lack of tackles. The Pies try to keep the ball moving at all costs and are a very low stoppage side. There simply wasn’t as many opportunities for Wardlaw to tackle in the Pies game. I think as he settles he should average 70+

If you get him I would plan to hold him as I’m not sure he will make enough money quickly to flip him at his bye. He would need tow big scores as his 43 will stay in his rolling average for a few weeks.

  7. No cash in the bank. Is Wardlaw worth two trades?
17 trades left. Can’t field a full side this week, playing the top side in my cash league

TU Sharp & Roberts for Wardlaw / Mullin (JS might not be great?)

    TD save the trades

    1. You gotta trade Ryan. His BE is 101 and his role is cooked now Nank is back. He will most likely lose ~$20k this week.

Sharps price wont change and he is probably only one injury off getting back into the Brisbane side. He will hopefully pop up and play in the harder Bye rounds.

  8. Already got 18 on field this week and bringing in Ford. Do I bring in Briggs or Wardlaw (can get either with dpp for Roberts) or save a trade?

    TU: Wardlaw
    TD: Briggs
    Comment: Save trade

  9. Seamus Mitchell is OUT, with illness!!
How’s this going to affect and change peoples trades?

  10. 20 trades and 110k in the bank. Darcy is going but who for (byes not a factor)

  11. No Mitchell = not good.

TU : Trade out Wilmot this week
TD : or better to trade out Simpson this week – in case he is the sub and drops more in price?

  12. Mitchell out changes things for me, wasn’t going to go down the Briggs path, but if I potentially trade out Mitchell now (which is was doing after next week anyway) and bring Briggs in then it gives me the same cover I would have had with Mitchell and hopefully Cameron shows enough in next couple weeks to flip Briggs for him once his bye if done…..
    Hmmmmm……

  14. Was thinking of one upgrade this week to Dawson. Ownership of 44% so it hurts not having him when he goes BIG. He has a BE of 130.
But looking at BE’s, I can see Ridley with a BE of -5. Seems to be going ok and has the same bye as Dawson. This is for my final DEF spot.
Thinking that the $164,500 price difference could be really helpful when I try to trade Oliver back in.

TU : Trade in Dawson – he is worth the extra $164,500 and find another way for Oliver
TD: Take a risk on Ridley and enjoy that extra cash (and maybe look at Dawson later – as a MID )

    6

  15. Mitchell too

TU: Laird now and Dcam post bye – pass on Oliver
TD Dcam now and one of Laird OR Oliver post bye.

  16. With Sicily and Mitchell out and trading in Wardlaw and Ford I have 17 on field.I have Davey and Simpson which 1 or both could be sub.
TU.Do I trade these 2 and just run with 17 this week
Td Trade others and keep 1 for sub score but lose money
Other byes will have minimum 19

  17. Need to trade one of Atkins or S Mitchell to get me Dawson this week (must have imo).

With mitchell a late out however im still thinking i should hold him and trade atkins? Mitchell can still make $20k next week while atkins could actually lose money this week if he has another bad game.

Then in R14 i may only have $520k instead of $550k to upgrade him and weddle to a premo. Ill still be able to field 18 this week if i held mitchell.

Tu: keep mitchell, trade atkins to get dawson
Td: keep atkins, trade mitchell to get dawson

  18. Bring in
    Tu: Briggs
    Td: wardlaw

Could really use the cash saved going wardlaw now de goey has a couple weeks off.
