Poll: Trades, Boosts & Byes

Written by Gunboat Diplomacy on April 27 2022

With all the carnage, chopping, changing and moves, many coaches (myself included) can lose sight of their bye structure and burn far too many trades early. Here’s a quick poll to see where everyone’s at in terms of trades, boosts and byes.

After this week, how many trades will you have left?

  1. Thanks GD – Good poll!

And for everyone’s pleasure – the updated Bye Planners will be sent through later tonight ready to be uploaded to the site by the lads when they can fit them!

Prices, BE’s, games played, points and DPP status all updated as of end of round 6.
So stay tuned to the site over the next day or so if they help your overall planning!!

    1. Thanks, Macca. Right on cue as it’s probably about to time to start properly thinking about our bye structures.

We’ll schedule it for early next week. Don’t want it to get buried in the chaos of Thursday and Friday posts and news!

  2. With the poll question “How many premos do you have with the Round 12 bye?” just to clarify what you are asking –
    1) how many premo’s will you have available to play in R12
    or
    2) how many premo’s will you have missing

It could be read either way, and depending on how coaches interpret it, there will be 2 very different answers…..sorry for the confusion!

It’s just that I went to answer 3 for R12- as I will have Short, Steele & Cripps missing (so I have 3 premos with the R12 bye), yet the most responses was for 7. However if I read it as to how many premos will I have playing for R12, it would be 7 – but I’d already voted 3.

    1. Lol. You’re coming in with the 200 IQ plays, Lisa!

Yeah, it just means how many premos are out for you during that bye.

    1. I try to go in with slightly more later Bye Premos.

EG if you have 18 keepers at R11 the ideal ratio would be

      R12: 5 missing
      R13: 6 missing
      R14: 7 missing

      I’m planning for..
R12: Missing.. Short, Hewett , Whitt, Cripps ,Butters , Cogs.
R13 Missing, Macrea, Miller, Baz, Dunkley.plus one or two upgrades.
R14 Missing. Sicily , Ryan, Neale , Oliver, Gawn , Brodie.

      Best laid plans eh ?

  3. I just try to select 4 missing premos from each bye at the start. Or 8 playing premos for a byes.
    Then evenly add to that.
Using the bye guide on the actual supercoach team page, try to keep it as close to 10-10-10 as possible when trading.
As byes approach deal with non playing rookies to get up to 20 playing players per round.

    1. Ideally, you’d want to have it closer to 12-10-8 playing, as the players you bring in for the 2nd and 3rd bye rounds should have already had their bye, meaning you have a bit stronger of a team over all three rounds. But in practice, 2 guys get rested, 3 get injured, and your 4 remaining on-field rookies get dropped, leaving you with 10-8-6.

  4. Not really looking at beys this year as the more favoured premos are in stacked byes looks like most people will have the same issue.

        1. I’m extremely impressed at your ability and restraint in not having used any boosts thus far!! Amazing! It means you will come home like a freight train … and when many are running low later, with inevitable injuries and “GS” raring its ugly head, you will be well placed … regretting pushing that “extra” button a couple of times already!! But some forced!

          Until our next battle!
