It’s my view that unlike previous seasons it makes sense to get rid of non playing players rather than those struggling to meet their break even. I seem to be short of bench numbers each week with players like Sturt, Brander, Noble, Rivers. Not to mention Pickett, McInerney, Bennell. Given it looks likely the timelines between games will become shorter there will be more changes, rotations and rookies I’m thinking that instead of getting rid of players like Starcevich and Budarick who seem to have reasonable job security I get rid of people who aren’t playing.
I’m happy to roll the dice that the next guy i trade in the Starcevich will stay in the side and score better than 30 a week.

As far as SC scoring is concerned, it will be top 18 scores counts regardless whether there are 2 bye teams or 6 for the round. Will we be able to make 3 trades in a bye round? Wish I had saved more trades now!
Heard Travis Auld on Footy Classified and again on SEN this morning talking about the upcoming fixture. Expect ALL teams bar Essendon and Melbourne to have a bye across the four rounds in three weeks period.
That makes sense – 4 teams to have a bye in each round…
I guess these may be some of the byes:
CAR & HAW – rd 9 (before they fly to WA);
COL & GEE – rd 10 (after they finish playing in WA);
FRE & WCE – rd 12 (after they play CAR & HAW in WA)…
With no ‘double round’ for Ess v. Melb, those that got screwed in R3 have now lost any slim chance to recoup those points.
Maybe(?) with the “no bye” we will get points for Gawny and co. in an extra round during that cluster.

Anyone trading in Jack Steven this week? A lot of talk about a double downgrade/upgrade, but is there anyone thinking a downgrade and then going semi sideways from a rookie to someone like Jack Steven who’s listed to play in the middle? It’s definitely a risky move but worth big rewards if Steven can get himself into some form.

If Simpson did a serviceable job he will (should) be doing it again.
Don’t forget a player by the name of Narkle also needs his roll covered as well.
He’s on my target list and I definitely plan to get him in at some stage. I think that he starts to play more consistent games in the back half of the year, and I’d be surprised if he isn’t playing back-to-back on the stretch into the finals, and for their entire finals campaign.
There’s obviously a lot to consider with Stevens, but with this season being one for moving quickly and aggressively, the upside on upgrading a Tom Green or Caleb Serong type into Stevens is too big to ignore.
Steven’s price won’t change much this week, even if he scores say 90. I’d need to see at least one more game from him around that mark to bring him in, and even then, I’d be worried about Duncan because I think he’s only out for another week or two.
