  1. At this rate Coniglio is going to do a Ziebel from 2021.
8 touches by mid first term and looking great. Will be a forward keeper by year end if injury free!

  2. Lipinski (ankle) out for rest of the game.

Nathan Kreuger out for the game after head clash and likely review after bumping.

  3. With rookies dropping like flies, non uber mids might be needed to spread the money further.

    Ward ??

    1. Probably don’t want to forget Kennedy from the Blues in that kind of thinking either Wighty. If he’s going to go 30 disposals, take hangers inside 50 and kick goals – he could pump out some good numbers.

On Kennedy . He is probably the most likely to make way ( play more forward.) when Walsh returns. He will probably start well, but I’m not sure he sustain it with a full Blues midfield. They tried Cripps forward last year and it didn’t work. Of all the Carlton mids Kennedy has the best forward craft. I see him moving forward when Walsh is back. As a Mid only I would avoid.

        1. Agree FT, but have we even heard a prognosis on Walsh’s injury? They can take up to 12+ weeks…I wouldn’t be holding your breath on it.

Like Wighty says, I think we’re all going to end up with one or two midprice/fallen premium mids, so isn’t it prudent to maximise points until you can upgrade to a premium, as opposed to trying to find a keeper at 450-550k?

          1. Ha ha don’t listen to Wighty 😉

You don’t have to start a Midpriced anyone … especially in the midfield.

Berry looks to be the exception to this rule. He has current form and scoring history. He will also certainly make cash.

Its still possible to make a perfectly good 12 Premo team with a couple of Midpricers at D4 /M4or 5 and F4

I still believe everyone you start over ~$350k needs to stay to the end.

If you need more $$ for rookies you may need to downgrade a Premo here and there.

            1. Looking forward to seeing your side in that case FT I’m struggling to find a viable guns and rookies structure that looks like your description.

  4. This might not be the forum for this Q, but since people are actually here I thought it couldn’t hurt to ask.
If a player already has a DPP (say M/F) but plays mostly def, do they become TPP? or do they loose one of their starting positions? or is it no change at all?

    1

    6
    1. TC

You can only have DPP not TPP 😉

They will never take a position away , only add to a single position player.

      7

    2. There are no TPPs, and a player can not lose DPP status.

And I think (correct me if I’m wrong) players who are already DPPs can not change status, e.g. a player who is def/mid can not change to mid/fwd.

      1. I figured this must be the case, but was looking through the rules and couldn’t find it.
I’ve been looking at Ralphsmith (M/F) who will be playing Def and was wondering what might happen come round 6

      2. Just a thought……(stop laughing Wighty)…..why don’t they just name one position per player until after the practice, oops, sorry, preseason games, and then DPP before 1st round?? Wouldn’t that be more logical???

        4
          1. Wouldn’t we still be making changes like we do now anyway?….
Could be why I’m a big fan of Tech. League….

  5. Probably doesn’t need to be said and he’s already a lock, but holy f*ck Daicos is a gun!

Such precision, deftness and composure. Impressive.

    1. Afternoon GD.

Cogs looks great as well. looks like Ward will play back this year. Taranto Forward as we expected..

Daicos might end up a handy D6 if he can keep up this form. 😉

How good is Jelly to watch. Theres no one in the Pies side that can run with him. ( maybe Crisp ) He could get 50 at this rate. I need to stay strong…

Whitfield everywhere again. He’s a lock for me at D3.

      1. Hey, FT.

Yeah, GWS doing less flicking around and playing a more direct, corridor style but Whitfield still with 14 touches at HT.

I’m not a fan of him due to durability but could see myself dropping to him if I need the coin before R1 starts.

Point of interest on Preuss. Thought it’d be Flynn & Briggs 1-2 vs Preuss as solo ruck. Briggs out of action and they’ve rolled with Preuss deep as 2nd ruck.

Agree on the other counts, yep.

    2. Also worth noting how much playing with his brother seems to have spurred the other one on too.

Dunno if they just love playing together or are actively competing to see which brother will be the best

  6. Daniel Lloyd (concussion) and Conor Stone (hamstring) have been ruled out for the remainder of the match.

  7. Half Time Supercoach scores:
    Josh kelly 85
    Nick Daicos 63
    Brodie Grundy 63
    Scott Pendlebury 59
    Jack Crisp 55
    Stephen Coniglio 53
    Lachie Whitfield 52
    Braydon Preuss 51

          1. I would want a playing R3.

If it works you’re a genius. If it fails, who do you trade him to ?

            1. i’ve got taranto at F2, but i liked the look of English and if he becomes my F2 it gives cover for Preuss

          2. Wait til the real stuff starts and Preuss gives 5 free kicks away in the first half of round 1. Then the memories, if anybody has any, of him living in the VFL 3 years ago come flooding back. Will be shocked if he matures into a topline ruckman.

            1

            1
  8. Pendlebury & Daicos both half back flankers and so clean. Both will be DPP mid/def in 6 weeks time… hmmmm. May need to consider this going forward.

    1. If he really pops of rds 1/2, then he’s a corrective trade r3 for the cash….much like Tex last year. Might downgrade Nicnat to Marshall, and put Preuss on the bench with the cash.

      3

      1
      1. Much harder to do corrective trades in the ruck, especially when most people go set and forget.

Kind of means a double corrective trade, unless your R3 is a dpp (eg Comben) and you are corrective trading out a forward.

        2

        2
        1. I was meaning starting Preuss at R3 with a dpp r/f up forward. Grundy R1.
But it all depends on what rookies are available overall.

  9. Final Supercoach scores

    Josh Kelly 161
    Brodie Grundy 117
    Stephen Coniglio 112
    Jack Crisp 111
    Tim Taranto 108
    Braydon Preuss 102
    Scott Pendlebury 101
    Nick Daicos 100
    Lachie Whitfield 96

      1. Flynn won 33% of his and Preuss won 52% of his Preuss also had 3 times as many marks and tackles as Flynn. If giants want first use Preuss will be #1

  10. I hate the Giants. If you don’t start Kelly or Whitfield they’ll go nuts and score 200 in the first month of the season. If you do, they’ll get injured in Rd 1.

  11. I want to take full credit for Pruess’s form after riding him all preseason .

I think the big fella wants to prove me wrong. 😉

    I still couldn’t trust him at R2.

How the hell can we get him at R3 with all these pricey rookies ?

    1. It’s tricky, FT.

He was playing deep early and wasn’t doing much, couple of dropped marks and whatever, but really put together a strong afternoon from Q1 onwards.

12 touches, 9 contested, 14 HOs in a 2-1 split with Flynn as #1, 6 marks, a few strong overhead, decent TOG (78%) and applied great body to Grundy.

His body also looked surprisingly good. No strapping, in good shape and moved across the ground really well – can’t believe I’m saying any of this.

Now, his scoring stream today won’t be a consistent one (contested marks, CPs as a ruck in a loose game) and he’ll still likely be subject to the ruck roulette when Briggs reappears but worth susing out what they say about him in the next week.

      1. Agree on all fronts.

Need to know how they structure up with Hogan back as well.

I understand him starting slow as he’s missed a heap of footy. He did look pretty good after Qtr time. Scary really. With a heap of pressure on cash for rookies. I few will start to think about Pruess at R2.. Its going to make things very interesting.

Look forward to watching Brodie dominate ( your midfield is devastated ) and make me look the fool later tonight. Better to get it over and done with in one go. What if I end up starting Pruess and Brodie ?

        Face slap !

        1. i’ve always like starting a risky R2, even had Lobbe a few years ago (might have been one year i started set and forget)

my theory is it is hard to know who the best two rucks will be, and starting 2 premiums is your entire ruck line, no room for wriggle, like starting 8 midfield premiums.

They only need to get to round 6 to 10 and make some cash and pick up the premium at hopefully a cheaper price.

this theory works well until Flynn gets rested early like last year.

If Preuss looks set to play the first 10 games, he only has to score 60 as a min, but a few 80+ and he is gold.

          hasn’t left my team

    2. It’ll take some serious plums FT but it’s crossed my mind too start English at F2/3 after his looked pretty handy this entire pre season (scores of 115 and 93) and JHayes at R3 For the DPP swing if Preuss goes down before his fattened up for us too sell. I don’t know if I could actually do it but I could see this potentially working out.

What does Preuss need too AVG to get too roughly 500k which is what I’d be hoping for at a minimum of I wanted to jump to a gawn or Darcy at the byes.

      1. Mav.

He will score if fit. It’s more about how and when they use him.
He started forward but Hogan was missing. Will they play both Flynn and Pruess or rotate them based on opposition, like they did with Mummy last year. Briggs is still in the mix as well. He has put his hand ups tonight so needs to be considered.

        1

        0
      2. Preuss getting to 500k is a 300k increase. he’s rookie priced so if he adds 150k he has done his job and he could easily do that by round 6.
I don’t see any greater injury risk with him than there is with Dunkley, Whitfield, Heeney or Butters.
Preuss is looking like the smart gutsy move as R2 with so few low priced rookies available, similar to the much ridiculed Hickey selection this time last year.
Dixon or Hayes at R3 and English forward in case Grundy breaks down gives a few hundred thou’ to get decent bench cover in case of covid
