SCTTL : Round 17 Review

Written by JimmyDee on July 8 2024

Last week’s top two (apologies for the non write up) George’s Phat Side and yours truly with 2510 and 2474 respectively, slid unexpectedly this week. Phat Side dropped out of the top five and I crashed back to twelfth after achieving a personal best seventh placing. Sad really, my story, but George was let down by a massive bunch of premos going sub ton, and having to play Freijah on the field, even after activating Zerrett as the VC.

Indulge me a little as I preface the review with what “shoulda” been this week’s high score. Been involved in State selection trials for bowls lately, and Saturdays effort was 08:30 to 19:40 with no time to sneak the phone into play for loops and the like (long story). Consequently, missed looping Clohesy (-36) and left Clark on field for a Ryan “C” (-43) and worst of all Clarke’s late recall cancelled out Rozee’s “E” for the round (-168).

There’s 247 lost points without the possibility of trading Fisher to McKercher for the third time this year, which was on the radar.

But enough about me, what about you folk.

Top score this week was Barry’s Jumper Punchers with a well balanced 2417 on the back of a Friday night VC in Zerrett. Second was Rohan’s alter ego Sarah with 2413 for the KidTech81 team which could have been sooo much better except for an ill week for a  Serong “C”. Alza’s Assassins scored nicely as well with a 2403, just one point ahead of Liam’s 2Ezy@SCT.  Julie’s Quick Kick Away produced an impressive 2396 to grab last top five spot.

Even more impressive is Julie is currently in 38th place coming from outside the top 40. I say impressive as she’s obviously playing competitively till the end. Keep it up Julie!

A special mention to a few of the higher scores also this week in equal sixth,  were DavidJohnsonRules and Windardium Leviosa with score of 2389, followed by another special mention to Heath’s Oliver’s Cousins down in 41st but still cracking out a ripper top ten score of 2384. You keep it up too Heath.

Could there be some significant shifting in the ranks based on the tribunal findings this week. Word is Heeney cops a week which shouldn’t affect the status quo as everyone has him, and it’s potentially a short holiday.

The other game killer looks to be a lot of folk’s recent purchase, Izac Rankine, with expectations of a multi week suspension. Do we trade?

Three of the top five do not have Rankine, so appear to have dodged a massive bullet there. How many folk out there (Like me) just brought him in as our last forward, and what do we do, supposing we have any trades left.

If Isaac Heeney cops more than a one week ban, do we trade him ?

  1. With Gawny probably missing a couple as well it might be best to just wear the earmuffs and dig a small hole in the sand…..

    1. Look on the bright side Johnno, a trade is only a trade if you have money in the bank, otherwise it’s just a swap…….

      No money means 2 for 1 upgrade…….
