DEF: Sheezel, NWM, Sicily, Travaglia, Allan, Smith (Leake, Whitlock)
Sheezel is a lock. NWM I’m really bullish on, I think he can be the Saints most damaging player soon and love his trajectory. Sicily could easily be Holmes/Stewart/Houston/Clark etc. but I’m backing him to return to his loose man role with the Barrass and Battle inclusions.
Bont, Butters, Daicos select themselves. Don’t love the underpriced options atm, will keep an eye on them during preseason games. I think the uber premo mids are being underhyped this year and alot of people are overlooking going for a stacked midfield. I love both Serong and Brayshaw this year and with the friendly bye, happy to roll with both. Other premos I’m keeping a close eye on are LDU, Dunkley, Anderson.
RUC: Xerri, TDK (Boyd)
Straightforward one here. Age + scoring profile. But if Pitto plays alongside TDK, will pass.
I like the rookie-priced options in the forward line, I think Hewett and Erasmus get regular games and play well. I think Macrae will be a 95-100 average. Smith I’m not so sure about but he’s a low risk choice right now.
FLEX: Daniel
Just went with Daniel to have a cheap-ish, DPP who could still go off for some big scores.
Probably the purest G&R team I’ve seen at 3-5-2-3.
I see NWM’s stock having gone up with Sinclair doing a hammy. Even though Sinc was/is in MID hybrid role, him going down snuffs out any resistance to a monopoly for NWM.
All three of Bont, Butters and Daicos is a lot but fair play if you don’t like the midpricer and 400-500k premo landscapes.
Really good team. Food for thought here to combine two mid $400k mid players into one super premo and one rookie with $$ left over to maybe even fix up my back line. Hmm I wonder!
Interesting to see Stewart popping up. I wrote him off for good last year, but the premo def options are not thrilling to start this season! Maybe he’s not dead after all…
DEF: Sheez NWM Dale Mills Travaglia Allan ( K.Smith Z.Reid)
MID: Bont Brayshaw Richards Oliver Peatling J.Smith Langford Knevitt (Kako Sheldrick El Hawli)
RUCK: Xerri English (Boyd)
FWD: JHF Macrae B.Smith Daniel Hewett Erasmus ( Davidson J.Berry)
FLEX: Tsatas
CASH: $219,000
Feel free to throw some ideas and advice around on where to spend my $219k. I hate the Bailey smith pick but it’s purely his % would love to make him rankine. I could upgrade the El-Hawli & kako picks to the top tier rookie mids..
Hey ranger,
Oliver is locked i expect him to bounce back and be a top 8-10 mid this season.. peatling at his price is worth a chance i think he will have a role with CBAs. But wouldn’t say he’s locked.
Rozee is someone I have flirted with but I still have nightmares from owning and holding him all season last year through the bad games and injuries.. but his pre season is slowly sucking me back in
Hi – I’m fairly new to supercoach (1st season last year). I’m looking at the BYE rounds, and am I right in saying that because Supercoach ignores the opening round, that means that 8 teams have 2 byes during SC season, whereas the teams that don’t play in the opening round, only have 1 bye?
So when choosing my team, I would be better targeting players from the teams that only have one bye, such as premo’s like Butters, Bont & Serong, instead of premo’s like Daicos, Neale & Merrett, who will be missing from my team twice in the SC season?
Any advice would be appreciated – would hate to fill my team with players that seem like they miss 2 games instead of only 1 for others.
A lot of coaches, me included, followed that strategy last year. But what it meant was that some of the great value picks like Heeney and Flanders were missed, and it was a great scramble to get them in at inflated prices.
Whilst naturally you shouldn’t overload on players with the early bye, you shouldn’t ignore them either. With Gold Coast early draw being so juicy, it may be worth starting Anderson, for example. (I say Anderson because Flanders is injured. If both were playing, it would have been prudent to perhaps only start one of them)
Rd3 is the most problematic. Coaches taking Mills and BSmith are hesitating to take too many more from those sides.
It would seem that the lesson from last year was that if you think a player represents great value on his starting price, do not let the early bye deter you too much.
You raise a good point, but here’s the thing: say Player A has two byes during the season, and Player B has one. If we assume both players play every game available to them during the season, then Player A only has to outscore Player B by 5 points per game to aggregate more over the whole season. That’s basically just a kick and a handball each game!
GD is right, a lot of us made the mistake last year of defaulting to the guy who plays more games, instead of considering who is likely to score more points. That’s the only thing you need to worry about.
1) Don’t worry too much about the early byes, especially the really early one (R2). Go ahead and pick one or 2 premiums as you should have cover as you will start 30/31 players who are playing in R1.
2) If you are picking players for value, ignore the early byes; it will be very hard to get 10 guys playing in one bye week so you should easily field 18.
3) When looking at mid year byes, count the guys you think you will hold for the whole year, 6 in one week will make that bye week hard to cover, you will probably have 26/31 players playing each week at that stage of the season. This year the R12 bye will be tricky as most people will start keepers in Sheezel, Bont, Butters, Xerri, JHF and Daniel, plus any other value picks that present throughout. Any players you trade in to cover this bye will have there own soon after. You will look to trade out players on their bye week into those who have completed a bye so don’t worry about players you intend to trade.
4) Only use byes as a reason as a tiebreaker for choosing between players.
I’m basically ignoring it as we have best 18 for 8 of the rounds, and a flex player who can be anyone. Sure, R12 looks yucky but we should all still have 22/23 to chose from for best 18 for that round.
DEF: Sheezel, NWM, McKercher, Travaglia, Allan, Smith (Leake, Whitlock)
Mills has been dropped 🙁 Honestly I’m still unsure here as to what structure I want to go with, I guess it’s fully dependent on how the rookies look early on.
MID: Bontempelli, Butters, Brayshaw, Anderson, Green, Oliver, Langford, Kako (Hustwaite, El-Hawli, Hall)
STAAAACKED. Honestly fairly set on Oliver, I trust Anderson to go big (especially early), and Brayshaw and Green are both guns who should move into that uber premium territory. Bont and Butters don’t need to be explained.
RUC: Xerri, Jackson (Boyd)
Rucks are a little iffy for me this year. As a Dees supporter, I am not fully confident on Gawn performing for the whole season, Xerri is expected to back up a huge leap, TDK has Pittonet problems maybe, and Jackson is notoriously unreliable. If I’m honest, Jackson was TDK before I wanted to move Dunkley to Butters.
FWD: JHF, Macrae, Smith, Daniel, Berry, Hewett (Sims, Davidson)
Fairly cookie cutter forward line, too much upside in the midpricers and not enough stability in the premiums to stray too far from the common road.
FLEX: Erasmus
$$$: $15,300
Fairly happy with it, haven’t gone expensive with the rookies, so if the basement rookies don’t show up in the preseason, the structure may need a reshuffle. Let me know what you think
Yeah, really strong team. Love the stacked midfield. I’m iffy on TDK as well just if they still persist with playing Pittonet with him. Jackson is on my never again list so can’t talk myself into him.
Lot of commonality in teams, so I think the PODs you choose to start with are more important this year, but if you can generate enough cash early you can catch anyone you desperately need. (just contradicted myself….)
D: NWM, Holmes, Perryman, Mills, Trav, Allan (Reid, Leake)
Flanders injured so get him cheaper later when he come good, also there are a lot of folk eating points at the Suns now. Sheezel not injured but also more pigs snuffling, similarly an upgrade target. NWM training reports seem to have him as #1 distributor, and Sinclair with a niggle so maybe a 10-15pt bump? Perryman I admit is a ‘feeling’, new club, good money so we (yes a rabid Pies man) see a role for him to fill which will apparently be more MID time. Rest are common.
First 4 are obvious, Peatling similar to Perryman but more wraps on him / awareness, rookies on field I like, good chat on Sheldrick role and the others provide DPP.
R: Gawn Xerri (Sims)
1-2 are proven and I can afford them with this structure, Sims gives me DPP to R/F which opens up the Flex to any position – if you have another Ruck there. I have had TDK / Meek there until this version but I wanted Perryman.
Cookie cutter, but fading JHF for now. All in on MPM for the F line.
Flex: Rozee
ITB: a whopping $1,600!
Still want to get TDK back in as Flex, but it means Perryman (my POD!) has to go as I like the logic for the rest of the team (including the rookies – obviously depends on pre season roles / scoring).
Have I succumbed to MPM in this heat?
Sorry for the long post, seems I had a lot to get out.
With most teams looking cookie cutter, I decided to have a bit of fun and take a different approach. I looked at all the rookies, and other players under $200k who could effectively be considered expensive rookies. I then looked at fallen premos I would happily hold, then finally filled the team with uber premos.
Sheezel Ryan Holmes Mills B Allan El Hawaii Reid/Bice
Bont Neale NDaicos Oliver Lalor J Smith Tsatas L Ashcroft Draper/Travalgia/Erasmus
Gawn Xerri Boyd
SPP Lynch JHF Curtin Kako Daniel J Berry/E Hewitt
Jackson
Only 12 keepers, and mids are light, but could swap a premo from another line. Strangely, this is my highest projected team score to date. Massive cash generation if rookies come off. A team taking the longer term view but should also be competitive from the start.
All things being even I think Meek is prob the better pick. But with TDK minus Pitto (and thats the caveat) and without the extra bye (that Meek has) and also $10k cheaper, then its TDK for me.
First public crack for the year and cannot wait for the season to start,
Ryan, NWM, Sicily, B Allan, El-Hawli, Busslinger (Trainor, Bice)
Defence – passing on Sheezel’s early mooted forward time & Flanders is injured, so Ryan is my top 3 pick. Houston had his best season ever but also at a new club so will sit & wait on him, Nic Martin should be no worse but chose NWM as he will be better I think & is $20k cheaper. I am a massive Jordan Clark fan but not with Ryan & only 3 starting premo’s. Sicily’s favorite role should be served to him on a plate with Barrass and Battle also there this year so yes please for me.
Mids – Serong who I started last year may well become Brayshaw, but he feels like the safer option of the two to me. Dawson is value & with a thicker midfield around him will be Adelaide’s highest scorer I think. I understand those who pick Oliver but I need to see to see him back to his best personally. I am a Bombers man and I really like Tsatas this year, match siming as an inside mid and going well. Not massive on the mid pricers as I have enough in the forward line thanks and I do not see any definite keepers amongst them ! Oliver probably & Ashcroft perhaps may prove to be the exceptions
Xerri, Jackson (Sims)
Ruck – Prefer De Konning to Jackson to be honest but cannot ignore Shrek’s absence and ultimately Jackson should be top 6 forwards or very close so can push him there or into Flex later on for Gawn or whoever else may end up being the best option for R2
Forwards – JHF and Macrae the two (should be) keepers here & if any of the rest become keepers then that is bonus. Hutchinson is my roll of the dice, match siming as an inside mid, he also raised the bat late last season. It seems those 4 touch games in the forward line he started with last year are a thing of the past thus he is worth the risk I think & being it is in the forward line, it is not a massive one.
Flex – Hewett – FWD/Mid who should play and score ok and interchangeable on two lines
$7100 ITB
Would love your thoughts and ideas, I had a different version with Nick Bryan in the ruck with Jackson the flex or visa versa, just not sure I have the balls to actually do it. I do really like the side above thus my fist time posting it ! Fairly low risk side I think but others may disagree
I’ve gone with Holmes. NWM and Sicily aslo similarly priced but it feels like all 3 are solid picks but can’t have everyone. I agree, it’s Ryan or Clark, not both but didn’t Ryan’s numbers go down when Dockers changed gamestyle?
If you believe pre season hype then I think it’s hard to ignore Oliver. But keen to validate via the upcoming matches. But otherwise, very strong midfield there
Good shout on Hutchinson, I didn’t know that. If he’s not just a pre season hero then that’s an absolute bargain.
I also toyed with Bryan as R2 and I believe as a player he will breakout this year. However, not sure that equates to SC points just yet. It’s hard to justify any ruck who shares the load so much and Draper will clearly also get plenty of ruck time. That’s why Xerri and Meek are attractive, TDK if Pitto doesn’t play
I am hoping Bont, Merrett, Butters or Sheezel will be OK for a C or VC. Sometimes I thing it is easier just selecting the C at Rd1 and leave it. You start chasing points every week to get burnt a lot of the time
Thanks Harry, I think Bryan will be No 1 at the Dons but as you say, how SC relevant will he be ? He is athletic and and matched it with Shrek strength wisr late last season (to my surprise). Draper played that game too and only rucked when Shrek didn’t !
Ryan did drop off a tad but his ceiling is enormous. I could drop him down to Clark my love child then Jackson to Meek and as I type this I am liking it more and more. Getting Clark in and ditching Jackson at the same time just makes me happy lol !
Some rookies are just place holders at this stage. Keen to optimise players not on the early bye who I also think can finish top of their line.
Thoughts appreciated!
Alot of competition for mid rooks. I just can’t fit them all in. Really eager to see round 1 team sheets. Hoping a couple get held back from selection for upgrade season.
Question, Will there be any total team summaries/previews for 2025? E.g. ‘North Melbourne 2025 Team Preview.’
Struggling to build my team. Found these super handy in the past!
Would anyone consider lawson humphrie. Guys a smooth mover and a ball magnet. Also users ball at 100 petcent he is cheap and could be a good money maker
It’s one of those gambles that makes the difference Nick. The blokes game is made for supercoach and only 418k I might see if I can upgrade schoenmakers to him by dropping some expensive bench players.
Maybe just because it’s his first year he’s averaged 100+ (105) and misses a few matches each season due to injury. Pies are an unknown too, but role looks steady. Could be a good solid R2.
Currently my R1 Barb, this could easily change though. I got him around $500k last year and came home really strong. Hoping the role and mix with Cox doesn’t change. Positive is he gives you $80k extra than having Xerri/Gawn and should average over 100, but probably minimal upside to his price and not a realistic VC/C option most weekends.
Maybe a Pies fan can explain why he exploded in the second half of the season.
He’s a very solid option Barb, the only thing that put him out of calculations for me is the double bye.
If we’re honest with ourselves we’re all going for overall score in the first 5 weeks, and in with a genuine chance, if we maximise points early.
I know that bye rounds are best 18 but that just makes it even more important to have as many premos playing as possible
I got Mills firstly for the price and hopefully he can get somewhere around 90 each game, Swans saying he is spending time in the mid field as well. He will get through to about Rd 10 before his price tops out then trade, hopefully trade around bye time as long as he does as above.
I’ve heard that he’s going to be starting midfield and that he’s been all class so far. Cox seems intent on having him play there and not as a gap filler.
I have him to start, he’ll get dpp at first change and if he stays uninjured could easily be season long keeper and a top 6 defender.
I feel more confident in Mills than I do in Parker & Sanders and at the moment if I had to choose between him & peatling I’d keep mills, he’s scored a SC double ton before.
Hard choice, I upgraded Smith to Rankine but had to downgrade Max. I had TDK but then read about McKay and Silvagni giving him a chopout at each end, then I read that Darcy didn’t get fixed by an Arab Genie and wont play before round 5 so I slotted in Jacko, and riedy might be a good bench option

Fading 600k players except Xerri, who has been Nank all pre season. All rookies subject to who plays, and won’t be the sub every week. Cash gen a bigger priority than before and avoiding injured/suspended players( that’s you Dan) Happy to hear feedback. Good luck all and go Lions! Couldn’t believe we got up last year
Hey guys!
Finally feel like I’ve gotten somewhere with this team. All feedback is want and appreciated. Rookie’s placeholders until teams are announced etc.
DEF : H.Sheezel, M.Holmes, J.Sicily, T.Travagalia, B.Allen, K.Smith (J.Leake, J.Busslinger)
DEF COMMENTS- Made the mistake last year of not starting Sheezel. Feel like Holmes if stays fit can be a top 5 defender this year. Sicily will get his old role back with the inclusions of Battle & Barrass. Rookies I feel confident in, but all subject to change.
MID: M.Bontempelli, Z.Butters, N.Daicos, C.Serong, C.Oliver, S.Lalor, J.Smith, S.Draper (H.Langford, M.Knevitt, S.El-Hawli)
MID COMMENTS- Gone deep through the midfield, strong rookie selections this year within the middle as well. First 4 pick themselves, I’m tossing up between Oliver & Day. Oliver edging him out based on his pre-season form and half of coaches owning him. But Day could definitely fully breakout this year, if stays on the park.
RUCK- Xerri, Meek (Sims)
RUCK COMMENTS- Xerri is a beast and will keep top ruck position this year. Meek edges out TDK as I think he can take it up another level this year, strong around the contest and can find the footy. Similar to Xerri. TDK makes me nervous with likely shared ruck time with Pitt.
FORWARD: JHF, J.Macrae, B.Smith, C.Daniel, I.Kako, E.Hewett (C.Stone, S.Davidson)
FORWARD COMMENTS- Pretty cookie cutter here, only other guy I like is Rankine, however don’t want to have to downgrade a midfield uber premium to get him.
Nice Mickey. I’m not sold on Holmes or Sicily, but plenty of others are and they are potential value (no Mills is a risk though, given his potential role, ownership and value). I have Oliver too currently but I’m not convinced he’ll be worth it, I’ll be very happy to fade if his pre-season games aren’t convincing! Overall it’s a solid team, hopefully the rookies come through for you/us.
pretty solid Mickey. No Mills a surprise maybe. Strong MIDS, Oliver could easily become Day/Ashcroft, even Peatling if you’re not sold with Satan. Meek is a great POD (Sweet for me)
Trying to find a way to bring Mills in. More I look into his pre-season, playing 100% MID and dominating in match sims etc. feel like I need to slightly adjust team to fit him in.
Will have to move on an Uber premium to do it though
Sims > Boyd,
Kako > Berry
Lalor > back to Kako (Lalor is gone anyway)
Draper to M.Hall (yeah thats a long bow)
+$23K
About $5 or $6k short of Trav to Mills
Eramus back into Mids I think.
Something like that.
You are prob missing Tsatas and NOD though…. ???
I’m kinda souring on TDK a little after I went back and looked at his scores and realised that outside of a 5-week purple patch, he was pretty meh the rest of the season. Not saying he can’t break out and be more consistent, especially if he’s the sole ruck, but definitely not a safe lock either.
His difference in scores with or without Pittonet is pretty significant. I had him in my starting team but not in currently. I suspect TDK be a frustrating own with some big scores, and some low ones given Pittonet will play plenty of games this year you’d think.
I was challenged to build a team with Reidy at R2 …. I actually like it (except would need many trades and boosts to fix it up if it immediately flops!)
Evening all
Up to a version # that is far too high, but have finally felt like I have got to a somewhat settled structure and premiums. All feedback is wanted and appreciated. Rookie’s placeholders until teams are announced etc.
D: Sheezel, Holmes, McKercher, Mills, Travagalia, B.Allen (Leake, Z.Reid)
Sheezel is an absolute lock here. Ho
M: Bont, Butters, Merrett, Oliver, J.Smith, L.Ashcroft, Draper, Langford (Erasmus, Tsatas, Knevitt)
Bont, Butters and Merrett pick themselves – theres also Serong, and Daicos who are being considered here. Oliver is almost a lock given how many people are starting with him, although I am yet to be fully convinced – am strongly considering Day as a swap (it does reduce the ITB to 7.4K).
R: Xerri, Meek (Sims)
Xerri is a beast and will keep top ruck position this year. Tossing up between TDK and Meek. TDK is significantly impacted when Pitt plays, and can realistically expect Pitt to play every other week, so scoring will be impacted. Meek has the potential to be similar to Xerri – for that reason, gets the nod.
F: Rankine, J.Macrae, B.Smith, C.Daniel, Lynch, SPP (Kako, Hewett)
There is a fair bit of value here, and results in a relatively cookie cutter approach. Like both Rankine and JHF who both will end up in the top 6 come season end, but can’t afford to start both.
Flex: Flynn
If Flynn gets solo ruck, there should be cash to be made here. Thats a big IF though.
Focusing more on premo defenders and mids to start off this year. If i learnt anything last year which continued on to this year, forwards are lacking and they should be the last of my upgrades heading toward mid-year;
Fwd: Macrae, Smith, Lynch, SPP, Hewett, Kako (Sims, Martin)
Flex: Caleb Daniel.
I think Sicily will dominate with his intercept marking this year, Luke Ryan flies under the radar every year and will again this year
Will Day should have a breakout year
Peatling I think will average close to 100, he’s a tackling machine and has some good cash gen in him to hopefully hit 500k then sideways him to a premo. Him and Neal-Bullen will free up Dawson who will take the piss this year
I’m not seeing Gawn in many people’s teams this year? He’s an absolute lock for me every year and saved me in a lot of matchups last year by having the C on him.
My forward line i’m not bothering too much about, i think the first 3 weeks will show us who really is a forward premium or not as I don’t have faith in anyone. Focusing more on cash gen in the FWD line before upgrading to actual premos once we figure out who they are.
I put Caleb Daniel as flex. I’m not fully convinced he’ll get enough of the ball, but at the same time he could rack em up across the backline if Mckercher and Sheezel spend more time up the field.
Xerri has a tough start to the season: English, Gawn, O’Brien, Grundy, Witts. I’m more than happy to fade him and have a piece when he starts his run against TDK, Sweet, Draper, BigO, Nank, Cameron, Flynn etc
Wow big risk 5 final games 2024 he ave 148 with a low of 123 and this year his mids are a bit better. I don’t think the opposing ruck makes much difference to him. Each of his lows were countered later by 110+ against the same teams. The trajectory seems to be upwards.
His low games last year
90vBlues
91vCats
82vSuns
96vBombers
Highs
185vEagles
151vCats
144vTigers -Nank
144vHawks Meek
141vDogs twice English x 1
133vSaints -RoMo
His big scores at the end of last year were against the weakest ruckman. He had a dream run.
I’m not saying he won’t end up averaging 120 for the year, but I can see a world we’re he might struggle in the first 5 rounds and have one or two below 105, meaning a decent price drop.
Interested to hear people’s thoughts on Liam Baker, I could see him becoming a top 6 fwd. Am seriously considering replacing Bailey Smith with him, just worried with such high ownership I will quickly fall behind the pack if it doesn’t pay off.
Definitely on the watchlist Ben, I need to see how the Eagles line up and their style of play in preseason. If he has the role off half back then he’ll be very tempting. Not sure I’d dump Bailey Smith necessarily, but would consider weakening other lines if I’m convinced by Baker.
Smith didn’t look that good against the Hawks not very pro active at all and was virtually dragged into by a few senior players. I replaced him with Parker based on that game and Parkers weekend role.
Could easily change back after the next lot of games and opening round but on yesterdays performance no way, there’s better value at a better price.
If you have the time watch GCS #19 from the yesterday’s game(s)… could be the better ‘Bailey’ option and a $120k cheaper. Ignore the stats, which are good, watch his role and execution. Should have FWD/MID DPP after 6 rounds.
My team until the next game or injury report.
Good early by structure and only 2 first gamers on field which could easily become zero first gamers on field without changing the squad
F: Tsatas
I’m prepared to leak a few points in the backline because I don’t see too many many points leaking from anywhere else and Tsatas will make up for the worst score anyway
It’s that damn D4. I know, I know, I keep looking at that exact same structure on my team (as yours) and all the other lines look really nice but I just can’t bring myself to do it and put a rookie there.
If Trav/Prior/C.Osullivan pop up with a spot it might be a goer…I am still not ruling it out.
However, my head is telling me SDK, Milera, even Blight (think I have given up on Port’s HB role) for D4 without a whole restructure.
And I am seeing lots of people taking the other route and going really strong down back which I havent really done before in prev years.
Most teams by Rd12 will not look anything like the Rd 1 team. Plan for 1-2 weeks in advance, unless you know who will get suspended (Toby Greene is the only one you could rely on to get suspended) injured, dropped or managed.
We have a lot of trades rod. I select my teams and keep a mental trading/upgrade plan based on order of averages at specific rounds.
If you’re not planning trade you’re planning to lose
totally changed that team already now have matty roberts at D3 and Daicos at M3.
Wow Daicos looked good, against lions, a level above everybody including Neale
Supercoach Plus coaches have access to additional stats Gilly, including % owned, projected R1 score and projected 3R average, plus other features. It’s great!
Are all the teams being listed here just purely line ball 50/50 teams, or are people just trolling and downvoting everything? I’ve never seen so many teams with so many thumbs downs lol.
Everyone is an expert at the moment and we will be until our teams start scoring points.
Some people think that they are the best expert but they have insecurities so they are passive aggressive towards other experts by thumbs downing teams that are actually pretty good.
Some people are less insecure and acknowledge a good team.
Some people get annoyed by people who think that posting their team scattered among their opinions on why every selection is justified is good form. so, they thumbs down the post but not so much the team.
It would be really valuable to understand who the community thought would be the most likely ‘tag’ target on each side. Not sure if this is the right forum to bring it up… but I reckon it may help with some of these line-ball calls from initial team selection to potential captain choices.
Is this on the horizon as a topic? Or, maybe even a poll?
Adelaide Crows: Jordan Dawson – As a versatile midfielder and captain, Dawson’s playmaking abilities make him a prime tagging target.
Brisbane Lions: Lachie Neale – The 2020 Brownlow Medalist continues to be a midfield dynamo, often drawing the opposition’s best tagger.
Carlton Blues: Patrick Cripps – The influential midfielder and team captain is central to Carlton’s engine room, making him a frequent tagging candidate.
Collingwood Magpies: Nick Daicos – The young sensation has quickly become a pivotal player for the Magpies, with his ball-winning ability attracting close attention.
Essendon Bombers: Zach Merrett – As a consistent performer and leader in the midfield, Merrett often finds himself under the watchful eye of taggers.
Fremantle Dockers: Andrew Brayshaw – The 2022 AFLPA MVP’s midfield prowess makes him a key focus for opposition teams.
Geelong Cats: Cameron Guthrie – The seasoned midfielder’s ability to influence games ensures he remains a tagging target.
Gold Coast Suns: Matt Rowell – Known for his contested ball work, Rowell’s impact in the midfield draws significant attention.
GWS Giants: Tom Green – Emerging as a midfield powerhouse, Green’s performances are increasingly commanding the focus of opposition taggers.
Hawthorn Hawks: James Worpel – With his ball-winning capabilities, Worpel is a central figure in Hawthorn’s midfield, making him a likely tagging target.
Melbourne Demons: Clayton Oliver – A consistent ball magnet, Oliver’s influence in the midfield often necessitates opposition tagging strategies.
North Melbourne Kangaroos: Luke Davies-Uniacke – His emergence as a midfield leader makes him a primary candidate for tagging.
Port Adelaide Power: Connor Rozee – The dynamic midfielder-forward’s game-breaking abilities make him a focal point for opposition taggers.
Richmond Tigers: Tim Taranto – As a key midfield acquisition, Taranto’s role is crucial, and he is expected to attract tagging attention.
St Kilda Saints: Jack Steele – The hard-nosed midfielder and captain is central to the Saints’ efforts, often drawing the opposition’s best tagger.
Sydney Swans: Callum Mills – His versatility and midfield impact make Mills a likely candidate for tagging.
West Coast Eagles: Tim Kelly – As a primary playmaker, Kelly’s influence in the midfield makes him a frequent target for opposition taggers.
Western Bulldogs: Marcus Bontempelli – The Bulldogs’ captain and midfield maestro is often the focus of opposition tagging due to his game-changing abilities.
Another forward rookie asking for a game in the real thing, Ty Gallop. Cheap too. Kicked 5 in the lions intra and looked really good in 2 qrtrs against the pies. $113k KPF but looked the more dangerous of them when it was in his area
I’m happy with this. Backline looks a bit weak but you can’t have it all.
And the rookies are obviously still tbc.
Jackson, Ashcroft and Green have gone out to become Xerri, Daicos and Parker.
Parker, Macrae, B.Smith and Sanders only have to average 90 to probably be top ten fwds.
In saying that, one of them may still be faded to an expensive rookie.
And I really liked Father Dougals take on the $322,600 being available for the flex.
Daniel seems the perfect player for this position, should have a floor of around 80/85 and if that’s my lowest score for the round I’d take that, at least in the early rounds.
Reasonably happy with the bye structure too, 12 being the worst one but it will be for most.
Yeah awesome team. I’d go Lynch to Stone and maybe use some of that money elsewhere. Lots of people getting nervous with TDK (me included) so love the Meekster pick for peace of mind.
Looking for some thoughts on this, tried to do couple of different things but pretty happy with the structure at this stage. Fwds pretty cookie cutter but dont think you can afford to miss out on any of these guys tbh.
Backs- Sheezel NWM Holmes Sinn Travaglia Allen (Smith Leake)
Mids- Bont Butters Serong Callaghan Oliver Lalor Smith Tsatas (Draper Ashcroft El hawli)
Rucks- Xerri Meek (Boyd)
Fwds- JHF Macrae Smith Daniel Lynch Berry (Erasmus Davidson)
Honestly just not as sold on him as some of the other midpricers, I think his scoring history is not overly relevant now with heeney, warner, gulden and rowbottom pretty locked into the mids rotation and blakey/lloyd doing most of the distributing off half back. Too many question marks around his role. Now with reports he’s dealing with a niggle again makes me feel a bit better about the decision.
i think the Swans midfield is as locked as anyone’s. Heeney, Mills and Warner will be the main three. Rowbottom might be given a defensive role and Gulden does his best work on the wing.
I did just read he has a mild plantar fasciitis issue and might miss the practice game.
Lalor has a broken jaw and may miss so keep an eye on him (I like O’Driscoll better anyway). Draper is a bit wasted on the bench so Knevitt over him for me. Sinn will have to wait and see what role he has but Mills for $357k in the backline and the comments coming out of Sydney, I think he is a must.
Looking back to my team at the start of Febtuary, i’m surpised it hasn’t changed that much.
Stewart has become Holmes – he looks super impressive running around the midfield and will be pushing to be a top 6 defender.
Green to Daicos – a round 2 bye player to a round 3 bye player. Green being out to start the season made it an easy choice. Brayshaw has been in and out of M2.
Xerri has been dropped and given me cash to get Sanders and Short – Happy to fade Xerri because of his tough start to season. Sanders and Short are stepping stones to a few of the early bye players i like, such as Day and Ashcroft
Notable absentees –
Sheezel – i’ll be watching the kangaroos games from behind the couch until i can get Xerri and Sheezel in. I’m thinking Sheezel is expensive, $660k in the old money (more expensive than Daicos). Happy to antipod (for now)
Butters – i have Rozee, JHF and Sweet already from Port.
Sweet will become Xerri very early, maybe round 6
Short will be a close watch, hopefully he is taking the kickouts.
Sanders and Parker are interchangable at the moment
4 missing from Round 3 is only concern with Byes. Sicily only other early round 4 bye player.
i think i have 9 genuine premos. plus Mills, Oliver, Smith and Daniel as maybe.
Sweet, Short, Sanders and Peatling should be good early round scorers and easy stepping stones to premiums
Hi Derek, Pretty decent team. I’m not sold on Short at $440oddk but I haven’t got any useful suggestions either for D4! Yeah love the Daicos pick and think he will do well again. Just can’t fit him in and I have a few doubts on Collingwood this year. Not sure what the idea is Sims over Boyd (or even Archer Reid) when you haven’t got another swing player. I suspect its a plan to do with the Flex later on so I will trust your judgement on that one that you have some cunning plan!
Short was the last player added, and will be the first player removed. If he is getting the kickouts at Richmond, there should be a few points on offer there and with no Rioli he might be a 90pt average play. however for that money, plus Travaglia could become Stewart.
Sims is there purely for a future Ruckman in my flex position. Xerri hopefully won’t be far away, but if Sweet is doing ok i’ll need the flex postion for Xerri. Rounds 6 to 11 i’ll be nevous in best 22 without ruck cover.
Hi Derek, this is a really strong team, particularly in defence with Mills as your D5. You haven’t sacrificed quality in your mids with Oliver at M4 and Daniel at F4. The R2 (Sweet) is the only pick I’d be slightly concerned with. I agree that Xerri has a tough start to the season but his form at the end of last season was hard to ignore (especially for non-owners like me!). You may have to pay up to bring him in Round 6. That said, I do like your team and your thinking.
yeah, i was an non-Xerri owner last year as well. his massive scores did come against weak ruckmen. 185 vs Eagles. 151 vs geelong. 144 vs Richmond.
most years i like to start a risky R2. i find it very hard to select the whole ruck line (even though its only 2 players) at the start of the year. Its very rare for the best two from one year to be the best two the next. I would have liked Flynn, but he is looking hurt.
Sweet averaged 95.3 when he was solo ruck in the last 7 weeks last year, i’m hoping it can be closer to 100, (especially with his run against Cameron, Nank, Draper, Marshall, Meek and Grundy) and he makes a few dollar before we work out who the best ruckmen will be.
Some thoughts
– Minimised players with early byes that i will target after (did last year, 500 ranked end of year)
– Mid rookies always are great for value growth and decent scoring so gone hard here (Subject to change after praccy matches)
– Mid is light but will be targeting Daicos, Neale after early byes
– Solid def with my 3 premos likely in the top 6 end of season
– Similar fwd line to most
Notes: Packing the field as much as possible and leaving the benches quite lean. $99k Edwards and Jepson may actually get games unlike someone like Day-Wicks. I am hoping they are named as emergencies at least. Only prob really is missing the cash gen.
K.Smith (in Def) or Leake still may make a return if named (via B Allan to the Mids bench and El-Hawli out). One plan I had was to swap Holmes and B.Allan from the mid Bench for the R3 Bye but B.Allan seems a little wasted on the Bench so for now he is back in Def on field.
May go El-Hawli down to any $113.5k Def or Mid named would net me enough to go DeKoning to Meek if Pitto is named or if I get cold feet at the last minute with DeKoning. M.Hall is also still on the radar for that spot in Mids.
Watch on Langford. May go NOD for Langford to free up cash if he goes well (match sims won’t tell anything with half the Melb team out so will need to wait for Community games). Not really interested in the others in that price point as yet that I have seen so far.
Ace in the pack is Rankine for me if he stays fit and out of trouble. Think Adel will go well this year.
Changes from last major version:
Holmes in for Milera (although he did play pretty well in the Sim match). Milera had been there for a couple of weeks. Still think he may do well this year. Just too much risk in the Def as a whole.
Sanders and Parker also didnt do anything special in the sim games so they have come out but are still a watch in the Community games. Awkward prices though with current structure.
Stone (dropped after viewing notes from the match sim). Still a watch as the match sim games have been a little hard to read. Community Games will be better. May make his way back in.
Talked a lot about SDK but never really fitted into the team well at $361k. Also worried about all those Rucks at Geel and Scott likes to move them around a-la Bevo (but at least Scott knows what he is doing, maybe).
Had Reidy in Flex for a while but after the Allstar game he became a firm no (scored ok but wasn’t against a recognised Ruckman).
Think that’s about enough for now…All Subject to change!
Lots of tinkering but getting close to final draft.

Bont NDaicos Serong Rozee Oliver J Smith Tsatas Draper E Hewett/El Hawaii/Driscoll

Reckon Sic goes off being freed up down back. Backs are a little light but gives options elsewhere. Particularly looked at byes……r12 has 22 at this stage. No bye round doesn’t have at least two rucks.
Gone for a very much GnR set up.
Do we think this could work this year? Mainly just looking at cash gen to upgrade post the early byes. Keen to get in Naicos, Washcroft, Houston.
Team is:
I have gotten rid of most my mid pricers and just aimed at keepers and value – but running 3 rookies in def and 4 rookies in mid is definitely a risk. Am I crazy if I go with this?
A plan I’m considering is to start with a number of mid price players such as Short, Peatling, Parker, Sanders etc and making early upgrades to keepers coming off their early byes. Similar to what we do during the mid season byes.

Having trouble deciding between Parker (TU), Sanders (TD) and Ollie Hollands (Comment) who has a friendly Supercoach roll at half-back roll. I can only bring one in so who should it be?
Hey everyone. This is the first mock up that I’ve done. I would really appreciate any advice about any missed rookies and my setup.
Def: Sheezel, Holmes, Mills, Travaglia, Allan, Smith (Reid, Leake)
Mid: Bont, Butters, N. Daicos, Serong, Oliver, Peatling, Tsatas, Draper (Knevitt, El-Hawli, Erasmus)
Rucks: Xerri, TDK (Boyd)
Fwd: JHF, Macrae, Smith, Daniel, Hewett, Kako (Lynch, Davidson)
Flex: Harvey Langford
Kicking things off.
MID: Bont, Butters, Daicos, Serong, Brayshaw, O’Driscoll, Draper, Kako (El-Hawli, Hall, Anderson)
FWD: JHF, Macrae, Smith, Curtin, Hewett, Erasmus (Stone, Sims)
I like the rookie-priced options in the forward line, I think Hewett and Erasmus get regular games and play well. I think Macrae will be a 95-100 average. Smith I’m not so sure about but he’s a low risk choice right now.
FLEX: Daniel
Just went with Daniel to have a cheap-ish, DPP who could still go off for some big scores.
ITB: $43,600
Tear it apart.
Nice, GK.
M1 to M5 is trouser stretching stuff
It is but I don’t see where my team is suffering in other lines. Mid-pricers aren’t moving me at the moment.
It’ll be incredible if all the rookies show up for you. Good stuff
Not currently looking like round 1 players
Allan, Smith, Leake, Whitlock
Draper, El-hawli, Hall, Anderson
Boyd (Romo will play boyd wont)
Erasmus, stone, sims. Erasmus will get sub vest if he plays
It’s easy to stack lines with premos if you fill a couple of spots on each line with donuts
Ah you can tell the future can you?
Nice team GKMC
Really good team. Food for thought here to combine two mid $400k mid players into one super premo and one rookie with $$ left over to maybe even fix up my back line. Hmm I wonder!
Please let me know what needs fixing.

Money left over: $42,900.
Probably will drop Hollands for a rook (likely Langford) and then spend some money on the backline, not too sure though.
Forgot to include Knevitt who is on the bench.
Interesting to see Stewart popping up. I wrote him off for good last year, but the premo def options are not thrilling to start this season! Maybe he’s not dead after all…

Feel free to throw some ideas and advice around on where to spend my $219k. I hate the Bailey smith pick but it’s purely his % would love to make him rankine. I could upgrade the El-Hawli & kako picks to the top tier rookie mids..
Good team Mav.
How set are you on Peatling and Oliver?
You could take less risk and up one of them to Green, Dawson or Rozee with all that spare cash.
Hey ranger,
Oliver is locked i expect him to bounce back and be a top 8-10 mid this season.. peatling at his price is worth a chance i think he will have a role with CBAs. But wouldn’t say he’s locked.
Rozee is someone I have flirted with but I still have nightmares from owning and holding him all season last year through the bad games and injuries.. but his pre season is slowly sucking me back in
Haha..same here, had him last year and it sucked.
English up to Gawn?
Hi Barb
Last year a lot of us panicked. Those who ignored the byes and took players on their merits were rewarded.
I worry that might have made us complacent. Idk.
Hey Barb, welcome!
Good luck!
For me there are few things to look at:
We have 40 trades !!!!!
V 2.0
Far. Love this. It’s like a thinking man’s version of my team lmao.
Big TU.
Yeah, really strong team. Love the stacked midfield. I’m iffy on TDK as well just if they still persist with playing Pittonet with him. Jackson is on my never again list so can’t talk myself into him.
Long time lurker, first time poster.
M: Bont, Butters, Serong, Oliver, Peatling, Jagga, Draper, Livingstone (Sheldrick, ElHawli, Erasmus)
F: MacRae, Smith, Sanders, Daniel, Berry, Hewett (Kako, Davidson)
Cookie cutter, but fading JHF for now. All in on MPM for the F line.
Flex: Rozee
ITB: a whopping $1,600!
Still want to get TDK back in as Flex, but it means Perryman (my POD!) has to go as I like the logic for the rest of the team (including the rookies – obviously depends on pre season roles / scoring).
Have I succumbed to MPM in this heat?
Sorry for the long post, seems I had a lot to get out.
Livingstone ? Is that a typo or the Ruck/Fwd one there in your mids?
My bad – Langford
Would Gawn down to Meek or drop Draper to Knevitt or cheaper give you your cash for TDK in flex?
10-15+ for NWM off of Sinc going down a bit generous but I’m liking him more and more as a pick.
Great team. Very well thought out.
Gidday MM,
Perryman is watch as some podcasts have him playing as a tagger depending on matchups.
Dont fade JHF
$24.8K
This team even has 23 for r12.
Gidday Wighty,
being a bomber supporter your just the person to answer this.
Who is the preffered option for R1 and why.
Draper or Bryan.
Reckon Draper……only because he has that mongrel.
That’s a defacto Boyd Flex setup if he is named as well I like it.
Sorry. I did a Phil, comment was for Zekrom on the Flex
Projected Team score is just BS this time of year, right? (insert smiley face).
Thanks for the feedback.
Meek vs TDK?
All things being even I think Meek is prob the better pick. But with TDK minus Pitto (and thats the caveat) and without the extra bye (that Meek has) and also $10k cheaper, then its TDK for me.
DEF: wanganeen-milera, sicily, short, roberts, mills, smith – (reid, leake)
MID: bontempelli, brayshaw, rozee, oliver, peatling, smith, allen, hewett – (el-hawli, erasmus, angove)
RUC: gawn, sweet – (boyd)
FWD: horne-francis, macrae, smith, parker, sanders, daniel – (robertson, stone)
FLX: kako

18 players who i trust will score well and 5 rookies on field
sanders, peatling or roberts will go if i need cash for the expensive rookies
Greetings all,
First public crack for the year and cannot wait for the season to start,
Ryan, NWM, Sicily, B Allan, El-Hawli, Busslinger (Trainor, Bice)
Defence – passing on Sheezel’s early mooted forward time & Flanders is injured, so Ryan is my top 3 pick. Houston had his best season ever but also at a new club so will sit & wait on him, Nic Martin should be no worse but chose NWM as he will be better I think & is $20k cheaper. I am a massive Jordan Clark fan but not with Ryan & only 3 starting premo’s. Sicily’s favorite role should be served to him on a plate with Barrass and Battle also there this year so yes please for me.
Bont, Butters, Naicos, Serong, Dawson, Tsatas, L Ashcroft, Travaglia (Hustwaite, Erasmus, Hall)
JHF, Macrae, Smith, Daniel, Hutchinson, Curtin (Kako, Stone)
TU: Curtin
TD: Lynch
After a lot of changes.
Def: Sheezel, Mills, Clark, Allen, Reid, Travaglia, (El Hawli Mentha)
Mid: Bont , Butters, Merrett, Ashcroft, Smith, Draper, Ashcroft, O Sullivan (Sheldrick, Charleson, Kako)
Ruck: Sweet Xerri Boyd
Fwd: Daniel, Lynch, Bolton, McCrae, JHF, Smith, (Erasmus, Hewitt)
Flex Lombard
ITB $405K so heaps to play with.
Bolton with a calf issue but going to play managed minutes tmmrw.
I’d trim down an exp. rookie and whack another DEF premo in there.
Good stuff otherwise, Waldorf.
GD plan is to see which rookies get a game then trade in a premo in which ever line fits better.
Thinking a midfield without the big guns? Green, Rowell, Oliver, Cerra, Reid.
Sheezel will be C or VC every week
I am hoping Bont, Merrett, Butters or Sheezel will be OK for a C or VC. Sometimes I thing it is easier just selecting the C at Rd1 and leave it. You start chasing points every week to get burnt a lot of the time
You’re gonna cop a lot of TDs but I don’t think it’s a bad idea, Greg.
For flex.
TU: McKercher.

Good luck for the year

Some rookies are just place holders at this stage. Keen to optimise players not on the early bye who I also think can finish top of their line.
Thoughts appreciated!
Noddy O’Driscoll, anyone? 198K mid. Looked in good form tonight
Alot of competition for mid rooks. I just can’t fit them all in. Really eager to see round 1 team sheets. Hoping a couple get held back from selection for upgrade season.
TU: Holmes
TD: NWM
Question, Will there be any total team summaries/previews for 2025? E.g. ‘North Melbourne 2025 Team Preview.’
Struggling to build my team. Found these super handy in the past!
Here’s where I’m at, any feedback welcomed!
DEF: Sheezel, NWM, Mills, Travaglia, Allan, Smith (El-Hawli, Leake)
MID: Bontempelli, Daicos, Serong, Oliver, Parker, Lalor, J.Smith, Tsatas (L.Ashcroft, Langford, Hewett)

Would anyone consider lawson humphrie. Guys a smooth mover and a ball magnet. Also users ball at 100 petcent he is cheap and could be a good money maker
Awkward price $418k. Rather Holmes for more or SDK (role depending) for less.
Or Blight/Milera/Sinn who I will be looking closely at as well that fits my structure (particularly Blight).
Maybe but holmes I like him but his hammy. Yet with lawson u going get 20 to 25 plus postionz a game.
It’s one of those gambles that makes the difference Nick. The blokes game is made for supercoach and only 418k I might see if I can upgrade schoenmakers to him by dropping some expensive bench players.
Nah the early plus the gamble is too much for me
TU: Sinn and Sanders + spare cash
TD: Sicily (or premo defender) and rookie
Many thanks
I don’t see much value in Sinn BigC. Burton was the main man for kickins on saturday and Sinn didn’t feature as a distributor
Not seeing many teams with Darcy Cameron (Coll) as R1 or R2? Is there a problem with him that I don’t know about?
I see Mills in a lot of teams. What are we expecting score wise? 95+?
Keep in mind, he’s only achieved this 3 times in his career (2020-2022). In 22, he averaged 116, but then injuries, position change etc.
It’s clear he’s underpriced, but so is Caleb Daniel, Oliver etc.
Is he a stepping stone or a keeper?
I’m just trying to gauge other players’ thought processes.
TU: De Koning, Rankine
TD: Gawn, Bailey Smith
Hard choice, I upgraded Smith to Rankine but had to downgrade Max. I had TDK but then read about McKay and Silvagni giving him a chopout at each end, then I read that Darcy didn’t get fixed by an Arab Genie and wont play before round 5 so I slotted in Jacko, and riedy might be a good bench option
What do we think of this lineup?
DEF: NWM, Sicily, McKercher, Mills, B.Allan, K.Smith (El-Hawli, Leake)

RUCK: Xerri, De Koning

How did McKercher go as a half forward on Saturday? Did anybody watch?
Were there any SC stats for the all-stars game?

TU – McKercher, Rozee
TD – Sicily, Day
Thanks.
Flex- N.Erasmus
CIB- $23,500
Would love any feedback!
I’d take Lalor, Draper and possibly Kako out and bring Mills in place of Trav
Yes but who would I replace those players with? Options aren’t a plenty from what I’ve seen around that $123k-150k mark
Yeah will depend on Rooks
His fixture opens up with some soft ruck opps. Just needs solo and I’m in. Good ceiling, good bill of health so far.
Shoutout to you GD for the thread title.A great book by one of the great writers.Wouldn’t mind seeing a team reveal piece done in the style of!
Yeah got to admit it, me as well. Meek is a safer option for only $10k extra. If it wasn’t for his early bye I would change it.
I was challenged to build a team with Reidy at R2 …. I actually like it (except would need many trades and boosts to fix it up if it immediately flops!)
Def – Clark, Holmes, Kerch, Roberts, Mills, Tran (Reid, Leake)
Mid – Butters, Brayshaw, Day, Oliver, Cerra, Peatling, Smith, Langford (Knevitt, Bo Allan, Erasmus
Ruc – Xerri, Reidy (Boyd)
Fwd – JHF, Kennedy, Macrae, Smith, Daniel, Hewett (Stone, Davidson)
Flex – Tsatas
Roberts has been very much in my mind this year.
Nice Ninjas, would prefer Dale to Kerch/Holmes (better scoring role) & drop Kennedy for Parker/Sanders (roles/injury risk) but looks workable.
Perfect team for the Ninjas…5 trades a week to fix it !!!!!
Are you saying there’s another way Wighty?
TU: Butters + Short
TD: Dawson + Holmes
Evening all
Up to a version # that is far too high, but have finally felt like I have got to a somewhat settled structure and premiums.
ITB: 47.1K
Who benefits from Tom Green being injured? Callaghan, Hannaford etc or will they stick with one of the oldies like Ward, Kelly etc
I’m hoping Leake gets a run….
Is there any way of finding out the best players in practice matches that have already played and future pre season games…not a subscription site .
Heraldsun run a comprehensive report
Focusing more on premo defenders and mids to start off this year. If i learnt anything last year which continued on to this year, forwards are lacking and they should be the last of my upgrades heading toward mid-year;
Def: Sheezel, Ryan, Sicily, Mills, Allan, El-Hawli (Edwards, Leake)
Mid: Bont, Butters, Daicos, Dawson, Day, Peatling, Robertson, Erasmus (Hustwaite, Hall, Hayes)
Ruck: Gawn, Xerri (Reid)
Let me know your thoughts thanks
Daniel is the biggest lock of locks to ever be locked.
Forwards are lacking Hussy but midfielders who are available as forwards are plenty but you only have 3
Xerri has a tough start to the season: English, Gawn, O’Brien, Grundy, Witts.
He is still young, and 4 of the first 5 have been around for a while and might make it hard
Both Parker or Sanders didn’t look much better either to be honest. Maybe all these midpricers are fools gold?
Smith playing a wing role at Geelong is going to be tough. Geelong is a very narrow ground, he will end up being an extra midfielder
Whitfield-Holmes-Mills
Travaglia-KSmith-Leake (Reid-Whitlock)
Bont-Butters-Rozee-Day
Oliver-WAshcroft-Peatling-JSmith (Knevitt-BAllan-Erasmus)
Xerri-TDK (Boyd)
JHF-Macrae-Parker
Daniel-Hutchinson-Hewett (Stone-Davidson)
PS R12 bye Bont, Butters, Rozee and Jagga. Hope you are not too attached to Rozee. He is prob the one to go to restructure the Def I reckon.
Planking for the R12 bye is nonsense. R12. R12. It’s R12.
Why plan for anything then? Why not just hit auto fill!
Agree…if you can’t get a decent on field team by R12, especially with 40 trades, something is wrong.
Wow Daicos looked good, against lions, a level above everybody including Neale
agree. its just so many players already missing from round 3
Is there any reason why Dunkley won’t score well? Am I missing something?
Why are you thinking that?
Might be preferred starting options that don’t have a bye, but he’s definitely a target IMO
TU – Rozee

Insomnia struck this morning, so here’s my POD team. No player here has ownership over 5%!
Zorko, Dale, Roberts, Schoenmaker, Sinn, O’Sullivan (Prior, Carroll)
Dunkley, Steele, Petracca, Dawson, Cerra, Lindsay, Laurie, Hall (MReid, Hustwaite, Evans)
Nankervis, Meek (Reidy)
Baker, Simpkin, Kennedy, Hutchinson, Maric, Spargo (Motlop, Moir)

Where do we get POD figures ?
Should be , where do we get ownership % from ?
Supercoach Plus coaches have access to additional stats Gilly, including % owned, projected R1 score and projected 3R average, plus other features. It’s great!
Didn’t realise Dawson was under 5%. Interesting.
Nice work Chillo,
I have two of them .. hahaa
11 players missing R12 from that team. Burn baby burn! Haha. Don’t do it Dave.

Hi guys,
How come no one interested in McGovern from west coast in defence ?
Tu worth a shot
To not worth it …
I think there are 594,000 reasons not to pick him
hasn’t played 20+ games in a season since 2019. Had a decent 19 game avge for last season, just too risky for me with that history
And some teams are crap
Hey SCT Team,
It would be really valuable to understand who the community thought would be the most likely ‘tag’ target on each side.
TU: WAshcroft & BSmith
TD: Daicos & Lynch
Another forward rookie asking for a game in the real thing, Ty Gallop. Cheap too. Kicked 5 in the lions intra and looked really good in 2 qrtrs against the pies. $113k KPF but looked the more dangerous of them when it was in his area
Hey folks
Great to be back for 2025
Wondering if we could do a thread or just comment below on navigating the early bye rounds (if there is such a thing).
I remember last year I avoided players like Flanders with the early byes and ended up paying a heavy price.
Cheers
Version #432
DEF: Sheezel, NWM, Mills, Travglia, Allan, Leake – Busslinger, Reid
MID: Bont, Daicos, Serong, Dawson, Oliver, Parker, Smith, Knevitt – El-Hawli, Hynes, Payne
RUK: Xerri, Meek – Boyd
FWD: JHF, Macrae, Smith, Sanders, Curtin, Hewitt – Lynch, Davidson
FLEX: Daniel
Who is more important to start:
TU: Draper as M8
TD: Lynch as F6
Flex- Hewitt
no Mills is interesting. any reason?
February Version 2
Full team:
DEF: NWM, Holmes, Sicily, Short, Mills, Travaglia (Reid, Leake)
MID: Bont, Daicos, Rozee, Oliver, Peatling, Smith, Knevitt, Kako (Allen, El-Hawli, Hall)
RUC: Gawn, Sweet (Sims)
FWD: Macrae, Smith, Sanders, Daniel, Hewett, Stone (Whitlock, Davidson)
FLEX: JHF
$6k in bank
Sweet will become Xerri very early, maybe round 6
Short will be a close watch, hopefully he is taking the kickouts.
Sanders and Parker are interchangable at the moment
4 missing from Round 3 is only concern with Byes. Sicily only other early round 4 bye player.
i think i have 9 genuine premos. plus Mills, Oliver, Smith and Daniel as maybe.
Sweet, Short, Sanders and Peatling should be good early round scorers and easy stepping stones to premiums
thanks fellas
Sweet didn’t look very good against RoB
At least he looks to be the solo ruck at Port
Rucks are doing my head in this year. TDK was forward a lot today, not sure how much to read into that. I’m now leaning towards Meek as a safe option.
I haven’t had NWM all pre season but he’s in now. Daicos back in too back I’m still bullish on your boy Day.
Just read Ed Richards has done his calf so Sanders may be an essential early season pick now
Who to start as M1 & M2:
TU : Bont + Brayshaw
TD : Butters + Serong
Put your thumbs to good use!
TU: Holmes + Sheldrick/Kako (onfield)
TD: Milera + WAshcroft
Could be Holmes + Curtain as well with a bit of shuffling
Current version. Thoughts please? Rookies (particularly defenders) subject to change after praccy matches..
DEF: Ryan, Whitfield, Sinclair, Travaglia, Allan, Reid (K Smith, Busslinger)
Mid: Butters, Serong, Day, Oliver, O’Sullivan, J. Smith, Draper, Landford (Knevitt, Kako, El-Hawli)
Ruck: Xerri, TDK (Boyd)
Fwd: JHF, Rankine, Macrae, B Smith, Daniel, SPP (Lynch, Hewett)
Flex: L. Ashcroft
– Similar fwd line to most
TU- Bont , Mckercher, Marshall.
TD- Dawson, Sinclair, Xerri
Here is how I am travelling:
DEF: Sheezel, NWM, Holmes, Mills, B.Allan, Reid (Busslinger, Jepson)
MID: Bontempelli, Butters, Day, Oliver, Peatling, O’Driscoll, J.Smith, Tsatas (El-Hawli, Erasmus, Angove)
RUCK: Xerri, De Koning (Boyd)
FWD: Horne-Francis, Rankine, Macrae, B.Smith, Daniel, Hewett (Davidson, T.Edwards)
FLEX: Knevitt
ITB: $5.7k
Jagga to Langford now done.
Lots of tinkering but getting close to final draft.
Sicily Dale Mills Z Reid Bice Leake B Allan/Bice
Bont NDaicos Serong Rozee Oliver J Smith Tsatas Draper E Hewett/El Hawaii/Driscoll
Gawn Xerri Boyd
JHF Macrae B Smith Daniel Lynch Kako Curtin/Davidson
Jackson
Reckon Sic goes off being freed up down back. Backs are a little light but gives options elsewhere. Particularly looked at byes……r12 has 22 at this stage. No bye round doesn’t have at least two rucks.
Gone for a very much GnR set up.
Do we think this could work this year? Mainly just looking at cash gen to upgrade post the early byes. Keen to get in Naicos, Washcroft, Houston.
Team is:
DEF: Sheezel, Ryan, Sinclair, Travaglia, Allen, El-Hawli (Leake, Reid)
MID: Butters, Brayshaw, Day, Oliver, O’Sullivan, Smith, Tsatsas, Draper (Ashcroft, Knevitt, Kako)
RUCK: Xerri, English (Boyd)
FWD: JHF, Rankine, Macrae, Smith, Lynch, Hewett (Erasmus, Davidson)
FLEX: Caleb Daniel
I have gotten rid of most my mid pricers and just aimed at keepers and value – but running 3 rookies in def and 4 rookies in mid is definitely a risk. Am I crazy if I go with this?
If you OSullivan or Draper up to Peatling and then that team looks great to me.
It is best 18 for 3 or of first 4 rounds, so the rookies on field should be ok
A plan I’m considering is to start with a number of mid price players such as Short, Peatling, Parker, Sanders etc and making early upgrades to keepers coming off their early byes. Similar to what we do during the mid season byes.
Target Daicos, Neal, Merrett, Green, Whitfield, Flanders etc
Hope for a quick price rise from mid price and a little price fall from keeper.
Thoughts please…and best of luck to all
DEF: Sheezel Ryan Holmes Travaglia B.Allan Leake (K Smith Reid)
MIDS: Bont Butters Heeney Day Oliver J.Smith Tsatas Draper (L.Ashcroft Knevitt Erasmus)
RUCK: Xerri Meek (Boyd)
FWD: J.H-F Macrae Sanders Daniel Kako Hewitt ( J.Berry Davidson )
FLEX: E Allan
Rookies always subject to change after Practise Matches and Selection
Supercoach draft question:
Who would be the preferred first pick?
Xerri – Thumbs up
Butters – Thumbs down
Your thoughts are much appreciated!
If you need 2 rucks, definitely get Xerri.
Which would you prefer
TU : Sheezel, Holmes, Perryman, Mills plus 2 rookies
TD _ Sheezel, L Ryan, Holmes, then 3 rookies
Concerned about the plantar fascia injury of Mills?
Mid price madness or what?
Sheezel, Holmes, Roberts, Perryman, Mills, leake, (Reid, Jepson)
Daicos, Rowell, Day, Oliver, Cerra, O’Driscoll, Tsatas, Sheldrick, (Knevitt, Allen, Hewitt)
English, Briggs, (Boyd)
JHF, Macrae, Smith, Parker, Daniel, H Garcia, (Stone, Davidson)
Reidy
Hi all, any love for P. Cripps?
If it wasn’t for the round 12 bye, would be see him in more teams?
TU: Sheezel + Travalia + Butters
TD: Sicily + Mills + Cripps
Adjustments/general thoughts please.

Jagga Smith ACL tear. No footy in 2025.
TU Will Day and Ollie Hollands
TD Caleb Serong and Jagger Smith
Cheers
Jagga Smith is out for the year with an ACL injury. Which occurred during Saturday’s practice match against St Kilda.
What a shame. Had him locked in and was going to enjoy the show
Shame for Jagger. He looks a ripper of a player.

What’s the take on Mills- people fading him with planta fascia
Would seem we have a lot of choice in mids & fwds, but players like Leake, Travaglia, El- Hawli are on the fringe.
