  1. Here we go. Shocker of a year with injuries and it continues..

1 trade left, pendles out. Who comes in?

Have pendles + 45k to spend.
    Suggestions?

  2. 4 trades left.
I can get Dunkley to complete my FWDs but it would mean playing Bramble/J Sharp at M8
Alternatively I can bring in Ro Marshall & a McCluggage/Taranto type at M8

    TU Dunkley & rookie loop
    TD 2 Ro Mo & McCluggae/Taranto

      1. I’m thinking the same as Pendles (my m8) injury has thrown my plans out. The golden rule for SC finals is dont rely on rookies but there are some real yo yos in the lite premium category this year and Taranto is one of them. (Full post below)

        1. If you really want to save coin, you could go JPK or T. Kelly? Both terrific over the weekend.

  3. Hey guys/girls,

3 trades left, 230k, final mid.

    T/U – Bramble to Lyons.

    T/D – Bramble/Newk to Bont/Durham.

    Thank you.

  4. 2 trades left.

Only upgrade that needs doing is my m8. Currently looping between Sharp and Bramble. Surely though, I keep my 2 trades for emergency and just ride with these serviceable m8 scores.

    T/U Hold trades
T/D Use the 2 and upgrade to a premo. Cheers

    1. Yeah, LG, they’ll do 80+ between them each week. Hold the trades.

Also, huge score this round. Saw your topscore in Gun’s Regulars #2, great work!

      1. Cheers GD!

That would be great, certainly up until this point they’ve proved themselves. Also, the teams coming along great. Spewing a bit about bringing in Bolton for Dusty but I think against Geelong, the Richmond mids had no chance. Should bounce back in the remaining games.

  5. Got 2 trades left and 2 rookies left on field in Bramble and Sharp.

I have plenty of cash in the bank so thinking of going Highmore to Steele (via DPP) and looping Bramble and Sharp each week to get the best score at M8.

Leaving me with 1 trade and 11,800 in the bank for emergency trade during finals.

    Good idea?

  6. Have unlimited cash to bring in my last upgrade at m8

Currently have macrae Oliver Walsh Taranto petracca steele Merrett.

Who do I bring at to finish my team. Thinking bont or touk but not sure

    1. Definately avoid going sideways with your last trade, even if you feel its a slight improvement on points.
I had 5 trades last week and sideways traded Jelly to Guthrie (after much torment – knowing it was breaking a well understood rule about unnecessary sideways trading). My justification was that Jelly was carrying an injury and was playing the last game of the round – I saw him as a significant risk of late out or earlier game injury. Jelly also had a high BE and stood to lose big $. Guthrie however, my trade-in, had a very low price & BE & appeared to be fully recovered from that shoulder injury. Added to this, my cash ITB was insufficient to allow a later single-trade upgrade for my last full-premo upgrade meaning that it would necessitate two trades to achieve it, whereas the Jelly to Guthrie trade gave me an extra $80k ITB. So overall it still involved two trades but I end up with Guthrie rather than Jelly – which I feel more confident about going through the league finals.

  7. Final upgrade, Bramble out leaves $600,000 to spend on M8, ranked ~1,200, who to buy?

TU: Zorko (DPP swings with Danger/Bolton, but hasn’t been scoring well lately)
TD: Wines (no DPP but better form line)
    Comment: Lyons, Guthrie, etc.

    3

    19
    1. If you’re lacking the DPP swing then definately Zorko, though I’m sure you’d have a DPP bench swingmen. Even so, Zorko is a sound option.
If you want cash remaining for any forced replacement trade Guthrie seems great value and more than capable of matching Lyons, Wines & Zorko.

  8. Best option of the # listed below?

RoMo this week, Fiorini this week or Menegola or Gaff etc T/U

T/D field bramble for one more week then Boak, Adams, May or a similar candidate at around 495k next week T/D

All suggestions welcome. 4 weeks of form is all I need. Will be happy with a 100 average.

  9. Still have Fyfe Duncan and Dusty..I have cover in Bianco in mids and Madden fwd..
Is it a bigger priority to go..
Tu Fyfe Duncan to Bont and Guthrie
Td trade one mid and also Dusty to Marshall or Hawkins.

  10. 2 trades left!

Hard to know if Heeney will get injured again, but based on the weekend’s action, he’s looking good!

Need to fill my final FWD spot. Depending on who I trade out (Weightman or CCJ), I’ll have between $430k to $448k to use (not enough for a higher value premo).

    Bring in Heeney this week?

    TU: Yes!!
    TD: No/Wait

  13. 2 trades left with two rookies

Weightman and Bramble left on the field.

TU:Hold the trades for injury as these rookies are still holding their spots.

  14. 2 trades left, weak points Cripps, Cerra and Daniher. (plus Greene and Mills quarantine)
Must win knockout final this week.

TU: Cripps to anyone and roll with Daniher and Cerra. Save emergency trade if I get thru.

TD: Just say f*ck it and use 2 with Cripps to TKelly and Treacy to any fwd under 508k. Loop Daniher score.

  15. Going for league win, finished top 4 – have a 150+ advantage on projected scores on my opponent

Three trades left, team almost complete, will be trading Sharp -> Dunkley, tossing up whether to pull the trigger early this week, or wait another so that I can pocket $50k+, leaving more for upgrades in case of injury/final round upgrades

    TU: Trade now
    TU: Trade next week

  16. T/U C. Dixon

    T/D R. Marshall
    (My Dusty Replacement)

No injury risk with Dixon, Port have a better fixture than the saints. Thoughts?

  17. Hi gunboat. What would you do.
T/u use last 2 trades and do last upgrade from Bianco to Stewart.
    T/d hold trades for injury.
Finished top 4 in every league so not do or die this week. I do however have rookie cover on every line.

    7

    7
    1. Ooof. That is tough.

Usually I’d say don’t leave yourself without trades for 4 rounds but if you can Bianco -> Stewart AND still have DEF cover as well as cover on every line, then go for it.

Otherwise, hold off and maybe pull the trigger with 2 rounds to go.

      Good luck.

  18. The golden rule for SC finals is dont rely on rookies but there are some real yo yos in the lite premium category this year and Taranto is one of them.

    Team

Laird Daniel Stewart Lloyd Lever Saad (Highmore Connoly)
MaCrae Danger Oliver Merret J Kelly Pendles Taranto Bramble (Bianco F MaCrae Newchurch)
    Gawn Grundy (Reeves)
Ziebell DeGoey Heeney Marschall Bolton Sidey (Waterman Henry)

6 trades left and 243 k ITB, was timing full premium until SC league finals in case of injuries but of course Pendles, Martin etc. Bramble has a low BE and more money to make and great backup as M9. Guthrie was my trade target last week but of course Pendles injury changed that as I then needed 4 premos to be full premo.

    Thumbs Up
Taranto and Pendles out for Bont and Guthrie (My league opponent in 2 v 3 match C Bont last week Guthrie low BE. This would mean hopefully looping MaCrae and Bramble with Newchurch on the field depending on the fixture then get another mid premo later)
    Thumbs Down
Pendles and Bramble out for T Kelly and Bont

Comment: Have I missed another obvious option

    Any help greatly appreciated!

  19. last rookie upgrade, need a forward- if i trade out bramble, i can get hall. if i trade bianco i can only afford marshall. hesitant to trade out bramble as has more $ to make, is better cover and will still have 4 trades left so could upgrade taranto later with his cash. playing league at this point…..

T/U bergman> hall, bramble> durham (mid cover durham, bianco, newcombe) 25k itb
    T/D bergman> martshall, bianco>durham (mid cover bramble, durham , newcombe) 7k itb

    1. I wouldn’t want to rely on Durham to be playing when Langford and Caldwell return in the next few weeks

      5

      1
    2. My thoughts are if you have sharp you do not need bramble as cover. I always go the higher scoring option and avoid injury prone players. Even if it takes a few extra weeks to get to full premo.

  20. Last FWD? Currently have 5 trades, FWD and MID upgrade needed. Dusty on the bench, 90k itb

    TU Zorko
TD Dunkley (extra 100k and 1 trade)

    Comment:
    TU: Thomas (save 100k)
    TD: Marshall (also save 100k)

TD: Use one trade to upgrade to a $350k FWD option and save one trade for injury

    1. Definetely hold on to an injury trade and grab Rioli at 293k. Playing off HB, looks good.

McKay, Darling and Naughton other options if you’re not sold on Rioli.

  22. 2 trades left and $109k in the bank. Cripps at M8 (killing me) and Bramble on bench outscoring him for last 4 weeks. Madden / Weightman F6 bleeding points. Thinking of trading Cripple to Guthrie and Highmore (via Madden DPP) trade to ?? with $357k to spend on F6. Any suggestions or alternate strategy welcomed.

    TU: Go with Cripple/Guthrie/Highmore/??trade

    TD: Better way to trade

  23. One trade left $170k in the bank, injury trades only for me for the finals. Sharp from Gold Coast has to be nearly in the premo list. Got Sharp and Bramble loophole at the moment. SC needs more DPP to make all our lives just a little bit easier especially around the $400k mark

  26. I have the ability over the next two rounds with 5 trades left to use 3 trades..Saving two for injuries. (Playing league) double chance
TU: Trade out Taranto, a forward rookie and Cummings (3 trades) for Guthrie, Hall and Stewart
    or
TD : Trade Taranto..he’s gone! a forward rookie and a pretend premo forward and get Macrae and Hall . Leaves me with two pretend forward premos (Daniher, Bottom, Bolton) and cummings at D6.
    Any suggestions welcome.

    1. For what it’s worth. 5 round averages difference between Cummings and Stewart is only 12 points. Difference between Guthrie and McRae is 30 plus. I do understand that Guthrie was injured and improving however I always go the highest scoring players especially with some trades left. McRae just keeps racking up the points and is must have for finals.

I’ve got 3 trades left and 160k in the bank.

  35. 4 trades left..90k inb.. finished top in league

Opo this week has Guthrie..doesn’t have Stewart

Two upgrades left: one defender, one mid

    Thinking either:

Tu: Bramble(Have Sharp M8)>Durham or West -Madden>Stewart .. Upgrade Sharp to Guthrie or similar next game or

    Td: Madden>Durham(Field Bianco or Durham)-Bramble>Guthrie

    1. If you wait a week and trade bramble then wait one more you may have enough cash to do 2 upgrades for one downgrade or close to withincrease in their values. Probably depend if you win this week and no elimation game next week.

  36. 4 trades, $13,400K in the bank, in an elimination final in my main league.

F5 & 6 currently Dusty & Weightman with CCJ & Waterman on the bench
TU: Dusty & CCJ -> Dunkley & Durham (lose loop with R3 but can loop Weightman & Brockman)
TD: Dusty & CCJ -> Marshall & Parker (keeps R3 loop, also loop Weightman with Parker and leaves more cash if I win for my last 2 trades)
    Comment: Anybody other options?

  37. Struggling to choose one out of these two. McCluggage was in some great form at the start of the year and he’s been good the last 3 weeks. Kelly has been up and down all year but he does attend more centre bounces and seems to be the Eagles best mid at the moment. Who to go with?

    T/up – McCluggage

    T/down – Tim Kelly

  38. Struggling to choose between these two options

Have only two trades left and in QF final, lost to my opp in R17

TU use 1 trade – trading Taranto to Hawkins/ dale/ Thomas via dpp. This would complete my fwd line, also can use Bramble as M8 but gives me little or no mid bench cover, and still might need to upgrade Bramble to mid priced mid. 1 trade left for injuries.

TD use two trades -trading Treacy and CCJ to Heeney/ T Greene and 102k ruck, gives me no ruck cover and lose Bramble, but completes team, no trades left for injuries
Miss out on Thomas, Hawkins, dale

    4

    1
    1. If I was using my last trade I would want to be bringing in a BIG gun, and I would I would want to ensure I have ruck cover.
Is trading out CCJ & Taranto for a Dunkley/Danger type & M Parker affordable? Both have DPP. Leaving Treacy at R3 and using Parker – Bramble to loophole?

      3

      1. Can do Touk Miller and 102k ruck for CCJ and Taranto

Still have ruck and mid loophole cover with treacy and bramble

  39. I am in elimination final in cash league.
    2 trades left & $214k
Bench cover is one playing rookie on each line.
    Currently have Cripps at M7 & Bramble/Sharp at M8
I can turn Cripps into Bont/Parish/Zerrett/Dunkley etc and loophole Bramble/Sharp
    Or
I can turn Bramble into Lyons/Guthrie/McCluggage/Libba and loophole Cripps/Sharp

    1. Hold until 6.30 pm Sat night just before Ess v Syd.
If you are looking good for a win without trading then you may choose to hold trades until two weeks time since you get a week off. You then have 3 trades to navigate two finals and decision to go big will be easy.
On the other hand if you are in a close one at 6.30 Sat night, then you may want to bring in the big guns Mills or Ridley anyway. All going well you will have following week off and save remaining trade.

  42. Taranto is giving me a headache at M8.

TD – Save my 2 trades.

  43. Any chance Dusty might ‘don’t argue’ the doctor and end up playing rest of season averaging 120+? Forward line looking mighty slim. Fingers crossed Langford passes fitness test and plays this weekend. Good luck to all in league finals.

  44. TU: Dusty+Bianco > Dunkley + C West
Leaves 45k for next week Sharp+Bramble > last premo (MID) such as Bont/Touk
    Leaves 1 trade

    TD: Dusty+Bianco>Marshall + C West
Same plan next week but have $200k, guarantees upgrade. Or just dont trade Bianco, giving me an extra emergency trade. Honestly might use it for Bolton :/

  45. Last trade..

    I need a Midfielder .

    I’m $400 short of Guthrie 🙁

I looked at Keayes , ( thanks Gunboat ) but he has a pretty tough run home. Dogs / Port / Melb.

I’ve nailed it down to these two..

    McCluggage. 3 round ave 106.. Season 102.

Brisbane have a very soft run home. Hawks / Freo / Pies / TBC.
I like the way he goes about it, and at his age has got to be the more durable of the two. Brisbane can’t afford to slip up and I see a few soft kills ahead.

    Boak. 3 round ave 96… Season 105

Average run home GWS / Crows ( showdown ) / Carlton.
Champion of the game but maybe playing a bit sore ?
He likes a showdown medal if I remember correctly.

So who would you choose ?

    T/U The Scottish Suitcase .

    T/D Boak.

    Thanks folks..

.. and good luck with your finals match ups this weekend.

    1. Afternoon, FT.

      Yeah, fair pass on Keays.

I’ve got Boak. As much as I admire him as a player, I’d pass. Long stints on the bench, always gets attention at stoppages, just doesn’t have the ceiling.

Not a fan of McCluggage either. Had that great two month period where he covered Neale, but he’s back to playing on a wing. Only 5 CBAs last week, behind Robertson and Bailey, so you’d be relying on the Lions generating outside ball.

Bigger issue is his DE, such a butcher – it will frustrate the f*ck out of you. CT’s had him early and has said much the same.

I’d honestly be giving Zak Jones, JPK or T. Kelly a look (in that order). Jones found his sea legs and eased in a fortnight ago, but was back to the 2nd highest CBA load last week (21; 140 SC).

JPK and T. Kelly have their own issues (durability, ceiling, etc.) but should close out the H&A season strong as Swans and Eagles try to push as deep as possible into the 8.

Good luck whoever you roll with. Stick to your guns.

  46. I have Cripps as M8 and am fed up with his pathetic scores

TU Cripps and Bramble >> Bont/Miller and Durham
TD Cripps and Brockman >> Guthrie and Parker (and have Bramble as cover for injuries or loop)

only have 2 trades left so would be final trades for the year
remaining bench cover is (bianco, newcombe, finlay macrae, reeves)

open to other suggestions as well or do I just hold and loop cripps with bramble

    2

    1. Option #1) Miller (120), Wines/Lyons (115) & Highmore (80) = 315

      Option #2) Guthrie (110), Trapanto (95), Mills (115) = 320

Pretty close in points on paper, but floors and ceilings important to consider.

I’d go for Option #1 given the ceiling of Miller compared to the floor of Taranto; Miller spits out 140s like its nothing (2 of last 4 140 ), while Taranto’s highest score in the last month has been a 105. Not only does he regularly sub-ton, but Taranto’s CBAs have been tracking downwards (2 last week) and he is an absolute butcher.

That balances out Highmore D6 imo. Only case for Option #2 would be not wanting to risk a Highmore hand re-injury or the Saints doing something stupid like playing him or tall or (somehow) dropping him.

Mills, Guthrie, Wines/Lyons all great picks, but think it comes down to Miller v Taranto on that ceiling/floor point. A week where Miller has a 147 and Taranto serves up an 81 – that’s gg.

  47. Struggling to decide who to bring in for Pendles with only $495k to work with. Was juggling between Mcluggage and Tim Kelly and my gut says to go with Kelly. However, I just realised I can move someone like Danger into the midfield and then get another forward like Marshall instead. What to do?

    T/up – Go with Kelly

    T/down – Bring in Marshall

      1. He’s been good the last 6 weeks but he just doesn’t have a very high ceiling. I feel like there are other players on the Cats that take points off him in Dangerfield, Menegola, Guthrie, Higgins, Parfitt and Selwood. He has been consistent for the last 6 weeks but I just don’t think his ceiling is high enough.

        Appreciate your input!

  48. I would not get rid of Bramble. He could ave. better than the replacement.
Cripps to a a similar price might be a gamble worth taking leaving 1 trade.
Like Fiorini or TKelly or others if you have some money in the bank.

  49. how much will hall outscore marshall by- or will he? the 90k discount is tempting as still have a few trades left and taranto in the mids…. last fwrd option-
    T/U marshall
    T/D hall

  50. First time post, long time admirer.

    82,500 cash in bank already.

I have been thinking about with my last two trades:

    Bianco > Durham
    Brockman > Sidebottom or Fiorini

By trading Bianco to Durham the max cash I have is $422,100. Is there anyone else who I could get or perhaps wait a week? playing a knockout final this week.

    1. Hey, Tony.

I think SideB is a really solid pick with Pendles out, went right back to an on ball role and should see the year out there. Good for 100 avg.

      1. Hope your right GD as he’s my likely Weightman replacement. But I’m also considering Wingard. Last minute decision pending.

  51. Do you think Taranto can come back and be relevant

TU yes he will come back strong
TD no trade him to a more valuable fwd and play Bramble on field

    1. So tough to split, Alex.

Here’s their last four match ups each, if that helps you decide:

      Miller: Dees, Blues, Dons, Swans

      Bont: Crows, Dons, Hawks, Port

      1

      0
    2. Very tough call but I’d just lean towards Bont because of the extra CD love he seems to get (speaking as an owner of Bont)

      1. Oh, yeah. Good point, Joe.

I own both Miller and Bont and the CD treatment is night and day: they just love Bont, whereas Miller must have picked on them in Year 8 P.E.

        1. Bont’s average when Dunkley plays this season is 112. 3 of the 7 games are sub 100. Dunkley should play the last 4 games, maybe something to note.

  53. Just a bit of advice have Taranto in the mid is it silly to trade to Bont it is sideways im in a knock out final with two trade rookies on ground Madden and Bianco cheers for the advice .

  54. Anyone want to guess on Dunkleys output for the next 4 weeks? Is he worth getting in for his price? Cheers. I’m really struggling with my last mid spot. (Replacement of Pendels)

  56. Hey everyone!

I ended up holding Dusty last week to see how Bolton would go. 2 trades left, 42k in the bank.

Rioli is mighty tempting as it would give me 194k in the bank to use my final trade on upgrading Cripps or Taranto (should I need to).

TU: Stick with either Bolton or Marshall
TD: Get Rioli in with that half back role

    Thanks!

  57. Final midfield spot:

    TU: Jarryd Lyons
    (117 avg / 95 3-round avg)
Next 4: HAW, FRE, COL, WCE

    TD: Luke Parker
    (106 avg / 127 3-round avg)
Next 4: ESS, STK, NTH, GCS

  58. Who should i trade to Steele

    Tu – Highmore
    Td – Bramble

Whichever one stays would be on the bench as cover.

If i keep Bramble i could use him as a loop with on field Sharp to try get best score of the two each week.

    Or Comment
Keep both and trade Sharp to Steele.

    Cheers.

    7

    2
  59. TU Sharp & Mills
    TD Touk & Highmore

I could get Mills and Touk, but would be stuck with no trades. Comment if I should get both

  60. Finished 4th in cash league finals starting this week. Going up against 1st place.
TU bramble and brockman for Durham and hawkins (0 trades left but bench cover in each position)
TD bramble to someone like Rioli playing his new position and keep one trade spare

    2

    2
  61. T/U – Use my last trade to upgrade Bramble to my last premo forward around 510k
T/D – Save it until Bramble increases in price a bit more

Marty Parker is the rookie at F6

    2

    5
  62. Mids – Steele, Bont, Macrae, Walsh, Merrett, Mitchell, Lyons and Sharp (Jordan, Fyfe and Newcombe)
Fwds – Danger, Ziebell, Dale, Greene, Bolton, Madden (Waterman and Ginnivan)

TU – Jordan to Oliver and field Madden
TD – Madden/Highmore to Hall and field Sharp

    2

    2
  63. 2 trades left – Weightman/Madden as F6 for now. Rest of the team are keepers.

Scenario: Considering downgrading CCJ to DURHAM via DPP.

This will leave me with $328k in the bank for that final trade. Could then pull the trigger on a trade to Zorko or Dunkley in the final weeks of finals (finished top of league, so have a 2nd chance this week).

So… should I use a trade to downgrade CCJ to DURHAM?

TU: DO IT – 1 remaining trade is high risk if multiple players get injured, but it’s worth it for that final upgrade in a few weeks

TD: DON’T – injuries are coming thick and fast – save those 2 trades!

    4

    3
  64. TU:
    Dusty, Bolton > Marshall, Stephenson

    TD:
Dusty, Bianco > Dunkley, C West

Both leave me with same amount of trades, cash, and rookies on field (unless Bolton counts as a rookie)

    1

    5
  65. I have $430,100 available for my last trade. Who is likely to get the most points over the next 4 rounds?

    T/U: Fiorini

    T/D: Franklin

Feel free to suggest any other MID or FWD under $430,100 if you think they could be better than the two options above.

    6

  66. Have 3 trades left & 296k ITB. 2 options I’m looking at this week

TU – CCJ & Newcombe > Dunkley & C.West (full premo with 1 trade left)
TD – CCJ > Marshall (2 trades left to cover for emergencies)

    2

    1
  67. If you have $220K left but only one trade, do you

TU upgrade to last premium, as there is cover in every line so no donuts if injuries

TD save that trade for injury of big dog, and risk having unused cash

    2

  68. Hi all, it’s finals season!!
