  1. I have to trade Hall.
I have 6 trades and 65K in the bank.
I have looked at my options and am seriously considering trading in N.Daicos
However, maybe Collingwood will rest him for the North game.

  2. I think I should be able to get this trade done.
Just not sure of the final make up of it.
I have 10 trades and 3 boosts remaining.
    103k in the bank.
    Out – Hall, G.Clark and either Cripps/Green/Rozee
In – Dawson, Steele and Worner
I am leaning towards trading Green due to Rozee’s ceiling although if Butters back it may adjust my thinking.

  3. Won’t even get into why, but Ridley has been a horrific starting pick and headf*ck every week. Plan originally was to get him up to Stewart. Similarly, Big O has been a complete bust as my Preuss replacement. Both are liabilities and need to go.

    Thinking:

    Ridley -> May
    Big O -> Naitanui

Need to go down to someone from Ridley for the cash to improve O and think May fits the bill. Injury and off-field drama behind him and looks to be back in business. Not starry eyed about him. Floor of a key defender, good ceiling, balances out for 90~.

Then O to Nic Nat is a major gain on points. He’s the highest PPM ruck, does huge contest and HO work, will be an insane POD and, obviously, he’s one of my favourite players of all time. Today’s performance was compelling.

Obviously has issues with TOG and injury profile, but I’m not loving the alternatives:

    – Gawn: obviously a god but that PCL and now syndesmosis profile is not inviting
    – English: sacked him this week and honestly happy to bet against him, has a horror ruck run (despite, yes, doing heaps of around the ground work) and that recurring concussion issue means he’s one flush hit away from being gone again
    – Witts: been a beast this season and props if you started him but 2x 60s in the last month, just feels like I’ve missed those monster scores

    *own Darcy

So, yeah, looking forward to getting Riddles and O off my books. Thinking May and Nic Nat are the play.

    • English should be back this week, he’s the obvious option although I don’t now love his concussion profile and opp. ruck run home. Could easily reprise his F1 title if he comes back with no problems though.

Cogs would be the other one.

Nice work drilling all of Bont, Libba, Dunks, Brodie and Parker btw. Strong!

  5. On the lookout for cheap D7/ M9 / F7 options? Here are some worth considering.

Dayne Zorko (M/D): Hamstring is held together by hope and belief at this point in the season. A 6 this week will see him around $310k in 3-4 weeks. That price is ludicrous for someone who reliably scores 100+.

Tim Taranto (M/F): Annoyingly score 110+ this week, so his price will float around $420k for the next while. Picking him is taking a gamble on his position in this new-look Giants team. In my mind though, that’s a winning gamble.

Zac Bailey (M/F): Has slipped a lot, and likely to bottom out around $320-$350k. Very mercurial player, but might go well in a loop?

    • What about Keidean Coleman?

With Rich & Zorko both going to miss at least a week, Coleman will be the sole distributor on the backline.

      438k – defender/forward status – 5 round average 92, 3 round average 101.

Seriously looking at him myself if Butters doesn’t get up this week.

  6. Time to move on Tom Mitchell… got about $550. Could persist(but get the feeling coach & other players don’t really support him). Touch and go with making finals so need to sideways with better upside.
TU- obvious one is Steele for value, upside & POD.
Considered Petracca- but Adelaide leak to mids and don’t like his finals run.
TD- Keays- pod & great finals draw.
    Thanks all!

$515k to spend on Hall’s replacement. Thinking May with an eye to him becoming Stewart but am very open to suggestions.

      • For me Laird is the standout here. He is just so consistent.

        5 round average of 130.

He hasn’t been under the 100 since round 3 when he got injured and still scored 93. You are paying top dollar but he’s worth it.

        Keays is Kmart Laird
Has a great fixture , but has been playing forward a fair bit, and relied on a few goals last week for his big score. I would prefer Steele for only 13K more.

Darcy and Gawn would be great choices but have both had injury issues already and I would prefer a midfielder if you can.

Walsh is awesome to own, but his role changes a heap so isa bit less consistent.

Steele is probably the best value of all, he does have a pretty hard fixture for the remains games with only Hawks and an improving WC as “easier” games. He also plays FRE, WBD, GEE, BRIS and SYD

Basically if its your last upgrade go Laird. If you need to save some cash for a luxury sideways or future upgrade. Steele should work out fine.

I do love Mills, his ceiling is very appealing. Horse is just messing with his role too much. I ended up going Laird mainly based on his fixture.
Laird may never go 200+ but is a is 100% mid. Solid as a rock.

He should stay D2 . Clarry D1 and Neale D3.

As much as I want to one down one up and bring in Steele, I’m sitting this week as 1 trade to handle heeney/Jackson/chaos is no good and I’m already hodling Stewart to chase a league win.

    T/U – Hall to Dale
    T/D – Hall to Sicily

The logic behind avoiding Dawson last week was to keep enough bank to move on an under performing premo (Cripps, Short etc.) and the upgrade Cameron when Grundy returns

Risk here is Treloar looks like he may have a slight Hamstring injury . No confirmed reports yet , but with his history I would avoid.

Taranto or maybe Duncan ( if you have the trades) are other forward options.

    • I think Whitfield is a great D6 option mate, he has his old role back of just playing everywhere. Butchered it a bit on weekend but was shit weather. 30 + touches I think a very viable option. Would much prefer him over Short and Crisp based on recent form.

I held him through the rough times and injury and he’s finally starting to repay the faith. I would trade Short before Whitfield at this stage.

Always a bit of an injury risk but the roles there and the price is right.

  23. I’m at full premo but missing English and Steele. Darcy Cameron and Heeney are current F6/F7 but ideally Cameron becomes English as soon as Grundy is back. 4 trades left with the team a bit of a mess and Hall is my main issue this week so my question:

TU: one trade of Hall to a cheaper replacement. 3 trades left and some cash to sideswap people to English and Steele (or have those as targets if someone else is injured)
TD: two trades of Wehr and Stephens to Whitfield and a rookie def/mid and hold Hall at D7 and have premo cover on all lines with Whitfield and Heeney at F7 and D7 and rookies with the required dpp in the middle but only two trades left

Is heeney to Taranto worth a look at f6? Provided English plays this week, Luke Jackson is at F7 for loophole too.

Or make a double trade Jackson, Heeney > Libba, Rookie? is tough to leave it to 3 trades for 6 weeks tho..

From what I’ve heard there not too many SC relevant players that will get DPP this time around. Rowan Marshall is close, but may need to play more than 80% forward to make it. If Paddy hadn’t missed that game he would of been much more likely.

    • Wow thats a tough one Stoney.

6 Trades puts you in a pretty good position though.

Dawson has a juicy fixture and looking like D1 so close to a “must have”. I do really like Daicos on field this week V North.

I would consider getting in a late playing DPP loophole instead of Burgoyne.

This way you get Dawson , but can potentially loop your worst performing defender ( Short ? ) with Daicos.

I can see Daicos going 120+ again this week.

      Best of luck

    • I would certainly look at it.

It really is team dependent though. If you feel you have a durable “full Premo” team , going down to 3 trades could be ok. If your holding a few injury risks and mainly playing for leagues. I would tend to hold off for a few weeks.

I presume your using 2 trades to get to Oliver ?

If you can go Cripps to Steele in just the one trade and leave 4 , I would look at that as a safer option.

        • I think you make more points going Blakey to Dawson or Dale and Green to Steele.

Its probably worth holding Jackson if you have cover as he has a very low BE and doesn’t have enough money in him to trade him to anyone decent yet.

I would be holding Cripps, as he has WC this week. I know Oliver is tempting but paying $710K for one player may not be worth it with those weaker links still to deal with.

          Best of luck.

      • It’s a great call FT… depends on the end game!
Lost the plot early and dropped of pace- overall- so now have turned to leagues. Notice some players who burst out of the blocks now have few trades- so able to sneak a few wins lately due to them being a player short.
Trades are like gold this time of the year- and come finals, if you make it- you may come up against teams with big injury counts. One high ranking opponent last week had Rich, Zorko & Hall- so unlucky- but not sure what they can do this week as well.

        • Yeah I hear you K.

Unless you are top 500 with a decent trade count , its probably better to just focus on leagues and save your trades, for the next week or two at least.

This week showed what can happen in any given week. There was a heap of SC relevant injuries with Jackson a late out and Treloar , Houston and Heeney added to the list you mentioned. Thank fully most of these guys look to be getting up this week. Rich Zorko and possibly Hall could only be one week injuries but I would struggle to trust them going forward.

Saying all that most of the guys succumbing to injuries are over 30 with a history of soft tissue issues. Something I make a point of avoiding at all cost.

I think if you have 4 or more trades with a Full Premo side at this stage of the year your in a pretty good spot. Anything less and you may be looking at donuts or at the least rookies on field late in Finals.

“’Hally’ had a quad cork last week coming out of the game. He had no complaints about it early in the week and then early in the game he felt it when he was taking off with acceleration for a give and go,”

“He had a scan on Monday morning that revealed a really low grade strain and the signs are really minimal which is pleasing, it’s his non-kicking leg which is another positive.

“He’ll go back to running tomorrow and build him up through footy function and see where he lies early next week.”

I have D’Ambrosio and Wehr on the bench as cover and even though Dawson could go big again, I predict there will be more injury carnage, rests, suspensions in the next 7 weeks and trades will be GOLD.

Stewart will also be a nice POD during the finals.

  37. Hi everyone, would appreciate a bit of advice please. I need to improve my DEF before any luxuries elsewhere. I have $94K ITB, 7 trades + 3 boosts still available which I know is probably a waste of boosts but its how it panned out. I think I have a pretty good team, playing for a cash league. Currently 5th but equal top with 6 others on same points.

DEF: Sicily, Hewett, Crisp, Short, DeKoning, Parnell (S Durdin, McDonagh)
MID: Oliver, Laird, Neale, Miller, Mills, Merrett, Cripps, N Daicos (M Rioli, Owens, Tsitas)
    RUC: Witts, Blicavs (Preuss)
FOR: English, Bont, Coniglio, Brodie, Dunkley, Parker (Rosas, Butler)

Plan was to have Blicavs moved to DEF when ruck situation settles, so possibly DeKon & Preuss out this week (+ a boost??), but to whom?
    Appreciate any advice.

    • I would probably prioritise getting Parnell off field. Don’t want a guy averaging 45s on field. Could do something like:

Preuss > Teakle (allows English to be able to swing into ruck line if needed and frees up cash)
Parnell > Steele via Daicos DPP to DEF

      $63k ITB after trades

      Versus the Dale trade, you’ll have 110 x 3 = 330 points.

That means you’re down about 105 points, which would be the same as if you had to field one donut over the next 7 weeks. That’s why you’re better off keeping the trade.

    C.Stephens/Cripps (M8) -> Burgoyne/Steele

I’ll be left with 5 trades (1 boost) $62k in the bank to cover injuries

  43. 7 trades with no Rooks on field – but some problem ‘premos’: Ryan, Ridley, Green, Cripps.

The plan this week is to bring Steele in for Green. Here are the options I’m considering:

T/U: use one trade: Green to Steele. Leaves 6 trades and 90k in the kitty

T/D: use three trades: Green, Ridley and Soligo to Steele, Sicily, and Tunstill. Leaves 4 trades and 135k in the bank

    Thanks!

  45. Hi
I have 3 trades left and fighting to get into top 8.
Was thinking of trading out Stewart and swap Blicavs to defence and get Gawn in ruck and swap English to forward. Ill have good backups on each bench for when I run out of trades!!
    TU- Good trade
    TD- Save trades
    Thanks

  46. Today’s KFC SC email preview for the coming round states that Heeney is on the injury list. So…anyone heard anything? Just interested.

    • Heeney had a knock to his quad last week.

John Longmire said the forward “pulled up fine” and “should be fine” to play against the Western Bulldogs.

“He essentially just got a bad knee to the top of his quad, and so that can hurt during the course of the game and particularly if you come out of half time and it’s cooled down a little bit, but he’s looked after it and pulled up well,” Longmire praised.

    • Hey JJ.

You have a heap of trades and not many fat cash cows. I would look at a sideways of Parish to Steele. his Calf keeps playing up and I think Steel should out score him from here. Then I would look at a Playing downgrade for McDonald.Tunstill looks quite good but is Mid only. This should bank you a around $180K to get Ridley tp Dawson or Butters to Bont Use the Boost !
      Best of luck

    • I’ve got a ballsy move.

Parish to Danger and Stewart to Dawson or Dale. Parish still has calf issues and Danger could be a killer POD for very little cash. I much prefer him to May . Check out Rare Gems . I wrote up Danger this week.

Then you could look at Henney up to English next week, as English still has a pretty high BE of 160.

      Best of luck.

        • Yep I love it .

          Dale is a jet !

Danger looked amazing scoring 98 from 62% game time. It was against North. He spent most of his time in the midfield with his usual stints forward. With Rohan back and both Hawk and Cameron fit, I can’t see how they need him forward too much. Its pretty tight at the top so Geelong may not have the luxury of resting him again before finals. Its always a bit of a risk though.

          • The other option is Parish to Steele and Heeney to Duncan.

            I think I prefer English though as he’s probably F2 . Bont F1.

            • Agreed I’m happy with English and danger. The only issue I have with the scenario is dp3… Tonned up with one calf last week. Shirely his good to go now it’s been 4 weeks! Initially a 1-weeker, wasn’t it?

  50. OK, my situation.. 7 trades with no $cash

I am adament that I want to trade Cripps -> Steele this week

But I need to find some cash… I have narrowed it down to 2 trade options:

    TU: C.Stephens -> Burgoyne
This also gives me the added DPP benefit for extra coverage with defence

    TD: Short -> May
Ultimately this is my D6 spot

    Cheers!

  51. Thinking of

    Out Ridley, Solgilo, McComb

In May, Nankervis, cox (D/M loop)

Would leave me with 4 trades for the run home and Butters and Wher as key bench cover players

  52. What to do with Goldstein? Got him back in R8 and has been very handy. But the ruck time tipped back in Xerri’s favour last week, and Goldy dropped a 55.

Time to cash him in? Also have DCam and English as ruck cover (but no actual rucks).

Thinking maybe Sean Darcy or Bailey Dale. 5 trades left.

  53. 4 trades left currently

T/U – Hall to Dawson ($2.5k left in bank)
    T/D – Hall to Dale ($83k left)

After offloading Hall, my biggest issues will be Short, Crippa (maybe) and an eventual Cameron offload. IS it wise keeping bank to have freedom for future trades?

  54. 7 trades left 18k 1 boost

    Could use some help

Def, Dawson, Sinclair, hewett, crisp, short ridley: Wher, Parnell

Mid: Oliver, Neale, Miller, Walsh, Petracca, Zerrett, Cripps, Butters, : Soligo, McComb, owens

    Ruck: Witts, Goldy, loop

Fwds, Bont, Brodie, Cogs, Dunks, Parker, Himmelburg: McDonald, Rioli

    Goldy + Ridley biggest issues

Have enough trades to do a 3 for 1 to get a ruck or Mid but that means I have to keep Ridley.

Goldy is also decent cover as R3/F7 so I’m probably just going to keep him since it seems better to try and add a primo rather then subtract one
