  1. Cincotta will come in but the real question is who goes out.
    Thumbs up Bowes
    Thumbs down Roberts
I still have Chesser who I think is about a month away. Constable who u don’t see playing again unless an injury occurs. Cowan who has probably lost his spot to Cincotta. Davey and Phillips who each will hopefully return for round 8

I’ll need to wait for teams on Thursday to see if I can also finalise:

  4. Decided the 3 trades in necessary.

    Phillipou to Cincotta
    Setterfield to Laird
    Ridley to Ryan.

Only trade I was tempted to save the boost for was Ridley, but the man has to go!

  5. I didn’t catch the saints game. Was Steele back to his best??
537k and playing North he’s every chance to reach his BE if 126 if so.

    Appreciate any feedback.

    T/u – Yes, he’s back!

    T/d – No

    Thanks everyone

    • Sinclair plays for a better side, Great run coming up and a better Bye.

Sicily will be good, but needs to play “Tall” some games, this tends to lower his ceiling at times.

  10. I would love to trade in Tom Stewart but don’t have the necessary funds. What are the thoughts on Wil Powell at $482K? Played 5 games for 3 tons, including a last game of 143. 3 round average of 111.7 and a BE of just 7. Favourable bye as well. The floor bothers me (scores of 71 and 67 this season) but I do like a value pick.

    TU – welcome Wil Powell
TD – find another way to bring in a genuine premo defender

  13. FYI.

I was super peeved with my crap team other night after I had way too many drinks and deleted my team..
In the morning, sober, I realised I over reacted & emailed HS to asked them if it was possible to reinstate my crap team..they did so within 1 hour..the bonus is now I again have Supercoach Premium after it had previously expired after the trial ended..result. Unsure if its another trial but..
    Thanks HS.

Could I please ask the SCT community which trade is more appealing. Byes are not a problem, Thank you.

  17. So with the impending rookie drought (hopefully temporary) in mind, I’m going to triple down this week and get rid of some red dots:

    OUT Cowan, Greene and Roberts
    IN Cincotta, Angwin and Simpson

Will be dependent on named teams, as always. Gives me $270K in the bank to go get Steele etc next week

    • Waste of a boost in my book Chillo

Angwin and Simpson no guarantee not to be Red dots in a few weeks anyway.

I would rather wait to correct rookies at the Byes when we need green dots.

Cowan to Cincotta makes sense. I would hold Greene if you can’t afford to upgrade him. He should go well V my mob Freo. He wont lose too much cash with a 57 BE.

      • Thanks FT. After more thought, I’m keen to get Steele in this week instead despite his BE. I thought he looked back to his best last week and should go big against the Roos.

Greene is actually my first option to trade out this week – the return of Mitch Lewis has completely changed his role and they hardly kicked it to him at all last week. Not to mention that he looked pretty sore after running full pelt into the goal post!

I got him in pre round 6 as I liked his DE and his Bye. Cincotta is a must have.

The other Rookies are pretty risky this week so I would tend to wait for Weddle next week. We had him in our sites preseason, so If he gets a decent run he should start scoring ok.

  20. Two very different options this week

    T/U
Trade out one of Setterfield/Ridley along with Roberts and Ginbey

    T/D
All the fattened cows Cowan/McKenna/Ginbey and keep both Ridley/Setterfield who are still both likely to score more than recruits.

In both instances the trade in is Sic/Angwin/Cincotta. T/U leaves $97.4k, T’D leaves $32.0k Including Roberts in T/D doesnt allow Sicily.

Tingles obviously R1 but the 100k and need to keep pace with upgrades could warrant passing.

Have you considered dropping him to Gawn? Nets you 75k, then you can boost and comfortably do a 1 up 1 down.

Think most of us have some rookies who are spent and about to bleed cash- eg Phillipou, Gibney, etc, but those lucky enough to pick Chandler and Buckley are saving a few trades for them

I picked him up last week hoping he would play back. Unfortunately, he was playing FWD the whole time and taking some ruck contests – he was on like 20 SC at half time, and then picked up a few goals and goal assists to get a respectable score. But I am regretting my decision to add him.

It’s worth remembering that 2 years ago he played in a prelim for the Cats and got badly injured. He then suffered a bad concussion last year.

Has the ability just needs a clean run.

  29. In my eyes, the name of the game right now is reading the CG landscape. There’s just no way we’re filling out our sides with every 600k+ option we love. Honestly, even consecutive moves north of 550k will put a strain on most teams.

Maybe it’s my team in particular given I don’t have Bont, Dawson or Stewart and missed Chandler but I see a cold wind coming.

We were thin on rookies to begin with and there’s really not much coming through rn besides Cincotta. Wagner, Roberts, Constable, Cowan, Davey and now maybe Mitchell all dead.

Just don’t see how anyone’s getting to full premo popping 600k players in every week.

My recent trades ins have been all sub 500k:

    – Day
    – Heeney (had Hawkins until 10 mins before game)

Got eyes on Hewett, Stringer and Steele currently. Plan is to race to full premium, finding a balance between value and viability and then use remaining CG on that last spot for a Bont/Dawson that I don’t own. Would be too much of a strain, I think, to be balling out for them now and risk not having the funds to finish a side.

After replacing Setters and getting a sub 500k premo this week, my remaining non-premo spots will be:

    – D6: McKenna
    – M6-8: Hopper, Ash & Hollands/Cinc
    – CG: 200k from Cowan & Young, 70k from Mitchell assuming he’s dead, only Cinc live

Will definitely need a rookie refresher set of trades soon but the plan, on paper, is:

    – R9: Ash and Hollands into Steele
    – R10: Probably bank Cowan & Young
    – R11: McKenna to whichever DEF premo

By that point it’ll be Hopper M7 and Cinc M8, full premo everywhere else, jump on any good rookies and then throw everything to get Hopper to Bont/Dawson if I can at the byes.

Anyway, maybe my team’s just cooked or I’m a fool but totally think a) reading the CG landscape is the play rn and b) it’s helpful to look at your team this way.

Thought I’d start my day despairing at my team lol. Have a good day, all. Ttyl.

    • I think you are slightly better off than you think you are with only 3 rookies plus Hopper to upgrade. But your dead-ish bench will be a problem, as it is for many sides. I think the dead bench will also cause problems in the bye rounds.
I have 5 rookies on field plus Hopper. (should be only 4 but I gambled and traded Sheezel last week. Was always genius or madness, and madness it proved to be). Now gives me one more hole to fill. I think this fills 4 X 500k premos. So I think Hopper stays and need some luck to fill the last spot. I can see a Hail Mary on a Wines at 400k or something similar.
The only redeeming feature for me is 10 live rookies plus Mitchell (who may or may not be alive). I have kept Chesser and Roberts. I think Chesser will get back. Roberts is a maybe.
I think one big outcome for me was not starting with a loophole rookie. I started Rat at R3. As you well said – cash gen is the game, and rookies started thin and got thinner. We get dead rookies quick enough. Definitely note to self for next year.

Starting choice regrets – Brayshaw and Docherty. Started Sheed instead of Day, but that gave me Dawson instead of Steele, so no complaints.

Trading regrets so far – trading Darcy to Cameron, and trading out Sheezel. Wish I had bought Ryan from Richmond (probably instead of DVR). Would be allowing me to cash in Rat now. Now my choices for Rat are Teakle this week, or wait for D Cam to come back as F6.

Good luck for the rest of the season.

  35. Thinking of going Setters, L Jones, Grundy > Fiorini, Cincotta, S. Darcy

This banks me 250k and will allow me to go up to Steele in 1 trade next week (via Baker/Greene). Think this is ideal because there are no rookies on the horizon so I would hate to 1-down 1-up next week. Fiorini also has the R12 bye which is nice. Somewhat concerned that Fiorini is a trap but he had a massive tear at the end of 2021 so here’s hoping he can replicate that.

Value is the name of the game with no rookies on the horizon. Even if Fiorini only earns 100-150k and I dump him I think that is fine – it would take at least 2 trades to get a rookie up to a premo anyway. Been hunting value all season and it has caught me up since I missed Daicos – Haynes/Tomahawk/Day all coming good. Was also looking at Chayce Jones so anyone with him would be happy.

I guess for every Tomahawk there is a Redman though 🙂 🙂 🙂

Caleb Daniel was used at 44.4% of team centre bounces in Round 7 (Round 6: 6.5%).

Expect a decline when Tom Liberatore returns.

I am not completely adverse to the Daniels selection ( I have had him on my radar) but the Liberatore factor is a worry. Maybe watch this week with both of them playing.

    RUC – English, Marshall (Madden)

    • I think the issue is that there is not really any great answers to your problem. You gave Cincotta already, so there is not really any other great rookie selections to be had.
Whilst ideally you would want to be shedding Philippou, Ginbey and Greene they are at least playing, if their cash gen is possibly dead. And your dead rookies are difficult to shift because they have made no money.
A total left field suggestion therefore is to trade a premo and a dead rookie for two mid pricers. Far from ideal, but maybe a solution. Especially since your premos are all performing. But at a pinch it would be Macrae and Davey for Wines /Clark/ JHF/ Bailey / Rampe if he’s back / Sheed/ Rachele combo.
Either that you go early on Weddle. But we know going early on rookies rarely works out. Or you are going to have to sit on these rookies and wait for others to emerge.
None of these are great answers. I hope other members of the community have a better suggestion. But that’s all I got.

You might have a stab at Fiorini due to his low cost.
At least McKenna, Wilmot and Baker are playing. No value in trading any of the other rookies.

    • Ideally, you neeed to get to focus on getting the worst on field rookies off the ground.
In order, I would be targetting Wilmot,Ginbey and Green. Our issue is the lack of rookies on the other side of that trade. On the positive side, they are all playing.

On the other hand if the rest of your team is already looking a bit shaky, getting the consistency of Titch would really help out. Rankine > Dusty if you really can’t decide

Love the trade though, great options on either side, kudos

      • Thanks for your detailed response. I’m currently last on the ladder with Mills and Rankine. Mills bas been disappointing given his potential. Titch will add the consistency i need. Who knows when Horse will move the magnets around. I’m losing patience.

Re Rankine v Dusty: Dusty has the eagles this week, so I’m optimistic. Rankine certainly more consistent this year.

Genuinely a tricky decision, one i need to nail to climb up the draft ladder!

  46. I need to get rid of Liam Jones asap.. There’s a spike in Wil Powell’s Kick-ins over last 2 weeks following Touk’s injury- Suggesting Weller is playing higher up the field and thus, Weller’s kick-ins have dropped.

TU: Powell- risk it for high ceiling + low BE and cash
TD: Ziebell- injury cloud but reliable scorer.
    Comment: Titch in mids.

Top one pros are getting rid of setters
Bottom pro is having an extra bench option but having to field setters and possibly lose money

    T/U Pitto
    T/D Teakle

    Thx in advance.

  49. Going to be bringing in one Def premo this week, these two guys are about the same price :

    T/D – Sicily
    T/U – Sinclair

I think I lean Sicily slightly but Sinclair might be better for my bye structure

    TU – Trade in Day
    TD – Trade in Cogs

Was trying to find a way of getting them both this week, plus Cincotta, but fall $1,000 short….

Traded Grundy last week with the plan to get Gawn this week but i’m not convinced.

Is Marc Pittonet a legit option at 357k

T/U – Yes, he’s cheap and will make money gives more time to decide between English, Darcy & Gawn.

T/D – No, waste of a trade just roll with S. Ryan for now and bring in English or Darcy within the next few weeks.

    Thanks everyone.

  53. Unfortunately I’m a Grundy owner.. for me it’s bank 75k and grab gawn or straight swap to a witts who before the injury everyone predicted would finish top 2-3 in the ruckline.

    TU: gawn
    TD: witts

Eventually I want Darcy Cameron at F6 and could probably swing max and DCam between lines when they both have DPP for injury cover.

Not sure between Teakle and soldo to get soldo have to offload Greene rather than Davey who isn’t rly getting game but I think Greene may have reached his end anyway?

MID: Neale, Laird, Walsh, Green, Coniglio, Hopper, Ashcroft, Baker, (Roberts, Gillbee, Cincotta)
    RUCK: English, Marshall (Madden)
FWD: Taranto, Dunkley, Rozee, Ziebell, Sheezel, van Rooyen, (Phillipou, Drury)

I’m trying to figure out downgrade targets for Phillipou & Cowan but nothing seems clear.
I’m hoping that Constable gets another run or Dylan Williams starts in the backline again for Port and not a sub or Sam Simpson becomes a valid option.

Any suggestions would be awesome! :))

    • Yeah, Grundy about to get baked by Tingles.

Either grab him or go Gawn, bank the 75k and try to allocate that value real nicely as a way to match Tingles.

  64. Greene, Setterfield and Hopper for Oliver, Cincotta and Day locked in for me right now.

Tossing up whether to use my third boost and get Hopper up to Day and swing him into defence later, or hold Hopper for another weak with Weagles coming up.
Also I know Oliver is a must at seasons end, but should I be looking for more value now in someone like Steele instead..? Although Oliver probably won’t get much cheaper.

  66. Havent loved the idea of grundy to soldo but if Dcam is back in 3-4 weeks and soldo can get to 380-400k it would only be a simple rookie downgrade of 100k to make that move
Means i can get grundy to oliver this week and then essentially hopefully trade soldo to Dcam as my R2 in a few weeks. Good or bad idea?

  70. Going against the grain this week but I think I gotta.
Ranked 1.7k, 22 trades left after these.

    OUT: Setterfield, Roberts
    IN: Fiorini, Cincotta

Bank 150k with these trades. Leaves me with 260k. Fiorini solid scorer when given the chance in the MIDS. Has a BE of 12 and with Miller out, I fully expect him to score 80+ most weeks and rise to hopefully 450k odd.

Next week will be Steele in for sure. Close eye on both Hopper and George Hewett this week, in a potential trade swap.

Have got a few trades on hand so I’m happy burning through some if it means I can generate cash and some stepping stones.

  71. TU: Get rid of Phillipou and only be able to bring in Steele
TD: Get rid of Ginbey (but be stuck with Phillipou) and bring in Taranto

Ginbey is a lot less likely to lose a lot of money and is a rookie that’s getting games. Phillipou is going to potentially end up back where he started, but I feel like this might be one of the last chances for Taranto. Not keen on using boost to do both.

  72. Help needed please: am i better off to trade out cash cows who seem to have peaked but are at least getting a gig (the likes of F Greene, Phillipou, Ginbey) or to trade out cows who aren’t playing but who MAY return to the paddock (the likes of Roberts, Phillips, Constable)

TU: get rid of fattened cash cows

TD: get rid of non points scoring cows

    thanks in advance

    • It depends, BM.

Obviously points on field and the strength of your team is the first thing, so 100% trade the necessary rookies to finance upgrades. All the ones you mentioned have, yes, peaked and are good to cull.

That said, if you can make the same upgrade happen by getting rid of a dead rookie over a live one then absolutely do that.

  73. I have finally decided on these trades:

Out – Bowes- Cowan – Roberts
    IN – Steele – Cincotta – Drury

Yes I am going early on Drury for a number of reasons. The kid is a ‘goer’ and gets involved. I reckon he has greater job security than Angwin as well.

These trades ( and any future ones) are also made with an eye to the byes and trying to make sure I have enough ‘warm bodies’ to get me thru.
