There are a few rookie options this week with Sharp and Drury the pick of the bunch even with some issues of their own. Other options like Berry and Dempsey are probably not as good but could turn out decent still. Then there are 2 players in Sheather and Bytel that have actually lost value who could be options as well. It feels like a week where we will be taking a punt on at least 1 maybe 2 of these guys but majority are in the same boat.
Players on the bubble are marked with an asterisk.

Jack BUCKLEY | GWS | $417,600 (-$2.3k) | 44 (84) | 95 |
The Good: Ginbey tackled his way to an excellent return to form game. He had a huge 16 tackles with 12 touches at 92% with 9 contested possessions but took just 1 mark. Francis had a great game especially in the 1st quarter when he had 6 kicks, 4 marks and 4 intercepts. He finished the game with 15 touches at 80% with 8 marks, 10 intercepts and 7 one percenters.
The Bad: Cincotta never really got going and he only had 9 touches at 89% with 1 mark and 1 tackle. He also went stat less in the last quarter. McKenna had a poor game due to his poor use. He went at 50% from his 14 kicks with 6 clangers, he did take 5 marks also, but it is time for him to go.

Xavier O'HALLORAN | GWS | $274,900 (-$1.5k) | 48 (60) | 67 |
Will ASHCROFT | BRL | $384,300 (+$11.1k) | 97 (78) | 85 |
The Good: Ashcroft had an excellent game at home as he has shown already this year. He had 28 touches at 75% with 7 marks and 4 tackles to reward the coaches that still have him. In an ideal world we would hold him until his bye but with the amount he is worth and the cash drying up on our benches he may be the only option we have to reach a premium. Although with Hopper out and very popular he is an avenue to this now. Knevitt played well again to reach back-to-back 70’s. He had 16 touches at 62% with 6 marks and 2 tackles.
The Bad: Bytel was the sub again to make it 4 out of 5 games for him. In just over a quarter, he had 7 touches, 3 tackles but also 2 clangers. He is very cheap and, on my radar, might look to get him next week. Clark made his debut as the sub and had 6 touches but only at 33% with 3 clangers but he did lay 5 tackles in 25% game time, one to keep an eye on once he gets the chance to start games.
Time To Trade: O’Halloran, Baker, Hollands

Samson RYAN (FWD) | RIC | $339,100 (+$36.1k) | 77 (67) | 12 |
Esava RATUGOLEA (FWD) | GEE | $340,100 (+$8.8k) | 77 (66) | 29 |
Brynn TEAKLE | PTA | $249,100 (+$16.6k) | 67 (64) | 33 |
Ryan shouldered the ruck load this week with Soldo and Nank out. He attended 69 ruck contests with 27 of them centre bounces for his 29 hitouts. Add in 9 touches, 3 marks, 2 tackles and 5 clearances to have another good score. He has increased in value over 200k now as well as a decent on field option. Ratugolea continues to tick decent scores over doing his usual things down back. This week he had 12 touches at 83% with 9 intercepts. Only the 4 marks this week but he also had 8 one percenters. Teakle had 12 touches at 42% with 17 hitouts and he kicked his first goal to finish with 1.1. A solid game but owners would like to see a bit more from him.

The Good: King has scored 3 100’s in 4 games now and looks to be accustomed to the level after a year off. He kicked 4.3 from 15 touches and 7 marks so he could’ve gone even bigger if he kicked straight. Humphrey played his best game and dashed the hopes of grabbing him cheap in a couple of weeks. He had 20 touches with 10 contested, 5 marks, 5 tackles and kicked 1.1 with majority coming in the first half when the game was decided. Treacy played purely as a key forward and did well. He kicked 2 goals from his perfectly used 14 touches with 6 marks and 4 tackles. Jones played his best game by a fair way thanks to 14 touches at 86%, 4 marks, 5 tackles and 1.1. His score was likely boosted due to the fact most of his performance was saved until the 2nd half to help his side win along with 2 goal assists and 6 score involvements.
The Bad: Davey was a late out but was still the sub, onya Brad Scott. His cash generation has been ruined for the next few weeks and is not really worth enough to trade unfortunately. Drury didn’t back up his debut. He only had 7 touches at 57% this week with 2 tackles, should hold his spot with their injuries.
Time To Trade: Chandler, Daniels

I hope Matt Johnson makes a return this week from suspension.
Plus it is annoying when so many rookies have high BE but when you have injured players that also need trades, who do you trade first?
I’m hoping he is too, I think Longmuir said it was a good chance for him to have a bit of a freshen up to come back rested so we’ll see.
That is a tough question, if it was just rookies then you could trade out the ones that would lose money and keep the non playing ones but if it’s a mid pricer or premium then they need to go as the points on field are too important to miss out on.
Trading Hopper, McKenna and Chandler.
So far D.Cameron, Sicily and Berry are in, with 33,600 itb.
Depending on team announcements Berry will likely be swapped. Cameron and Sicily in due to round 14 byes
Hoping Laird and Steele still play this week and Baker’s average is his BE so that should be little concern.
McKenna was gone last week if it wasn’t for Ridley and Parish.
Very solid trades there!
I think Laird will play but Steele is a bit more concerning but should still play. Baker should be alright to hold again as he is fairly consistent around the 55-65 mark
An article idea, may be difficult to put together, but a list of the rookies in a table with their potential replacements to help us judge JS.
For example
Berry GCS – $123.9k – Holman
Sharp BRL – $123.9k – Rich
Could add and extra column with chances of replacement, but would rely on opinion a fair bit.
Ben King can go to hell.
I started with him and held him through five rounds of up-and-down scores (19, 70, 61, 23, and 31), then I trade him out and he’s scored 104, 100, 49, and 126 since then (and made like $150k).
