Rookie Review – Round 10

Written by Alza on May 21 2024

Round 10’s in the books with just 1 week until the byes start and we get some DPP additions although there won’t be many.

Freijah and Richards are the best downgrade options this week. Like last week they are hard to split with a lot of uncertainties on both players. Bevo is hard to trust but I feel Freijah may have better job security and playing down back is a better role.

This week and next week are the last chance to add some extra playing rookies to our benches. If like me they have disappeared over the last couple of weeks it may be worth trading a rookie before they are really ready to go. It’s not ideal but players like Nyuon, H. Garcia, Graham if unselected can be worth trading to add depth over the next month given we have 3 trades a week. This may also keep better scoring rookies like Wilson and Sharp in our sides.

Players on the bubble are marked with an asterisk*

Conway also enjoyed his battle with Moyle as he looks to take the number 1 ruck role full time soon. He had 21 touches with 18 contested possessions, 11 clearances, 25 hitouts and received 5 frees for. Visentini had another chance as the number 1 ruck and held his own again. 8 touches, 3 tackles and 29 hitouts.

  1. Pickings starting to get slim! Freijah for me this week most likely, I prefer the DPP swing.

Any thoughts on Josh Sinn’s JS? Has been on a couple of pre-season watchlists now, is he straight out when Rozee is back, or has a chance to play through the byes?

Also, mid-season draft is next week, hopefully get some cheap rookies for the byes and second half of the season!

  2. In case you missed any info about Josh Sinn read above.

But clearly this shows what a community this site has, when multiple people are all trying to help all at the one time. That’s what keeps this page going

  3. Thanks everyone! I read Dane’s weekend review but clearly not well enough (I missed the Darcy Jones hammie too, whoops).

I second Nato’s comment above too, love the site and the community.

  4. I have to replace Parish, so with some cash itb its him and Jones out for another premo and Sexton who is going up as much as any rookie. Sexton looks to have Graham’ spot for now, and can take Clohesy spot if need be. Plus, he will be much easier to trade at his new price.

I dont trust any of the bubble boys js at this time of year.

    1. Well Collingwood lost some players due to injury last week. Hoskin-Elliot with a hamstring and McInnes with concussion.
Collingwood have just stated De Goey will not play this week either.

  5. Looking at Port rucks this week.
If VISENTINI hold his place, do we bank the Sweet’s $86k increase and trade over… Visentini could pick up reasonable cash if he last 1-2 rounds.
    TU – yes
    TD – no

  6. Is it worth looking at guys who have had their first cash rise if you think they have better JS than this weeks bubble boys (although with pies’injuries maybe Richards lasts till bye).
Thinking of reville and McCaullife due to the injuries at Lions and tigers, just to make sure I have warm bodies during the byes.
Currently have Clarke, H Garcia and Darcy Jones on bench Jones definitley out for byes and Clarke/garcia touch and go.

    1. There is nothing wrong to it. The only minor downside is that you missed the first cash jump.
Hopefully Garcia gets a callup though after a solid weekend with 141 AF

    2. It’s not ideal but you can definitely do it and nothing wrong with them both.
Purely for job security I feel safer picking McAuliffe over Reville based on Richmond’s injuries as Bailey is back this week.
For Brisbane, Brain likely 1st out then Morris and Reville so he should hold for a bit longer at least
