1st plan was to get Laird for R7 but the chance of a late out, I wasn’t risking it. 2nd plan had me doing 3 trades to bring in Day, but didn’t want to use a boost unless getting in a premium. So did a double downgrade instead.
Happy to move Gulden & Taranto back to the fwd line at some stage, but forward rookies have been doing ok. Will be trading in Cincotta – probably move Constable to mid bench and trade out Roberts? Will wait and see which rookies are ready to trade out, but definitely want an upgrade this week.
Suggestions more than welcome and appreciated as always.

    1. I think you can continue waiting on Laird, until you see back to back 130s from him.

Ditching Roberts is an option and potentially also McKenna/Jones/Van Rooyen. That should give you a fair bit of cash and hopefully you can target Dawson or another premo mid by moving Taranto into JVR’s spot.

    1. I’d be value chasing and skipping certified premiums just due to not wanting to field some of those rookies.

      Something along the lines of:

      Greene, Ginbey, Phillipou out

Hayden Young / George Hewett, Stringer / Soldo, Angwin in

I’m bullish on the above players, but I can understand being skeptical. I think a traditional 2 down 1 up doesn’t work this week considering the rookies are trash. Could wait and see who’s debuting, and try angle for Steele. But regardless, I 100% think you need to boost this week.

    1. Hey Robbo

It really helps if you give us your bank balance and trades left as this really helps us give advice regarding your team.

On face value Phillipou and Greene probably need to go unless Pou is rested then he can stay for a week. Wait for team sheets as a double down maybe difficult this week. Cincotta will hold and you should get him in. If Angwin is named with both Lloyd and Ward he should be ok to downgrade too.

Love the Setters to Clarry trade if you can make it work, otherwise Steele could be a cheaper option.

      Best of luck.

You could look at a Steele type and perhaps even use the extra cash to sideways Brayshaw unless you think he may come good. you have the trades and boost to do it.

Ginbey should be ok to hold for another week.

You need Cincotta so I would go Greene to Cincotta, swinging Sheezel forward for now. Then go Pou to a Premo mid. This should leave enough cash for a double upgrade next week.

Tough situation this week as you already own Cincotta.

Your probably forced to downgrade Bobby hill to a Angwin type if named. Then I would definitely target a cheap midfielder and move Taranto forward. You will only have ~$510K to spend so you may need to take a punt on a Chad Warner type.
You only really have 2 Premo mids so going a Warner as a future M8 should be ok.

      Best of luck.

    1. Hey Steve, I’d be spending that money, boosting, you have the trades left.

      Out Ginbey, michalaney and Setterfield.

      Ginbey – Sinclair/ Sicily
Setterfield – Any premo mid you like
Michalaney ? whatever is left for another defender. Maybe Johannisen, if enough cash? Or Simpson. moving Sheez down back. If you do that you might be able to do another premo forward upgrade next week.

With this team Cincotta should be your D6/D7 (loop with Wilmot), Baker your M8, Phillipou forward to loop with Greene.

You need to check how this looks in the byes.

      1. Cheers mate! Don’t mind it at all, if I bring in Sinclair + Walsh for ginbey and setters. 21. Hey Scott

You already have Cincotta, so downgrading this week could be risky.

I would look at Ginbey straight up to best available defender. Day is the obvious one. I have also included a few cheaper options in my Rare gems thread this week so check that out the it comes out.

Also try not to go too early on rookies if there’s guys on the bubble available, as it can get you in situations like this, where you just don’t have anyone decent to downgrade too. Best to wait for max data before choosing rookies.

    Best of luck.

      1. Hey Jack.

Yeah I would use the boost and get in those 2 value Premo’s.

For team balance I would probably look at a Mid and a Forward though.
Steele / Cerra and one of Cogs / Butters / Rozee or even Gulden at his cheaper price could work.

The other option would be to get in Steele and Day and move Ziebell forward again.

You really want to work it to get your worst rookies off field if possible.

        Best of luck.

He’s potentially a top 6 forward this year right?

    2

    0
    1. Yeah Cogs still a solid forward option.

He’s still well priced. The downside is his round 15 bye ( shared with most other forward options ) and his rather hard upcoming draw. he scored well last week even with Greene and Perryman back. I still prefer him to a Butters type.

    1. Grundy -> Gawn (81k)

Problem then is, as FT mentioned, that you’ve already taken Cinc as a downgrade. Simpson there but at that elevated price, so grabbing him for say Wilmot only gives you a 180k~ bank.

You could do Wilmot -> Simpson and then throw that into Greene -> Stringer but that’s a big call and one you really had to have given your own consideration to/already rated.

Otherwise, I would honestly look at a dead rookie to Simpson. It puts you off the pace of upgrading but a rookie refresher like that will go a long way, Jack.

      Up to you, Jack.

      0

      0
  25. Hey Jack.

Tough situation here. You already have Cincotta so downgrading could be risky. 5 dead rookies and Madden makes for pretty scary future cash growth as well. Constable, Chesser and Roberts were bad luck but you can avoid getting in guys like Wagner before there price changes. If by some reason Cincotta missed you would be totally screwed, so try not to get in rookies unless they are “on the Bubble”

The upside is you have a heap of trades so it maybe worth taking a risk and getting rid of a dead rookie and picking up Angwin for Roberts and hope he can make some cash for you. You could consider Simpson but you actually need to find cash to get him in.

I would consider swapping Grundy out for Gawn or a cheaper Ruck as this will at least free up some cash to potentially upgrade Greene or Wilmot next week.

Best of luck and I hope for your sake a few of your bench rookies get a game soon.

van Rooyen -> Steele (via Taranto DPP; 253k)

That then makes your FWD line full premo, with Sheezel F6, and then your other rookie fields in McKenna, Cinc, Ash and Hollands are super servicable.

    – Setters to Steele

    21 trades left / 3 boosts / 148k ITB

Def: Dawson, Daicos, Day, Ridley, Sheezel, Cincotta (Wilmot, Mitchell

Mid: Laird, LDU, Green, Steele, Hopper, Ashcroft, Callaghan, Baker (Roberts, Davey, Constable)

    Ruck: Grundy, Marshall (Madden)

Fwd: Taranto, Dunks, Rozee, Cogs, Gulden, JVR (Greene, Long)

Do I need to boost and do another trade this week? What should my next priority be?

    1. Nope. That’s great, RQ.

If you’re bench was super dead, I could suggest a 3rd freshener trade of bringing in Simpson but you’re looking pretty good – real good.

I mean, fob off Ridley maybe? Stewart covers him by a LOT but it does blow your bank – which will be key given the CG landscape. Hmm.

Nice to have you on board. You have a huge amount of trades left so Boosting this week makes sense.

These trades certainly help your team, I’m just not sure you need 2 defenders at the moment. I would start by trying to get the least scoring rookies off the field as soon as possible. Moving Roberts to the midfield and playing JHF forward will allow you to bench Mitchell and put the more reliable Baker on field.

You are a little light on Captains options so would prioritise getting in Oliver if you can make it work.

Bowes and Jones to Cincotta and one of Sicily or Sinclair ( Sinclair has the better Bye. ) Then getting Setterfield up to Oliver.

Saving cash now is good in principle but you have the trades and Boosts to up grade next week even with a low bank. Getting points on field now should be a priority.

Playerts like JHF, Curnow and Bolten are fine for now as they are keeping rookies off field. I would have a plan to flip them at their Byes to player more likely to finish top of their lines.

I hope this helps somewhat . Best of luck.

  31. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Def: Dawson, daicos, Stewart, day McKenna, wilmot (Cowan, s Mitchell)

Mid: bony, Oliver, laird, Taranto, cogs, gulden, Ashcroft, ginbey (Davey, chesser, constanble)

    Ruck: English, Mansell (Maddern)

Fwds: Dunkley, Rozee, ziebel, sheezel, f Greene,
    Jvr (roberts,Sturt)

I have 60k in the bank. 21 trades left. Only one boost left.

Cincotta an obvious in and would like Steele in as well or Sinclair open to other options. To do that I really can only trade our ginbey and McKenna.

I could also simply trade out one of the dead rookies for cincotta, save a trade bank some cash and look to upgrade next week.

    Thoughts? Ideas?

  32. Hey Jarrad

I would definitely look at keeping McKenna with Rich likely missing for the next few weeks.

Trading out Ginbey and Fergus Greene should net you around $520K

Defender options are pretty thin as you have Day already. Docherty is cheap at $509K but can you trust him coming back from injury ?

Midfielders Warner is probably the only one I’d consider. The role is there but he has been pretty unreliable this year. he does have a great Bye though.

If you don’t likelthese options I would probably downgrade a dead rookie as you said and wait for next week. Chesser should be back soon so I would probably go Cowan as you at least bank $100K and you can play Cincotta over Wilmot at D6

    cheers best of luck.

  33. Dawson, Naicos, Sicily, MacKennna, Wilmot, Cincotta (Cowan, constable)

Clarry, Bonts, Neale, Laird, Walsh, Taranto, Cogs, ashcroft (baker, phillips, mckenzie)

    Grundy, RoMo (Ryan)

Dunkley, Sheezel, Chandler, Williams, Mitchell, Simpson (greene, JVR)

$186,500 in bank, 20 trades left and 2 boosts

one concern is grundy and forwards, although i have down a bit of chipping and changing to cover losses

    1. Is this your side before or after trades this week?

If after that means you went early on Cinc and Simpson last week. Hmm. FWD line your problem. Fielding too many rookies.

      Baker -> Angwin (336k)
      Greene -> Gulden (157k)

That 157k is then not enough to grab another premo, so either save it for next week or take the opportunity to make Grundy Tingles.

Could also go the other way and make him Gawn.

Strong side, Jodie, but that FWD line needs work. Good luck.

  34. Agree mostly with GD here.

I would hold Baker and trade out Mckensie though. Play Baker has a low BE and is still making cash. You could also play him on field and Move a Cogs type forward.

Those the trades should work though.

  35. Tough decision to be made. Would appreciate some assistance. Ranked just over 2500 overall so probably need to keep pushing.

TU – Trade Phillipou and F Greene for Cincotta and Simpson. Keep Steele on ice for next week.
TD – Trade Phillipou, Greene and Wilmot for Cincotta, Angwin (100 short for Simpson) and Steele (using a boost) with the potential for Steele to go big against the Kangas.

Make more $$$ with Simpson or no guts no glory?

    Thanks Legends.
