Racing SC – Week 2

Written by Motts on October 8 2020

Hi All,

Round 1 of Supercoach Racing has been run and won and the SCTalk Racing League did very well overall being ranked 97 of 3,599. Let’s keep that up and remember to be in the running for the overall prize to add @SCT to the end of your team name. We had 9 stables in the top 1,000 this week so think it’ll be a very competitive challenge for the prize. If you haven’t joined yet, the League code is 907361.

Similar to last week I’ll give a quick rundown of the Group 1 races and my thoughts on some horses to consider outside of those races this weekend and hopefully can point you in the right direction when selecting your stable.

As always, note that the below is purely based off Supercoach value and Supercoach options and is in no way shape or form my betting preview of the races.

Randwick Race 7 – Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes

Field of 14 assembled here for the three year olds tackling the 2000m trip. The main options here include the unbeaten Love Tap ($125,000) and last week’s group 1 winner Montefilia ($225,000). A case can definitely be made for starting both of these horses and Miravelle ($50,000) looks a good bench option out of this race as well.

Caulfield Race 6 – Group 1 Caulfield Stakes

As we pointed out last week, small fields in a group 1 is pure Supercoach gold! The favourite here in Russian Camelot ($350,000) looks to be an absolute lock not only for your stables but a no brainer captaincy option. With the higher price horses assembled in this field hard to select too many from this race but Arcadia Queen ($400,000) and Humidor ($375,000) are worth considering if you have the cash to splash.

Caulfield Race 7 – Group 1 Thousand Guineas

14 fillies assembled here and think there are only two options worth considering here and they are Hungry Heart ($225,000) and Instant Celebrity ($150,000). Looks a very even field behind these two.

Caulfield Race 8 – Group 1 Caulfield Guineas

Another even group 1 in a decent sized field makes it hard to recommend too many but think Ole Kirk ($200,000) is a good selection here and another contender for your bench comes from this race with Cambourne ($50,000).

Caulfield Race 9 – Group 1 Toorak Handicap

Common theme again with another even race here. Think that Buffalo River ($250,000) and Junipal ($200,000) are the two worth considering unless you have a strong opinion of some of the other runners.

Best of the Rest

Alligator Blood ($400,000) will go around a short priced favourite in the (Supercoach Racing Classified Group 2) Silver Eagle but with the glut of options in the Group 1’s might mean that price is a bit too much.

Wild Ruler ($200,000) and Doubtland ($200,000) both look good options in the Group 2 Roman Consul.

Peltzer ($175,000) and Jet Propulsion ($100,000) also look like good dutching options in the Group 2 Stan Fox Stakes.

Orderofthegarter ($250,000) looks a good option in the Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes.

All the best for week 2 everyone and would be interested to hear everyone’s thoughts on their strategy for the week, as well as captaincy and bench options.

  1. My stable’s selected. All Group 1 horses. Russian Camelot as captain and Olly to ride. 261 points last week and looking to improve my ranking above 14th in the SCT group this week. Good punting all!

  2. I’m still sookin’ over a winning G3 as emergency!!!
There should be a rule/law having emergency scores override a zero, and not just the scratching!!! ……
Maybe I just need to go sit in the corner and wait for someone to toss me a whistle…..(LOL?)
Ps onya Froffers’ great write up
Pss got Cambourne as this weeks emergency…..LOL

  3. Thoughts on something sensible for a moment…….

IMO Alligator Blood better risk for points than Humidor and Arcadia Queen?
ie, Which one do you think will finish 2nd???

I currently have most of Froffers’ tips, with also, because of dollars available, Swats That and Fake Love.

Also I might have a bit of a thought on having the current favourite Randwick R8 as this weeks emergency………

    1. Complete toss of the coin between the three of them. I personally won’t be including any in my stable as I can’t quite fit them in my salary cap but they’re all good options in isolation.

  4. My inability to distinguish between withers and weathers was demonstrated last week. Melbourne weather this week will be the difference as I shoot for the stars.

  5. Lesson learnt this week dont fall the hype because it will kick you in the bum.

Also if you think that something is a sure thing in group 2 or 3 take it points in the bank better than 5th or 6th in a group 1

Down the ladder i fall no longer 2nd in group:(
