Most Traded: Round 1

Hi all, quick review this week as allocating League teams is Priority one today. That said for those of you without access to Gold, please find the snips of the stats for your info. At worst this week you can just compare your thoughts witth those of the coaches who have voted with finger, giving players the flick already. Does it help you decision making?

Not surprisingly, Errol Gulden features in seven of the most traded lines from the top ten trades. From those top ten trades alone, he has been dismissed from 31k teams, and 47k teams so far. Given he’s in over 70k of teams, some are cautiously awaiting more data this week due to best 18 being suitably covered. Personally, I’m still waiting as I have 23 playing (pending team drops) and it may be advantageous to gram a player coming off a bye so that he’s there right through to mid season. Thinking Max Holmes for instance.

Coaches opting to trade to bye free players have jumped on Caleb Serong (over 11k) and Milan Murdock (over 9k). My thoughts on Freo, although on limited data, are the points are being shared a bit more this year and someone is probably missing out each game this year, think Brayshaw last week, think Young forward because they have the extra coverage with the likes of Luke Jackson and Murphy Reid. Also bear in mind, Brayshaw and Young took big backward hikes in the last quarter whereas Caleb Serong snatched 80 points in the quarter. Not saying he is not capable each week, but are 80 point quarters a regular “thing”? This may be a reason that 20 thousand coaches are waiting the extra week for a little more data.

On the flip side of that, a rookie who comes and tons up on debut is a rare commodity. Still don’t think it hurts to wait and see before committing as we all know the history jumping on early. Kudos to those who nabbed Murdock last week and hope you gain the benefit of a two in a row scenario and grab the huge amount of cash on offer, even though it is still on offer next week before his third game.

Hayden Young is being dumped by 8k coaches in a move that reeks of rage or panic trade. Written up as the almost must have pre season, pending being named R1, he came out of the gates on fire racking up 90 in three quarters before being down graded due to lack of influence playing forward in the last quarter when the game was there to be won, and wasn’t. I’m hanging on for sure, even if he’s rested because I would like another week to sort relevant data as it relates to my (at this stage, poor) team. Rash decisions may not be in my best interest early. (As a side note, started the same way last year at 76k rank and tried sticking to rational decisions, not point chasing, and worked my way up 2k ranking).

My thoughts, for what they are worth, is you do not get rid of Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera at this stage despite a potential big price drop. You picked premos for the premo reason. He is in a little bit of role dilemma currently, but once that is sorted out, you are going to wish you’d kept him, unless you managed to upgrade to the Bont, Max or some one of that ilk, and go back to him later when he may be cheaper.

As for the rest, reasonable to go that way given how the scores unfolded. Keep an eye on teams for the POU because I think he stays if named, but the others could well make way for improving your cash potential with the hot ones you might have missed at the start, especially if they played round zero and are on the bubble, eg Jaques, Lombard etc

Anyway, thanks for reading although it is only a summary analysis this week. Plenty of room for comments at the bottom so don’t be shy, let’s have your thoughts.
