Round 13 Review (Part 2)

Written by Dane on August 25 2020

Collingwood (10.5.65) defeated North Melbourne (5.5.35)

Multiple Goal Kickers

Collingwood: Ruscoe (2)

North Melbourne: Zilch

  1. Scott Pendlebury (146). 310 games down and still playing incredible footy, maybe a chance to join the 400 club? Pendle’s notched his second best score of the year thanks to 28 touches (12 contested) and the 1 goal.
  2. Luke McDonald (144). Who saw this rich vein of form coming? McDonald had a career best score thanks to 30 touches (21 kicks), 552 metres gained, 9 marks and a great DE of 90%. Has jumped almost 200K in 6 weeks, averaging 125 in that time.
  3. Jed Anderson (140). Another Kangaroo who is playing the best footy of his career at the moment. Anderson notched his third score above 140 in the past five weeks on the back of 30 disposals (14 contested), 5 tackles and 9 clearances.
  4. Brayden Maynard (136). A career best score from one of this season’s biggest Supercoach improvers (24 points up from last year). Had 26 disposals (22 kicks), 6 tackles and 667 metres gained in a great performance.
  5. Taylor Adams (119). Rounding out the top 5 was one of the most reliable 2020 Supercoach scorers. His eleventh ton came courtesy of 31 disposals, 477 metres gained, 5 clearances and 1 major.

Other notable scorers: In possibly his last game for the season, Steele Sidebottom (117) finished on a high thanks to his 23 disposals, 5 tackles and 1 goal to be the only other Pie in triple figures. For North, it was the midfield duo of veteran Higgins (108) and youngster Simpkin (100) who also provided great final game scores for their owners. Higgins had over 600 metres gained thanks to his 26 touches, while Simpkin’s 19 disposal, 1 goal effort could’ve been better had he not given away 4 free kicks. Another Kangaroo midfielder by the name of Trent Dumont kept his great season going with a 20 touch, 94 point game, while the Magpies in the 90’s were a trio of defenders in Mayne (94), Crisp (96) and Moore (97). Thankfully no major injuries here, but Cameron, Mahoney and Scott all had minor issues throughout the game. Lachlan Hosie (54), Tom Murphy (61), Tristan Xerri (53) and Trey Ruscoe (38) will continue to make some money, while it was the first game of the season for both Levi Greenwood (75) and Flynn Appleby (57).

Disappointment: Both big ruckman in this game struggled, with Grundy (85) and Goldstein (58) returning unwanted scores to finish the round.

  1. Apologies for the thumbs-down, I accidentally misclicked and cannot seem to change it back. Love your work Dane, and really appreciate you doing this every Monday/Tuesday morning.
