    • The thing that will have me hold spp is that we know he’s not that bad as a player. Hard to know if it was him, the team or all of the above. Absolutely won’t be on-field again though…

    • I’d hold mate.

Brad Scott for whatever reason was reluctant to give him a fair amount of game time (only 57% TOG), even though he proved himself more than enough in the pre-season, especially with his clearance work.

Had he have gotten anywhere between 70-80% TOG at least, like most of the other top rookies who started, he would’ve scored around 70+. If that was the case, no one wouldn’t even be considering trading him.

Keep in mind he got 18 touches too, which is still pretty good for that amount of game time, efficient or not.

Bombers face the Crows in Melbourne next round, so my guess is he’ll get a better go.

But in the actual contest and stoppage he looked great could find the pill an clean getting it out to team mates.. I think I’ll be giving him one more week to redeem himself scott just needs to increase his TOG.

What I hated was he scored so poorly in a romping win. Get smashed by 90 points, fine. But to do the smashing and only muster up 62? Yowza.

Will be hard to justify holding if he spuds it up before his bye.

But its a 50/50 call on him getting at least 6 games in his current role.

Funnily enough I trumpeted these two guys and in the end didn’t pick either of them. Wish I trusted my gut. Leaning toward Freijah he looked impressive after the first quarter.

I know that sounds stupid, but I really hate it when my midfielders play at full forward like Zach did in the second half.

    • I feel your pain – I also have no Smith and no cash. Now I debate my choices of which rising star Day or McKercher is making way for him. It won’t be this week, I wouldn’t think.

I have had Zach every year for . . . years, and only left him out at the last minute. I think his role is fully outside this year, but unlikely to be full forward too many weeks. Based on a sample size of one game each, Smith is going to outscore him every week.

I want to avoid having too many trades to make on the week of price changes and I want to make sure there’s no one to get from Sydney and hawthorn on the bubble this week. For the latter point I’m looking at Corey warner, for the former I’m looking at Lindsay and nod. Is it worth getting Corey warner?

Thumbs up – Corey warner (nod and Lindsay next week if they still look good)

        So maybe either:

Perryman & Jackson to Freijah / SDK & TDK (as per Johnno’s post)

      • Yes I know why you say that Johnno and I totally agree up to a point, but the lack of trustworthy defensive rookies forces my hand I think. There are many pieces to this that it seems to fix. Collingwood smashed Port and Perryman was used as a tagger and got 62 points. Powell-Pepper got 18 points. 80 points between them. Smith was top scorer on the ground in the Geelong Freo game 147 points and is highly owned. I was dumb to fade him. Bice started as sub for Sydney. Callaghan has got 248 points from 2 games. Brayshaw allows the cash to make it all happen and it saves at least one trade, maybe more. I’m not sure if I have seen anything this year yet that says Brayshaw outscores Callaghan by much at all.

He did start a bit flat last year too but came home brilliantly and I’d be hoping that he fires up next week

  19. Selected JHF as a keeper. Not so distressed at his tagged R1 performance that I desperately want him out but would like to get Smith in before his first price rise. He looks (from the single game) like a top 6 FWD. I figure JHF will not rise to the point that I can’t get him back in later with the standard sequence of 1 ups and 1 downs.

Would also like to switch SPP for Lashcroft (traded him for Lalor when he was named sub). Again, SPP will certainly have better games but don’t want to miss his first rise.

SPP and JHF have Tiges next week, Smith has Saints anf Lash has WC. Should all be murders.

I wanted him after a full pre-season this year, & also after he averaged over 100 in the last 7 x rounds last year.

However, his work rate on the weekend was poor – just jogged from contest to contest, and with no real grit & determination when he was actually in the contest

He was a very different looking player from last year IMO

It could have just been an ordinary week from him, so am giving him another chance – but he really needs to step up his intensity this week versus the WCE to survive in my team going forward

Keep in mind we can only make a maximum of 3 per week. Don’t want to be stuck in a situation next week where I miss one of these rookies. If it was injury concerns, nothing has changed. If fact it’s not smart to trade into an injury prone player if you gave to then trade out.

After reading the first 10-20 comments I’m concerned about our panic trading.

Yes, it’s all relevant to worry about this week, but it’s only best 18 remember.

So shouldn’t we be concerned only about Swans, Pies and Hawks to trade?

I’m currently only trading Meek and Perryman, who I see least chance of maintaining BE.

I think/hope Day will be ok.

So people take a deep breath and look at sharpening the axe for next week.

      • In a lot of cases, I don’t think its a case of panic trading. I think its more a case of coaches wanting to make multiple corrective rookie trades so preferring the option of doing 1 or 2 trades this week, then another 1 or 2 next week. Rather than none this week and using a boost to make 3 next week.

  33. Call me crazy but considering the following..

    This week:
    NWM > SDK
    Stone/Camporale > Levi Ashcroft

    Next week:
    Tsatas > Lindsay
    Roberts > Whitfield

I know it seems aggressive and people will ask the question; why on earth would I consider trading out NWM? The answer is because I can’t find another way to free up the funds to accommodate the likes of Levi & Lindsay and he is probably my ‘worst’ premo if that makes sense. It also allows me to bring in SDK who looks set to make a fair stack of money. I can be ultra aggressive and move Roberts on his bye next week to whitifield who has come off his bye. I know Roberts has more money to make after next week however so does Whitfield. I am playing for overall and I feel as though he could be a massive pod early due to his bye. Can see him being 650k + for the majority remainder of the season. These moves also allow me to move a rookie such as camporale or stone who look to be slow burns and have major job security risks to someone like Lindsay who looks like almost a must have after watching him over the weekend.

Lengthy read, would really appreciate the feedback. I have traded aggressively early to set my side up and it has paid off in the past.
    Thanks in advance!

  37. Currently own the likes of Perryman, SPP & Tsatas

    And don’t own L. Ashcroft, NOD & X man

Am I crazy for not feeling thurge to trade this week? Don’t wanna be to reactive and give these guys another week to see how they go.

TU – Hold trades and can make some corrective trades next week with more knowledge and data

TD – No, trade. the rookies I don’t have are must have’s and need to get them in before more potential issues arise next week.

    Cheers Legends x

  39. Why are people so set on being conservative and waiting to trade next week?

I get you don’t need to be super aggressive but no matter how good your starting team is, I’m sure there will be a few spots you can fix and players you missed. We know the majority of roles by now and it’s a matter of getting these trades sorted before the initial price rises. What happens if your in a position next week where you need to make 4 trades and can save yourself by making 1-2 this week or even save yourself a boost?

I feel as though being aggressive early can set you up in good shape, whilst being wise of course. Food for thought..

    • Me personally Niko, I have picked my side for a reason and 1 week isn’t a great sample size. Eg SPP, Tsatas and Perryman. SPP has RIchmond this week at home and will have to show something after a poor week last week. The other 2 I wouldnt hate seeing another week to see what roles and TOG are. Plus also it’s best 18 this week which I believe makes a massive difference to if it was normal best 22. If it was best 22 I’d be way more aggressive, so let’s see what happens i guess.

      • I agree mate, but are the bare minimum I think we need to be grabbing the ‘must have’ rookies this week. I missed Lashcroft personally and I am looking at all the ways I can get him in this week as I’m sure next week there will be multiple issues we are dealing with.

        • The ‘must have’ rookies are only the cheap $119k ones. Expensive rookies don’t make as much cash, it’s all about Return in investment.

Make sure you have any cheap rookies in the bubble next week

  40. Very sideways, but thoughts on trading Petracca for Dunkley? I don’t normally, however considering the point chase against Eagles this week?

    TU: Yes
    TD: no don’t be silly

  41. Need to free up funds to bring in Levi Ashcroft & Xavier Lindsay. I dont really have any players that I started that I’m willing to trade out though.. perhaps Cerra? He has been seen to be training with the defence this week.

    Cerra > Levi Ashcroft
    Rookie* > Lindsay

    This will leave my the funds next week to do;
Matty Roberts (on his bye) > Whitfield.

Will also leave my with roughly 90-100k itb for my next upgrade.

I know Cerra isn’t necessarily a trade out, however I didn’t start the likes of Perryman/Sanders ect. Playing for overall. This will give me the opportunity to get the necessary cows too. Thoughts please!

Tu; Go for it, nailing the rookies are key
Td; Just trade Tsatas > Ashcroft this week and re evaluate next week

    • Before people come at me for considering this play.. remember this is a trading game and overall I think it could leave me it better shape long term. It’s about the overall net at the end of the day rather than the individual players.

    • I’ve got no objections to being aggressive but I’d just go for Tsatas/rookie to Ash for now. Getting that out of the way allows you to blast off next week more informed.

Cerra threatened a big score v Tigers. Fixture opens up too. Back in the pick.

      • Do we have concerns that Cerra was training as a defender? He went behind the ball last week when Doc came into the side. Probably over thinking this one, just trying to get creative.

        Also, Levi is must surely?

        Appreciate the feedback!

  42. I think I’m probably gonna wait one more week to have a look at them but who goes for LAshcroft if I pull the trigger this week?

    TU: Tsatas
    TD: Garcia

    • I’d get one more look at Long cause he has the bye next week. He might go up $30-50k but he’s already elevated and it would be good to see another bigger score after his (sub affected) 30 in round 1

    • Long will go up by $50k if he scores 72 this week if he scores 72 in his game after next he’ll go up by another $53k.
With so many trades available I’d do it but I’d get Warner this week instead of LAshcroft because warner will go up $45k if scores 60 this week and another $38k if he backs it up with another 60. Thats a good return for a forward

  44. Had a godawful start to the year but trying to hold my nerve and just do Sanders – Smith this week.
Starting Meek over TDK is stinging like crazy but I’m resisting the temptation to sideways trade.

Need to pull the trigger on above this week as will probably need to get Baz in next week. Leaves me room for 1/2 corrections
    TU Yes do it

  46. Would usually wait a week to bring in ashcroft or lindsay but with Lynch, do we think I just make to move now, didn’t see much from lynch suggesting he will make any more money than those boys anyway if he gets on the park and can make it work with hewett and hall dpp on mid bench

  47. SPP & Lalor to Hall and Lashcroft this week.
Allows me to move Perry & Flynn to SDK & Smith next week.

The way I see it, I lose 2 earners in Lalor and Flynn but gain two in Hall and Lash. Losing Flynn sucks but I can’t get to Smith otherwise (without trading JHF who I bought as a top 6) and I want to get what looks like another top 6 FWD at ground floor. I also lose Perry, whose role as a tagger will surely reoccur.

End up with FWD: JHF, Rankine, Smith, Macrae, Daniels and one of Kako/Hall/Davidson onfield.
Only really losing Flynn’s CG and flex value.

    • Nah. May and Lever are higher use than most key backs and Salem’s bopping around in basically the same role.

Bowey will tease but not be a long term pick.

  48. Hi All, good luck with the round.
Like many I am struggling down back.
I can just manage; Tsatas, Garcia and Travaglia to SDK, Hall and Lindsay.
This moves Paton forward (if he keeps his spot) and then one rookie on field in defence.

    TU. Yes do it.
TD. Just Travalglia to Lindsay and have another look.

    Cheers

  49. These are likely my moves if/when Day gets a value increase.

W Day > B Smith (switch Smith to FWD)
    Garcia > Lindsay
    Perryman > Whitfield

They have to be done in that order so will also get another round of data to see if it needs re-assessment.

    Sound Decent?
