    1. Probably my single biggest regret of the season has been not backing myself on CJ. Really looking the goods.

      1. He was in and out of my side too. HH. I was alternating between CJ and Hayden Young.

If it’s your biggest regret this season so far tho, I reckon you’re doing better than you think.

  1. Thinking of playing the long game and trading Young for Chapman to keep cash flow early. Should have Fyfe back so should come out a little ahead in theory. At this stage, only one trade.

    1. Can wait another week on Waterman, gets you closer to his bubble game.

But honestly I get why you’d feel that pulling the pin on Dow is justified.

He has to be lineball for keeping his spot next week.

  2. Ive got some players really struggling for points and consistency now so ive got unfortunate sideways trades to do.

    T/U –
    Neale < Jordon
    Flynn < Grundy

    T/D –
    Maynard < Ridley
    L.Hunter < Any performing premo

Regarding the neale < grundy option its my only way of getting him in really and if i dont do it now i cant get him for at least 5 weeks. Neale under performing as we all know. But hunter and maynard are really worrying. Jordon the only rookie i dont have. Not sure which way to go this week.

    4

    43
    1. I think Maynard may be able to regain form but Ridley is a must have at this point, if you can get him in while he’s still this cheap, get him.

      4

  3. Honestly didn’t think i would be questioning this again.. but since we’ve heard about Neales back concerns what do we do if we held?

Tu; Chop him now before he drops further
Td; Hold him, he’s a keeper

        1. Cripps wasn’t the most expensive midfielder in the game who was coming off a 130+ average. Cripps only needs to score 95-105 to be valuable atm. Neale’s breakeven is going to be obscenely high for weeks, his price is going to continue to plummet. Plus with the back injury he’s carrying and the way he’s being targeted by opposition teams, it’s doubtful whether he’ll even return to a 120+ average. Easy trade out for me, cash generation, get 2 premos in, and look to potentially get him back in when his price bottoms out.

          20

          1
          1. He scored 74 in the first half this week before he got some attention. He didn’t seem to have any back problems when he jumped on Bailey after the siren

Has an 8 day break now

            11

            4
            1. Neale just dropped $80k so you are too late. That early trade boat departed last round.

Consider a trade is worth ~$150k, trading him last week may have been a master stroke. Time will tell.

More often than not there is regret (I hold Neale)

  4. Do I trade my mid-price picks of LDU and/or De Goey or do I give them another week?

TU: Trade one of them, get a premo in
TD: Give them one more week

For those who think I should trade, please comment which of the two you think would be a better choice to keep. Appreciate any thoughts.

    21

    1
    1. I would hold LDU.

Anderson and Polec could be out for a few weeks, might be his big chance to work off Cunnington

      3

      1
      1. I’m leaning towards trading LDU right now because my midfield is pretty thin and I really need to just get a premo who’s gonna go big for me consistently. LDU’s breakeven is already pretty high and I don’t wanna be stuck with a mid who’s not gonna go up in price or score big and miss an opportunity to get a premo in this week.

        3

        0
        1. Which position do they hold in your line-ups?

Based on your post, I’d guess LDU is M5? De Goey at F3? F4?

          1

          0
          1. LDU at M5, JDG at M2. Thinking of giving them both one more week and then waiting for some premo price drops to either go LDU -> Oliver or JDG -> Danger/Dusty. Leaning towards the first move since Oliver looks likely to drop in price and I’d like him to be my M1. I’ve got cash in the bank to afford that trade so might just sit tight for one more week and see if either of them show me something.

            1

            0
    2. I have a JDG owner and will be trading. I backed him in for increased midfield time, and it just isn’t there. The injury to Elliott only makes it worse, so I think it’s time to cut your losses on him. He will still pull out the odd 100+ game, but will be a frustrating season.

      3

    1. Chacing points with Guthrie and paying too much for him

Danger back in a couple of weeks

Prestia has to go, I’d look at Taranto, Cogs out for a while he will benefit the most

  5. Hi guys with H.Young out with injury do I
    T/U H.Young > C.Jiath (Left with 10k)
    T/D H.Young > H.Chapman (Left with 180k)

    18

    32
      1. Gee, Jiath is averaging more than Stewart. Is Stewart a keeper? I am lucky enough to have started Jiath.

        2

        3
  6. Left over Cash Fantasia to Ridley

    Then Trade Philips for Jiath;
    or
    Trade Kosi for Chapman

    TU: Jiath for points
    TD: Chapman for cash

    8

    28
    1. Bad side trades:
Koschitzke is playing against an injuries ravaged Freo. He could get a haul and it is game on in cash generation
Dow is still making money. He is neither injured or has a change in position. True he didnt turn out to be what we thought preseason, but his BE is only 40. He just needs one ton and will hit his cash generation target .
Sell them to get a premo, otherwise you are trading to someone who needs to be traded out again…thats 2 trades, is it worth it?

      1

      2
      1. While I agree he’s not an automatic trade-out, I think you’re over-stating Dow’s first three rounds – he only made 10k this week and his BE is near his average. Yes, a ton would get his cash generation going, but based on what he’s shown so far, is it realistic to expect he’ll ton up in the next 2-3 weeks?

        8

        0
    1. I was tossing up on this before round 3 started, so I grabbed both of them (missed out on Tex though).

      0

  7. Jiath putting up some huge numbers early, Clark’s range has been 61-80, is it worth the 65k upgrade +trade to CJ?

    TU: Yay
    TD: Nay

    7

    41
  8. Not sure whether to prioritize cash flow (200k ITB already) or points on field but seems like Dow is cooked. He looks so bad!

    T/U – Dow to Impey/CJ
T/D – Dow to Chapman/Waterman and waiting until they’re on the bubble.

    3

    18
      1. Yep, as a Freo fan I can say that we looked horrible on the weekend with two slow ruckmen. I feel JL didn’t want to make any changes to the team that beat GWS, but I will be shocked if Treacy does not come in this week.

The likely, and not necessarily fair casualty would be Meek as Darcy probably has the match fitness now to be NO.1 ruck again.

Meek’s JS is not rock solid enough to justify this trade I feel.

        2

        0
        1. Totally agree.

I was actually shocked to see Darcy and Meek in the same side. It worked for a week (R2), but they may need to change things up now Treacy is available.

Hunter may also be on the outer with Marshall looking like he may get back in. They desperately need him after last week.

          1

          0
          1. Looks like Treacy will play forward with Meek and Darcy.

At least until Lobb is fit.

It seems really tall to me, as we were exposed by the Blues more agile tall defenders last week.

Meek owners should see at least, a few more weeks of cash growth.

            1

            0
            1. We needed more tall – we can go with all 3 until Lobb fit.
(Taberner is a spud who only looks half decent ’cause we have no one else [and you can’t teach height])

              0

              0
    1. Flynn has cash to make and you wouldn’t trade out Gawn or Grundy

If you started Witts (injured) or ROB he would be a decent option.

Was so big on him all preseason until Flynn came along

      5

  9. Easy one for me. De Goey out, move some pieces around, Ridley in. I expected/hoped he’d get more midfield time but he’s been my main disappointment & a mistake, so lesson learned, he’s gone. Now I have the right Jordan.

    10

  10. Am looking at going Kosi to Chapman but then Is it too late to get onto Tex? I know I’ve miss the boat but thought he wouldn’t go as well against GCS. Or should I go with someone like Jiath?
Trade at the moment is Hayden Young for either
    TU: Tex via DPP
    TD: Jiath

    3

    22
    1. Not too late but now you are basically selecting him as a keeper.

Yes, you could still make 100k out of him but at that point you’re not selling him anyway because he’s a top 6 forward.

      6

      1
  11. H Young to Chapman
    DeGoey to Dunkley

Just worry about burning trades so fast that will be 5 used after those trades

    23

    1
  12. What do you guys think?
    tu: J.Caldwell,J.Kosh > T.Walker, H.Chapman

td: i can get a premium mid and H.Chapman

    1

    14
  13. Thoughts on trading cripps to ridley ?

I know its just chasing points right now and trades are gold but I’m looking at it like cripps probs won’t be a top 8 mid but ridley will be top or second defender. On 27 trades and will need to make 2 more if thumbs up.

Tu- drop cripps and catch ridley before he gets away

Td- hold cripps, wait for cows to fatten and pay premium for ridley in a few weeks or so

    10

  14. Hi what about ?
H Young to Highmore or Chapman
and T Green to J Ridley (via sharp ddp)

    Td – No
    Comments are welcome Thanks

  15. Spending the treasure from the offloading of Neale last week…
Was going to get rid of Cox, but his 93 gets him a reprieve. Sharp becomes Ridley and Dow becomes Andy Brayshaw. And the team looks so much better.

    9

    1
  16. Gonna upgrade Young to Ridley this week. Not sure what my 2nd trade should be. Thinking either of these 2. Option 1 is probably the safer way to go but been pretty impressed with Impey’s last couple of weeks and he definitely has a bit of cash to make

    TU: Kosi > H.Chapman (130k left)
    TD: T.Phillips > Impey (249k left)

    15

    2
  17. any love for Parks? Have 2 DNPs on the def bench this week – highmore and Sharp. will these guys get game time again? just want cover on the bench – have Kosi on field

    1

    1
    1. I would think Highmore is a good chance to come back in after STK’s poor game and there is a rumour Sharp is back in this week. He comes from Ballarat where Brisbane plays next. I might regret trading Highmore out last week.

      9

      0
    2. I’m confident Parks will play vs Gold Coast. Hold tight and see if he gets named for that 3rd game before you bring him in.

He came in for Tom Williamson and will be battling him for that spot unless a Plowman/Jones/Weitering gets injured.

  18. Need a backline rookie ASAP; Not sure which one to ditch first..
    T/u – Sharp to Chapman
    T/d – Bergman to Chapman
    Or should I trade Kosi/Highmore?

    10

    3
  19. I want Ridley, but can’t get to him without moving on from Neale, which ideally I should have done last week.

T/U – De Goey to Chapman. Hold 2nd trade (28 trades left)
T/D – De Goey & Neale to Ridley & Chapman (27 trades left)

  20. Solid Team Ranked 2800.
Laird Stewart Daniel Short Zac. Clark
Macrae Neale Merrett Martin Walsh Gulden Powel Jordan
    Gawn Flynn
Butters Walker Ziebell Impey Daniher Warner
    All the usual rookies.
Ist thought is to sit. But obviously Neale a worry and I don’t like the
    look of Zac Williams.
    Ballsy move would be:-
Neale and Zac to Ridley and Sloane.

    8

    6
  21. Obviously panicking way too early, but am considering ditching Josh Kelly. He is just leaking cash for me at this point.

Breakeven for round 4 is 152 with a projected price change of -$22k (already dropped $32.4k)

I have $190k spare in the bank.

TU – Trade him for another, more reliable premium. (Macrae?)

TD – Relax mate. Don’t waste a trade.

    1

    28
  22. Hey everyone, bit disappointed with myself for not trading Dow last week. Sometimes you just go with your gut on these decisions but here we have another opportunity to fix that wrong.

    Young> Chapman
    Dow > Jiath (Via DPP).

Only have the 366k to work with. There is a possible scenario where I trade Dow to Impey, however, I’m then left with either Koschitzke or Highmore as my D6, which despite Highmore likely return this week, it doesn’t give me much security going forward. In terms of picking Jiath, well theres not much else at that price range and Jiath has had a pretty good start to the season. Also leaves 33k in the bank for next week. Thoughts?

    5

    1
  23. I’ve used two trades so far, is it worth trading Tom Phillips down to Impey or even stringer or a rookie like cox to free some cash?

Or hold him for the time being ?

    Help!

    2

    4
  24. Is it too late to get Tex given that his price has already risen over 100k?

He is playing North and a depleted Freo backline next 2 weeks. Breakeven of -35 still too.

I am trading Dow – like everyone should – he’s putrid. and weighing up maybe kozi (has a breakeven of 22 and will surely get dropped.

I really wanna get Ridley in for obvious reasons. In terms of cash gen maybe getting walker and either CJ or Impey could work.

    is Tex worth getting
T/U – Yes, will still rise in cash a fair bit and can sideways for danger potentially
T/D – No, His run will end soon, bring in the 2 hawks players who have unbelievable roles for scoring well in supercoach.

Comment for any other suggestions – very open to them

    Cheers boys xx

        1. As a girl / female- I can confirm that I play Supercoach every year, and spend minutes/hours each day & week trying to perfect my team and reading every article on this great site & contributing to the thumbs up/down votes and give helpful advice whenever I can.

That being said, I don’t take offense when a coach thanks the “boys” for any comments or advice as I’m not that precious but appreciate the correction to include “the girls” from Swanster.

          27

          1. OMG I am so sorry fellow supercoachers, actually feel terrible. I am by no means a sexist at all. Myself personally I dont know any female supercoachers and wish there was more. Thanks Lisa for your comment it was really nice. I also spend a lot of time each day using this excellent page. I wish my gf loved doing this obsession like i do – would make life a lot easier aha. Sorry again to anyone who was offended by my poor comment earlier. And goodluck to everyone for rest of season. And if you have Paddy Dow please trade him out this week, he is awful !!!

  25. Man, I am stuck like stepsis. Just like last year, my opening team has eaten so many injuries and been a disaster.

I don’t have Walker who has North and Freo in the next fortnight. I also don’t have Warner, Impey, CJ or Chapman. I ate a donut in my backline because I couldn’t reverse trades with the stretched out draw.

I want Walker, but can’t decide on the last trade and the backline situation is really twisting my arm. I really want Warner or Impey.

Should I pass on Walker? I see too much value going by if I pass on him.

    6

    1
    1. Don’t worry about who you don’t have – worry about who you do have.

You only have 30 spots in your side, so you will inevitably miss out on most players every year. I struggled with this the first couple of years I played SC, trying to jump on every player who got into a purple patch and was “value-priced” for their short-term average. That and grabbing rookies / cows even after they had a price rise – it is very rarely worth trying to jump on a rookie a week late.

These approaches use up a lot of trades and only gets you a few points a week early in the year, before you get lapped by coaches who used their trades wisely.

      7

      0
    2. Yes but … if you’ve taken injury hits, and are at risk of losing league games early (IMO, early wins are critical in Leagues) … you could see Walker as a correctional/fix trade.
Depends on who else you have, and how badly you’re leaking points..
So long as you conserve trades in the next few weeks, early trades aren’t terrible.
Also, he kinda needs to stay in your side – as has been commented previously…
(disclaimer, I welcomed Tex to my side last week).

  26. Was kicking myself on not going Dow > Impey last week, however will use my first trade this week and go Dow > Chapman via Sharp.

    7

    0
  27. TU: Young -> Chapman & Kosi -> Jiath
TD: Young -> Chapman & Phillips -> Ridley (via Sharp DPP)
Comment: Young only and save a precious trade!

    2

    5
  28. Is T Phillips to Tex a wasted trade? Phillips doesn’t look to be a keeper and Tex could be in the top forwards. 26 trades left currently without doing it:

    TU: Do it
    TD: Save the trade

    4

    10
  29. Looking to make my first trades this week after cash generation, my team is worth 10.9 mil lol
    O. Markov + O. Fantasia to H. Chapman + C. Guthrie (via swinging Laird back)
Break even of 40 each dont believe they have much more cash to make for me
    T/U= go for it
    T/D= hold a trade

    6

    1
  30. What do you guys think? it would just depend on who is in the teams.

    TU:P.Dow ,J.Caldwell> J.Impey, S.Walsh

    TD:J.Caldwell,J.Kosch> Z.Merrett,H.Chapman

    21

    0
  31. TU option A:
    De Goey + H Young – > Ridley + Waterman

    TD option B:
    H Clark + H Young – > Ridley + Chapman

My preference would be to ditch De Goey since he’s not getting the midfield minutes I’d hoped and bring in Chapman on the bubble but don’t have the necessary dpp swings. Clark I believe is more likely to come around than De Goey as the whole saints team is off rather than just him and he is playing midfield. With that said which trade does the collective wisdom of the Supercoach Talk coaches deem best?

(any reasoning behind voting hugely appreciated)

    1

    5
    1. I’m a Clark owner and I’d probably back him coming good over De Goey but only just. Chapman seems like a more crucial piece than Waterman though and with the lack of good defensive rookies, that swung me to vote for option B

      3

      0
  32. Just made the one trade last week and that was Sharp to Sam Berry. Dow’s stinker start to the season has him on the chopping block but don’t have the cash to upgrade to a premo.

DEF: Lloyd, Laird, Stewart, May, Clark, Highmore (Kosi, L.Jones)
MID: Neale, Oliver, Titch, ZMerrett, Cripps, Gulden, Powell, Jordan (S.Berry, A.Scott, Downie)
    RUC: Gawn, Grundy (Flynn)
FWD: Dunkley, Ziebell, Campbell, Warner, Dow, Brockman (Treacy, Rowe)
27 trades left and $31,200 ITB

    Suggestions welcomed!!
    Cheers

    1. Basically means that player has played 2 games and his price is about to rise quite a lot if he has a negative breakeven.

      6

      0
    1. I am thinking of doing the same, I should have done it last week…

I am likely to do it this week, only because I still have 29 trades.

      4

      0
  33. So would it be better just getting better rookies bench than Koschitzke and sharp or dow well bring in chapman and waterman rather than a side ways of one of Ryan Stewart or short or doch to Ridley with dow to one of them .

    1

    1
  34. Hunter Clark been disappointing and a difficult couple rounds coming up thinking of going
    H. Clark > Jiath
    Kozi > Chapman

    1

    3
  35. I know I should have done this last week…but with further news of his back issues and 29 trades I think Neale has to go.

TU – Neale to Ridley, Young to Chapman ($292k in bank)

TD – Young to Chapman, Dow to Frederick ($273k in bank)

I could also keep Neale and just trade Young to Chapman, waiting a week for Dow to Waterman.

    9

    3
  36. Seriously considering:
    Neale -> Ridley & A. Fyfe -> Chapman

Most likely hold and keep my 28 trades in reserve though.

    7

    1
  37. Ridley and Chapman coming into my team this week, no ifs or buts about it. Young has to go, but who should the second be?

    T/U Clark
    T/D Campbell

    11

  38. Had to deal with the Heppell, Caldwell, Draper disaster last round so missed Tex, Is it too late ?? Can straight trade from Henry as I have the cash. Or Henry to Chapman via Cox dpp, and hopefully downgrade to Waterman next round and just maybe get Danger. I’m leaning towards Chapman…going to earn $60k less over the next three weeks, but $250k cheaper. Then remove the “T” button from my laptop for a few weeks.

    T/u Tex
    T/d Chapman

    7

    7
  39. Time for a FWD upgrade:
TU – Tex (can he sustain his scoring form?)
TD – Greene (class, I see him as a definite keeper)

    Thanks,

    6

    6
  40. Wanted to bring in Impey last week, but other corrections where needed. So this week:
Kosi & Bruhn to Chapman & Impey.
    TU: Good trades
    TD: Think again pal

    3

    0
  41. Thoughts on these??

T/U – Clark to Waterman (via Cox) + Campbell to Greene (Dunkley F1 and Ziebell F2 atm)

T/D – Kosi to Chapman and hold the other trade

    0

    9
  42. Thoughts?

T/U Kosi to Chapman and keep $364k in the bank for upgrades in a couple of weeks.

T/D Dow to Dunkley which leaves $1.4k in the bank

Only fielding 1 rookie in the defence. Have got Butts so fielding a zero shouldn’t be an issue.

    1

    6
  43. Taylor Adams as a POD has been a shocking call by me so trading him and H Young out. Just working out who for.

    TU: Ridley & Chapman
    TD: Sloane & Jiath

I think Ridley is probably a must have so that’s where I’m leaning but want to see what the appetite is for a bit of madness.

    5

    3
  44. What are coaches thoughts on Tex? Obviously this insane avg isn’t sustainable but with opponents like North, Freo and Hawks over the next few there is major potential for him to continue his form. I do have the funds to upgrade from Dow. So what do you think?

T/U – Get him in the team!
    T/D – I just don’t trust him

    Cheers,

    1. FaZe Blue.

Its not so much what he will average, as how long he will stay fit.

He is great value currently. Like Boak before him he has returned to the mids and has a real chance to score 105+ and be solid M8.

The main thing for me is he always seems to get injured. I’d be surprised if he’s played a whole season in the last 6/8 years.

The other thing to consider is the “young side fatigue factor”
Most young sides tend to drop off as the year progresses.
I’d be a little worried Sloane’s form may drop off too, if his side starts getting flogged.

So… if you want to back Adelaide to improve significantly on last years win loss record. And you think Sloane can find a way to stop getting hurt.

Then yes, he maybe worth a shot.

Seems like a lot of “if’s” though .

  45. Have 112k in the bank and have young and dow who need to go… My initial plan was to trade them for chapman and warner. should I consider using the cash on the likes of cj,impey or someone else? Also may sound silly but cumming who will even be taking more kickouts since perryman is out? Would love some advice on what to do.

      1. Sure can! 112k spare
def- laird, Stewart, Daniel, young, clarke, koz (sharp, high more)
mid- Oliver, bont, Merrett, Cripps, Taranto, gulden, Campbell, jordon (Powell, berry, brockman)
        Ruck – gawndy (flynn)
Forward – dunks, dusty, ziebel, Daniher, Dow, Rowe (Scott, bergman)

        1. Charlie

Is that H young at D4?

I’ll assume its the other North Young as you didn’t bring him up.

Firstly if Highmore,Sharp ,Kosi don’t get named you will need a rookie Defender. I would look at Parks from Carlton.

We will know if Highmore , Sharp are playing before you need to select him. The back up plan would be Kosi / Chapman Sunday presuming Chapman gets named.

So… then I would look at going Dow to Impey / Warner.

Both are great decisions for different reasons.
Impey is more expensive but much more likely to be a keeper at F6/7 . He also has the early Bye so will be handy in Rounds 13/14.
Warner is cheaper and will make more coin. He will need to be traded probably before his crowded Bye R14.

Maybe put it to the thumbs ?

          Hope this helps some what.

If it is H Young go to CJ then Dow to Warner.

          1

            1. Charlie.

You may have to take a leap of faith to get Warner.
If one of Sharp / Highmore , Kosi don’t get named you may have to wear a 0

              Dow to Warner
              Then Young to CJ.

Also you could start by moving Campbell forward ( put Powell or Berry on field.) via Scott.

This should help with your team set up.

You would then have Mid rookies on field.
              Gulden, Jordan ,Berry / Powell.

              Forward Rookies
Warner Campbell. ( Rowe Bergman bench)

              Best of luck.

  46. Bank: 324,400
    Def
    J.Llyod,R.Laird,C.Daniel,J.Short,N.Cox,J.Kosch (H.Sharp,T.Highmore)
    Mid
    L.Neale,M.Bont,D.Martin,P.Cripps,J.Caldwell,E.Gulden,B.Campbell,p.Dow (T.Powell,A.Scott,C.Downie)
    Ruck
    M.Gawn,B Grundy (M.Flynn)
    Forward
    J.Dunkley,J.Ziebell,J.Daniher,C.Warner,J.Rowe,T.Brockman (H.Jones,O.Henry)

What do you guys think i should i do? should i focus on my mid and forward and use caldwell to bring extra cash or use it on the defense?

    1

    0
    1. Ok here goes Adam.

Caldwell to Walsh will cost you $209K
You really need another Mid with Dusty at M3
He seems by far the best value, at a price that won’t break your bank.

      Bank left $115K

This second trade is optional. You may want to save one to avoid a donut in the backline…

I would take the risk and swap Dow forward with Brockman.
      Put Powell on field.

      Dow to Impey costs $77K

      $38K bank.

Then your mid bench is Brockman . Scott and Downie.

      And your Forwards are.
      Dunkley . Zeibell . Impey . Daniher .Warner .

And you can loop Rowe and Jones with the non playing O Henry.

      Best of luck.

  48. For those Simpkin owners, do we push the panic button or accept the fate he’ll be a sub-90 player this season?

Was hoping he would continue his ascension from his 93.0 AVG from last season to something around 100.0 range.

Yes, it’s only been 3 rounds, but his BE is 111 for round 4, projecting to go -$11,800, which would make his total loss -$26,100 in just 4 games.

He’s heading for the sub-450k price and he’s becoming more appealing to trade for a cow at this rate.

TU – Upgrade him/replace for cow
TD – Relax mate. Give him time.

  49. Need your help SC Community! Ranked top 2000 and want to stay up there. Have 27 trades left before the below.

    My team looks like this:

Laird, Stewart, Daniel, Short, Fantasia, Clark (Highmore, Kosi)
Steele, Oliver, Bont, Merrett, Mcgrath, Taranto, Gulden, Jordan (Powell, Berry, E Smith)
    Gawn, Flynn (Meek)
Dunkley, Tex, Ziebell, Impey, Campbell, Warner (Rowe, A Scott)

I have 37k cash and considering these two options:

TU: Fantasia to Chapman (184k cash, need to field a rookie, Highmore or Chapman)
TD: Fantasia to Jiath (nil cash, no rookies in defence)

Next week plan to downgrade Rowe and Kosi to generate 100k cash the start upgrading R6.

    Thoughts/comments really appreciated.

    TD: Neale is a keeper

    1. Trade Neale- Hard to justify his scoring at the moment- but not sure about bringing in Taranto. Perhaps consider someone like Zak Butters (488K Fwd). Only 25K difference between him and Taranto and we know Butters has a high ceiling. This is his breakout year.

  53. Thinking 2 trades for me this week.

    – Dow out for Chapman via DPP.
    – Jordan/Powell out for Ridley also via DPP.

Hate culling rookies early, but Ridley looks like a must have. So who should get the boot?

    TU for Jordan
    TD for Powell

    1. James Jordon’s gotta go. Tom Powell is the next Tom Mitchell. Expect him to bounce back this week against the Crows.

      2

      9
      1. What? “Gotta go”? Jordon’s COMFORTABLY got Powell covered both in SC and development at this stage; averaging more tackles (6 to 1), touches and points.

Critically, Powell’s time on ball has been trimmed by Cunnington’s return and Phillips’ debut. Only had 4 CBAs last week and made a couple dirty clangers – not entirely his fault, playing in an ass team.

Whereas Jordon’s playing in what looks to be a top 8 (even 4) side and gone at 10, 6 and 10 CBAs even with all the moving parts in the Dees’ midfield.

That aside, shouldn’t be trading out either. Least not Jordon who can do 70s and get to 350k. I get that Ridley’s a must have, but don’t cut off your nose (cash gen) to spite your face.

          1. Baseless, Frankie.

No real “form” to assess. At this point it’s about JS, role and development. It’s not like he’s gonna come down from 35 touches lol, he’s been plodding along nicely at 15-20 touches a game and tackling with the zest that plenty of debutants have (eg. Berry).

Lunacy to trade him, or any rookie that is set to reliably make cash, out imo.

            6

            0
            1. Strong disagree GD. I think Frankie has the measure of Jordon to a much greater level than you do. Powell is well and truly the next Tom. Mitchell, both originate from SA, both are called Tom and both started in poor sides (Mitchell Swans of 2012, Powell North of 2021). What’s more, Powell has an advantage Mitchell never had; Todd Goldstein tapping it down to him. With the greatest ruck of the modern age, if not all time giving silver service to Powell I’d expect him to average close to premium numbers. Meanwhile, Jordon is well and truly cooked. Can see the Dees re writing contract legislation in order to delist him immediately. Ya, lots to learn from wiser heads like Frankie GD. Many will disagree with him but I’m sure history will absolve him. Invariably, he’s right.

  54. Hello, Am I able to make a trade after the lockout if it is for players that still are playing later such as a Hawthorn vs Fremantle game on Sunday (made up) can I make a trade on Saturday to remove one of those players. Say Kosi to Chapman.

    2

    0
    1. yes Foster, every week is a rolling lockout before every game. You can trade in and out any players, as long as they haven’t played. If they have played, you will see a lock symbol on them that shows you cannot move them.

  55. Have 580k to upgrade Young down back. Currently running four Swans players(Lloyd, Gulden, Campbell, Warner) is it too much to bring in Mills and have five?

TU: Go with five and bring in Mills for Young
TD: Go with a Short/Bowes type and save 60/90k instead

    3

    1
    1. Just depends on your bye structure, Rizzle.

Would another R14 bye player in Mills tip you over 6 premos for that round? If so, look elsewhere. If not, np bringing him in.

      3

      0
    2. Jack Bowes is risky but I think Jayden Short isn’t a bad idea. However, the way the Swans and Mills are playing right now, Mills is worth paying the extra cash for. So Mills for Young is my advice.

      1

      2
    3. Volume of rookies is irrelevant as most will be gone by the bye.

Maybe not Gulden and Warner, but then your risk is spread to one per line anyway.

  57. Hey folks, undecided on how to proceed regarding trading plans this week, would appreciate any insight/ feedback on my current situation.
    27 trades, bank 384k, rank 3.3k
    Backs
    Ridley, Laird, Daniel, Stewart,
    Clarke, Highmore. ( Kosi- Sharp)
    Mids
    Macrae, Steele, Oliver, Walsh,
    Brayshaw, Gulden, Jordan, Berry.
    ( Powell, Scott, Fyfe.)
    Rucks
    Gawn, Flynn. ( Meek)
    Fwds
    Dunkley, Martin, Ziebell, Warner,
    Campbell, Rowe. ( Jones, Brockman)

    My current thoughts are
1- Clarke to Lloyd 1 transfer 42k left
2- Kosi to Jiath and Brockman to Impey 2 trades. 46k left.
    3- save trades. Save bank.
Open to other ideas obviously, but leaning towards option 2 atm.
Option 1 is diffiicult in terms of not
    knowing rookie availability pre
    Thurs kick off….

    1. Your team is pretty decent so I wouldn’t go wasting trades and burning cash unless absolutely necessary.

Love Jiath, but don’t see him putting those numbers up and of course, people are points chasing this round with him, but I really think he comes back down to earth and gets a 60-70 game this round! Would love for him to prove me wrong. Just not worth the trade though.

As for Impey, it’s now or never. If he keeps putting those numbers up, he’ll be $400k+ by the BYE rounds. Then a perfect upgrade selection.

Clarke to Lloyd is obviously a good choice, but your backline is stacked, so I’d be using that trade to bring in Chapman, who’ll see a huge increase in game time and coin. (Plus gives you extra cash after the trade)

      0

      2
      1. DB Cooper.

I think you should get CJ.

He may have the odd bad game as young players tend to be a little inconsistent. I still think with his role and talent he should easily average 85+up to Byes.

Running him and Clark at D5/6 up to the Byes will save a heap of headaches.

Impey looks good , But I have another potential trade.

        Meek to Tom Hickey.

Meek may get dropped for Treacy this week.

Flynn has Grundy, and could go sub par.

Hickey is currently the No3 Ruck after G&G.

He has money to make and will help set you up when Flynn is ripe for harvest.

        Worth a thought anyway.

        3

        0
        1. Great suggestion, FT!

Look at who Hickey’s next opponents are:

          – Essendon (no ruck)
          – GWS (Flynn)
          – Suns (no ruck)

With the Swans going strong, that’s 3x 120s right there.

I’d roll with FT’s suggestion, DB.

          3

          1
          1. Meek may get a few more weeks with Longmire hinting that Treacy won’t get a game, as he can’t carry the second Ruck duties. He is only 18.

Looks like Meek stays at least until Lobb is back.

            I still like Hickey 😉

            1. Cheers FT for the feedback,

    TD: Jiath and T Atkins

  59. Can someone reply to this message please no tu or td needed but I am just wondering which of these rookies will get a game this week. Kosi, Sharp and Highmore.

    0

    0
    1. Don’t see Kosi making the 22 this week for that putrid performance.

I am banking on Highmore to return after St Kilda’s game. He played well enough Round 1 & 2 to get the nod for this game.

As for Sharp, wouldn’t really be touching him.

My tip is to bring in Chapman (FREO) as his job security seems more cemented at the moment now that Young is out.

      1

      0
    2. Read/heard somewhere (I think on one of the SC podcasts) that Sharp may get selected this week because he grew up in Ballarat but not exactly sure that’s real intel. Sounds good though.

      1

      0
    3. At this stage I would say none of those rookies get a game this week. Koschitzke is the most likely but as said, he was woeful last week. Highmore trained with the Saints’ B side today.
As for the Sharp rumour, I think someone might be having a laugh there. I’ve never heard of someone being selected because the game is being played in their home town…

  60. Best way to get Ridley?

T/U Clark & JDG to Ridley & Waterman
T/D Neale & Kozi to Ridley & Chapman

Neale is a killer. I’ve worn the $80k price drop, so I’m tempted to ride it out

    0

    6
    1. I would be dropping Neale ASAP my man. He is going to drop another $50k after this round, so it is best to just accept the loss and use that money somewhere else.

      2

      2
  61. So I am looking at getting in Ridley as I feel he is becoming a must have, and I want to jump in before he gets too expensive. My plan is to do this:

De Goey > Impey to generate the cash I need to go
    Hunter Clark to Ridley.

I am concerned that I am doing too much of a sideways trade here, but De Goey isn’t getting the mid field time I was hoping and so far Clark has failed to fire.

TU: Do it – go chase those wonderful points of ridley’s.
TD: Just stick with the players and save the trades (used two so far).

Alternative is to go De Goey to Tex and just leave it there.

    Interested in thoughts.

    8

    0
    1. I am a tad conservative with my trades, but I have to admit, you kind of need to go for it here. Ridley’s price won’t be slowing down anytime soon, so if you don’t get him now, prepare to pay Lloyd 2020 prices.

Impey is a now or never buy. He’ll be costing $400k+ by the BYE rounds, mark my words. You want that cash generation so you can upgrade him.

      1

      0
    2. Tex has another few big weeks ahead of him, but then again that can be said about Impey too.

Without knowing your trade situation last week this certainly supports the principle of super aggressive trading before rounds 3 and 4. More than most years there are massive midprice bargains that can clearly be called either breakouts or fallen premiums.

  62. Getting rid of P.Dow and have an extra $155k in the bank

T/u “Cash in” Dow for another rookie (Devon Robertson or Michael Frederick) and use the extra dosh to get Jiath in my defense for Kosi
T/d Use extra cash to upgrade Dow to a Ziebell or Impey

    0

    12
  63. Dow to Chapman (DPP switch) and bank some cash worth it or shaky JS for Chapman?

TU – Do it, Chapman should stay on for a few more games and make some cash.

TD – Keep Dow and wait another week for Waterman etc.

    7

    4
  64. With the news of Jones debuting this week, I can now afford to go Dow>Jones via Sharp(Highmore and Kozi on bench) and Young>Ridley. Is it worth pulling the trigger on this trade knowing the potential to bring in Burgess or Parks next week for Kozi if he gets dropped

    TU: Go for it
TD: Stick to trading Dow to Chapman, and Young to Short instead and miss out on Ridley

    9

    1
    1. Rizzle.

      I would go for it.

As a Short owner, I’m a little nervous with Houli a likely in.
He should be alright, I would just like to see for sure.

I’m in no way sure of this, but I feel Jones will have better long term JS than Chapman*.
Port are a much better side and will win many more games.
Winning sides rarely change their line ups very much.
There was a fair bit of hype over Jones preseason. I think he gets a chance to prove himself.

Young often losing sides (like Freo 🙁 ) Tend to change their younger players around a bit. to rest them , or to give others on the list a chance.
      * Freo have a pretty long Injury list this year so that should help with Chapman JS short term at least.

I’m not sure Ridley can maintain 135+ with Sydney , Brisbane and the Pies in the next few weeks. Theres very little doubt he’s not top 3/4 Defender this year.

I started Mills over Lloyd and couldn’t be happier. If you want a point of difference , and he fits your Bye structure. I would look at him as another slightly cheaper option.

      Best of luck.

      3

    1. Either way I’d wait for the Lions team to be released Friday night on the very slim chance Sharp is named

      1

      0
  65. I’ve been tossing up moving on Clark ,who has been serviceable but hardly set the world on fire and Koschitzke.

This would allow me to get Jiath and Chapman, giving me an upgrade and some depth in defence, given Kosi might get dropped.

Conservative and reactionary trading, maybe a little aggressive on total trades used, but nothing astounding.

Even burning a trade to get Chapman in who has no great guarantees for longevity in the team doesn’t excite me greatly.

Now we hear Highmore played in the B team and is no certainty, and Lachie Jones is going to be named. I certainly rated Lachie Jones heavily in the preseason and think I’d rather wait for him on the bubble than Chapman to get a couple of weeks of cash growth.

However, my market theory is that we have 30 trades, and all trades are equal, so you shouldn’t be trading out cash growth players when you can trade out negative earners.

The standout negative earner in my side has a forecast big drop ahead after a poor score last week, and plays against a noted tagger this week, and has a breakeven 50 above his average. Meanwhile Clark still has a breakeven 50 below his average.

So, taking this market theory to it’s limits. Oliver-> Jiath and Kosi -> Cumming via DPP. This allows me to get two guys on big cash growth cycles who are currently tracking at what is traditionally a “premium” defender status.

Dodges the cash drop from the de Boer tag and any poor score for O’Connor that will hit the next 4 price cycles on Clayton Oliver.

Cumming replaces Powell on field via either Clark or Laird.

    T/u: Ballsy
    T/d: Nuts

    9

    13
    1. Other option is a same/same but trading in Impey and Jiath.

      T/u Way more sane
      T/d Still completely nuts

      1

      7
      1. Slightly less insane but still nuts. You don’t trade out a premium midfielder you picked because of one tag-affected score. You’d end up trading almost all your midfielders at one point during the year.

        1

        0
  66. I thought I was nuts considering taking L Jones early.

Trading Oliver has to be madness.
They may go to Petracca anyway.

    Back to Jones.

Going him this week, is theoretically no different than starting him.

I was going to start him round one anyway,as I believed he was going to be one of the best “on field” defensive rookies.
Everyone says wait till there on the bubble. I really need an “on field” defensive rookie now.

Anything could happen in 2 weeks, more injuries. another “Bubble” player to get in.

He could also go 80 the next 2 weeks and I’m a genius.

    Early train to Jones town?

    Sorry that sounds bad 🙁

Anyone for the “Fix your backline” Jones Express ?

    10

    1
    1. With Jones coming in, I’m thinking something similar, FT.
Was going to do Young -> Chapman and then if I needed an extra trade for a league win, was going to go Kosi -> Jiath.
But…… with Jones coming in, his JS should be better than Chapman’s (Logue, Hamling & Pierce all back soon hopefully) plus an out of sync rookie cash generation isn’t all bad, plus I get him cheap rather than having to pay extra for Jiath.
TU: Am I as mad as FT for even considering this?
      TD: Stick with plan A

      PS: Go Dockers!

    1. I am trading in Impey this week. But keeping Phillips.

As a Hawks fan, I would say Impey’s last two scores were inflated due to the ball being around the Hawks half back line a lot against good sides. To my estimations, Phillips will average about the same if not more than Impey from here on out.

  69. Considering parting ways with Jordan Clark who might make 40-50k over the next five weeks if he retains his spot with Menegola and Danger returning. A sideways trade i know, but would appreciate a response to this:

    Out: Clark and Rowe
    In: Impey and Chapman

The above trades can happen just before the Sunday games so will have complete flexibility until then to reconsider defensive options if needed.

  70. TU: Neale and P.Hunter OUT -> Grundy and Impey (via dpp) IN, 115k ITB

TD: Neale and Dow OUT -> Dunkley and Sloane IN, 66k ITB

would love to get Grundy n Impey in, but I just don’t think I can take another week of fielding Dow, especially if it means bringing Dunkley in

  71. Alright folks traded out Caldwell and Neale for a couple of the top rated cash cows so now I have a 950k warchest to use to plug in a few holes. Alright swung DPPS around in order to upgrade Dow to Ridley but with 540k left over and a rather weak forward line I am trying to decide what’s the best move to make.
    Forward line is:
Dusty, Ziebell, Campbell, Warner, Rowe and Scott with Bergman and Fullarton on the bench.
T/U – a poor scoring rookie to Tex/Impey and capitalise on the low BEs for a borderline keeper. If so, which one?
T/D – same rookie for Dunkley (set and forget in the forward line but miss out on the cash grab and probable decent points.

    Thanks legends!

  72. Phillips to Impey?

110k banked and 110k rise over the next 3 weeks. Jarmen should our average Phillips too. Just struggling to part with phillips

  73. Who to field out of these two. I know Jordon has shown better signs but with Sloane out and the Crows coming up against the Roos, is it worth fielding Berry over him?

    T/up – Field Berry

    T/down – Field Jordon

  75. Anyone else having trouble reversing changes.

I made 2 trades earlier and didn’t realise williams was out. It won’t let me reverse so I can adjust it ???

  76. What do we think of Hurn?
    TU: Absolute Bargain
TD: Go for Jiath instead to make money before going to a better premo
