Not a fan of Whitty at M5. He’s of more use down back where he’s getting a rookie off field and scoring more competitively for Top 6 DEF v Top 8 MID. MID rookies looking better than DEF at this stage.
Definitely go Dunkley over Taranto as well. Dunkley a must have and Taranto has issues with DE and role.
Other than that, really good structure and genuinely love all the premium picks. Mine are very similar, especially loving Dale.
Whitfield will at some point get shifted back into DEF. I only have him there at the moment because I can’t give up Dale and I like my def and mid rookie structures as they are. Depending on what rookies are named, I may have the opportunity to bring in another mid rookie (Dylan Stephens, eg) in lieu of a def rookie, and shift Whitfield down back before R1
Interesting one- once you get to 13 keepers like your side you are starting 8 rookies.
My side has 12 definite keepers, but only 6 rookies on field. Been swapping between both- but have decided the extra couple of mid priced ‘injury risky’ players is the gamble- with the extra trades.
Good luck- can’t see much wrong with side- should go well.
Just relying on an extra couple of rookies to be named round one- and I’m not sure that wish will come true this year!
What’s the recommended play when looking at players like Pendlebury and McGrath? Expected to gain DPP status and you would think they’ll rate highly as defenders. Do you put them in the midfield now, or wait until the DPP happens?
McGrath comes at a good price for the way he looked against the dogs.
if you have the dpp flexibility and you have the cash to get them but not true premiums then it’s worth considering.
Just be aware that there are up and coming players with dpp already that potentially are a lower risk than being stuck with Pendles as a midfielder if the DC gods don’t give him dpp.
It may be a sage move, but it comes with a risk that is beyond your control.
Based on training and the first praccy match, Crippa looks to be back in “distributor mode” instead of “hero mode”. Looks like he’s going to be much quicker to dish off by hand, with the Blues finally having some semblance of structure around the stoppages.
Hard to tell what this will do for Cripps’ scores. Think he’ll be getting more handballs, more effective disposals, fewer frees against. But fewer kicks, fewer inside 50s, maybe fewer clearances depending on how CD assess the chain of possession.
Expecting others in the midfield to start scoring better as well – Cerra and Hewett should be good for 90-100 avg, Kennedy looks like he could be going 85+, Fisher spending some time on ball could be in the high 70s, Walsh when he returns to push 115+. So even if Cripps “improves”, there may still be greater “impact” from the guys he’s feeding, which in turn reduces his scoring potential.
I suspect his scores will improve, probably 90-105 most weeks with the odd 130+.
The Blues will need to win a heap of games for Cripps to get close to these numbers .He ‘s great at stoppage but still slow to kick and to spread. This results in a heap more HB to kicks and not a heap of marks. He doesn’t seem to kick enough goals either. I see him closer to 95-105 if things go well.
Not at all. He went 119 in a 2-win season, handballing more than he kicked, and only hitting the scoreboard for 11 majors.
His scoring dropped off when he started trying to be superman and take the ball from the centre stoppage, through 5 opponents, all the way to the forward 50 and then thumping it through the sticks. Happened a couple of times, but resulted in free kicks and turnovers much more frequently.
Voss looks like he’s simplified the game again for Patty. Win the ball, feed it out to Cerra/Walsh/Fisher/Kennedy/Hewett. And when he wins a free kick, he’s got Saad, Williams and/or O’Brien running past for a give-and-go.
Contested ball, effective handballs, clearances, tackles – that’ll be the focus for Cripps, and he’ll be better for it.
Mind you, that doesn’t mean I’m picking him. Love the bloke, but structurally I may go another way. Not sure he’s a keeper if he ends up at 105, and I suspect he may miss some games here and there.
Don’t know about premiers Wighty, but I really like what I’ve seen of them so far this year. Solid list and they look like they’re humming at the moment, but can’t see any it quite holding up to the likes of Melbourne around July/August. Top 8 highly likely, top 4 wouldn’t surprise, premiers – that would be well over-performing on expectations.
FWD: Dunkley, Thomas, Butters, Coniglio, Maginness, Hollands (De Koning, Skinner)
13.4k in the bank.
Pretty bullish on Serong at M5 given the team I can have around him, reckon he’ll go 105 and be a final upgrade – but any thoughts/improvements appreciated.
The only thing with serong at M5 is that the midfield rookies are a lot stronger than the rookies down forward, so swapping him for ward and then moving Holland for someone like Rayner is probably the safer move. Caldwell might have to go to Berry after the lack of CBA’s he was getting in the AAMI series
Thanks for the input guys! Definitely aware that it’s thin up FWD for rookies – depending on how things shake up I might swing Coleman down there if there’s enough cows down back, and will probably tinker with a 4 keeper MID setup just to have in the back pocket if the rookies get real dire!
Coleman played his new role at the end of last year. 77, 90, 87. So let’s assume he scores 84 average.
+
Butters who we are expecting 100 – 110. Let’s say 105. Together they score 189.
Hewett averaged 104.5 last year when he had 50% or above centre bounces. So, let’s lock that in.
+
Raynor. Who I personally think will get quite a few cbas, but won’t find much of the ball. Two things to note. He has had cbas in previous years and did poorly, and has an injury history.
Anyways,
84 + 105 = 189
104.5 + x = 189
X = 84.5.
In other words, Raynor needs to go above 84.5, for you to consider him; which I doubt. Go Coleman and butters.
You sound like that little “know it all” kid in primary school..
I agree with you, but Raynor could easily come out an average such score, and Butters could easily come out and average less than what you’re predicting. So if you can’t handle others opinions I’d suggest you refrain from commenting.
Rayner has 2 years more size and training to the brisbane game plan. Sure he’s not been playing, but gym time to build up their bodies is usually the big difference between 1st year and third year players performances, not their innate ability.
Most have been playing footy from little league after all.
I see Rayner getting around the 80 point mark and good cash growth.
Yeah, he probably won’t make 200k, but he should be a shoo-in for solid scores and 150k cash growth.
Personally I’d have all 4, even though it’s too many midpricers for a pure GnR team.
Honestly with all the rookie injuries, Chesser, Clark, Hollands… I don’t know that pure GnR is even viable anymore for 2022.
Alright, this is probably my final team for the year, pending any must-haves and rookie selections. Happy with the premiums, the structure and the rookies at the moment. The structure is 4/4/2/3, with most of them with a very good chance at the top 6-8.
Down back I see Lloyd, Stewart, Crisp, Dawson, Ridley, Short, Whitfield, Ziebell, Rich and Sicily as having a very good shot at making the top 6. With Whitfield and Sicily, there is too much value at 2 potential top 6 players for 220k less from the top 2 players ( Lloyd, Stewart). Crisp seems to be a 115 plus lock in the mids, and Ridley should be pushing 115 as well. Coleman provides valuable DPP, combined with Chesser and De Koning, so he can swing to any line and should be a solid 85 and a small jump to a fallen premium around bye time. Sinn seems to be the most likely defensive rookie to start round 1 and keep his spot. O Driscoll and Mcdonagh seem to be good for round 1 or an early debut, and if not I will just swap them out for playing rookies.
In the guts now. I see about 15 different players with a very good chance at making it top 8, and Steele, Bont, parish are all top 7-8. Neale is too much value at 540k, and even if he only averages 100, he is an easy upgrade to someone like petracca in a few rounds. Berry seems to be good value and should hopefully average around 85 and be an upgrade to a fallen premium around bye time. JHF, Daicos and Ward are all no brainers in the middle, with them all looking like Round 1 locks with the scoring potential of 75 , and if they don’t, then it’s an easy swap to someone like Stephens. Chesser looks like a round 1 start, especially without Clark now, and provides valuable DPP swapping with Coleman. Hollands looks like he might be playing round 1 as a bit of a mature rookie, and will be swapped if this doesn’t happen. Tsitas is a loophole who might play.
Ruck – Darcy, Grundy (Comben)
Darcy and Grundy are two of the top 3, including Gawn. They go without saying. Comben’s DPP is handy, and if he doesn’t look like playing ill swap him to Hayes or use him as a loophole until he does play
Forward – Treloar, De Goey, Butters, Coniglio, Maginness, Kelly (De Koning, Long)
I see the top 6 this year as being Dunkley, Duncan, Dusty, De Goey, Treloar, Butters.
This will likely change with the mid-year DPP changes, so will look to upgrade my forward line then. Confident in Treloar, De Goey and Butters as they all seem to have strong midfield roles this year. Coniglio is very good value and will probably be an upgrade to a fallen premium around by time or at the DPP changes. Magginess seems set for an early debut and if not just swap him and Kelly out, or even bring Coleman down forward if necessary. Long seems like he will play at some point this year, but if not then he is a useful loophole, and De Koning will stay as long as he plays.
Overall happy with the team and am not looking to make any changes from here, outside of Rookies, and some premium changes, such as Parish to Petracca if I think Petracca will perform better, or Riley to Short. Please Lmk what you think of the team, what you would change and why.
I like most of the selections. And I love the write up! So much detail and justification given! Some simple changes to consider. Remove degoey with a broken rib.
And ensure you have enough cash to switch rookies in forward line. Kelly and long don’t seem to be playing early. So, you may need to spend higher and get ralp smith, curnow, rachele.
Happy to share info/ articles if you need to verify anything I’ve said. Snap: xblueblackx
As far as I can tell De Goey will be suiting up for Rd 1, the assistant coach confirmed this. Obviously, forward rookies should probably be changed, but long seems like he will debut early from what I’ve heard as a hawks supporter. I might look to move some players around to try and push kelly up to Rachele if he doesn’t look like playing rd 1.
Now that Campbell Chesser seems set to miss at least the first half of the season, I have swapped Chesser to Dylan Stephens, and Mcdonagh to Patrick Voss to get the cash for it. This leaves me with 9k ITB
Petracca is a proven scorer, they are not. Anderson and Weller are both not keepers and arent going to make as much money as Coleman and he has DPP on top of that. I would go Petracca Coleman
Thanks GGG, that’s how I currently have it but Anderson could easily have a breakout year (3rd year) and Weller has a very SC friendly role. I will stick with what I have which is option 2….M
Weller has a good role doing the kick ins. I believe he had 11. I think he is doing the role bowes had last year. Bowes is currently out. So, not a bad choice. but what happens when bowes comes back?
FWD: Degoey*, Thomas*, Butters, Coniglio*, Pedlar*, Skinner*, (De Konig*, Comben*)
* = DPP
Cash: $1.9k (cash, there is no cash)
Rationale:
Gone with multiple DPP’s* to try and navigate the inevitable resting or non playing rookie merry go round.
Left Chesser in defence ATM hoping he is right for round 1 otherwise will switch him out.
5 premium mids structure with 2 premium rookies. Would like to squeeze Berry in but no cash left. Thinking of dropping Cogs for Berry and moving the DPP’s but still on the fence as it will leave my forward line exposed.
The old firm back in the ruck. When Gawn is resting in the forward line a couple of goals will be handy for his scoring.
Punting on Degoey, Butters and Thomas all been keepers or close to it (solid scores with cash generation). Obviously would like Dunkley up forward but will be my first upgrade if he performs. As much as I like Heeney (had him in my side for the last few years), he can go huge but can also AWOL due to injury. Can’t afford a premium out in the first half of the season.
I acknowledge that Butters has had injuries over the last season and Degoey currently has dodgey ribs and is his own worst enemy off field but that the risk I am willing to take.
Any suggestions on low priced FWD’s and DEF’s with a chance to play rnd 1? I am backing Degoey in to play round 1. (BTW – I am not a pies supporter so no bias, he’s got a lot to prove this year and I reckon he’ll do it.
Degoey injured, as you mentioned. Do you think he will be back for round 1?
Also, too risky to field skinner. 6 disposals in game against Gold Coast, and had 18 fantasy points I think. Also had low touches in the intra club. Possibly worth having on the bench, but you don’t want 30’s on the field.
Thanks chaos theory. That I didn’t know. Although, if someone has an injury like that and is now missing out on training, surely you fade him.
Furthermore, an article the other day mentioned he would have a 50/50 split with Elliot in the midfield. Last few rounds 2021 degoey averaged 70% + cbas. If true, his cbas ans scoring could drop.
This team is bursting with talent on field but who’s on the bench ? I count 4x $102K rookies. I doubt we get them all you need to prioritise some cash for “playing ” rookies. These guys make the cash. You may need to drop a premo to get in the best talent. Best of luck.
Option 1 – I think there will be more SC points and approx $150K increase for each of the three if they average around 80.
Option 2 – My thinking is less SC points, potentially higher $ increase but may be on a par with option 1
I’m leaning towards option 2 as it allows for one more premium.
My Mids at the moment are Macrea, Steele, Oliver, Mitchell and Neale so have the flexibility to drop one of these for a D4 Premo and go a 4-4-2-3 and include Berry at M5
I have to go Sinn, JHF and Heeney, just because Heeney should score enough to offset the loss in points from Sinn and JHF., and it gets another keeper. Either way is great though
Thoughts
Not sold on Coleman at D4 (played well in new role last year but that might change again) Knowing how big fwd score Curnow might not be the best pick but should make money. Have spent alot on rookies in the midfield but they seem like they will get fist crack at it.
This team looks great. I’m running the same structure with a couple of different Defensive Premo’s but same Mids, Rucks and Forwards I also have Stephens over Ward and no Curnow.
I’m still a believer in Darcy , I have tested the waters with Marshall and ROB. I just don’t get enough for that extra cash ( an extra mid pricer ) to justify it at this stage.
Good team, have the same structure with a couple of different Premos.
Heard on a podacast that Coleman missed because of “close contact” but will play this week. Good luck
What does everyone think about Dylan Sheil as a steppingstone type player.
He is getting a lot of time in the middle and could average 100 or greater. priced at 65. Thats a pretty good deal. Not a keeper but could make you 150-200k and get you a ton until you sideswap him to a Premo on another line
He’s just so injury prone. If he gets injured again before he makes that cash you’re in no mans land. I’m not sure we need to many stepping stones in the midfield , with all the rookies. Pass for me.
He would need to average about 100 to make 150k. I just wonder will he get enough cbas? 50% cbas last year means he has room to move. For me, I’d avoid unless I’m sure cbas increase and I’ll be looking elsewhere. Rowell, lipinski, berry?
Feels like too many 102k rookies on the bench. Can’t see them all playing. Feels like you might need to downgrade Berry to a rookie and use the cash to get some more solid bench rookies.
Love the structure
Considering a couple of different structures. Team 1 has more depth in Def & Fwd and seems safe. Team 2 has more big hitters in mids and closer to guns & rookies than other team. Rookies are changeable.
Any love out there for Tom Powell, 2nd year players, plays mids, Hall injured, JHF should help. Priced at 70(if my math is any good), should play all games up to bye. Can anyone tempt me into midpriced madness?
As much as I am traditionally a Guns n Rookies guy, I think the combination of a lack of 117-123k rooks that are locked in for games and the extra trades we have, this may be the year to dip the toes albeit slightly into those dangerous waters…
Lloyd Stewart Crisp Whitfield Coleman Sinn O’Driscoll Dean
Mccrae Steele Miller Neale HorneFrancis Daicos Stephens Erasmus Mcdonald Uwland Tsitas
Darcy Grundy Hayes
Dunkley Heeney Conigilo Curnow Rachele Combden Dekoning Parker
Queries keep swapping defender keepers
Is Darcy’s fitness a concern?
Heeney or Butters?
Miller or Oliver?
Any feedback much appreciated
Reckon pies will look to youth in midfield. Noticed Macrae didn’t get much midfield time- and they seemed to be saying Crisp and Maynard, Daicos getting mid time.
Father Time caught up with Sidey- been dropping off.
I don’t trust Dawson’s role and the uncertainty surrounding the Crows.
If he’s out on the wing I don’t think he’ll score all that well considering Crows have no outside game.
Lloyd is as safe a bet as it gets, durable, proven with the right role.
I’m not sure about Adelaide not producing enough outside ball ?
I know Gunboat is always banging on this drum, but I just don’t see it. ROB was injured and out of form last year and that probably didn’t help. Rory Laird is a brilliant inside mid and wins a heap of clearance.
Seedsman averaged 95.8 as wingman and was named in the initial top 40 All Australian. I think Dawson is a better player than Seedsman, and he should also get some inside midfield time. I’m pretty bullish on Dawson finishing a top 6 Defender this year. He should get DPP too.
I would still pick Lloyd first but Dawson is a great D2.
Many Adelaide players had been sidelined with Covid or in contact isolation. They got many back to be able to field a team for the practice match but some others were deemed to need more training to bring them back to match fitness.
It is reasonable to assume that Dawson was in that group?
Rest assured it was not due to injury and he will play in next game.
Berry’s performance in the last practice match solidifies his M5 spot for now. If he backs it up in the AAMI series game this week, he starts Rd.1 for me.
Two others I’ll be watching on this week is Ralphsmith and McCartin. Both did well last weekend, and I think their JS is pretty decent come Rd.1.
BUT, if either of them fail this weekend in the AAMI game (assuming they’ll play), I’ll probably switch Ralphsmith for Maginness, turn Ralphsmith into someone like Mead or another MID rookie that has a chance to debut early, and then turn McCartin into a Bowey.
I moved NOD into the mid bench, so it gives me the MID/DEF DPP switch with Crisp or Sinn if needed. Also have Kelly on the forward bench for the same reason with Coleman, McCartin and Voss currently, as well as Maginness and Parker for all the MID/FWDs on the forward line. I like having that advantage if I can help it.
Also, for any Bomber fans out there, what are the chances like for Wangeneen or Martin debuting early in the season (or even better, Rd.1)?
Tex Wanganeen – “He hasn’t played much footy in the last couple of years. He’s come a long way but there’s a big step-up from playing pre-season into the real stuff. He’s a talented kid.” Daniel Giansiracusa asst coach
Team so far:
Lloyd, Dawson, Whitfield, Sinn, McCartin, O’Driscall (Gould, Dean)
Macrae, Steele, Mitchell, Petracca, Neale, JHF, Daicos, Ward (Mead, Hollands, Soligo)
Grundy, McInerney (Hayes)
De Goey, Heeney, Butters, Coleman, Cogs, Rachelle (Comben, Parker)
No Dunkley, don’t trust his role nor injury history)
Availability of rookies will determine my final structure but at the moment I don’t see many fwd rooks looking like a rd1 starter.
Wait and see what Caldwell’s role is in the second AAMI match. If he seems to be getting good CBA’s then bring him in. Otherwise, look for someone like Coleman, Rayner or even a rookie like rachele and Stephens and upgrade from there
No preseason matches for Dawson means he’s too much of a risk for a premium at his price. If you’re paying 550k for a top defender you really want to be sure.
Luckily it looks like Hollands will be playing this week so there might be some savings to be had elsewhere.
So there are really two solutions. Go for Crisp who has great durability and that midfield role, but that’s going to make money pretty tight, probably seeing me pick up Nick Martin/Tex Wanganeen as a 102k Essendon Supplimental rookie.
Or go for Ridley/Short who are fractionally cheaper.
Crisp team
Lloyd Crisp Whitfield Hewett Coleman Sinn (Kelly, Dean)
Steele Mitchell Dunkley Neale J.Berry Horne-Francis Daicos Stephens (O’Driscoll, Hollands, Goater)
Darcy Grundy (Hayes)
T.Thomas Heeney Butters Rayner Coniglio Maginness (Comben and one of N.Martin/T.Wanganeen)
Def/Mid and Fwd/Mid link
Ridley Team
Lloyd Ridley Whitfield Hewett Coleman Sinn (O’Driscoll, Dean)
Steele Mitchell Dunkley Neale Horne-Francis Daicos Rachele Stephens (Maginness, Hollands, Goater)
Darcy Grundy (Hayes)
T.Thomas Heeney Butters Rayner Coniglio Ralphsmith (Comben Kelly)
with Fwd/Def and Fwd/Mid links
T/U Team Crisp (or should I say Team Berry?)
T/D Team Ridley
Hey guys. Currently trying to save a bit of cash and wondering whether it’s worth it to get hayes (123k) as R3 or to get Akuei (102k) and use the extra cash to upgrade will Kelly (123k) to Finn Maginess(143k) so I have better coverage down forward if I need to swing Coleman down back to cover for O’Drsicoll or Sinn. I don’t think I need any coverage in ruck’s seeing as I have Darcy and Grundy. Only real use would be for the byes, but is that worth it for the less reliable cover down forward and back?
T/U – Hayes (R3) + Kelly ( F7)
T/D – Akuei (R3) + Maginess (F7)
If you think hayes will play and be a good money maker i’d keep him.
If you like Mcguinness i’d find another way to get him, otherwise you should be able to find another 123K M/F who is playing to provide you that cover. Perhaps Winder (WCE?)
JSG – I like Maginess, but only because he seems to have a decent role and should play more often than any other forward rookies. I am really only looking for coverage, and he seems to be the best option available. Do you think Winder will play most weeks?
maybe to many on field rookies crips to sicily and macrae to neale could get u the cash u need 1 rookie in def 2 rookies in mid 1 rookie in fwd foo d for thought.
Not enough def rookies at this stage, lots of mid rookies, which probably will get dpp status by round 6, crisp will be top 6 or close, Sicily won’t once all those hawks defenders come back and his role is unknown, just have to wait until round one, my only concern is Brodie, I’ve still got 50k in the bank and downgrade him to Rachele or
Maginess to free up some cash
I would consider dropping someone like Oliver to Neale, and using the cash to upgrade Brodie to Rayner, and Kelly to Rachele. If you don’t have enough, swap erasmus out for someone like Mead or MacDonald and then you should have enough cash
Oliver is a beast, Neale is old, soft tissue and most likely to play half forward and a wing role, so his cbas may be down, as Fagan has mentioned and got stung by him last year, Rayner is a trap, so no. Brodie may also be a trap. George Hewitt is an interesting one, unsure about him, so could swap him out. Kelly might play, and why pay 50k more for a player that will probably average the same, Erasmus was a quality jnr, mead and MacDonald are maybes at the minute, it’s all speculation at this point I guess. Good
Luck
Probably gone one too deep down back. Swap out one of the defenders for Coleman and downgrade Rowell to berry. This should allow you to get Erasmus up to someone like Brayshaw
$16.9k sitting in the Bank, biggest changes I’ve done to the teams premos since early construction is Darcy and Titch coming out for Gawn and Brayshaw, and Dunkley out so I can have 3 “possible premos” sitting in the FWD. I love some Dunkley but I’m willing to take the gamble on those 3 in the FWD depending on how they look in the AAMI games.
Other changes that I’m considering is in the back line. Besides Lloyd and Whitfield, the other 2 premos are constantly changing depending on whether I need the money else where, so the likes of Ridley and Crisp aren’t locked. However besides that I’m interested as to what the community has to think!
Like the team overall only suggestion would be that you have too many hiugh priced rookies on the bench, stephens, maginness, sinn, wanganeen
I also dont like the witts pick
More than likely I’ll stick with Gawn.
Just waiting to see out this weeks matches and if Watts or Jackson or even English pump out a hundred it will be very tempting. Another 2 or 300k goes a long way.
Plus every time I drop Gawn I’ve got Dirty Maxy growling in my head ‘Do you feel lucky punk ”
With my expensive rookies (except Wanganeen 102k) they should all play round 1, be good bench cover and make good ,quick money.
At the completion of round 2 I’ll also have plenty of options for corrective trades. I.e. worst performing mid pricer and rookie to the best.
Anyway, a week is along time in football and anything can change. 🙂
Just read Gunboats CBA kick ins article.
Out- Witts,Ridley, Brodie.
In- Gawn, Rowell, Dean.
I can’t wait until the teams are locked in so then I know what I’m working with.
58k itb.
I thought Clark was out for a while due to an AC, so I think you have 0% midfield bench cover which would be my greatest concern. I don’t see Nankervis or Parker playing early.
Move Hollands to mid bench and pick up someone forward dpp who is playing come round 1, or if Skinner gets a go for round 1 you can move him to backs via dpp De Koning, O’Driscoll into the mids to replace Clark, and grab a Hugh Dixon or Tex Wanganeen if chosen.
Read Gunboats analysis of forwards and breakouts today and decided on Butters.
Was worried with how hard he goes and potential of injury- but think I read his SuperCoach score on the weekend was around 160 and remember when he got injured early last year and was over 100 at half time.
Potential to score huge, breaking out, whereas just been burnt with Dusty a couple of times and thinks he’s aging and more injury prone these days.
BUT WHO KNOWS.
Would definitely recommend GUNBOATS –
‘Analysis: Breakout Forwards 2022’
Mid Price Madness but like not really
DEF: Lloyd, Short, Whitfield, Sicily, Koleman, Sinn (O’Driscoll, Dean)
MID: Macrae, Oliver, Neale, Crouch, Cripps, Rowell, JHF, Daicos (Pedlar, MacDonald, Tsitas)
FWD: Dunkley, Butters, Gresham, COGS, Ralphsmith, Rachelle (Kelly, Butler)
RCK: Grundy, Jackson (Comben)
This team was a lot of fun to make and I’m looking forward to how the year plays out. Scouting reports say Ralphsmith will come in and pick up where houli left off so I would recommend eyeing him this preaseaon .
I just read that too. Nic Nat still positive on the year ahead despite injuries. As a leader he has to step up so I’m toying with him and Grundy as my ruck options. With the midfield depleted he will have to become a ruck/rover so disposals hopefully will rack up.
Not a fan of Driscoll starting in the mids, but also not a fan of Rayner. Hard to say. I would go Coleman, Berry and Maybe switch Rayner to Rachele or Ralphsmith, and get Dunkley from there
DEF: Lloyd, Ridley, Dale, Sinn, O’Driscoll, Skinner (Kelly, McDonagh)
MID: Macrae, Steele, Oliver, Neale, Whitfield, JHF, Daicos, Maginness (Stephens, Tsitas, Parker)
RUC: Gawn, Darcy (Comben)
FOR: Taranto, Heeney, Butters, Cogs, Rachele, Hollands (McCartin, De Koning)
$30.8k left ITB
Not a fan of Whitty at M5. He’s of more use down back where he’s getting a rookie off field and scoring more competitively for Top 6 DEF v Top 8 MID. MID rookies looking better than DEF at this stage.
Definitely go Dunkley over Taranto as well. Dunkley a must have and Taranto has issues with DE and role.
Other than that, really good structure and genuinely love all the premium picks. Mine are very similar, especially loving Dale.
Nice work, Keiran. Good luck.
Hiya SCT’ers

Me again…

Comment for both
Thanks
Lloyd is the safe option, especially without Dawson now, and Stewart is coming back of a serious injury so I know who I would be picking
I keep changing..lol Let the season start
What’s the recommended play when looking at players like Pendlebury and McGrath? Expected to gain DPP status and you would think they’ll rate highly as defenders. Do you put them in the midfield now, or wait until the DPP happens?
McGrath comes at a good price for the way he looked against the dogs.
Both have to come into calculations surely if they are DEF. I have had both in my AF team at one stage but Pendles has stuck
WW….go with what you know for certain or you might be burning trades. If they get dpp after R6, then they become upgrade options.
if you have the dpp flexibility and you have the cash to get them but not true premiums then it’s worth considering.
Just be aware that there are up and coming players with dpp already that potentially are a lower risk than being stuck with Pendles as a midfielder if the DC gods don’t give him dpp.
It may be a sage move, but it comes with a risk that is beyond your control.
Hiya again everyone

Comment for both
Thanks
Commenting to say, I think you need one of Tracca or Clarry along with Steele….
Both look ripe for another amazing season.
Another one please
Cripps TU

Comment for Neither… LOL
Thanks
Is stay far away from Cripps.
Not going to make enough money to flip and highly doubt he goes 105+
New HTB rules won’t help him and for someone that had to watch him all last season, Id only consider him if he was 100k cheaper.
Cripps burned me way too hard last 2 years. at that price, you would be looking for a keeper or someone who will make big money
105-110 average on the cards if he avoids injury.
Ambitious BB
Mick Malthous….
T/U Great visionary suggesting bombers will be 2022 premiers
T/D Kangaroo loose in the top paddock ??
I didn’t even know the Bombers had an AFLW team
How observant of you Derek…..so which bombers team was he referring to ??
Fair enough. I’m still trying to get over 1984
Bombers should do good, I’m expecting them to be in the discussion
Don’t know about premiers Wighty, but I really like what I’ve seen of them so far this year. Solid list and they look like they’re humming at the moment, but can’t see any it quite holding up to the likes of Melbourne around July/August. Top 8 highly likely, top 4 wouldn’t surprise, premiers – that would be well over-performing on expectations.
Your right of course WW….just as long as the momentum continues I’ll be happy. We are better placed than Melbourne were in 2020.
Bombers are improving but top 4 ==no way
Again, for M5 (I’m so sorry, this position is driving me nuts on what to do XD)
TU: Martin
TD: Whitfield
Whitfield is a proven scorer. I would take him, especially with the extra trades. If you can get 6-10 weeks out of him then its worth it
DEF: Short, Daniel, Whitfield, Coleman, Sinn, O’Driscoll (Kelly, Dean)
MID: Steele, Miller, Mitchell, Neale, Serong, Caldwell, JHF, Daicos (Erasmus, Parker, Tsitas)
RUC: Darcy, Grundy (Comben)
Team looks good! Stick with serong if you like him. And definitely don’t switch to raynor!
Ward is ok, but Mcdonald is in the same team and is cheaper, and looks better. Stephens from swans also a good rookie selection.
Thanks for the input guys! Definitely aware that it’s thin up FWD for rookies – depending on how things shake up I might swing Coleman down there if there’s enough cows down back, and will probably tinker with a 4 keeper MID setup just to have in the back pocket if the rookies get real dire!
TU- Hewett and Rayner
TD- Kiddy Coleman and Butters
The extra cash from Coleman, as well as his DPP make him the better choice here I think
X = 84.5.
In other words, Raynor needs to go above 84.5, for you to consider him; which I doubt. Go Coleman and butters.
lol. Whoever downvoted my comment haha, feel free to comment why I’m wrong. Pretty sure I have lots of data for you to look at. I want my thumbs up.
Harsh crowd
Love this breakdown xbbx.
Alright, this is probably my final team for the year, pending any must-haves and rookie selections. Happy with the premiums, the structure and the rookies at the moment. The structure is 4/4/2/3, with most of them with a very good chance at the top 6-8.
Here we go
Defence – Crisp, Ridley, Whitfield, Sicily, Coleman, Sinn ( O’Drsicoll, McDonagh)
Midfield – Steele, Bont, Parish, Neale, Berry, JHF, Daicos, Ward ( Chesser, Hollands, Tsitas)
GGG
I might look to move some players around to try and push kelly up to Rachele if he doesn’t look like playing rd 1.
xbbx – Just wondering what would you do to try and bring in Rachele for Kelly. How would you free up the money for it and where?
Now that Campbell Chesser seems set to miss at least the first half of the season, I have swapped Chesser to Dylan Stephens, and Mcdonagh to Patrick Voss to get the cash for it. This leaves me with 9k ITB
TU – Anderson and Weller
TD – Petracca and Coleman
Once I decide this (with your help) I can post my team.
Anderson has had limited pre season.
Therefore I would go Petracca and Coleman easily.
I heard Anderson won’t be near ready round 1
G’day SC’s,
Team to date:
DEF: Lloyd, Crisp, Sicily, Coleman*, Sinn*, Chesser*, (Dean, Uwland*)
MID: McRae, Steele, Oliver, Mitchell, Neale, JHF, Daicos, O’Driscoll*, (Butler*, Parker*, Tsitas)
RUC: Gawn, Grundy, (Hayes)
FWD: Degoey*, Thomas*, Butters, Coniglio*, Pedlar*, Skinner*, (De Konig*, Comben*)
* = DPP
Appreciate any feedback.
Cheers
T
Campbell Chesser (ankle injury) will likely miss the first half of the season.
Cheers CT.
According to Collingwood assistant coach Hayden Skipworth, De Goey is expected to play Rd 1.
Is this the rib? Because it seems that he will be healthy for round 1 and will suit up.
T Rex.
This team is bursting with talent on field but who’s on the bench ? I count 4x $102K rookies. I doubt we get them all you need to prioritise some cash for “playing ” rookies. These guys make the cash. You may need to drop a premo to get in the best talent. Best of luck.
Cheers FT – appreciate the constructive feedback.
TU: Coleman (D4) , Berry (M6) and Rayner (F3) 3-5-2-2 – $12700 ITB
TD: Sinn (D4), JHF (M6), Heeney (F3) 3-5-2-3 – $3400 ITB
Cheers
Option2 surely. Are you a Brisbane fan? Option 1 all lions.
Pies fan…no jokes please!…
Option 1 – I think there will be more SC points and approx $150K increase for each of the three if they average around 80.
Option 2 – My thinking is less SC points, potentially higher $ increase but may be on a par with option 1
I’m leaning towards option 2 as it allows for one more premium.
My Mids at the moment are Macrea, Steele, Oliver, Mitchell and Neale so have the flexibility to drop one of these for a D4 Premo and go a 4-4-2-3 and include Berry at M5
Wasn’t joking. Option 2 is better. I have all 3 locked in my team.
Jeez, this is a tough one.
I have to go Sinn, JHF and Heeney, just because Heeney should score enough to offset the loss in points from Sinn and JHF., and it gets another keeper. Either way is great though
Def – Lloyd, Ridley, Short, Coleman, Sinn, O’Driscoll (Skinner, Dean)
Mid – Macrea, Steele, Oliver, Neale, J. Berry, JHF, Daicos, Ward (Mead, MacDonald, Tsitas)
Ruc – Gawn, Grundy (Akuei)
Fwd – Dunkley, Heeney, Butters, Cogs, Curnow, Rachele (Kelly, Hollands)
Thoughts
Not sold on Coleman at D4 (played well in new role last year but that might change again) Knowing how big fwd score Curnow might not be the best pick but should make money. Have spent alot on rookies in the midfield but they seem like they will get fist crack at it.
Monwy Left – $14,100
Any advice would be awesome. Thx
Best team I’ve seen on here. nailed the premos and on field rookies imo. Well done.
Agree xbbx
This team looks great. I’m running the same structure with a couple of different Defensive Premo’s but same Mids, Rucks and Forwards I also have Stephens over Ward and no Curnow.
Good work Greco
Have you ditched Darcy FT???
Sorry I didn’t see Gawn there.
I’m still a believer in Darcy , I have tested the waters with Marshall and ROB. I just don’t get enough for that extra cash ( an extra mid pricer ) to justify it at this stage.
Darcy is still at R1 for me 🙂
Good team, have the same structure with a couple of different Premos.
Not a keeper but could make you 150-200k and get you a ton until you sideswap him to a Premo on another line
thoughts
He’s just so injury prone. If he gets injured again before he makes that cash you’re in no mans land. I’m not sure we need to many stepping stones in the midfield , with all the rookies. Pass for me.
Why is someone who was injured last year always mentioned as “injury prone”.
Prior to last year’s injury Shiel hadn’t missed a game for four years.
He would need to average about 100 to make 150k. I just wonder will he get enough cbas? 50% cbas last year means he has room to move. For me, I’d avoid unless I’m sure cbas increase and I’ll be looking elsewhere. Rowell, lipinski, berry?
2nd published team.
Will definitely be tinkered with, but here’s where I stand atm. I’ll save a write up for now.
Def: Lloyd / Crisp / Whitfield / Sicily / Sinn / O’Driscoll —— Skinner / Dean
Mid: Macca / Steele / Oliver / Titch / J. Berry / JHF / Daicos / Stephens ——MacDonald / Parker / Tsitas
Ruck: Darcy / Grundy —— Hayes
Fwd: Dunkley / Butters / Rayner / Cogs / Rachelle / Mccartin —— Hollands / SDKoning
Loving how you’ve got a four premo midfield and the rest of the team seems to work! Great job.

Getting closer to a finished product. Lol. Who am I kidding?
Def: Ridley, Short, Whitfield, Sicily, Coleman, Sinn. Em: Dean & Uwland
Mids: McRae, Oliver, Mitchell, Neale, Berry, JHF, Daicos, Maginness. Em: O’Driscoll, long, Tsitas
Rucks: Darcy, Grundy. Em: Comben
Fwds: Dunkley, Thomas, Butters, Cogs, Rachele, Hollands. Em: Kelly & Parker.
13 premiums in my opinion. Got all DPPs covered.
Feels like too many 102k rookies on the bench. Can’t see them all playing. Feels like you might need to downgrade Berry to a rookie and use the cash to get some more solid bench rookies.
Love the structure
Sicily to Hewett will also pay for 2 rookie upgrades.

TU: Oliver
TD Mitchell
Evening guys
J. Berry TU
Milera TD
Have Sinn to swap either way
TU: De Goey
TD: Heeney
Considering a couple of different structures. Team 1 has more depth in Def & Fwd and seems safe. Team 2 has more big hitters in mids and closer to guns & rookies than other team. Rookies are changeable.
Which appeals most?
TU Team 1
Lloyd, Crisp, Ridley, Whitfield, Sinn, Kelly, (Skinner, Dean)
Macrae, Mitchell, Petracca, Neale, Rowell, Berry, JHF, Daicos (O’Driscoll, MacDonald, Parker)

Any love out there for Tom Powell, 2nd year players, plays mids, Hall injured, JHF should help. Priced at 70(if my math is any good), should play all games up to bye. Can anyone tempt me into midpriced madness?
Thanks
SImon
Priced at 70….probably gonna score 70. Seems a bit wasteful. Would need to sustain a 90ish avg to make it worth your while.
Garryowen Version 2.0
As much as I am traditionally a Guns n Rookies guy, I think the combination of a lack of 117-123k rooks that are locked in for games and the extra trades we have, this may be the year to dip the toes albeit slightly into those dangerous waters…
DEF: Lloyd, Dawson, Whitfield, Sicily, Hewitt, Sinn (Kemp & Dean)
MID: Macare, Steele, Neale, Berry, JHF, Daicos, Ward, D Stephens (O’Driscoll, Macdonald, Tsitas)
RUCK: Gawn & Grundy (Comben)
FWD: Dunkley, Heeney, Butters, Coniglio, Curnow, Rachele (Macguiness & Winder)
$3,500 ITB
Thoughts?
Good team.
Like it a lot.
Stuck on two defence structures. The first structure has higher quality scorers but the second one has depth.
Thoughts?
TU – Lloyd, Crisp, Ridley, Coleman, Sinn, O’Driscoll
TD – Ridley, Whitfield, Sicily, Hewett, Coleman, Sinn
I like first one, but Whitfield instead of Crisp
Lloyd Stewart Crisp Whitfield Coleman Sinn O’Driscoll Dean
Mccrae Steele Miller Neale HorneFrancis Daicos Stephens Erasmus Mcdonald Uwland Tsitas
Darcy Grundy Hayes
Dunkley Heeney Conigilo Curnow Rachele Combden Dekoning Parker
Queries keep swapping defender keepers
Is Darcy’s fitness a concern?
Heeney or Butters?
Miller or Oliver?
Any feedback much appreciated
G’day all is there any love for Sidebottom as a cheap Forward or am I missing something.. surely he will get his midfield time this year.
Reckon pies will look to youth in midfield. Noticed Macrae didn’t get much midfield time- and they seemed to be saying Crisp and Maynard, Daicos getting mid time.
Father Time caught up with Sidey- been dropping off.
Anybody know why Dawson didn’t play? Wondering whether to go Dawson instead of Seagull Lloyd
Hi Kotaredrew
Many Adelaide players had been sidelined with Covid or in contact isolation. They got many back to be able to field a team for the practice match but some others were deemed to need more training to bring them back to match fitness.
It is reasonable to assume that Dawson was in that group?
Rest assured it was not due to injury and he will play in next game.
Well, I certainly put the kiss of death on Jordan Dawson!
Now has a calf injury and will miss the Community game against PA.
Another one bites the dust. Doh !
“Ideally, Jordan would have been able to get a game under his belt this weekend but our eye is on round one and making sure he is right to go,”
“He has done the work over pre-season and has put himself in a good position so we don’t expect this setback to be significant.”
High performance manager Darren Burgess
Should I sell or hold on Dawson

Fwd: Dunkley, Heeney, Butters, Coleman, Coniglio, Ralphsmith (Hollands, Comben)
$76,300 leftover
I believe Berry and Caldwell will both score enough to become early upgrades. If Ralphsmith isn’t named round 1 he will become Curnow/Rachele.
Hey everyone, only 3 more sleeps. Let me know if I should change anything or am missing anyone important.

No Dunkley, don’t trust his role nor injury history)
Availability of rookies will determine my final structure but at the moment I don’t see many fwd rooks looking like a rd1 starter.
Let me know your thoughts?…….M
$17k in the bank
I would look at Ward to MacDonald and Petracca to Oliver
Petracca is good, but Oliver is next level
Thanks. If MacDonald gets named then I can do that but right now I am more confident that Ward will play.
TU:Dusty, Erasmus

Butters and Berry. No brainer here. Butters should score more than Martin, and Berry should score well more than erasmus, even if he starts Round 1

Wait and see what Caldwell’s role is in the second AAMI match. If he seems to be getting good CBA’s then bring him in. Otherwise, look for someone like Coleman, Rayner or even a rookie like rachele and Stephens and upgrade from there

Gawn and Darcy in ruck as well.
This team is sick..
Hobbs Wanganeen Skinner doubtful R1 starters
I would say Ward and Hobbs are both 50/50 at best to play round 1
I think Grundy is a better option than both
Don’t know about hobbs. Didn’t seem to play well at all in the AAMI game. Might want to bring in Stephens instead

So now that J Dawson injured do we panic and sell or wait and hope he plays round 1
Reckon I might wait & see.
Grade 1 strain – recovery 7-10 days so good for season opener
Grade 2 – 4-6 weeks
Be a shame to pick him and have him not cherry ripe for first month… I’m picking someone else now- not worth the risk.
Hey,
Would love some feedback on my team!
Def: Crisp, Short, Whitfield, Sicily, Sinn, O’Driscoll (De Koning, Dean)
Mid: Macrae, Steele, Titch, Neale, Berry, JHF, Daicos, Mead (Stephens, Macdonald, Tsitas)
Ruck: Nic Nat, Grundy
Fwd: Dunkley, Butters, Gresham, Rayner, Cognilio, Rachele (Hollands, Parker)
Other option would be:
1. Short to Coleman, Gresham to Heeney, Nic Nat to Gawn, Crisp to Lloyd, 100k in the bank.
I like your options better
Not seeing Treloar in any teams? Simply better options at that price?
Injury history is probably what’s putting people off.
He did look great the other day though. Very limber.
Obviously I can also just go the “Team Crisp” option with Ridley instead, and enough cash to upgrade a 102k rookie to about 140k if required.
Team right now:
Def: Lloyd, Ridley, Whitfield, Sicily, Coleman, Sinn (o’driscoll, Kelly)
Mid: Macrae, Steele, Titch, Neale, JHF, Daicos, Stephens (MacDonald, parker, Rioli)
Ruck: Gawn, Grundy (Hayes)
Forward: Heeney, Butters, Rayner, Coniglio, Brodie, Rachele (Hollands, Comben)
Don’t take much notice off rookies pls give me suggestions
Brodie is probably the only pick (outside of rookies) that I can really fault
Brodie is very cheap and could be playing in the midfield
If he is picked round 1 and in their best 22, he must be considered.
nice side maybe one more mid caldwell or berry
Sorry completely forgot to put in J.Berry in that post i only have 7 midfielders the 8th on is berry
Do you think Winder will play most weeks?
not sure but West Coast has opportunity with a whole bunch of injuries.
something to keep an eye on.
Def: Crisp Ridley Short Bowey Sinn Dean (Odriscoll, SDK)
Mid: Macrae Steele Oliver Neale Berry JHF Daicos Stephens (MacDonald, Tsitas, Mead)

Rucks; Gawn/ Grundy (Hayes)

It’s been doing my head a little abit, but just have to wait until sides are announced. Best of luck to everyone
maybe to many on field rookies crips to sicily and macrae to neale could get u the cash u need 1 rookie in def 2 rookies in mid 1 rookie in fwd foo d for thought.
Good

Personally, I would look to upgrade Maginess to someone like Stephens. Also not too confident in Hollands on the field.
Worried about nearly all of your bench rookies, tbh. Rest of the team looks sound.

Probably gone one too deep down back. Swap out one of the defenders for Coleman and downgrade Rowell to berry. This should allow you to get Erasmus up to someone like Brayshaw
Alrighty this is a possible final team coming into the AAMI series:
DEF: Lloyd, Crisp, Ridley, Whitfield, Sinn, O’Driscoll (De Koning, Dean)
MID: Macrae, Steele, Brayshaw, Neale, Berry, JHF, Daicos, D.Stephens (Hollands, Macdonald, Tsitsas)
RUCK: Gawn, Grundy (Hayes)
FWD: Heeney, Thomas, Butters, Coniglio, Rachele, Comben (Skinner, Pedler)
D- Crisp,Ridley, Whitfield, Sicily, Coleman, Gibcus (Sinn,O’driscoll)
M- Macrae,Steele, Petracca, Neale, Berry, Brodie, JHF,Daicos (Stephens, Maginness,Tsitas)
R- Grundy, Witts (Combden)
F- Martin, Heeney, Butters, Cogs, Rachell,McCartin (Peddler,Wanganeen)
Or else Witts, Ridley and Brodie to Gawn, Hewitt and Dean or something like that.
Like the team overall only suggestion would be that you have too many hiugh priced rookies on the bench, stephens, maginness, sinn, wanganeen
I also dont like the witts pick
Same here. If you downgrade a few rookies to cheaper ones and put some onfield, you should be able to push witts up to Darcy or Gawn

Nice.
Any love for Jackson ?
Legends, this is my team right now and it’s doing my head in.
Lloyd, Ridley, Whitfield, Sicily, Sinn, O’Driscoll (De Koning & Gould)
Macrae, Steele, Oliver, Neale, Berry, JHF, Daicos, Stephens (G.Clark, Nankervis & Parker)
Darcy, Grundy (Comben)
Dunkley, Heeney, Butters, Coniglio, Maginness, Kelly (Hollands & Skinner)
How’s the team looking like? Appreciate any feedback!!
13 Premos which is good.
T/U- Sam DeKoning
T/D- Luke Pedlar
Comment:- Will Kelly
Every time I open the app I seem to make changes. Most recent line up.
Def – Lloyd, Crisp, Whitfield, Milera, Coleman, Odriscoll – Gould, Dean
Sicily in and out, but not sold he will be top 6 if get a few premium DPP
Mid – Macrae, Oliver, Mitchell, Neale, JHF, Daicos, Stephens, Sinn – Pedlar, Hollands, Parker
Was keen on M Crouch, but not too sure his body holds up
Ruck – Grundy, Marshall – Hayes
Forward – Dunkley, Martin, Treloar, Rayner, Coniglio, Rachelle – Maginnes, Kelly
Had Gresham until now. Martin in and out. Butters and Heeney keep popping up, but same issue with future DPP. Will they be top 6 in the end.
A dismal 200 cap left.
Please rate and comment.

This team was a lot of fun to make and I’m looking forward to how the year plays out. Scouting reports say Ralphsmith will come in and pick up where houli left off so I would recommend eyeing him this preaseaon .

Mcinerney looks like he might be sharing the ruck time with fort more than we first though. Probably look to get in grundy it gawn
TU: Petracca and Dunkley
TD: Miller and Treloar
T/u Nicnat
T/d Marshall + $90.6k
Reckon with Eagles decimated, including Allen, Nicnat gets much more game time than in .2021
I just read that too. Nic Nat still positive on the year ahead despite injuries. As a leader he has to step up so I’m toying with him and Grundy as my ruck options. With the midfield depleted he will have to become a ruck/rover so disposals hopefully will rack up.
TU: Coleman D5, J.Berry M5, Rayner F3
TD: McCartin D5, Titsas (O’driscoll goes to M8), Dunkley F1
Not a fan of Driscoll starting in the mids, but also not a fan of Rayner. Hard to say. I would go Coleman, Berry and Maybe switch Rayner to Rachele or Ralphsmith, and get Dunkley from there
Yeh, I agree the problem is I already have Rachele at F6. I could switch to ralphsmith and free up some cash tho?
TU: Coleman
TD: Milera
Do I swap Lloyd for Dale
Caldwell for Brodie or Berry
Would like your opinions

Another option I have is

Is Jed Anderson a possible option? Whats peoples thoughts on him playing now hes vaxxed and back training with the team?
I guess more draft relavant question, so sorry if its not the place for it 🙂
Anderson is not a viable option at this stage as he requires further training and likely to return via VFL to regain the neccessary match fitness.
