How Did You Go Rd13

Written by Schwarzwalder on June 16 2019

Looks like anything over 1750 should be very competitive. One of the trickiest Rounds in recent memory …..

How did you end up in Rd13?

  1. 1530 Sloane was about 18k.

Only had 15 players but I did get 2000 last week so might average 1750 over the bye rounds

Capt – Kelly probably get tagged out of the game. So crap
    Rank – 1670ish Probably drop 20000 spots.

    1. Score – 1462 from thirteen players including libba fisher Gardner do not too bad two of those should be gone this week (libba n fisher) pretty happy.
Capt – J. Kelly pretty happy.
Rank – 4450ish better than what I was expecting pretty happy.
Next week with team as is before trades proj 1950 odd points. Anticipating more happiness.
      Keep plugging.

  4. Not gonna be one of those flogs who only posts their score when they do really well then and we don’t hear from then again. So, here it is:

    1527/Kelly/3157 still in lock-out, anticipating a plummet

By Thursday night I’d managed to scrape together 18 players, but the omissions of Burgess and Corbett brought me down to 16- so it was always going to be an uphill battle.

Big ones from Dunkley, Macrae, Boak, Fyfe and C Kelly were not enough to make up for horrific scores from Gardner, Cunnington, Walsh, Houli and Cripps.

Will admit I’m quite sour about having traded ROB last week, but I needed to cash him in to cover for the byes. In the long run trading him will have net me points, but certainly cost me this week.

Really wish I get onboard the Z Williams train at the start of the year instead of Crisp, oh well. Time to bring Grundy in, just need to find a sacrificial lamb.

  8. Hey GD, I’m one of those flogs!

    1900 / Fyfe

Eight scores of 120+ making up for five scores below 60. Didn’t have the guts to take a chance on the C, but can’t complain because this week was pretty tough. Been smashed by injuries in the past month, but hopefully the worst is over(?) and I can start moving back up the rankings a bit.

Shoutout to Macca, who knocked me over in Catta’s Challenge League with an even 2000! Well done mate.

    1. Haha. Nah, Chillo, I’m talking about people who none of us recognize who come and post that they pulled some obscenely high score courtesy of some masterstrokes- that pisses me off. Gotta take the Ws with the Ls.

And it appears you got yourself a big W this week, Chillo. Nicely done

Very happy after slow start to season
Was 14534 but hoping to climb under 10000 after climbing over 3000 places last week with 1995.
Stars Rob, Fyfe, Boak, Billings , Dunkley, Kelly, Macrae Williams – acceptable scores from newbies Gray , Sicily and Bewley.

      1. Thanks Gb,
May take a leaf from your book with more aggressive trading to have 21 on field next week.
No guts , no glory .
Could be conservative to prepare for league finals but more interested in aiming for overall score and help Sct leagues climb to top of rankings
Catta’s challenge 2 was 125 before this round – hoping to get closer to top 100

          1. Stoked to climb up to 5035.
            Don’t lose hope coaches.
If I can climb up 9500 places in one round then a few strategic trades and of course a bit of luck then things can turn around.
Have to admit first week I didn’t regret not having Gawn and having Rob as no 2 but back to reality next week.

  12. 2047 / Fyfe / 21k~

Great score considering I only had 18 players on field including Gardner’s 22.

I had a very poor start to the season with some bad rookie selections, but now making up ground during the byes with 2102 last week and 2047 this week. Should be able to field 19-20 players in R14 as well.

  14. 1842 / Fyfe

Had a ripper two bye rounds to shoot up the rankings from embarrassing to poor. By season’s end I might move up to below average!!

Stars were ROB, Macrae and whilst it hurt watching them tear it up, Cogs and Williams. Fyfe as vc was pretty handy too.

Got 17 on the field next week but with a few trades I should (could) be good.

  15. 1705/Cripps/was 19k
I have had some shocking weeks lately sent me plummeting miles, but these weeks should help me climb back up. 16 on the field this week for that score i’ll take but Cripps as C hurt. Did it for my league match up to take out more individual scores so switched it from Macrae.

Can’t pick a VC/C at all in the past 2 weeks. Took Mcrouch over Zerrett, then Cripps over Macrae. Last week was Neale over Cripps, then thought i go with something unique and threw it on Williams 106. If i switched my Cripps/Williams captains around with the weeks i would be up 160 points. Shows how those calls stack up over a season.

Macpherson doing poorly from when i brought him in. I hope he will turn this around otherwise it is just wasted trades. I’ll give him a few more weeks to get a gauge on how successful he has become.

Thought I only had 17 but appears I had 18 after all – somehow forgot to count Goldy…

Hoping to keep grinding up the rankings (up to 15K perhaps? from 19K) and supporting my leagues.

  18. 1811/ 18 /Sloane

Looks like a score that may not lose places hopefully. Huge bonuses from Billings, Macrae and Williams with great back up from Boak, Laird and Fyfe.

As with last week, putting a rook (Gardner) to fill a spot was another wasted trade. Keeping Libba specifically to cover the byes was a sad touch as was Jezza getting Tarranted!!

Pretty happy this week but next week is looking thin.

Traded ROB a few weeks ago. Would of been nice to have that score have been so envious this whole round. Some ballsy ppl might of had him VC- imagine that!
Studs- laird, Williams, zerret, fyfe, macrae, dunks, boak.
Traded in r.gray and fyfe this week.
Few weakish scores that most of us have anyway.

Should be okay for next week. Got to bring in llyod now. Just got to unfortunately make that trade happen. I’m sick of watching him ton up and everyone has him

High point of the season. In fact, I’ve scored more this week than in 3 of the non-bye rounds. That’s some indication of how my season is going.
Had the bare minimum 18 players so unfortunately had to wear Gardner’s 22, and never seriously considered ROB for VC, so can’t complain there. Otherwise, pretty stoked.

Lost all my cash league matches.
    Cripps/Libba/Milera the most disappointing
    Dunkley/Billings/Macrae/Williams were awesome
Too many average scores killed me though. Bringing Milera in over Laird last week to free up cash and have an extra player has cost me in both bye rounds so far

Two disappointing weeks in the byes. First, my own doing with poor VC/C choices:
    MCrouch and Cripps this week,
    Neale and Jelly last.
My own fault with at least 6 scoring better each week and anything from 90-180 pts lost with better picks
Secondly, Steele and Rocky being late-ish OUTs. That’s been a persistent problem with Rocky Greene MCrouch Whitfield Moore Williams and Whitfield again for weeks it seems.
That’s SC, we all know that, but I does bring me to question planning for byes as early as pre-season and compromising on wanted picks such as Lloyd and Kelly at season’s start simply because of their byes!
Not complaining, more an observation for next year!
Still, looking v strong for next week as I’m sure most others are now. But I did say that last week too 😉

Some great scores posted. Congrats to all and here’s to a massive SCT back half to the season, both in terms of individuals’ overall scores and the awesome SCT Leagues.

Let’s continue to help each other with trade thoughts and everything else from here to season’s end. The byes are nearly over 🙂

  26. 1577/Jelly/404 (down from 84)

As expected – huge fall. 16 players. Missed the news on Steele’s injury so didn’t get the chance to trade him out.
I thought going the VC on Cripps over Macrae was really going to cost me but Jelly picked up a fair bit of that slack.
My inaugural SCT Cup appearance would seem to have come to an end – 117 points down this weekend on top of a deficit from last week.
Will trade like crazy now and go out with a bang.

    Very happy with this.
    Players who went well
    Williams
    Fyfe
    Obrien
    Walters
    Dunkley
    Sloane
    Crouch
Rest were around break even (except B smith) so made up for missing players. Haven’t traded so far over the byes but will this week to get a full side. Got 2154 last week so fingers crossed I might average over 2000 for the byes. Been a pretty average season but this helps a bit.

  28. 1839/17/ N Fyfe/ 4287 (from 7918)

Only 17 playing due to Burgess and Young’s omission but apart from Gardner very happy with my squad for this round. Great debuts from R Gray, D Clarke and C Daniel in conjunction with Hoff scoring his highest score in my side as well as 7 120+’s (N Fyfe, J Kelly, R Laird, R Sloane, Z Merrett, Z Williams and J Macrae). Looking forward to regaining the services of H Andrews, M Hore, J Lloyd, L Neale, C Oliver, B Grundy, I Heeney, T Kelly and P Dangerfield as well as at least 1 premium.

Pre trades will have 19 playing for RD14 which hopefully will be 20+ post trades with only 2 rookies (D Clarke, X Duursma/O Baker) likely to be included in my playing 18.

  30. 2001 / bloody Cripps.

I almost took ROB as vice when Balta was named ruck. Decided Fyfe into Cripps was safer.

ROB went big, then to make matters worse was driving home when Carlton game started and missed Fyfe’s vCard.

  31. 1998/Fyfe VC/ 19 including Gardner

Leapt 10422 spots to now 5700

I guess we need to be aware of the fixture as i had Billings & Marshall playing GC while others might have been Deboer’d. I cashed out ROB the week before to get Kelly.

Will probably have 21 next week but a fair few rookies.

Whilst Goldy has been pretty good I am reluctantly going to pick up Maxy as it is worth 30 plus points a game and gives an additional captaincy choice.

Apologies if he gets injured next week – my bad.

  32. 1731 (from 17) / J. Kelly / 6,206 (was 8171; made up most of the ground I lost last week)

Overall, I’m happy enough with how this week went, although in hindsight I’m wishing I hadn’t traded Mumford out a week early. With his recent form, I was concerned he’d once again score 50 to 60, and haemorrhage even more cash, thus leaving me unable to afford both Gawn and Grundy next week (the numbers for this were already looking very, very tight). Unfortunately, his 117 this week means that I could have afforded to keep him and still get Grawndy, plus an extra 117 points wouldn’t have gone astray. Oh well. Something FD wrote about there being a difference between a bad decision, and a good decision that doesn’t work out, comes to mind.

    Bring on round 14!

Dropped from 730 to 2447 last week, then climbed back to 1433. Bringing in Dunkley and Macrae definitely helped. Bouncing through the byes!
