  1. I was going to do no trades but if you dont have both Gawn and Xerri you arw stuffed no matter how strong the rest of your team is.

So going to do Reid, Marshall, Cleary to Gawn, Holmes Gray / Clarke

Still have lindsay, levi, hewett, fonti so still should be able to finish team though may need to run a cheap 23rd

    • Depending on your trades and cash gen, this move could derail your season completely. For me personally, it’s going to be hard enough to get full premo with only 16 trades left and only 3 bench rookies playing. I have Reid, Kiddy, Long, Lindsay, Ashcroft and Flex to go and 300k in the bank. Even Tom Stewart is looking good to me right now lol

  2. Okay I’m in a pickle. My side has not gone great this year so far

DEF – Sheezel, Ash, Zorko, Clark, Roberts, Reid (Carroll, Leake)
MID – Merrett, Hewett, Neale, Serong, Rozee, Cerra, Ashcroft (Boxshall, Hustwaite, El Hawli
    RUC – Xerri, TDK (Boyd)
FWD – Smith, Rankine, Macrae, Daniel, Hall, Cleary (Simpson, Kako)
    FLEX – Flynn

    $189k ITB, 19 trades (3 boosts) remaining.

Lots of problems needing to be fixed, but don’t know which ones to fix first. Any advice?

    • Think you have missed listing one of your MIDS?

Your forward line is quite weak (especially with Macrae currently out injured), therefore maybe use your $189k cash to do something like:

Zac Reid to a well priced premium defender like NVM or Josh Daicos or Laird

then Max Hall to Campbell Gray

then Cleary to a premium forward like Warner or Petracca or Martin

got reid, jiath, maric, humphrey, and carroll.
Issue is, ive only got 16 players playing for next round with the byes, and the only player with the bye next round out of who i just said is carroll.

      • I voted down. Probably need more info like how many trades left. Aside from Cerra having a bye doesn’t seem a great trade, Daniel either. With all the carnage the last 2 weeks there must be more pressing issues? Reid and Flynn yep, not sure about the other 2.

          Breaking it down.
Reid to Whitfield – required and plus 30 points per week
Daniel to Daicos – plus 15 to 20 points per week, including plus 110 points this week
Cerra to Zerrett – plus 10 to 15 points per week, including plus 110 points this week.
Flynn to Clarke – cash generation

    • I think you are correct Wighty.

I imagine Gray will be in and out of the team according to Balta’s availability.

Maybe the needed cash and DPP are the reasons to make the risky trade. As long as coaches are aware that Gray doesn’t have a solid weekly job security.

        • Helps that he plays for the Bombers, hey Wighty.

I think coaches are just looking for any rookies that can stay named in the team consistently and not be either starting sub, or get subbed off, or get injured. Any of them around the corner??

    • I held him, he’s scored 99 and 130 since most coaches traded him out after that abysmal 64.
Worst case, I can upgrade him over his bye for a fallen premium (or uber premium if a few rookies actually play games and make money).

  12. Season is well and truly off the rails due to some poor decisions with sideways trading premos before they’re ready, and thus needing to hold JHF and Macrae;
This does leave me with just the 15 trades left, and a few too many rookies to still get off the field, but gets 1 more off the park at least, and leaves me space to go to bont next week.

        • general plan is to trade out your ‘rookies’ on their bye and bring in your premiums after their bye.

round 12 is the one round where you can’t really bring anyone in, unless you have one bye round that you don’t have many missing (ie round 13?)

if you don’t want to hold Weitering or saad, this is the week they can go, but any keeper you bring in still has their bye. You could look at a keeper from r16 like Neale or Merrett.

          Bice can go round 14

Reid needs to go now, too much dead cash.

Simpson and Hustwaite can go, they are dead rookies, a sideways trade to another rookie isn’t a bad move, it gives you a warm bodie on field over the byes and starts your cash generation

    • I’m a fan of this. As confirmed on the afl site today, the Cats have the easiest run home and we have the flex position now. That 23rd spot is made for someone with a high ceiling, someone like Jezza.
If the rest of your team looks good ( and I reckon yours does, Derek!) then I say go for it

    • Nah. Not a fan, Derek.

Cats too balanced going forward. Cameron targeted at 15%, 2nd to Neale at around 17.5%. That’s very low.

I was at the game last week. Cats with heaps of avenues to scoring and don’t mind how they get there.

He’s had bags of 5 and 6 for essentially flat tons.

Doesn’t have the ceiling due to system to balance out the inevitable quieter scores.

      He’s also no longer value.

Kozzie is nice. Played on full CBAs but don’t like the price or punt on the Dees season long.

I’d be dealing with FWDs last, at the end of the byes. Let whoever sit there at F6 till then.

    • i would be cleaning up your dead rookies

Reid is injured and too much cash to hold.
Hayes is gone for the season (but has no cash)
Stone might still play and has a handy DPP
Same with SEH, has a handy DPP
Simpson is out for most of the season
Campo might get a game but has no cash
      Hastie should play soon

as usual, not many good rookies to pick from (might have to wait for teams) but Gray and Clarke might be ok cheapies.

as a minimum i’d be trading out Reid, Simpson and maybe Stone to Gray, Clarke and a keeper

you should have $598k to spend on a keeper this week. i like Merrett because he has a r16 bye

    • Reid plus your cash will get you keeper (under $567k) this week (via El-Hawli to defence). Too much dead money not doing anything this week.

The keeper you get this week still has a bye to contend with, so it comes down to your ‘best’ bye round who you could get. Dawson, Green, Miller, Rozee, Heeney, Serong all good picks at that price.

all other upgrades you need to target the premiums as they come off their bye.

You could also look at getting rid of the dead rookies this week. Simpson, Hustwaite, Stone. Jump on any decent looking rookies so you have some cover over the byes and some cash generating.

  22. So for next week – should I be looking to trade in Bont at $643K (which means 2 downgrades this week for the cash needed) or am I better off looking for better value in the under $600K players instead?

TU: If you want Bont, get him next week after his bye – may not get much cheaper
TD: Forget Bont until later in the season when he may appear for less money and trade in a Green / Libba / Merrett / Rchards / Dawson like player

  23. I am very keen to get your thoughts.
Campbell Gray $119,900 is the most traded in player this week and on paper looks like the best bubble rookie – but does he hold his spot when Balta is back? What is his job security?

The other Richmond rookie – Kaleb Smith $127,100 has played 4 games with 3 of them as the sub. Last week he had a full game and had 20 disposals off half back for 69 Supercoach points. But does he hold his spot? What is his job security?

Who has the better job security?
    TU – Campbell Gray
    TD – Kaleb Smith
