Rookie Review – Round 10

What a week! The rookies didn’t score all that well this week and there still aren’t many great options. Simpson has looked good and is our best trade target. He will be traded into plenty of teams this week.

That’s if coaches can afford the luxury with injuries to popular players Callaghan, Macrae, JHF and TDK who should be back this week.

After Simpson the rookies drop off a bit. Sims looks like a decent target but as a tall forward in a team that won’t win a lot could be inconsistent. Binns has scored well in his 2 games but with his elevated price might not be the best option with his job security not providing enough confidence. Bews is in a similar boat at an elevated price and a career average of 50. His place in the side might be alright with a few injuries on the weekend but Geelong still have Stewart and Kolodjashnij to return in the next week or so.

Sims played his 2nd game and had 7 touches with 6 contested, 3 tackles, 6 hitouts and a goal. If he stays in the side he could be an okay trade target. Maley had 6 touches with 5 contested, 2 marks, 2 tackles and a goal in his 3rd game.

  1. Gees, rookies have really dried up.
When we’re punting on guys like Bews- career average if 50, and low job security, we’re really struggling!
Pity Hayes did ACL- the rookie our backline are screaming out for!
