Game Chat – Collingwood v Hawthorn

Written by Thommo on July 3 2015

To be honest, reviewing this game has been difficult since we yesterday heard about Jarryd Roughead’s shock diagnosis of a malignant melanoma of his lip. It reminds us that perhaps there are more important things in life than football, something many Supercoaches don’t ordinarily like to admit.

Good luck big Rough: I hope you get well soon!

That being said, tonight marks the Pies best chance to defeat the Hawks since the 2011 Prelim. They were super-impressive against Fremantle last week and probably would have won if they hadn’t wasted their opportunities. Despite the Hawks’ recent dominance over the Pies, this game is going to be a tight one!

Thommo’s tip: Hawthorn by 6 points.

  2. Anyone have any research / thoughts on Tom Downie? Could go Tom Read to Tom Downie for long term Ruck cover + to get 22nd score due to Jacobs not scoring this week.

Read that he is from basketball background and his 2011 highlights he looked a bit scratchy with his kicking skills which is understandable – however i can imagine that he has come on well in the past 3-4 years.

Worried that when Phillips returns he will be paired with Lobb.

  3. If you weren’t ranked so highly Andy, I would’ve gone so far as to lightheartedy suggest you drop a few to the bench to make it even seeing as how I have five I won’t be able to cover with one trade.

Given your overall chances buddy, go all out to get as many points as you can and dedicate them to Phil for me. You supported me bigtime when I was top 100 last year, now it’s my turn – go get ’em!!

  4. With the Crows v Cats game being cancelled (rightfully so), what happens with the players scores? treated like a bye round?

  8. Agree Mark now Varcoe on report for not leading with the head….I’m now truly confused!

Hawks getting the important ones inside 50 and keep throwing and dropping the ball freely without issue.

  9. I admit I’m a Pies fan but bugger me they deserved the win tonight so many trash goals from the Hawks tonight….very disappointing.

  10. Put the VC on Priddis instead of Pendles (for the first time due to some ankle injury rumour) and he then goes to have an absolute ripper of a game.
    What a game though.

  12. Took VC off Pendles for some unknown bloody reason. On a brighter note, Lewis back to form. And new addition Burgoyne with a ton!
