They say no plan survives first contact with the enemy, and that’s certainly true of SuperCoach. With most of us making at least a couple of corrective trades over the first two rounds, it’s fair to say that not everything has gone to plan.
Just how much hasn’t gone to plan for you?

Looking ahead to this week, do you still see things that need fixing, or are you happy with your team at the moment?

Two injuries and two rookie corrections.
fun fun 😀
2 trades after round 1 to fix Danger and Rowell,
Ummed and ahhed about round 2 and decided on a couple rookie correction trades, which in hindsight was a bad idea as Cox from Essendon was one of my outs. 🙁
Would have been better off saving the trades. No injuries this week to deal with and have all the rookies I want, just need Highmore to be named again and I will sit tight this week.
28 left with Danger and Rowell the outs after Rd 1. Depending on rookie selection might need to trade someone out to Chapman but will give him a miss if not required
I’m still not convinced Tex can consistently post high scores.
Should I trade him in this week?
TU – Yes
TD – No (The ship has sailed)
If you think he can average 95+ from here on then bring him in. Last 3 rounds mean nothing except giving you data to base a decision off of
Down to 26. Should’ve traded out Dow instead of sidewaysing Cripps but oh well, still love making rookie errors.
I’m trying to hold on trades this week, the only potential trade in is Chapman of Highmore/Kosi don’t play.
Going for Overall so I cannot afford to carry passengers. Cut off Dangerfield, Rowell and Caldwell, sitting nice on 57 overall but I don’t have Ridley and Impey and it’s hurting.
I have May as a pod and
Should I go: TU
May—>Ridley
Atkins —> Impey
TD: hold. It’s sideways trade
Comment please
Hmm. I actually think May and Atkins are solid picks, Jeannot.
Atkins is plodding along nicely and can be turned into any FWD premo you want in a few weeks and May was only quiet last week because the Giants kicked just the 2 behinds, depriving him of his usual points from kick ins.
That said, if feel you can’t maintain your impressive rank without Ridley then yeah those trades are serviceable – I’m burning not having Ridley as well lol.
Jeannot
Congrats on a great start.
It seems you maybe trading for trading sake. As much as Ridley looks like a must have now. The stats suggest re will regress to his normality at some stage.( 110-115) I’m pretty sure he can’t keep going at 135+ That means theres some sub tons coming.
He faces the Swans this week. I’m pretty sure they won’t be making it easy for him. Then he has Brisbane and Collingwood.
If you truly believe he can buck the odds and maintain the rage, then go for it.
I would be looking at saving the cash and keeping May for now. There’s some proven scorers with pretty high B/E’s like Daniel, Ryan and Stewart
You could look at replacing May with one of them in the next week or two if May doesn’t improve.
The Atkins to Impey trade I don’t mind. ( I’m going Dow to Impey)
Impey seems to have the SC friendly H/B role. I feel like Atkins made way for Duncan this week in that similar role. They may have just been easing Duncan back into things in the backline. I still think Selwood or Duncan will play H/B at stages this year. Remember, Menegola this week and Danger the week after back on the ball.
I just can’t see Atkins stats going North.
Best of luck whatever you decide.
Thanks, FT. Sounds advice
I hope so.
I know the temptation to trade is strong. Its a long year though and that trade + $ in the bank might just mean you snare a cheap mid early. All these guys have already had some of there low scores for the year. So now have high BE’s
Titch 153
Oliver 169
Bont 127
Merrett 144
Most, if not all of these guys ,will most likely be cheaper than Ridley is now,at some stage in the next few weeks.
Its a long game, not a sprint.
Best of luck.
Jeanot hunter i saunders mc and kosi are more worrying issue
Mick , Saunders is actually my loophole. He is the 4th picked player in my team after the 3 potential Captains. Every year I realise that the Captain loophole is as valuable to my team as my captain score. He is not there to make money so, I hope Kosi and Hunter make me some. Happy to wait and not waste a trade there.
2nd overall after R1. I had to go hard. Currently 673rd. Down to 26 and using 2 this week.
Motts you made us proud having you up there. I think it is ok to go hard the first 3/4 rounds if it means ending up with a competitive team that needs little care but upgrades
Currently ranked 5500ish with 26 trades left.
I’ll give Row 1 more week before I trade him to Waterman.
My cows are grazing nicely so I’m trying to save my trades before the Flynn,Meek,Marshall, Treacy conundrum comes into effect.
No thumbs up
No thumbs down
Did I say something wrong
Currently 28, Rowell and bringing in Jordon for Jones
This week two, forced by Hayden Young being out
H Young and T Phillips to Jiath and Impey. I’d have done nothing if Young wasn’t out, but that combination is worth doing I think.
Nice one FD
I went Rowell to Heeney.R2
Then Sharp and Neale to Jordan and Brayshaw last week.
This week looks like H Young and Dow to Impey and CJ.
I’m really hoping to hold from here for a while.
Rookies / low price, on field.
D5/6 CJ and J Clark
M5-8
Gulden,Jordan, Powell, Berry.
F3-6
Ziebell, Impey, Campbell, Warner.
Used two so far:
Danger -> Dusty
Jones -> McDonald
Would have liked to go Koschitzke -> Chapman this week, but short 4k. Just need Highmore to return or Kos to hold and I’ll be fine.
GD, Kos is a bag away to make money. He dropped few last week, if named, he could kick few goals and save you a trade.. I am holding him. Chapman looks great but i am not convinced of his JS
I’m almost certain Kos gets dropped this week, Jeannot. Drops and fumbles too much, think they replace him with O’Brien.
Chapman’s JS could be okay? Young (out for a while) will be replaced by Logue, then only Hamling in 2 – 4 weeks threatening Chapman. FT might have some insight.
Can’t trade anyway, short 4k.
Don’t see us dropping Kosi just yet GD
Wouldn’t have played him against the cats to drop him against freo / expecting Clarko to see if him and Lewis gel well together.
Would like to see Cegs dropped ahead of him for Timmy if anyone.
Yeah, Abs? Hmm.
I’d have thought Cegs stays so you can keep running the double ruck set up? Kos has just been fumbling like a motherf*cker, which is why I think he’s gone. Idk.
Hope I’m wrong though.
I agree Jeanott.
We looked very undersized down back last week. I think logue ( test) comes straight back in.
If Fyfe is declared fit there’s a chance they drop Chapman.
I think Henry comes in for Schultz.
Treacy for Meek
Logue for Young
I’m not sure who they drop for Fyfe ?
Even if he does survive,he maybe gone for D Tucker the week after. Injuries pending.
Hmm, maybe me being priced out of Chapman is a good thing then lol.
Good stuff, FT.
No Probs GunBoat.
The way our injuries are going he may get a decent run at it. I would prefer to take a punt on a $102K guy like Parks.
At least if its a bust, you get max $$ for your downgrade
😉
I believe Meek stays and rotates forward with treacy
I’m worried the same. I see him as potentially not getting a good enough run to moo.
It’s a pity because we’re so short of cashflow defenders, but at this stage I might be keeping Kosi and saving the trade for next week to use on Waterman.
God it’s tempting to pull that trigger though.
27 left. Ranked top 2000.
Rowell was necessary , the other two were Phillips to Tex and H Jones to Impey, worked out well.
I have 36k ITB and will likely trade Fantasia to Chapman this week, downgrade Rowe and Kosi next week, leaving me with 24 for upgrades (reckon I need 18 to get to full premo, barring injuries of course).
26 left and using 2 more this week. It’s been my protocol every year to select the most expensive players and short those not performing, I started with 12 premiums and now have 15*, this leads me to my second phase of trading through the Byes (6) and then thru to the final phase….hang on for grim death.
There’s only two ways to generate cash in this caper .. wait for your cows to ripen and short your Lachie Neale’s and co. He’ll reappear in my side at some stage.
I know this method isn’t everyone’s caper but I’m comfortable with it.
*Assuming Tex, Ziebell and Bowes to reach premium status.
It’s an intriguing strategy – out of curiosity, how has it worked for you in previous years?
Most years I’ve challenged top 1k and end up finishing anywhere from there to 4k. I still had trades for the finals and 1 for the GF. Not the best of start this year 30 K but slowly going up.
Used 3 to date- Rowell & Danger for Dusty & Ridley, then last week traded Phillips to Brayshaw. This week have H Young to deal with. Deciding between the following :
TU: H Young to Jiath – better job security and keeps Kos & Highmore on the bench so no onfield defence rookies
TD: H Young to Chapman – leaves me a much healthier bank balance but worried about his JS (could always go a week early on Parks but don’t like doing that)
If Highmore is back in, could always play him at D6 & leave H Young on bench until next week, then trade out for Parks on the bubble.
Probably just go Jiath and save yourself the headf*ck of a rookie on field at D6, Lisa.
Used 3 trades.
Did a panic trade last week: Jones to Campbell. Resisted Campbell from start because of his higher price, but then went point chasing. Waste of a trade.
I have used my full allotment so far:
R2 – Rowell and Dangerfield –> T. Mitchell and Heeney.
R3 – Neale and H. Young –> Jiath and Impey.
Plan for this week is likely a double-upgrade, pending team announcements.
