  1. Hi all.

For what is essentially and unashamedly for the money as neither player gets on the field or is an emergency.

Is a trade from Finn maginness to Dow of the Thomson variety worth while.

The way I see it Finn is going to make about $6k this week and do not see him making any serious points and thus cash in the long term. Dow is predicted to make $38k this week and similar if not more next week. He has the ton last week so will stay in the mix for a couple of weeks. Only really needs another decent score to make $100k in three weeks.

Everyone talks about $150k profit being the line in the sand but what if I already have and did have the required rookies from round 1.

Have made two trades for the Season being ward to lipinski r1 and Whitfield to hewett r2.

Not having to do the usual rookie or injury trading has given me a very itchy trade finger.

Have next week planned as being rachele, McDonald or even maginness or Stephens to preuss via dpp.

    Am open to comment.

Option is Rioli are better choice than Dow.

    1. Mark I’d hold off on that. You’ve done well but Dow’s JS is not great, perhaps less than FM, and FM will continue to slow burn and will jump with just one decent score. In the mean time that saved trade will be ready for the next must have rookie e.g. Tsitas opens with a couple of great games.

  2. Nic Martin too come in

One of the following has too go
    TU: Stephens
    TD: ward
    Cmnt: Rachele

    Cheers

  3. Is Nic Martin a must get this week?

    Trade out K.Baldwin for Martin

    TU – Get it done
    TD – Save the trade

    3
  4. Whitfield to English?
Gets Hayes off field (currently R2), and one of Hinge/McCartin will take Whit’s spot at D6.

  5. Berry our for Xerri as a “corrective” trade?

Feels like a no-brainer – Berry gonna make another ~$50k over a month if he continues on as he is, Xerri making $50k this week if he scores 75+ and hopefully $120k or more over the next month. Impending DPP status also helpful, and the trade will allow me to shift a M/F DPP into the middle for a bit of flexibility too.

Any compelling reasons not to pull the trigger?

    1. Berry has good JS and a role that can deliver a decent score for that 3 week stimulation to value. Xerri is I feel a must have. I’d be looking at other avenues but hard to advise with knowing the full team & bank balance.

      1. Only aternatives I can see would be downgrading Witts or Rowell, or sideways trading Rachele. Berry seems to have the least upside of that lot.

Crisp, Hewett, Bowey, Chapman, Hinge, McCartin (Gibcus, SDK)
Macrae, Oliver, Miller, Neale, Cripps, Rowell, Berry, Daicos (JHF, Stephens, McDonald)
        Grundy, Witts (Dixon)
Dunkley, Heeney, Butters, Cogs, Brodie, Hayes (Rachele, Martin)

        $60k in the bank.

Gut feel is that it would be better to sideways trade Berry and pocket $25k rather spending $50k to sideways trade Rachele.

        1. Your team looks very solid and capable of good $ growth. My advice would be to hold the trade and forego Xerri. He would be nice but in the end its reasonably sideways in terms of points and $ growth, which has to be valued against the worth of the trade up the sleeve. Good luck either way.

  6. Hi, first time poster here.

Last week went Gawn to Witts which allowed Whitfield to Cripps and Mitchell Cox to Hewett. Got 32 trades now.

Thinking of being aggressive and using 3 trades again to go Grundy to English, Rachele to a cheap rookie and then Berry to Green? Worth it or gonna burn thru trades to quick?

Hope to get some advice, cheers.

    1. Muzza, last week you got rid of Gawn(big mistake) now you want to get rid of Grundy. Don’t make the same error, keep your Guns buddy.

  7. DEF: Crisp. Ridley, Hewett, Bowey, McCartin, Gibcus (Sinn, O’Driscoll)
MID: Macrae, Oliver, Steele, Neale, Crippa, JHF, N.Daicos, Ward (D.Stephens, Hollands, C.MacDonald)
    RUC: Gawn, Grundy (Dixon)
FWD: Dunkley, Butters. Cogs, Brodie, Xerri, Rachele (Durdin, N.Martin)

Last week I traded out Whitfield, Berry & SDK > Bowey, Crippa & Xerri
$57,000 in the bank, 32trades left
Any advice or feedback is greatly appreciated!!

  8. Need to trade out Tarryn Thomas, who’s the premo to replace him with?

    TU: Dunkley
    TD: Heeney/Taranto/English

    18

    1
  9. Stephens is dropped is it that clear cut to axe him for Martin or is ward still the one too go? I definitely prefer stephens scoring power when he plays but when Is he recalled?

I have 40 min to decide cause this affects my VC loop.
Keeping Stephens means a get a better look than my Friday night loophole player..

TU: trade Stephens his not coming back
TD: trade ward he can’t score to save himself

    5

    3
    1. Stephens will be back, quality young player horse just makes sure you earn your stripes and he was not himself last week, i have the same dilemma and i am keeping him and dicing Rachele for martin- gotta be brave and small forwards can get burnt at the best of times.
      Hope that helps

  10. Having buyers remorse on Luke Jackson. Not a keeper imo. Trade to Heeney as a correction?

  11. Hi all, thoughts on the following?

Chapman and Berry > O’Driscoll and English (via Cogs DPP)

McCartin will move to D6 if I do these trades.

    TU – Yes, do it
TD – No, not worth it

    5

    7
  12. Nic Martin being a must have I was going to trade Rachele to him as it looked the only option. Now Stephens getting omitted, Should I do Stephens to Martin instead?

    TU: Rachele to Martin
    TD: Stephens to Martin

    1

    11
  13. I have Elijah Holland’s as a possibly playing loop in my fwd line.

Should I keep him in case he’s named and keep my loop. Or swap to martin? (no cash generated)
    Or
Trade out Stephens for martin and get the cash now.

    2

    8
  14. Trade Mcgovern to Dixon and bank 150K?

TU/Yep do it Dixon has Job Security

TD/ Pass you already have 3 R/Fs + Xerri to get it soon

    4

  15. With Oliver VC stinking it up last night, who gets captains duties.

    T/U Macrae

    T/D Dunkley

    Comment Miller.

    14

    5
  16. TU: Luke Ryan to Short
td: Wait another week to see Ryans role

Will only be my second trade for the year. Was thinking of getting Cripps but that would leave me with 3 rookies in DEF and my other premos are Ridley and Whitfield (who both I am uncertain about as well)

    3

    8
    1. Short, Ridley and Whitfield are all the Rd 12 bye. so making that trade seems unwise. Wait until the byes to get short or sideswap Whitfield if he’s that important.

A better option if you are doing that Swap is Jordan Dawson. Not a Rd 12 Bye. Plays outside mid so won’t get tagged and has Essendon this week who leek big scores to midfielders so may be the cheapest he gets in a while.

Doing a 2nd correction trade is very justifiable. just go towards security. LLoyd is also a great option if you wait 1 more week

      2

      1
      1. I never take into account for the byes (which goes to show why I tend to slide during them every year lol). I don’t mind the Dawson choice at all. Very sound advice, I appreciate it.

        1

        1
        1. The biggest thing with bye planning is just don’t have too many rd 12 players. Or if you are more careful at least 5 primos per round.

You have up to 4 trades per bye right now if you want to sideswap a premium then (if you have trades to use you can do so by going to players who have already had their bye. And gain +1 premium score

People generally say don’t correct primosonly dead rookies, but if you budget 2 trades for corrections (most people do) then I don’t see the issue if you do one on a primo because you got all the rookies

This season a lot of highly owned players have the RD12 bye (short, Ridley, Whitfield, Hewett, Cripps, butters, Cogs, Pruess. )

          DPP helps

  17. Can’t decide whether to hold Berry or trade to Green. Only used one trade this season so far.

Can somebody please give me a good argument for either case – hold or trade??

    1

    5
    1. GA Trade: Both Green and Berry are undervalued so you aren’t losing cash growth by trading. What you are getting is a 500k Premo mid keeper and trading one in early gets you the average points difference x rounds so say 30 points x 20 rounds = 600 points.

GA Against: Leon Cameron, Breakout = Unproven scoring. GWS has players to come back into the side (Green + Others and his role may be effected). Round 12 bye doesn’t allow for a correction over the byes and most of us have too many keepers on that line already

      2

  18. Owens & Sheldrick to H.Dixon & O’Driscoll
Wanted to save trades this year, but these two guys don’t look like getting back in the side any time soon.

    1

    1
    1. I’m keeping owens. It’s nice to have a mid loop and he’s been doing well enough in the VFL that he will probably come back in at some point.

O’driscolls job security doesn’t look great and he’s not getting huge scores. This doesn’t seem the week to make that move

    1. Nothing, just a Sunday game an blues have named an extended bench. If his fit he’ll play and I haven’t heard anything to say his not

  19. Still haven’t made any trades this week and am wondering if I should do so;

    In the bank: $238,400

    DEF: T.Stewart, A.Hall, J.Ridley, D.Houston, J.Bowey, P.McCartin – M.Hinge, S.De Koning
    MID: T.Miller, J.Steele, C.Petracca, L.Neale, W.Brodie, J.Homer-Francis, N.Daicos, J.Ward – D.Stephens, J.Mead, B.Hough
    RUC: B.Grundy, L.Jackson – J.Hayes
    FWD: I.Heeney, Z.Butters, S.Coniglio, T.Xerri, C.Curnow, N.Martin – J.Rochele , C.Durdin

Can you see any suggestions or just leave it?

    1

    1
    1. Maybe downgrade Stephens to a cheap bubble rookie so you have enough cash to get Oliver in a couple weeks time with a cow that has finish mooing?

      1

      1
      1. yeah have barely traded, (32 trades left) I just haven’t been pumping out the scores I would like too i.e 1980 last week. I think Stephens would be back at some point and already have a decent kitty in preparation for Oliver in the coming weeks, think I will leave it.

  20. Is there any way we can find out if Jack Hayes has actually been named to play for Sandringham (like we found out for Dylan Stephens earlier today)?

Need to find out in the next hour or so – before the Geel vs Bris clash.

I would prefer to use Jack Hayes for the VC/C loophole (rather than Stephens) – as Hayes / St Kilda is a much later game.

But definitely don’t want Hayes to be a late in – or to be used as the medical sub 🙁

    Thanks.

    1

    0
  21. This may be a stupid question so apologies. If Hayes is made the emergency sub this round do we only get his price rise if he actually gets put on the ground?
TU Yes only if he’s subbed in and scores
TD No we get the price rise even if he doesn’t get on field.

  22. Thoughts on Stephens down to Dow (purely for cash generation, will be sat on the bench), now he’s maintained his spot with Prestia back in the side?

  23. More Rain for Sydney today. Thinking of changing C from Mills.
    For Cappy:
    T/U: Mills
    T/D: Dunkley
    Thx

  24. Parish > Heeney plus bank 100k for a further upgrade.

Heeney should finish a top 6 fwd, Parish probably won’t be top 8 mid and leak more cash.

    TU: Good trade
    TD: Hold

    1

    9
  25. Who will score more points to the end of the season?
    T/U – Whitfield and Lipinski
    T/D – Blakey and Cripps

    5

    7
  26. Anyone got any news on why Elijah Holland’s not getting a game? I’ve had him from the start and he’s been a handy loophole player but….

    1

    0
  27. Keep Rowell or use your ample cash and a trade to swap to Cripps. Worried so many now have Cripps it will cost me if he keeps this up. Trying to mitigate risk.

TU: Keep Rowell at this point, Cripps will slow or get injured.
TD: Get Cripps in, likely to finish top 8 mids

    7

    1
  28. Here’s my team:
    DEF – Short / Ridley / Sicily / Hewett / Chapman / McCartin // Hinge / SDK
    MID – Macrae / Oliver / Neale / Cripps / Rowell / Brodie / JHF / Daicos //
    Stephens / Ward / Long
    RUC – O’Brien / Witts // Hayes
    FWD – Dunkley / Butters / Jackson / Coniglio / Xerri / N. Martin // Dixon / Rachele

    Here’s my dilemma:
I have 300k in the bank after some pre-round 3 trades (I’ve used 3 total). I want to upgrade someone but there’s no obvious trade-out target. I’m going for overall and after last round, I moved up inside the top 5k. So my questionnaire has two parts.

    Part 1
TU – you can hold that $ for a week or two to snag an uber premo.
TD – of course you need to upgrade immediately – sitting on $ is wasting points!
(see next post regarding which immediate upgrade you would make).

    0

    0
    1. Part 2

TU – Stephens -> T. Green (Brodie to forward line to loop with Martin)
      TD – Rachele -> English

My concern with Green is that he’ll get shuffled around because Leon Cameron thinks he’s clever and he may see less work when Greene comes back round 6. With English, I’m kinda worried Bevo brings Stef Martin in as a 2nd ruck – I think English still gets enough of the ball around the ground, but he may drop a few points.
