    1. Just a quick reminder when posting your team..

Please put in your remaining cash.

It really helps us all, to assess your team accurately.

      Thanks peeps.

      1. I would guess it’s because you’re missing a few of the more popular Uber premos. Lloyd, Macrae, Oliver, Dunkley etc. I don’t see anything wrong with your team otherwise

        1. Yeah thats what I was thinking, but hard to tell because they don’t say anything about it

  2. Current team – Premos in * are locked and loaded

Lloyd* Whitfield* Maynard Sicily* Coleman Sinn (O’Driscoll, Dean)
Macrae* Steele* Brayshaw Neale* Berry JHF Daicos Erasmus (Mead, McDonald, Tsitas)
    Grundy* Marshall (Comben)
Dunkley* Treloar Butters* Cogs Rachele Kelly (Maginness Wanganeen)

Rookies will dictate how many midpricers I carry. Previously had Curnow and Gresham

    1. Nice team, structure is good just need the rookies to play. No Erasmus in the practice game but could still be there round 1

      1

  3. DEF: Lloyd, Ridley, Whitfield, Sinn, O’Driscoll, McGuinness (Kelly, Dean)
MID: Mcrae, Steele, Oliver, Titch, Neale, Berry, JHF, Daicos (MacDonald, Parker, Tsitas)
    RUCK: Gawn, Grundy (Comben)
FWD: Dunkley, Butters, Rayner, Coniglio, Rachele, Hollands (De Koning, Tex)

Only concern is a weaker backline and forwardline in order to attain an exceptionally strong midfield. Clearly rookie selection will dictate if this team lines up round 1.

    1. If the rookies pan out then it’s a decent team Snoidz. It’s the structure I initially went with but ended up with an extra premo in defence due to mid rookies, wait and see how many are named round 1

      1

    2. I think with limited rookies in the backline, it would be better to downgrade Titch or Steele to perhaps D Stephens and upgrade Dean to a premo defender, there are plenty of midfielders to take cover.

  4. So this is a second team I’ve set up for a laugh after my more ‘cookie cutter’ team, thought it might be a bit of fun to see how it goes. (Rookies subject to change of course) No rookies on field and $20,600 remaining.

    DEF: A.Aliir, H.Young, L.Ash, H.Clarke, G.Hewett, N.Blakey *N.Odriscoll, *S.Skinner

    MID: B.Keays, J.Hopper, A.Cerra, C.Serong, P.Lipinski, M.Rowell, J.Berry, J.Caldwell

        1. Maybe early 🙂 later it turns bad.

The thing is, one, maybe two players from almost each line of this team will be awesome SC selections, and the rest will be rubbish. Its picking the right ones, that’s the tricky part.

    1. Man, the traditional teams have 11-14 premos… you’ll have a crazy amount of upgrades, but hey, something different…

  5. Daily tinkering at this stage, but feeling OK about this one:

DEF: Crisp, Dale, Sicily, Coleman, Sinn, Kelly (Wilmot, O’Driscoll)
MID: Steele, Oliver, Parish, Petracca, Neale, Berry, JHF, Daicos (Hollands, Goater, Sonsie)
    RUC: Grundy, Witts (Preuss)
FWD: Dunkley, Heeney, Butters, Cogs, Rachele, Maginness (SDK, Martin)

    About $13k left.

12 keepers + potential in Witts and Cogs if they really fire.
    Only 6 rookies on field.
7 viable VC/C options – the 5 mids, Grundy and Dunks – from 6 teams.
Hopefully a playing/scoring R3 as coverage and bank.

Contemplating Macrae/McGrath as an alternative to Parish/Neale, but while I love Macrae I think there’s more upside in Neale over McGrath.

    5

    0
    1. Tempting swap. McGrath upside is I feel he will be a top 6 defender by years end, and you could avoid a trade when his status changes. And Macrae.. what a gun. More reliably SC brilliant than Parish, who has a v small sample size.

I had Witts, but have canned it as he doesn’t look likely for round 1

      2

      1. Hadn’t heard that about Witts, might cause some issues. Not loving many of the budget rucks this season, and splurging on a Gawn or Darcy means sacrificing another line.

    1. I cannot imagine going into the season without ANY of Macrae, Steele, Oliver, Touk. You need at least 2 of them otherwise you will be so far behind early, IMO

      7

      1
      1. I agree Horse, they are all Captains options as well.

Dre… I would drop a few of those Midpricers J Clark , Lip. Shiel ( JHF and Daicos are fine on field.) Then try to get in, at least Steele or Oliver.

I’m going cold on Big O. he has to share with Fort and it ain’t been pretty.
At that price range Marshall or ROB are better options.

Best of luck and happy planning.

    1. Great team Mav .

I have the almost the same defence,I have McCartin back and no Gould.
I can’t see Gould “the Ghost” getting a game unfortunately.

  13. Any interest in Rowan Marshall now that it sounds like Ryder may miss early and/or be managed through game time?

    3

    0
    1. Marshall is in the mix for sure.
I have him as the best ruck under $600K. Theres still some durability concerns but he seems to be tracking well. I think without Ryder he’s a chance to go 110+
He may digress slightly when Ryder returns, so keep that in mind.

      3

      0
      1. I like the Marshall pick Bozza I’ve had him in and out of my side without Ryder he goes 110 imo and great value but as FT mentioned upon Ryder’s return he will drop off and won’t get that DPP at round 6 like I’d of hoped if he Rucked with Ryder too. Still a watch but like I mentioned above with McInerney also in the mix im not sure the 140k saved makes my overall structure any better just yet. That could change post AAMI games though.

    Too many risks?

    2

    1
    1. Yes.

The bones of a great side are there.. For me starting sides are about reducing risk.
There’s plenty of time to take risks later. Everyone you start over $400K needs to stay in your side until the very end and be a Keeper. Some risk is acceptable like Brayshaw / Bailey / even Sicily and Hewitt , (though I’m not sure I’d start both of these two )

N Anderson, Cripps are not these players. They are not keepers and won’t make any money. I would drop one to a rookie ( put Stephens on field ) and get the other one up to proper Premo. Neale / Petracca etc.

      Best of luck.

I can downgrade Miller to Neale and upgrade rookies but I like the idea of having the big 4 mids to give myself captain options. If they score big on the same week ‘jackpot’. I always like to have potentially number one scorers in each of the lines.

      4

    2. If you want Neale i’d me more inclined to ditch Lloyd or Crisp. Neale is 30-40K cheaper then both and with that money you could upgrade to a premium rookie like Kemp or even turn Rachelle into a midpriced defensive option with better job security and higher scoring potential then an overpriced SF on a team that will miss the playoffs

You’ll be able to make do with Mcguinness + hollands at F5/6 once Hollands gets healthy and a regular rookie F6 to start the first game or two will be fine.

First time posting my team this year, interested in all feedback and thoughts.

The only real issue i am contemplating is whether to sack Petracca for a mid pricer (looking at Serong or even Rowell, Lipinski, Berry) and use those funds to beef up the forward line by adding one of Heeney or Thomas for Curnow.

Lastly most rookies are placeholders and will be finalised once teams are announced.

    Thanks for looking.

There is a high chance that he will share the ruck with Flynn, but even if sharing he should score much better than $200k

    1. Daicos is a must have. I’d move Cogs forward and swap out one of Brodie/Rachelle to get there.

If you need an extra 4k to go up from Rachelle to Daicos. then your best bet is probably to fade Macrae for either Miller or Bont since they both are proven keepers who will finish at the top of their lines and have the same bye structure.

That extra cash will also help you with rookie corrections.

    1. Macrae won’t change much in price.

Dogs schedule starts easy so if you think Bont could outscore him the first 6-13 rounds then go for it.

Bringing in Macrae via 1 trade Boost after Bont Gets FWD DPP in rd 6 seems a smart viable move that more should be looking at

  30. If I trade out TICH and Steele for Dunkley and Crisp I make200 k to use on my F8 and D8 who become DAICS and JHF Over the first 6 weeks T and S score 250 and the former F 8 and D8 score 30 given they only played half the games TOTAL 1680 My new team DUNKLEY and CRISP scored 200 and JHF and Daics 140 each week because they played each week because they are the best rookies available TOTAL 2040 Does mathS lie Even if you took the replacement rookie score for the 3 missing weeks it still comes up short owning TICH and Steele. Makes more sense to go 4 prem deep in def and fwd and 3 deep in the mids After all you have to end up with 6 of each and 8 mids Can’t have 12 mids and 4 fwds /def so getting and extra prem keeper fwd and def is less risky than two less mids when they are replaced by such quality NDD

    2

    0
      1. Think he’s saying start Macrae, Oliver and Neale as only Premo mids… then stack up the Defense and FWD lines.

Given the uncertainty about FWD premiums it seems very risky but a 4/3/2/3 + 3 midpricers lineup is in some ways going where the rookies are telling us to go.

        3

        0
        1. Spot on JSG except mine is 4-3-2 -4 INCLUDING butters The rookies are telling me that def and fwd will be a risk mids are by far the best choice to go light with prems .Basically with a bit of dpp I am replacing Steele and Tich with Crisp and Dunkley and gaining JHF and Daics for 2 rubbish players

          3

          0
          1. See i thought you’d split that final forward premo into Coleman + another midpricer. That leaves only 1 defensive rookie on field. Seems less risky. + there are a few good FWD cash cow mid pricers like Cogs that you couldn’t fit going full Guns/rookies.

My guess is Dunks/Heeney/Butters/Thomas + two rookies was the plan. I’d split one of them into Coleman + a Cogs type. Leaves only one defensive rookie on field (Sinn/O’Driscol/bolter) and 2 fwd rookies. Can shuffle Coleman between the lines based on which one needs more support at any given time.

11 Premo’s feels shallow, but those 5 extra trades help a lot as does having extra stepping stone players to get you to the elite players in 2 rather then 3 trades.

            2

            0
            1. Having 4 locked in Premo’s in the FWD line just feels too risky with DPP changes coming.

If you have 4 locked in and planned as keepers you will only have 2 spots open for DPP players who get FWD status without it effecting your upgrade structure. having 3 open spots just feels safer.

I have taken your points on board JSG and must admit you are correct I have had my eye on McInerney ,SYD, since last year and he has been in and out At 410k he is awkward but has valuable DPP Trading a forward prem I can get both macca and Coleman now leaving me 3 vacant spots for the upcoming DPP’S As you say Coleman is also invaluable, thx JSG appreciated NDD

    1. Scans have revealed a fracture in a bone in his foot.

Depending on specialist assessment it could be a lot longer (6-10 weeks)?

Will be updated in the Coaches box.

  34. At least Dixon from WC has won a contract and should be a great cheap option forward- be good if he gets ruck fwd at 102

    1. Don’t expect great scoring,as a key forward . WC aren’t at their best atm..( sorry GD and CT. ) I guess he could have a spike game ? Its seems to be him or Tex as the $102K options at F8.

      1. Hey,FT (or is it Fanboy),

I totally agree about WCE, we are in for a whole year of pain.

At the moment we have 26 available players and as Simpson has said we are missing 10 players out of our starting 18.

As for Dixon, I wouldn’t expect huge scores but depending on role if used as NicNat back up might help. The practice game may aid clarification of his role.
Simpson said that he was the best of the Eagles against Fremantle… but that was a pretty low base in that forgettable game.

Being an ex-Docker, I thought that you would be all over him.

        1. I hope Dixon goes well at WC . We just didn’t have space. Our tall forwards are pretty stacked with.. Tabs , Treacey ,Cox can swing, Lobb plays as the 2nd ruck and Sturt and Amiss are the future.

We also got a hold of this kid Benning https://youtu.be/rlqACWOkVIM

Might go alright in a few seasons.

    Any advice appreciated!

    1. Grundy was my first picked

Darcy is an injury waiting to happen. There were at least 2 games last year where he went off early. Somehow scored ok and still played the following week. Don’t need that sort of risk.

Awaiting for further preseason games for my F6

Worked on having good flexibility with DPP to cover lines D – F , D-M , M-F options aplenty .

Decided against Lloyd after rereading the def 2022 write up and comments.

Figured Berry / Coleman were better point scoring options and JS early on than playing 1 extra premium in forward e.g Trealor / Thomas. My other option was downgrade Berry & Coleman for McGrath or Pendlebury with future DDP status pending

  39. I swear I’ve gone round in circles already this year. Let me know what you think, I’ve made changes now Dawson is injured (who I swapped in from Hall). Can someone tell me why everyone is jumping on Crisp now too? Should I swap Ridley for him? What did I miss there… Would love some advice on my team please!

Def: Lloyd, Ridley, Short, Whitfield, Sinn, Kemp? (McCartin, O’Driscoll) (Dean now out..)

Mid: Macrea, Steele, Neale, Berry, JHF, N Daicos, Rachele, McDonald (Goater, Parker, Tsitas)

Rucks: Darcy (or Gawn), Grundy (S Hayes)

Fwd: Dunkley, Martin, Heeney, Butters, Coniglio, Maginness (Hollands?, Comben)

    Remaining Salary $13,300

So a few there I’ve had to swap out (not my first pick). Need another defender as I’m not sold on Kemp, but if the hype is good for Crisp I’m not sure how I’d get him in. Would have to definitely drop Berry to do it or maybe just need to down Ridley to Crisp…

Rucks… well who knows, I’m not a fan of Darcy and the Gawn Grundy pair had me sweet last year but now Gawns position could be shared round he may not be the point maker… but do we keep him to swap him in to other position for later and save back up to Darcy… means I’d have them all on field…

Not sold on the Fwd line with Maginness and as Hollands may not play – do I keep Dusty or do I swap Thomas back in?

Waaay too many ifs and buts this year! Any advise would be appreciated! Thanks Guys!

    1. Maybe Bring Rachele down forward for and upgrade maginess to stephens. Dusty to thomas would make this work

      1

      1. Cooper Stephens you mean? I could afford that without changing the Dusty/Thomas… but should I do that anyway? Unless you’re meaning Dylan Stephens… didn’t think of putting him in…..

          1. Ahh that’s interesting. Ok I shall do my homework on Dylan, not one I would have picked. What’s your reasons behind him? Expensive for someone with a BE of 31… hasn’t had a good run really since 2020?

            1. Everything from the preseason seems to point towards him getting good time on the wing and playing consistently. Seems like they like him in Sydney.

              1. Thanks for your advice and info.
I guess it comes down to wether dropping dusty to get him is worth it… I have some decisions to make. Thankyou!

Any info or advice about taking Crisp?

  40. I cant believe I am doing this, but

    T/U – Treloar/Heeney & Brayshaw
    T/D – Dunkley & Cripps

    5

    6
    1. Laird probably has more consistency and a higher floor, but Brayshaw costs 50k less and has a higher ceiling. I would go brayshwa. That 50k extra is big

      6

      0
      1. I don’t think there will be a better POD than Laird. Won’t average any less than Titch, not far off Satan. I’d have two of Macrae Steele Touk, then one of Laird, Titch, Satan. In a long winded way, I’m thumbs up Laird despite the extra cash

        3

  41. I Know I did this before but slightly different
    T/U – Sicily and Brayshaw
    T/D – Cripps and Dunkley

A bit scared with Sicily and the 50m being handed out everywhere

    3

      1. Personally not a fan of Hewett. when Walsh and Curnow come back he will likely be forced out of the midfield, and he’s at a very awkward price. At least sicily has a proven history of scoring and could potentially be top 6

        3

        1
        1. With you GGG, Hewett will play a role (underrated player), but it won’t be SC conducive. People talking about replacing Dawson at the swans (Stephens/Campbell), but Hewett is a big loss and hence Heeney may get those CBAs we’ve been promised for years

    1. Beast of a midfield. You will have to pray those forward midpricers you are missing out on don’t pop off. Those without Ziebell and Impy and to a lesser extent Daniher were playing catch up last year

      1. I feel like a lot of people will have similar teams this year. I usually go with a few POD’s but they always burn me and ruin my season so I’ve gone with the basic this year

last thing wasn’t quite right I was just going off the top of my head

    1. Cripps 105, Heeney 105 = 210 . This needs one trade around the byes to upgrade cripps Should be a sideways trade to a fallen premium if he averages over 100. This stays the same throughout the whole year for the most part. Fallen Premium should be around 110 to 115. add that to Heeney should be around 220 for the last rounds

Macrae 125, Ralphsmith 70 = 195. This probably needs two trades, as ralphsmith probably won’t make enough cash to get to a keeper on his own.
Say you went to Heeney around bye time. After the byes that is 125 plus 105 – 230. Keep in mind that Macrae is also a captain option the entire way though, so that should help offset some points at the beginning

I would go for Macrae and Ralphsmith. Costs an extra trade but the points at the end make up for that. Macrae being a consistent captain option offsets the points that Cripps and Heeney might get ahead with.

  47. xBBx version #3.

It is strong in the ruck, and midfield. Is it too weak elsewhere. Has dpp swing in mccartin, dekoning and at round 6 McGovern which will assist if any defender problems.

Def: Whitfield, sicily, hewett, coleman, hinge, sinn. Bench: o’driscall, mccartin

Mid: Macrae, steele, Mitchell, neale, lipinski, berry, JHF, Daicos. Bench: mcdonald, stephens, mead.

    Ruck: Darcy, Grundy. Bench: Dixon.

Fwd: Dunkley, heeney, butters, cogs, mcgovern, Maginess. Bench: durdin, Dekoning.

    Notes:
Lipinski v Rowell watch for me.
Concerned about Dixons js. O.Allen’s returns r3.
Mead: Not sure if he plays.
    No Rachelle. ☹️

    1. I’d look at trying to turn 1 of Hewett/Sic/Whit into a Lloyd or Crisp.

And try grab Rachelle for Finn.
As a Hawker, I’m not sold on Maginness, doubt he starts R1.

Besides that, I rate your team 🙂

  48. I think I am getting close – barring injuries in the next couple of days and rookie selections next week. What could go wrong???

    Appreciate your comments.

Def: Lloyd, Crisp, Whitfield, Sicily, Sinn, McCartin (O’Driscoll, DeKonig)
Mid: Macrae, Steele, Neale, Rowell, Berry, JHF, Daicos, Ward (Stephens, MacDonald, Hollands)
    Ruck: Darcy, Grundy (Hayes)
Fwds: Dunkley, Heeney, Butters, Coleman, Coniglio, Rachelle (Kelly, Comben)

    $12K in the bank

Have compromised the mids to go deeper in both Defs & Fwds as I don’t believe we will see any $102K on-field rookies. Both Durdin and Dean going down hurt.
