  1. Couple of watches for me here.
The three rookies Goater, DStephens & Roberts. Disappointed too not see Gould feature today. also watching Heeney for that midfield role and CBAs.

Interesting too see mills named I wonder if he’ll be on managed minutes. Hopefully not id like to see him play to get a true idea of the Sydney midfield

    1. I believe his fallen down the pecking order behind xerri and CCJ. I wouldn’t be banking on him to play R1

  3. Heeney played this quarter FWD. No Franklin, Papley or Ladhams. Only 1 CBA so far as well.

Stephens found a fair amount of it but game has been pretty soft.

    1. If heeneys not injected into that midfield asap for the remainder of the match I’m not touching him with a 10ft pole and he will be exiled from my team.

    1. Do you have a source for this?

I heard a vague reference that he went for scans for his shoulder but unable to verify?

Would be interested for any clarification?

      1. The best source I’ve encountered is that Treloar was sent for scans on a pre-existing shoulder injury (Source: The Salty Bulldog – Twitter page)

    2. Dusty ?

Ha ha.. Just jokes… Everyone nervous about Heeney . Horse isn’t even coaching. Swans know their game. All those Forwards missing. There just giving the kids a go in the middle , JPK back. Heeney has trained as a Mid all Preseason. Mills probably won’t play a full match. Heeney should see some mid time in the 2nd Half. I’m still on the Heeney train.

      1. I am looking for a reason to not have him – I really don’t want injury-prone players this season!

        1. I hear you Thommo.

All the forwards come with issues. Its him, Dusty or DeGoey ???

Or back a Breakout in Thomas or Bailey.

          I’ll take Heeney thanks..

  4. I have been weary of Heeney (past owner). GD’s preseason write up on him was excellent, however, mid field minutes will be key for consistent high scoring.

Yes, Papley and Franklin not playing but Heeney is Horse’s go to man to push deep forward. He will snag a few goals which will help his scoring but won’t rack up big weekly scores playing a split role. Just because he trained with the mid group preseason doesn’t mean he will be stationed there full time.

Jury still out for me on Heeney because Syd play such a team orientated game. And likelihood of Franklin playing every game is doubtful as is Papely’s potential durability this season. And the much spoken about move of Mills to full time mid.

For me, De Goey or Treloar at this stage but they both have their issues also. Bring on round 1.

  5. Good points T- Rex . My issue with Heeney has also been his durability in the past but seems to have had an injury free pre season . Still prefer Heeney to Martin and Trealor given injury sustained to Martin late last year and Trealor’s durability.

    1. Agreed PBuzz.

I have De Goey at M2 ATM but and he didn’t set the world on fire (scoring wise) today). I reckon he has huge potential to consistently go big each week.

Heeney is making a bloody good case to be picked today though. Like GD – I just hope the Syd forward line solidifies come round 1.

      1. As a Collingwood fan i’d love Degoey to star but still needs to be a consistent performer week in week out . Contract year and past indiscretions may be the motivation he needs .
Good luck in your final choice

    Isaac Heeney 76
    Callum Mills 67
    Jack Ziebell 64
    Dylan Stephens 51
    Jason Horne-Francis 50
    Jake Lloyd 47

    1. lol. I’ve already got too many Swans in my team, but what the hell, one more won’t hurt.

      Welcome to the Champs, Dylan.

        1. Yep, same. Heeney, Lloyd, McCartin and now Stephens.

I am tempted to go Lloyd to Whitfield though, that extra 80K is going to be useful with the impending cowpocalypse

          1. Yeah Chillo..

I’m desperate to hold onto 4 uber mids with Berry at M5.
            JHF / Daicos/ Ward / Stephens. MacDonald . long.

The cows ( at least the cheap ones ) are looking dire. We may have to pay up for bench rookies ..

            Something has to give.

      1. Moved on ball in the last 5 minutes of that quarter, yeah. 2x CBAs and up to stoppages.

Scores well anywhere when fit, just really want that MID role to materialize.

Hopefully the Swans key FWD stocks are replenished come Round 1.

  7. Patty McCartin might be worth the risk down back with the way the Def rookies are looking right now.

      1. Yep same here FT, this I popped him in after the last practice games with a mix of other rooks dropping off the list and the scarcity of any others who look like they are locked in for round 1.

Hopefully he keeps the floating back role that be seems to be playing.

As long as he stays fit he has the style of game to score ok in that role

      2. Hey FT & Jam,

Hoping O’Driscoll can cement a spot with Freo – $34k less and currently D7 for me. Got Sinn at D6 ATM, same price as McCartin.

Thoughts on JS for McCartin v Sinn v O’Driscoll?

        1. I was keen on O’Driscoll, but with him missing today’s game has warning bells ringing loudly.

Was only named as an emergency.

          1. CT and T Rex.

Its with a heavy heart I have had to drop O’Driscoll.

He will get a game at some stage this year. It seems Brodie is ahead of him 🙁

I have Gibcus and Sinn D5-6

            McCartin and Rachelle F5-6

        2. T-Rex I’m also actually a little concerned about Sinn’s JS after only playing a half yesterday. Came on late and did some nice things but doesn’t fill with confidence of a round 1 berth in a team vying for top 4 again.
He sits D5 for me at the moment but I’m not confident he will be named round 1

          1. Gents,

Yep, my thinking as well for Sinn. I brought in Gibcus at D5 yesterday and likely to replace Sinn with McCartin at D6.

The D bench is a worry with few likely starters.

Got Rachelle at F5 and Durdin or Macginess (Haw) at F6. Again F bench is a worry.

Just need a couple of low priced rookies to materialise. Too many potential non playing bench rookies ATM.

    1. Lloyd is taking the piss. He is not in defence. Playing on the wing, running fwd..don’t read anything on this game. He is letting the kids have a run

  8. Anyone considering Mills?! Seeing Him and Josh Kelly today makes it a bit tempting to go for a cheaper premo to fit in all these expensive rookies. I know it’s a trap (Kelly, not Mills), but it’s tempting

  9. On another note no Hollands named for Gold Coast tomorrow which is a shame as his availability as a rookie forward could have helped solidify backline rookie shortage with an extra premium down back

  10. Final Supercoach Scores

    Justin McInerney 127
    Isaac Heeney 113
    James Rowbottom 110
    Tristan Xerri 96
    Jason Horne-Francis 86
    Jake Lloyd 83
    Paddy McCartin 74
    Dylan Stephens 63

  11. Heeney knocks out 113 and everyone’s scrambling to get him out of their team due to role.

    10

    1. Wild, huh? Fitness is much more important than role for Heeney. He’s had multiple seasons of averaging 90+ as a full time forward. If he can stay on the field, then extra midfield time is just the icing on the cake.

  12. Looks like the Lizard will be taking Dawsons role a lazy 19 kicks, 9hballs, 5mks and almost 600 metres gained in 80% TOG for an attractive 115 in SC @325k he could make 150k just as fast as any of high priced rookies
