Captaincy Candidates – Round 8

Captaincy Candidates

Zerrett v North

L3 v North: 94, 96, 137 (109 avg.)

L3 @ MRVL: 106, 74, 145 (108 avg.)

L3 MID v North: 162, 171, 126 (153 avg.)

He’s been a little flat over the last fortnight but really should rip into the Roos for 120+.

Xerri v Dons

L3 v Dons: 96, 70, 38 (68 avg.)

L3 @ MRVL: 144, 94, 136 (125 avg.)

L3 RUC v Dons: 125, 141, 145 (137 avg.)

Although he’ll be honorable in the HOs, Goldy will get absolutely put into a furnace by Xerri. Xerri will go unmatched ATG for 140.

Sinclair v Dockers

L3 v Dockers: 110, 104, 114 (109 avg.)

L3 @ MRVL: 99, 70, 162 (110 avg.)

L3 DEF v Dockers: 100, 116, 103 (106 avg.)

Due for a solid ton as the Saints look to finally respond against a sketchy on the road Dockers side.

Daicos v Cats

L3 v Cats: 89, 129, 91 (103 avg.)

L3 @ MCG: 125, 94, 125 (115 avg.)

L3 MID v Cats: 103, 134, 60 (99 avg.)

Daicos is an inclusion every week. Ducks and weaves out of tags, poor match ups and unfavourable history. On the money for 125.

Gawn v Eagles

L3 v Eagles: 100, 109, 73 (94 avg.)

L3 @ OS: 109, 114, 73 (99 avg.)

L3 RUC v Eagles: 161, 105, 118 (128 avg.)

Watch sheets as to whether the Eagles deploy two rucks against Maxxy, which the previous Eagles coaching panel had a penchant for. In a square match up, Maxxy will be closer to 200 than 100 this week.

Smoky Picks

Dogs v Port

Not getting into Butters and Bont as coaches were only able to acquire them recently and thus are at low ownership. If you think they warranted the steep 600k price tags then they should of course be in your calculations. Both sides are open contest midfields.

Hewett v Crows

L3 v Crows: 105, 65, 83 (84 avg.)

L3 @ AO: 132, 66, 103 (100 avg.)

L3 MID v Crows: 157, 117, 147 (140 avg.)

Love the Crows as a midfield match up and Hewett is just having a gorgeously understated year. A lock for 130.

Petracca v Eagles

L3 v Eagles: 87, 103, 136 (109 avg.)

L3 @ OS: 87, 103, 134 (108 avg.)

L3 MID v Eagles: 100, 106, 132 (113 avg.)

Despite an ailing contested profile and persistent use issues, Petracca should salute again this week for 120+ as many move to get the likely Top 6 FWD in.

Newcombe v Tigers

L3 v Tigers: 162, 122, 77 (120 avg.)

L3 @ MCG: 134, 149, 81 (121 avg.)

L3 MID v Tigers: 129, 130, 155 (138 avg.)

Uninspiring in a casual win last week, however the Tigers at the G presents as a far more favourable match up for Newcombe. Solid for 120.

Steer Clear

Brayshaw v Saints

L3 v Saints: 120, 70, 189 (126 avg.)

L3 @ MRVL: 73, 120, 123 (105 avg.)

L3 MID v Saints: 139, 159, 113 (137 avg.)

The strength of his form will now warrant a tag ahead of Serong and he’s already rated by Ross. Think we thank him for his service thus far and give him a pass.

Verdict

VC Max to guarantee a look at his score. That’s absolutely the move if you don’t have Zerrett, Xerri or Hewett, who round out the rest of this week’s top flight.

I, however, do not have a loop past Saturday afternoon. So it’ll be straight C Max and maybe a dick around VC on Rankine.

  1. VC on Gawn leaves a very limited C option and also a loophole because of the game times, I will try VC Gawn with C Neale and hoping will not need Neales score

    • It does but I prefer it just so you can guarantee a look at Max.

Early VC on someone who isn’t Hewett, Zerrett, Xerri and you could be left with an awkward ass 120~ – what do you do then?

  2. Thoughts on Zerret, Sheezel, Serong or Neale? Gawn would be VC or C but which of the other 4 is a viable option for the alternative. Zerret and serong not at usual standards, Sheezel inconsistant and Neale who knows this year
