Game Chat – Adelaide v Fremantle

Written by Father Dougal on July 5 2020

Where and when: Sunday 4th July at 1:05pm (AEST) at Metricon Stadium

Last time they met: Rd 7, 2019: Adelaide 7.9 (51) defeated  Fremantle 5.4 (34)

What it means for the Dockers: Two winless teams enter, one winless team leaves. The Dockers hope it isn’t them.

What it means for the Crows: Two winless teams enter, one winless team leaves. The Crows hope it isn’t them.

Supercoach Watch:

Fremantle: Sturt, Hill, and Darcy. Mostly Hill and Sturt, since they are relevant cows.

Adelaide: Any manager who has a trade to spare for dealing with Laird is doing well indeed.  . Doedee did poorly in the wrt last week and his owners are really hoping for another up week after his down week.

Father Dougal’s Watch: Serong – Where does he play, how does he score? Who ends the match with a sad, the managers who brought him in or the ones that didn’t?

Father Dougal’s Tip: Wow, this is a tough one. The first AFL match on in prime time in the USA, and they picked this one? Both teams are bad. Really bad. You just won’t believe how vastly hugely mind-bogglingly bad they are. I mean, you may think it’s a long way down the road to the wooden spoon, but that’s just peanuts to the 2020 Dockers and Crows. Yes one of them has to win. Or do they…? A draw? I can’t tip a draw, but, well I can but that’s like cheating. I think the Dockers without Fyfe are still just a bit less bad than the Crows. Fremantle by 3.

    1. Excellent, means Sturt is playing which means I and probably a lot of other coaches avoid a donut….

      1. FREMANTLE LATE CHANGE

Fremantle have made a really late change as Travis Colyer is out due to illness and is replaced in the selected team by Taylin Duman.

  1. Brought Hill in this round. Had an explosive first quarter last week, hopefully he can carry it through four quarters today.

    1. Hasn’t touched it in the second though. Need him to work his way back into it, cmon.

  2. Tag working well on Walters. Only 1 touch halfway through the 2nd and that touch was a goal

  3. Same deal as last week for Hill; started strong then fizzled out in the second. Ugh.

  5. Read an interesting article today regarding Adelaides use of a “motivational company” a couple of years ago – they need a rocket and the “company” need porking if what they did to the players is true – no wonder the club has been dysfunctional

  6. Doedee does my head in, was in my trade plans for next week with 2 scores under 50 and one 110+, is going to hit 110 again! The inconsistency kills me but i guess thanks for the cash generation of the next couple weeks. A weird one who just confuses me at a very awkward price

  7. Phew !

    Breakout game for Brayshaw.
He should crack 150 with scaling.
Well done to those that held him.

Laird back to his solid best.
Doedee doing the yo yo thing.

Mixed bag with the Hill and the Freo kids, with Sturt the standout.

Nice to the hear the song. it’s been ages 😉

    1. Random thoughts:

Doedee by far BOG for the Crows. Crouch brothers as usual got plenty of it with little impact
Will Hamill looks an exciting sort, will be very useful if he keeps developing
Brayshaw and Cerra really enjoyed the Fyfeless midfield, not sure what the impact will be when he returns
Sonny Walters was tagged by Keays, struggled most of the day but charged home in the final term
Hill actually played an accountable defensive role and did it pretty well, hurt his scoring though
Serong spent a lot of time sitting down
