  1. Sigh, Liberatore and rockcliff guess it’s time to move them on as well as upgrade 5 others, can this be an infinite trade week.

Should I prioritise getting Gawn over Lobb or upgrading my forward line

    10

    1. I have Lobb and unfortunately i think he’s done. Or this week. I accidentally traded Baker and kept Lobb this week. Then they released more info that he was probably done for the year. Sucks but cya Lobb.

      1

      1
  2. Out
    Walsh Stack O’Brien
    In
    Neale Gaff Sweet

O’Brien has done his job and need that trade to complete others

    2

    19
    1. O’Brien’s BE for his next game is -20, I would recommend holding for another couple of weeks if you can

      24

      1
      1. Agree. I have goldy and rob on the pine this week, and Gawn. Looking at rob be, and grundy’s…that trade can wait a week or two..especially as i will have 19 onfield when Clarke comes in.
Question is Walsh for cash, or setterield for clarke.

        4

    2. Look at Archie Smith for R3. With Lobb gone there’s no R/F cover and Smith is at least playing

      2

      1. Sorry Charlie. I should have checked with you personally before contemplating the trade. I wasn’t aware of his break even when I posted. Jog on flog

        6

        10
  3. I’m tempted to trade out Brodie smith and milera for Lloyd and Luke Ryan.
That does leave me with two rookies on field Dursma and Hore. (Upgrade Dursma round 15)

    1. Torn on B.Smith. i think I’m keeping him. He will go up considerably and cash gen is getting hard. Tempting trade though…

      2

      9
  4. Out – Baker, Atkins and Duursma
In – Boak, Neale and Clarke from the Bombers
Full premo with 8 trades left, awaiting the injury carnage.

    21

      1. Smith, Rocky and Heeney.

Rocky will become Bont/Merret/Sloane if he he’s broken. Got the coin and probably can afford a luxury trade.

        12

        1
  5. I wasn’t expecting this from O’Brien so he goes up 43k this week and has a -20 BE. Is it worth holding him through his bye round and then a week or 2 after for another potential 80k or just take what i have gained from him?

TU Hold him for that extra cash
TD Sell him on and improve the team with all that cash

    45

    7
    1. I have Goldy too…about $1mill on the bench this week. O’Brien has thrown up a nice problem. I think Goldy goes for Grundy in a few weeks, and rob will stay as cover until finals.

      1

    2. I think since I am running a Tech team I will hold him as he on the field, so I won’t have to spend as much to try and get in Gawn. Will lose potential points though, but limited trades.

With my main team having 440k on the bench not being used and it is all about points and not cash. By trading him now I make up the numbers for this week and will gain a solid 200 points over the next few weeks. With an extra 80k it comes down to whether it can be made back up over limited weeks.

So it appears I’ll be going both tactics

      0

      0
    3. I sold him. No point having all that cash on the bench now for the final stretch. Used the cash to upgrade M7 and M8 to premiums and my team is one spot from complete.

      1

      0
    4. I would hold him if I could, but sadly I traded him last week as he was my most viable source of cash for other upgrades..
      :^(

  6. Gibbons, Walsh and LBaker OUT
    DClarke, JLloyd and Johannisen IN

Leaves $24K in the bank and 9 trades remaining. Duursma to Sloane the following week, then say a silent prayer to the SC gods and hope for the best

    3

    3
  7. Who would everyone rather for the rest of the year? Either bring in Oliver this week or Sloane next week to finish midfield.
    T/u – Sloane
    T/d – Oliver

    25

    44
  8. Stack > Clarke
    Baker > T.Kelly
    B.Smith > Ryan/Stewart – can’t afford Hurn

Anyone concerned about Ryan’s role with Pearce out and Blakely back in the side

    11

    1
  9. Dependent on how aggressive I want to be with 9 trades left but a lot of potential options this week.

Burgess to Dunkley via a double downgrade of Setterfield (M9) and Duursma (D7) to push J Westhoff to F7

B Smith (D5) and T Goldstein (R2) to J Sicily and M Gawn via a downgrade of Duursma to Logue.

B Smith to L Ryan via a W Setterfield downgrade keeping Duursma a while longer.

    2

    1. Seriously? Sort forwards by total score/average, scroll down til you find someone you can afford.
What are we supposed to do to answer you properly? You haven’t even told us who is currently in your forward line.

      19

      11
  10. ROB to Gawn? Will be the last trade of the year excluding carnage and will leave 160k in the bank.

    16

    3
  11. My original plan before ROB going huge was:

    Stack>Oliver
    ROB>Sweet
    Goldy>Grundy

But, I will replace it with this:

    Stack>Clarke
    Goldy>Grundy

    WEEK AFTER:

    Duursma>Oliver
Hayes>Logue/Naish whoever has the better JS

This will fulfil my bye numbers needs and will allow me to squeeze another 80K out of ROB so I can upgrade my last premo spot fairly easily at F6.

  12. Thoughts on Treloar?
TU can get on a good scoring run, has a high ceiling and is cheap
    TD inconsistent

    15

    19
  13. Two Options:

TU: OUT – Parker, Walsh and Libba …IN – Heeney, Walters and Clarke (28k left)
Leaves no bench cover in FWDS but means 5 of 6 premos can DPP Mids
    Finalises Mids, Rucks and Fwds

TD: OUT – Duursma, Walsh and Libba…IN- Lloyd, Walters and Clarke (16k left)
    Finalises Mids, Rucks

    3

    20
  14. Looking to upgrade Duursma
Already own: Hurn, Williams, Lloyd, Ryan & Smith

    T/U Stewart
    T/D Rich
    Comment: Sicily

    12

    4
      1. Already have Clarke

        Mids at the moment are
Kelly, Cripps, Macrae, Coniglio, Bont, Oliver, Stack, Clarke (Bewley , O. Baker, Rowbottom)

        1

        0
    1. Why? Neale has slowed down so no rush. Clarke the pick this week as he’s on the bubble and he’s done really well. O.Baker is still on the way up, way too premeture. Hind has only played one game and i don’t trust he will necessarily keep his spot two more weeks plus. Stewart is staying at his price also no rush and Duursma is still on the way up… literally wait on all of that.

      Just my thoughts

      6

      1
      1. You’re right in saying that Neale has slowed down, but he’s slowed down to a five round average of 112. He also would have gone absolutely massive against Carlton if Ed Curnow didn’t shut him down after half time. 578k for him is an absolute bargain IMO and worth going early on a few rookies if you’re only an upgrade or two away from full premo.

        18

        0
  15. Here’s my trades this week so far.

Some background: I have $400 in the bank, no good cash cows apart from Duursma and Hore (who I’ll probably have to keep as D6) and 18 on field before trades (based on last week’s teams, could have Hurn and some rookies come back/get dropped)

    OUT: Duursma, Steele, Hayes

    IN: Naish, Clarke, Sloane, 267k

By doing this trade this week, I should hopefully have enough money in the bank next week to go Baker to a bargain mid to finish my team. If not, I might have to go one up one down instead, which isn’t ideal, but then I at least have some cash spare for when injuries happen, or when I want to do a sideways trade in the later rounds.

I’m ok with going for Sloane despite him having the bye because unless there is some carnage with the teams this week I should still have at least 18.

Next week I’m looking at a budget mid with upside like Taranto, Henderson, Zorko etc.

Let me know what you think!

    7

    1
      1. Honestly, not fantastic. I’m missing a few of the big hitters due to some dud starting selections.

My mids as they stand after trades are:

        P. Cripps, L. Neale, J. Macrae, B. Cunnington, C. Oliver, R. Sloane, M. Crouch, Rookie.

        3

        1
  16. Thinking about:
    OUT: Walsh, W.Hayes
    IN: Oliver, D.Clarke

Would also like to finally trade out M. Parker. I could grab Chol at his basement price and take the cash, or I could swing Gardner forward and go early on either Naish or Logue. I’m thinking Logue might have better JS right now, but $164k is a lot of cash to go early on…

    Currently on 16 trades

    8

    0
          1. Could save money and go Henderson or Treloar for a POD? Assuming you already have Sloane, as he’s a steal at 511k.

            1

            0
            1. Yeah got Sloane, was considering Treloar and was very tempted due to his high disposal count. Not interested in hendo as I’m a hawks supporter and his score is very reliant on getting big disposal counts.

Don’t really need to save money but do you think Treloar would be a safer bet than Taranto?

              1

              1
              1. I look like I’m contradicting myself here but Treloar is known as a high disposal player, just needs to clean up his efficiency a bit and his score will climb but hendo isn’t known for this level of scoring so it’s not a very confident choice.

                0

                0
              1. I would take all of those before Taranto. Except for maybe Crouch, but only because of his injury history.

                2

                2
                1. Out of curiosity why do you think Treloar is a better pick than Taranto? I know he hasn’t had his bye but at this point he has the 8th highest points total. I know it’s not about chasing past points but he looks to be fairly consistent or do you think he’ll slow down for the 2nd half of the season?

                  2

                  0
      1. JPK supposed to be back this week but these trades aren’t for this week anyway just wanted to hear opinions for rest of season

        2

        3
  17. 100k short on a double upgrade.

How much longer is Whitfield out for? Considering kicking him to get my team finished sooner.

If I kick him I’ll have 3 more upgrades to make with 9 trades remaining.

    2

    2
  18. O’Brien to Gawn?
Hurts to do after this week and his very low BE but not having Gawn all year has killed me.

    4

    1
  19. This weeks trades are Baker, Brodie Smith and Answerth out for Sicily, Logue and Ablett. Ablett is a complete bias pick, as I’ve dropped back to the mid 4000’s in ranking after the last and am a Geelong fan, so I don’t mind to much how he performs (would be nice if he average ~100 from here out). Are there any better defenders besides Sicily available for below 500k? I already have Stewart.

    1

    1
  20. Why is everyone trading out Walsh. I can understand if you are getting desperate in your league, but Clake looks the only downgrade this week. Walsh price wont be dropping this week, and with trades getting low, surely holding another week wont hurt…..injuries would make Walsh very precious after the byes…he did have 140 in r12 too lets not forget.

    2

    3
    1. Its the perfect time really. Unless you’re really struggling with trades and want to keep him as an M8, get him out. Walsh is a bit up and down recently, and has his bye now too. He was never going to be a keeper, just a great scorer until the bye rounds.
Sure, he had a 141 in Rd12, but he also had a 67 in Rd11 and a 50 last night.

      20

      0
  21. Duursma to Stewart, and Gibbons to Clarke (ESS).
Leaves just one upgrade in the midfield til full premo (and Hore at D6, but he’ll probably become Whitfield later on).

However, the problem now is how to bring in that last mid premium. It’ll most likely be Sloane, but my most expensive rookie (aside from Hore) is Setterfield.
$155k in the bank at the moment. Aside from Setters and Answerth, all other rookies are worth <200k, so it's looking to be a struggle to get any cash to make that last upgrade.

    1

    1
  22. is T.Stewart a top 6 DEF?

    if I already have,
    – Hurn
    – Lloyd
    – Houli
    – Williams
    – B.Smith
(if need be il bring in Whitfield for Smith later in the year)

is it worth bringing Stewart in for Duursma?

    TU – Yes, do it.
TD – No, there’s better options (please comment?

    20

    5
  23. #1) Baker -> whichever rookie has the best JS (probably Clarke via Setters DPP)
    #2) Walsh -> Neale
    #3) Duursma -> Sloane

Fielding over 18 this week (hopefully), so I can afford to trade out a R12/13 bye player for a R14 player. Duursma likely looses cash against a Cats midfield which restricts points. Sloane’s price has bottomed out and I really like his run home.

Making those moves would finish all my lines with the exception of Setterfield at F6- and Hore, but I’m honestly happy with him at D6.

    Sound good?

        1. Hey GD – sorry I’ve been looking over everything …
hm mm I’m a bit lost for what trades to make now … trades getting low … would like Hurn and maybe Whitfield … not sure on cash gen … have to play it smart with who our and duals … trying to ensure coverage across lines … which means I have to hold some rookies … hmmm … need 1 mid, 2 def … not sure on who is the best mid to get now … have
Fyfe, Neale, Kelly, Cripps, Macrae, Zerrett, Oliver …

          1

          0
          1. Yeah, I feel ya.

Cash generation looking really stiff for me too. Will need to upgrade Setters eventually and likely Hore -> Whitfield but I don’t see where that cash is gonna come from.

Will make for interesting editions of Cow Talk and Thursday teamsheets, we’ll see.

            1

            0
            1. I’m leaning towards holding setters now to the end – his DPP is invaluable and I still have ROB.
ROB will be my last trade – direct to any M/F – or dual and if necessary Setters will aid in that trade …
Hore may well end up being my D6. I still have BSmith and Duusma … and I must say, Smith has been looking very very ordinary lately … even playing mids and still scoring has fallen off a cliff … there seems to be no room for him and Rory and Milera … problem is, he will start bleeding cash next week …

Sloane is a maybe – not sure how good he is against a tag … but he can go high … whatever call I make will no doubt bite me!!

              1

              0
              1. Think Smith’s time has come. As for Sloane and tags, check the Crows run home. Don’t see him being tagged by any of their opponents- maybe by Hutchings R21, only lightly tagged last time they played though.

                1

                0
  24. because iv still got 3 on field rookies in the mid I think it’s time to focus on my Midfield.

    I’m thinking….

    Gibbons > D.Clarke
    Stack > Gaff
    Walsh > Fyfe

leaves me with only 1 rookie in each line on field
    12 trades left
    and $153,6oo in the bank.

    Thoughts?

  25. Need to finish my midfield
Neale is best value , however interested in thoughts of community who will score higher for reminder of season Parker represents POD

    T/u Neale
    T/D Parker

    16

    2
      1. Parker was killing it even with JPK in the team, I don’t think there’s too much to worry about there.

        2

        4
  26. Need to say good bye to Smith or Milera
Only brought in Milera 2 weeks ago and feel as POD I want to retain however will he outscore B Smith
    Good bye
    T/u Milera
    T/u Smith

    5

    13
  27. This is for next week:
    M Crouch $484k? Or
    Sloane $511k?
Theyre both bargain prices but can only fit one of them. Who would u pick and why?

    4

    13
    1. Sloane will get tagged out of games, but has a higher ceiling.

Crouch has to get 35 possessions to even hit 100, but he’s consistent. However, he also has the injury history.

      6

      0
  28. TU: use 1 trade to upgrade Stocker to Bont, Merrett or Treloar
TD: use 2 trades, upgrade Stocker to Neale, downgrade Hayes to Clarke

    5

    14
  29. TU – Sloane & Hurn. (Pick up Sloane next week)
    20 on field this week
TD – Gaff and Sicily. 21 on field this week.

    15

    1
  30. t/u: fyfe (prone to injury or suspension)
t/d: dunkley (has dpp but role could change before seasons end?)

    13

    4
  31. 10 Trades remaining after these trades with 2 rookies to go.

    Goldy > Gawn
    Walsh > Clark
    Answerth > Ryan

Wanted Hurn but 60k short. Thinking I’ll go either Whitfiled or Hurn for B.Smith at a later stage.

    8

    0
      1. I could trade out B.Smith for Hurn instead and wait for the answerth upgrade.

        T/U Answerth > Ryan
T/D B.Smith > Hurn, will leave answerth on field until I can generate cash.

        0

        6
  32. Hayes out for D. Clarke
    and
    Goldy out for Gawn. Finally.

Makes for 21 playing next week, assuming Rocky returns & Gardner doesn’t get dropped.

    5

    0
    1. Yeo. Merrett will have 2 – 3 tag affected scores, while there are no forseeable tags for Yeo.

Merrett definitely cops the De Boer and Hewett tags in R15 & R16. Eagles haven’t been using Hutchings to apply a heavy tag as he’s filled Masten’s role on the wing/outside the ball, but if we [Eagles] do play Hutch as a tagger next week he’ll go straight to Merrett.

      3

      0
  33. Best backline downgrade option? Obviously, it’s better if he’s playing this week, but I’m likely to be fielding anywhere from 19 to 21, so it’s not the end of the world if he’s not – job security and scoring potential are far more important.

Unfortunately, for financial reasons it can’t be someone like Logue – it has to be a standard-priced rookie or cheaper.

    0

    0
        1. Poor. Edwards replaces him this week. Earns the mantle of “best DEF downgrade option” bc is literally the only option lol.

          1

          0
  34. Survived R13 with 16 players on field, time for some more upgrades.

BSmith, Baker, Stocker > Sicily, Neale, Clarke

Leaves me with 12 trades left and 1 upgrade left on each line. Currently have Duursma D5 and Hore D6, waiting on Whitfield to come back. (Whitfield, Sloane and Daniel are the final targets at the moment).

    TU Good trades
    TD Hold BSmith as D7

    6

    1
  35. Playing for overall. Simple one, Dunkley @597k???

    TU- Yes, get him ASAP!!

    TD- No, too expensive..

    13

    14
    1. Hey, Mal.

I can see why you’re at a bit of an impasse here. 597k is just extreme for a FWD, especially with cash generation running pretty thin for most teams. That said, it could be justified:

      – is he your last, or one of your last, upgrades?
      – do you already have the main big price tag premos in your side?
      – do you have at least 3 rookies with good JS and cash generation left?

Team specific really. If you meet all those criteria, I think a case could be made to bring him in even at such a high price.

      3

      0
  36. Final forward to bring in?

TU: Boak $527k BE of 62 (but will mean having Boak, Gray and Lycett – a lot of Port FWDs)
TD: Marshall $490k BE of 31

Already traded Goldy and Baker for Clarke and Gawn. Then plan to trade Setterfield and Duursma to Logue and a premo mid next week to be full premo with my remaining 11 trades.

Full team prior to final trade is as follows (with $171,400 ITB and 12 trades):

Def: Hurn, Lloyd, Williams, Sicily, Andrews, Hore (Duursma, Naish)

Mids: Fyfe, Cripps, Neale, Macrae, Oliver, B.Crouch, Gray, Libba* (Bewley, Clarke, Rowbottom)

    Rucks: Gawn, Grundy (Bines)

Fwd: Kelly, Dangerfield, Billings, Heeney, Lycett, Setterfield (Begley, Young)

Personally I prefer Boak and Port’s draw, but concerned I’m too heavily populated from one team.

    1

    3
  37. In for me this week:

    Gawn, Logue & Neale

    Out for me this week:

    Goldy, Walsh & Smith

Leaves me $116K in the bank looking at Hurn & Whitfield in coming weeks to complete my backline. Hore & Duursma will have to hold till then.

    9 trades reamining

  38. Been up all night thinking about the pleasant Goldy/Rob/Grundy dilemma…need to get Grundy but can wait a week or two because of warm bodies this week, and relative be’s. Looks like solid league wins this week coming.
    So….
    Goldy to Fort
    Walsh to Neale.
Leaves $293k in bank, Rob goes to Grundy in a couple of weeks and I will likely have an extra $100k for final two upgrades after that trade.
    T/u yes
    T/d no

    4

    2
  39. Team before trades:
Def: Lloyd, Sicily, Williams, Laird, Hore, Duursma (Naish, L Young)
Mid: Cripps, Fyfe, Neale, Macrae, Oliver, Sloane, M Crouch, Walsh (OBaker, Bewely, Scott)
    Ruck: Gawn, Grundy (Bines)
Fwd: T Kelly, Dangerfield, Dunkley, C Daniel, Heeney, L Baker (Gardner, R Young)

    Trades:
    L Baker > Boak
    Walsh > Bontempelli

This would complete my mids and forwards with $9k and 11 trades left. (I’ll try to upgrade M Crouch to JKelly at some point though)

My thinking is to wait for Hurn and Whitfield to come back and drop in price before upgrading Hore and Duursma to complete my defence. I’ll need about $300k in the bank for this.

Is it worth trading Bailey Scott to Dylan Clarke which only gives me about $30k now but helps with future cash generation?

    TU: Yes
    TD: No

    6

    2
  40. 130k in the bank.

In: Tom Stewart Dylan Clarke Josh Dunkley
Out: Sam Walsh Tom Liberatore Will Setterfield

Defenders will then be J. Lloyd R. Laird Z. Williams T. Stewart M. Hore B. Smith
    Bench N. Answerth R. Gardner

Then look to bring in Hurn for Hore after he falls and likely hold Smith as D6

    5

    0
    1. ALTERNATIVE?

IN: Tom Stewart Dylan Clarke Josh Dunkley
OUT: Brodie Smith Sam Walsh Tom Liberatore

Leaves 140k in the bank to get J. Kelly next week by going Duursma + Setters down to Naish (via Burgess dpp)

    1. Don’t know how many trades you have or how much cash, but here’s my line of thought.

Remaining rookie upgrades: Duursma, Stack, Baker (Rich), Hore (?)
Cash cows: Baker (Mel), Answerth, Bewley, Corbett
      Cash from cows (based on likely earnings): $130k + $130k + $130k + $90k

Duursma is at $380k and probably at the top-ish of his range.
Stack is at $395k with a little more to make (bye this week).
Baker is at $360k and will start to lose money (bye this week).
Hore is at $420k and will make more money, and is a possible D6 keeper.

Assuming you want to upgrade them all though.

$130k at each of Duursma and Stack gets you mids in the $500-$550k range.
= Bont, Crouch, other Crouch, Dusty, Treloar, Oliver?

$130k at Baker gets you a forward in the sub-$500k range.
      = Marshall, Billings, Dahlhaus, Parish?

$90k at Hore gets you a defender around the $550k mark.
= Hurn, Whitfield when they come down a bit and return from injury.

8 trades to fully upgrade the team. Doesn’t have to be cash cows down for the upgrade players to go up, you can mix and match.

      This week:
      Corbett -> Gardner (+$108k)
      Duursma -> Hind (+$260k)
      Baker -> Marshall (-$130k)
Carry-over an extra $240k or so.

Next few weeks (as rookies top out in price):
      Baker -> Rookie (+$130k)
      Answerth -> Rookie (+$130k)
      Stack -> Premo (-$130k)
      Bewley -> Premo (-$280k)
      Hore -> Premo (-$90k)

Taking one of the cheaper forwards this week would leave you with a little more cash to spend on the mids.

      1. got 182 K bank and 12 trades left and I stuffed up and put down Corbett but already traded to Gardner

  42. Mids – done
    Rucks – done
    Forwards – done

    Backline though…

Lloyd, Laird, Williams, Smith, Moore, Hore

    11 trades left.

TU: Three downgrades to fund Answerth -> Hurn in a couple of week. Moore moves to D7/F7 swing with Gardner for cover.
TD: Two downgrades to fund two upgrades: Moore -> Hurn and Hore/Smith -> Ryan/Sicily/Whitfield. Relying on rookies and 7 trades for cover.

Trying to decide if the stronger bench is a better option than the difference between one of Hore or Smith and a proper premo backman.

    1. Two considerations:

      Need the cash this week?
Need an extra player this week?

Logue only played one game, Naish has the bye this week. If you can afford to wait, there’s no downside in doing so.

      1. Need the cash to upgrade to oliver this week, want to do it this week as oliver has bottomed out in price..
Can afford to downgrade to both Logue and Naish, I believe Logue has the better JS but maybe Naish has better scoring potential..

        0
        1. I like Logue of the two for JS and scoring potential, but the extra $40k could go a long way with another upgrade.

Who’s your other bench defender likely to be? If they’re already a solid choice I’d be inclined to go for Naish for the extra funds, but if you’re stuck with someone like Rotham who is struggling to get a game, or Gardner who could be struggling to average more than 30, then Logue is probably the right choice.

      1. Bont with a BE of 133 and playing Collingwood, good chance he comes down a little bit. Though he knocked out 127 last time despite Grundy absolutely demolishing English at the stoppages.

Answerth has the Saints, so should be able to find his way to 50 points.

  46. I’ve just got back from remote far N/W S.A. doing some surveying, saw zero footy since the Thursday game, now trying to find info about Steele’s knee injury, any update anyone heard? I had a quick look thru threads here and Saints homepage but nothing new I could find, maybe not even had scans yet I dunno, I will need to make any trades earlyish before I’m off the beaten track again leaving Thursday morning….anything you know allsaints?

    1

    1. Sorry no. But I think it’s sadly time to trade him. The severity of the scans will make it 4wks min. Given his dislocated it. More likely to be 6 to be honest. I traded him last week.

A shame, despite not being great in the first half of the season, think he would have stormed home like last year given his fitness levels.
