Small or Far Away, Father Dougal on Cows
Hi Everybody!
We have been arguing about what the subject should be for this week. So far, three different opinions, with no compromise. But, silver lining, since none of them really merit a long post, we’re just gonna do all three. One each of course!
Hi! All weeks, but maybe extra this week, when we look at our teams and are deciding what to do, try not to think about what you have done in the past. No thinking about how you got to where you are, just about where you are and what to do. Pretend you are looking at someone else’s team. We can get very locked into one way to look at something when we get all used to it. We can not trade someone in because we traded them out, or because they have not made as much cash as we want. But, what really mattes is doing what makes sense from where you are.
So for me From the Rules of Cow-quisition: – Rule Number Five: “Money is gold, trades are oxygen, and downgrade targets are platinum. Never waste a downgrade target by starting with him on your bench.”
This season we are way short of downgrade targets. I expect that close to enough will come along. I do not expect to get many extras. When a good one comes along, like Sam Hayes, for sure use him. Not saying jump on dodgy ones, but we need to take the few good ones that show up.
I just want to remind people that luck happens. There is a lot of luck in Sports and in Supercoach. Who gets hurt when, and just….stuff….even players not getting hurt. Missing or making a big goal. The margins between having an ok season, a good season, or a great season are not really that big. When stuff gets frustrating, just have a pumpkin seed and a beer, keep going, and hope that luck turns.
Defenders
Noah Answerth: And now a 41. Hope nobody still owns him. At least he can’t go too much farther down. I think.
Jake Bowey: If you still own him he looks like a hold for longer.
Heath Chapman: Did not play
Sam De Koning: Still burning slowly.
Josh Gibcus: Not only played but tonned up! Looks like he goes in two more rounds unless he somehow keeps scoring well.
Mitchell Hinge: Did not play
Patrick McCartin: Bad timing for the 44. Likely to miss with concussion if I remember right. Could certainly make more but not fast now.
Nathan O’Driscoll:
Darn it I said “No Jinx”! Still gonna make money for at least one more week. Could go right back to tons. Could.
Midfielders
Jarrod Berry: Will probably make a little more, but not looking like he will make a lot more. Could go anytime, although he is scoring well enough it is hard to see him as “the player most in need of going” on most teams.
Jye Caldwell: Chugging away making more money. Not fast anymore, but steady. No rush to trade out. Is slowing down but could change that any time.
Nick Daicos: Has some money to make and now can play in defense. No rush at all to trade out.
Thomson Dow: That 12 is a disaster. Trade him before he plays again. Or, plan to hold for a loooong time.
Jason Horne-Francis: If you hold him until his bye odds are he makes non-trivial more cash. Or trade him right now.
Brady Hough: Did not play
Dylan Stephens: Did not play
Josh Ward: He is at least making some cash. A little. Very little.
Rucks
Hugh Dixon: Did not play
Jack Hayes: Out for the season. Damn and damn again.
Tristan Xerri: Likely to make more cash and capable of a lot more with a good score.
Forwards
Will Brodie: Pretty sure he is a keeper at this point.
Charlie Curnow: Might be ready to cull at the beginning of R9, but could put up another ton and extend that.
Jade Gresham: Cheap Gun. Also may need to go as a Gun and non-cow. Kudos to those who started with him.
Connor MacDonald: Sigh.
Finn Maginness: Sigh
Nicholas Martin: Lots more cash to make.
Jackson Mead: Appears to be a Spud-boy, which is probably why he did not play.
Patrick Naish: Seems to be going ok. Not much more to say.
Josh Rachele: Ton bad bad, ton bad bad,….? Trade now or hold waiting for his next ton.
Hugo Ralphsmith: Did not play
Please let me know if I missed someone or messed something up.
Dodgy Advice:
Need a cheap defender who is better than the 60 scoring rookies? Luke McDonald? Costs $402,900. Average of 89, but seems to be playing well recently. Low cost per point expected. Could end up a blah D6 or a good D6. But probably 30+ points a week better than a lot of the defensive cows.

I am time zonally challenged. When Cow Talk goes live, I’m probably asleep so replies may take a while.
