Tech League Review and Trades

Written by JimmyDee on April 25 2021

We had a six pack of coaches crack the 2200 mark which is in the upper reaches of good scores, even in the classic leagues.

Phil Gilbert AllStars topped the leagues this round with 2288, old mate Golden Arches pulling a 2267, R & J Bombers snaffling a handy 2241, those heavenly Nuns with 2212, Tech Difficulties eked out 2207 and Ninius snuck into the list with an even 2200.

Kevin’s Technicoolz heads the group on 12,100 points, closely followed by Daniels Riches Tech team with third placed Ninius just 101 points back for Grace. We then have J & R Bombers and last years Champion Tech team rounding out the top five.

I know there are plenty of holes to fill, but the injury curse is making it hard to get a gauge on the proper trade patterns. What are your plans to stay at the top, or at least try to catch up. Share your joys with us.

  1. Trades, where do I start.

Have still got Prestia and now have to deal with Dunks and Neale, and I don’t even know what’s up with Zeagull.

McNeill and Scott are my only real bench cover so it will be interesting this week to say the least. Saving grace is there’s $1.2 mill to swap out players but it doesn’t do much for upgrading, or cash building a war chest, although I think this year’s war chest might end up being a Tupperware container.

  2. 2105 in tech league this week, with a donut on the back line, (Ridley, Howe and Highmore) hope for better with at least Ridley back next week. Captain Ziebell helped.

Got Neale to deal with, but trades going to be a real issue in this, along with cash generation (gee its tough enough with main team) Will wait for injury report, seriously considering a hold, even at 4 to 5 weeks and hope it pays off at the end of the season.

    1. Issue of also relying on Flynn at R2 which is ok till he gets dropped for mummy again, at that point I’ll need cash from Neale to bring an half decent ruck in.

  3. hmmmm … carnage is the word for the last month.

We cannot continue trading out injured guns for guns … at least not at a like for like value … if we are to do that then I think we have to trade out say a neale / dunkley type to someone that is a “gun” or fallen gun … to make a cash profit in order to have cash for other trades ….

Rooks outside of the Sydney ones are failing or very very slow … and trading one rook to another is not creating enough cash for upgrades either.

I’d been trying to hold or get in rookies as much as possible to generate cash … but losing a gun every week is killing that. Not sure what to do now … the only good thing is not having Dusty … but losing Dunkley, if he is indeed out for a length of time, will hurt … as he has been my best player.

Had a look at the good fathers side and somehow he has managed to get Gawn in, get Macrae in and keep Danger … he also doesn’t have Dusty … so I think his side is sitting very strong, despite the outs. He did this by dropping Neale before he lost all his cash … nice call.

I have no idea where to from here now … it’s a big mess … as is my main OA side … too many underperforming rooks and guns dropping likes flies every week …

    1. Thank you!

Having Dunkley, Danger, and Howe, I’ll have to do something with two of them. Probably hold on Howe if I can since cheap defenders incoming. Means a hopefully keeper forward and a hopefully keeper mid this week. Never been able to predict my trades early in the week. Was thinking Neale last week, ended up with Dunks, who at least scored better and made money before the forced trade.

  4. Phil Gilbert Allstars coach made many of his selection decisions after a few Friday arvo beers. I doubt that practice is sustainable for long term success. He sometimes wakes up on a Saturday morning and asks “where did my trades go?”

  5. Real happy to finally see Tech Difficulties have a cracking score. Bringing in Duncan last week made a real nice impact to the team.
This week it is looking that Neale has to make way and then Gulden is very likely to cop the flick as he should now have a high BE and has made the 300k mark.
All that leftover money will be then used next week for maybe someone like Flynn.

  6. My best week by far, lucky not to have Dunkley in my team. Trades at this stage will be Neale and Campbell to McCluggage and Keays. Will leave me with 19 trades but no cash and only 5 rookies on field
