  1. Never thought I would ever say this -there is too much footy. Can’t get into it. I just knew my team (Saints) would do well in a season nobody really cares about.

    1. Definitely too much footy. I generally hate Thursday games in a regular season. Fri/Sat/Sun is enough for me.

The BBL has become waaay too much of a good thing. Gil is very keen to kill the goose though.

      1. No that it really matter right now going into lockdown here but the Thursday nights always trick my brain into thinking it’s Friday night.

I’d dont mind the idea of rewarding entertaining teams with stand alone games on a weeknight, thought the Saints V GC game was a ripper, Dogs V Port very good if still congested like most & there’s been some other good ones, I guess what I’m saying is if it’s a good game I’ll watch it whenever it’s on Haha.

  2. Trades need to be thought about, injuries need to be speculated on and anticipation must be there during the week for me to enjoy the footy and supercoach as much as I usually do.

  3. I’ve always been very pro a 30 trade limit (even when it was 24), but I’m quietly enjoying being able to trade every week (more or less).

Not sure I’d mind if unlimited trades (2 per week limit) became a thing next year.

    1. I think they need to do that or maybe bring the rookie prices back down no matter where they were drafted & maybe more of a discount for injuries & lack of games in previous seasons, Cash gen just isn’t what it used to be when GC & GWS were in their infancy.

      1. My first season of SC was goldcoasts first year so i don’t what it was like in the before times. I guess its just harder now to pick which rooks are gonna have good JS. IMO This season has def been about playing the midprice stock market, that could be because of the extra trades and the fact we don’t know who’s playing when

  4. Not liking the team announcements with this fixture. Wanting to make trades but not knowing if certain players will play as teams only announced night before. Also having to work many weeknights, makes it hard to make trades before the game starts.

Then the byes have been poorly organised. As there is still many teams to have their bye, but it is still unannounced when they’ll have it yet. It looks to be through SC finals, which doesn’t seem to be the most fair time.

Just waiting for next season now and hoping all will be back to normal, as this just hasn’t been the most enjoyable year for SC

  5. I enjoy it as it’s good to have something to watch every night but Supercoach wise it’s not great. I would prefer Thursday/Friday – Sunday.
With the byes it’s annoying that there will be some during finals but AFL don’t care which is fair enough.

  6. The catchphrase of 2020 – it is what it is.

I’d rather this than no footy/SC but having it on each night is taking the gloss off it from a pure footy watching perspective and SC. I thought I’d love it but I actually said one night this week “I’m having a night off footy”.

The usual round format of having Mon-Wed/Thu off allows for a break and a review of the footy results/impacts and then you can look forward to the next weekend of games/SC. That break also provides a few days to research SC options before making final decisions whereas now we’re unable to make informed decisions at the time, nor do full analysis on our options.

As I said, I understand why they’re doing it every night and I’d rather it than nothing. But I wouldn’t like this to be a permanent arrangement that goes into next year and beyond.

  7. Only getting to see the rooks play for one game is a bit of a drama, with only 2 trades a week if 4 rookies come out you’re stuck, this is more than just an interesting season there is probably a lot more skill and luck involved. Round 11 starts tomorrow and I haven’t even decided how I’m finishing Round 10, it’s the 20/20 of Supercoach Quick fire !!

  8. When it was Thurs through to Sun or Mon night I thought it was great but now with the current fixtures I’m beginning to appreciate having a few days break in between rounds. It’s turned SC into a bit more of a timesink than I’m comfortable with.

  9. I’m actually quite enjoying having a game of football to watch each night, as living in Melbourne at the moment, there’s certainly nothing else I can be doing.

I’m not enjoying the round starting and still not knowing who is in or not in games to come, so trading in rookies that have played one game but not knowing if they will play two, and not knowing what premiums will be rested from week to week, is painful.

I must admit I much prefer the round finishing on a Sunday night, allowing for a few days of rage trading and decision making, in regards to which rookies to bring in, which ones to trade out, which fallen premium to target. At the moment, with one round finishing and a new one starting the next day, its more a case of a hail Mary then thoughtful planning.

  10. I’m enjoying watching the footy every morning (Euro time) and catching most games. Although, clearly the tv stations are also playing their rookie directors, because the number of times we’re looking at grass missing the footy, is more than I can ever remember. Not to mention the commentators sound tired.

SC wise, the timing of team sheets are killing me.

  11. Thanks for the poll Sal.

Every trade now is gold, and will shape the rest of this shortened season.

    Rookie JS will be KEY!

I’m willing to pay a little more for a post Bye rookie’s like Watson.

I’m also eyeing off guys like Wicks that come off their Bye in R12.

I have a “Idea” as what the AFL may plan to do with the Byes.

My strongest thought is they will try to give Finals bound teams a rest as late in the regular season as possible. They tried a post season Bye in 2018 I think ???
This would also mean they may try to give the younger/ lower sides a break sooner.

So these teams (Maybe ) will have late Bye’s
    Richmond
    Brisbane
    Port
    Geelong
    Collingwood
    Dogs / Saints

That leaves these teams ( maybe ) to have Byes “first”

    Saints / Dogs
    North
    GC
    Crows

Of course, I could be completely off track.

    Thoughts ?

    1. As a Dockers man, do you think Watson holds his spot, FT?

If I want to trade Starc -> Watson, I’ll have to trade blind as Brisbane play Saturday and Freo teamsheets won’t be released till Sunday.

      1. We are all Blind.

I’m on my couch in Bondi. I really know only as much as you.

I figure he is the best of a heap of super risky options.

        Adelaide rookies top this pile.

        Who’s in who’s out.

With B Smith, then Sloane coming back ??

I just need one of Watson / McKay to fill D6 by the time R12 rolls around.

If you were relying on him “on field’ maybe its safer to go some where else.

          1. Complete ?

How many post R11 Byes ?

We both have Burn and Doc.

Do you have Ridler / Lloyd/ Sicily.

I think you will need at least 2 of these guys( as well ) to be safe.

  12. In terms of the fixture the afl has arranged….too much footy is better than no footy. If this is what they needed to do to make it work, then I’m good with that.

SC? It’s been fun thus far. Super up and down. Began the first 5 rounds inside too 2 percent. A couple bad trades and one totally forgotten game have hurt. But again, it is what it is. An anomaly. I figure I’ll enjoy it while it lasts. Making a lot of trade choices I probably wouldn’t make in a regular season.

  13. After dropping from 4k to 32k after the rd 3 debacle, I am now back to 2k. I’ve taken the view that trades will be increased with the extra bye rounds and gone hard.

  14. I’m thinking next year if we don’t beat this virus, we will have games Monday to Sunday every week with byes for travel purposes every week, with a total of 17 rounds.
    I’d be thinkin’ 40 trades, 3 – 4 each week best 18 with a total of 26 players only……..Thoughts..????

    Ps my head hurts…..
