  1. Interested to hear what people think will happen with Xerri. He’s been a mainstay in my team – but I can imagine the AFL making a statement and giving him a fair few weeks on the couch. You can’t be putting your blood on someone’s face.

      • Agree. He started poor but got better as Melbourne came home good.

Great Fantasy score this week and hopefully a nice spike SC just around the corner

  2. I usually rely on the crowd to tell me who the must-haves are, but as some early reactions:

I’d imagine you’d have to be considering Jack Lukosius this week? BE of -62, plays Richmond…

Oscar Steene might be a nice little downgrade from McAndrew after this week if he keeps up his scoring.

I’ll need to get in Jack Watkins, although happy I faded for Duursma last week.

Hugh Bond as a defender looks like a sensible bubble pick.

    Any others?

  3. Feel like I may need to go early on one of the rookies this week as next week I am anticipating using a boost.

Which is the best rookie to grab early?

TU: Do the sensible thing and give him another week and look to pivot to one of the defenders off their bye next week

Bruhn, Riccardi, M.Reid > Bont, Baz and Rogers on the bubble

  6. Xerri Jackson and mcandrew at flex is my current line up

Xerri to bont is my set trade
    Doing this by going –
    Xerri to steene
    Parish to bont
    Left with 344k

My 3rd trade and I know there is still meat on the bone with bruhn but I could go
T/U bruhn to Baz or Holmes
T/D save the trade and the boost having already used 1 and next week go Windsor to nas or ash

  7. On your first comment it doesn’t have to be Phillipou it could be dovaston on my bench

I’ll only keep Xerri if it’s 2 or less anymore than that it’s a trade. Losing too many premium points on field. If it is 2 weeks there is no way I will be able to get Bont

The bombers have the dogs this week and they will take a lot of the sc points. Doubt parish even gets his breakeven then they have Gc in a few weeks most likely the same thing he won’t score many. Hopefully for everyone who stays with him he gives some good scores out but with the bombers being as bad as they are I’m out of this pick.

My thinking is we may have a decent crop of rookies next week on the bubble. I am already planning on upgrading the likes of Parish and possibly Houston. Feel like some of us may need to consider grabbing one of the rookies early?

    Thoughts appreciated!

      • So what happens next week if I have to deal with Houston, Windsor and Parish plus look at bringing in a few bubble boys that all look good? Sometimes you have to take a risk in this game to get ahead. Not to mention if there’s any more carnage that comes our way.

        • you wouldn’t be trading out Houston after one bad score?

Windsor is starting to look ok. had 96 fantasy points, with 24 disposals. It was his 50% efficiency that hurt his SC score. he should be ok.

Parish is struggling, along with the whole team. there next 7 games are not good. he probably needs to go if you need cash

            • Nick – if there is some good rooks coming the next week, then I don’t mind going 1 week early every now & then

But it is obviously risky due to the player getting injured or dropped – and then you get no price increase

Having said that, we could have 3 to 4 x good rooks next week (including Murdock from WCE if he returns from injury)

So I wouldn’t be against you taking someone like Oscar Steene ($119,900 RUCK / FWD) 1 week early

Worst case, you can swap him to the ruck bench when McAndrew is maxxed out in price – and then trade McAndrew for a premium FWD or MID

Sharp to Murdock (if he’s named)
    Trac to Bailey

I will then have plenty of cash in the war chest to upgrade in the coming weeks.

    • he isn’t the worst. but like most key forwards they will be up and down. for about the same price you can get darcy.

key forwards are like rucks, you can tell who their match up will be against and can plan for it.

Treacy has had Melbourne and Richmods last two, they don’t have a massive key defender like other teams.

Treacy will always get the opponents best tall defender.

His next games are against Adelaide (Worrell or Butts), Collingwood (Moore/Frampton), Eagles (Ginbey), Carlton (Weitering), Dogs (Lobb), Hawks (Battle or Barrass)

except for Eagles, the rest look tough, inlcluding Wilkie and Andrews in weeks 11 & 12.

I’d be looking at Darcy in a few weeks when he has dropped in price

I think Cameron will Ruck most games, but I think McCrae will use Steene when it suits.

Cameron needs to go, because every 3-4 weeks I see him playing predominantly forward.

    • If you are playing for leagues & have McAndrew as cover at R3, and as long as Adelaide don’t name Riley O’Brien as a second ruck this week, then you can definitely hold Xerri for the 3 weeks

Especially this week as it is still best 18 scorers

This is what I am doing, and think the big fella will come back revved up.

Just a shame that he is missing so many juicy match ups!!

However, if you are going for overall ranking & you have no McAndrew as cover for the next weeks, then sadly it is a trade IMO

    • this is a tough one, and it depends on what you will do with him.

if its a downgrade to a rookie to bank cash and secure good cash generation its a trade. This time of year it’s all about cash generation, and with the last week of best 18 it won’t hurt having an extra rookie instead of Parish (won’t be much of a point difference), its a trade. grab a rookie on the bubble and bank cash for an upgrade next week.

if it is (like me) have $400k in bank after trading out Rozee and Patracca last week, so its an easy upgrade to a premium, its a trade. Best 18 this week and having another premium score included is gold in the bye rounds. the only thing to consider, if we wait a week and see if there is a premium that might be cheaper, but at 3 weeks into the year, there aren’t any obvious bargins to be getting, yet.

I’m in the Trade camp at the moment.

Parish to Bont (even though i’m not happy with paying $700k for him)

Out – Xerri, Parish, In – Bont and Holmes
    or
Out – Xerri, Parish, Phillipou, In – Bont, Stewart, Lukosius.

my rooks are pretty much perfect so cash gen is there, don’t know if it’s worth using a boost but lukosius makes 100k in 2-3 weeks.

I know it’s still early days but I’m thinking Pou was a mistake…
Had to downgrade Petracca already so FWD is fairly bare bones in terms of premo/mid pricers with just Sheezel and Sam Flanders.
Lukosius brings a better average and probably a good price rise also along with Scerri on the bubble.
Todd Marshall won’t be playing this week and maybe next week also as of about 2 hours ago:
    https://www.portadelaidefc.com.au/news/1985431/reeves-on-team-review-injuries-and-player-focus

This should leave me with about 276k for next week to maybe upgrade Blakiston to Tom Stewart. I won’t be able to afford a Sinclair or Ash etc right now.

This would be my second boost for the year already.

Or just the one trade of Parish to T.Miller due to his DPP status to bolster the forward line?

I have Anderson, Sheezel and Butters already so it’ll mean 4 premiums on the round 12 bye (with plans to get Petracca in after the bye).

If I get Bont I have to sacrifice Pou early for a questionable JS of Scerri and I’ll have 5 premos or in the round 16 bye.

TU. Ruck Stability. Routine Xerri swap to Gawn or English and then Parish to a Mid premo as I have a 297k war chest. Already have Bont, Butters, Naicos and Richards so would probably be Smith or Serong.

    Alternatively

TD. Go all in mids. McAndrew from Flex to R2. Then get Smith and Serong in mids. Cook to Flex. Problem with this is I then have 2 good rookie non playing mids and weak R2 and ZZ as R3.

Currently leaning towards Mids option only cause it feels more exciting. Bye this week and then hopefully some fattening of rooks and DPP in a few weeks. Will then strengthen ruck once McAndrew fattens.

Is it purely a value play due to the high BEs of the the premium rucks at the moment? Do people want to bring Xerri back after his suspension and a price drop with the low score in his system?

    • at that price you are going to pick a year long keeper. Who do you like?

First i’d be looking at the current BE of the top guys, if any are about to go up in price that you like, get them now and save some money.

      Smith BE 82
      Clark (def) BE 84
      Stewart (def) BE 59

Smith is probably the only one there i’d look at

Then i’d be looking at the premiums with very high BE, and thinking you could hold off a few weeks and get them cheap

      McCluggage BE 250
      Rankine BE 207
      Richards BE 168
      Dawson BE 167
      Heeney BE 163
      Neale BE 146
      Merrett BE 147
      Dunkley BE 146

      • in the midfield, he wasn’t ever going to be a keeper, always there as a player to make some cash. With his last two scores of 67, his cash has stalled, and it won’t be happening for a few weeks, even if he has a couple of nice scores now. we were hoping he could have had a few 95+ scores to follow the one in round 1 and quickly get to $400+

i would normally hold him, but he is my ticket to Bont this week.

  45. Hey guys,
    I’m in a dilema!
Seriously considering going the following 2 Trades:
TDK -> Reeves (I need to make this trade to unlock $ for the 2nd trade)
    Parish -> BONT

    TU or TD?

    • it looks like the Hawks 2-ruck strategy is working, so i can see it continuing, meaning Reeves JS is ok.

the only problem it is an even 50/50 split with Meek, and neither of them are ‘resting’ as a forward.

their hitouts are almost identical, but Reeves is killing it with the Hit outs to advantage with his extra height.

as long as you know the risks i don’t mind it. will easy make $100k cash

  46. So i’m going against the grain this week and giving Parish another week. Instead my first trade will be: Carroll > Bont.

Given Sharp is likely to return this week, should I hold him for one more week or trade to someone like Scerri/Lukosius/Steene before they go up in value?

    TU: Hold
    TD: Trade

  47. Does news of ROB possibly returning to the crows spook Xerri traders who were going to grab a Flex midfielder instead of a premium ruck? Taking into account that I’ve already got Gawn, and Bont will come in anyway:

TU: No, have faith in McAndrew, grab Holmes while he’s cheap
TD: Grab a premium ruck for safety, despite their high BEs

  48. Regretably (and in a Rush) I had traded Gulden to Rankine a couple of weeks ago..

I’m now facing a $50k haircut after this week, am I better off trading out Rankine now to either Darcy, Bolton, Pickett or try and go down to Rochelle to unlock some $

Should I trade Rankine now? (and potetially get him again once he bottoms out?)

    • I’ve been tossing up bringing in Darcy this week. He had a slow start to year (injury effected) but he looks fit now and has the dons this week (kicks minimum 50 snags!). Hoping that he uses that as a platform to consistently score well in a pretty strong dogs team for the rest of the season… and honestly, the other fwd options atm are pretty ordinary

    • I’m in the same boat mate, he was my Gulden fix too (oops!). After a week of thought, I’m going to hold. Mainly because I must get a forward if I trade him and I’m not liking either of the top options in Kozzie (low floor) or Rachele (probably splits CBAs with Rankine anyway). Even if he loses 100k, I think I’d rather hold and hope for a good game or two before a “sideways” to Petracca. If he comes good then I have a bonus forward and have saved a couple trades.

  49. Last week’s trades were Rozee, Petracca & Sharp → Houston, Holmes & Cook
Current team before trades this week:
Def – Sinclair, Houston, McCarthy, Windsor, Jaques, Serong (Fonti, Sellwood)
Mid – Bont, Butters, Daicos, Holmes, Parish, Bruhn, Smith, Blamires (Cook, Grji, Carroll)
    Ruc – Jackson, English (McAndrew)
Fwd – Sheezel, Flanders, Budarick, Phillipou, Dovaston, Lombard (Marshall, Robertson)
    Flex – Lindsay
    $323,500 ITB (4 Boosts)

Thinking of stand pat this week maybe downgrading Parish (not sure who to). Any thoughts or trade ideas would be appreciated

  50. Is trading Windsor to Reeves worth using a trade (still have 36)

No Xerri, Parish, Murdock or premos this week playing (Flanders, Pou, font)

Hoping to get one of Whitfield, Ash, Nas, Sinclair next two week.
