Game Chat – Brisbane V Gold Coast

Written by MJ on April 16 2016

Venue: GABBA, Saturday 4.35pm

Last time: R19, 2015, Gold Coast Suns 17.12 (114) d Brisbane Lions 14.16 (100) at the Gabba

Best SC Scorers from last game:

  • Brisbane: Zorko 134, Robinson 123, Rockliff 115
  • Gold Coast: Hall 150 (!!!), Lynch 146, Matera 101

In/Out:

Brisbane

  • In: Rich
  • Out: Evans (Omitted)

Gold Coast

  • In: Miller, Brooksby, Ah Chee
  • Out: Thompson (Ankle), McKenzie (Nose), Matera (Omitted)

Game Notes: The Q-Clash always promises to be a fiery event, which game isn’t when Robbo’s involved?! There are nearly too many SC relevant players to keep up with in this match, with Martin, Robinson, Zorko, Rich, Ablett, Hall, Lonergan and Davis fronting up for a lot of sides today.

The last time they met, Aaron Hall collected 28 disposals and 150 SuperCoach points. The Suns have been victorious in three of the last four against the Lions and it’s difficult to envisage that trend bucking here.

Then again, anything can happen in derbies, so we can’t rule anything out.

MJโ€™s tip: Suns by 29

While we do our best to update posts with end of quarter scores, we arenโ€™t always online so if you have access to the scores and see they havenโ€™t gone into the Comments section of this post, the Community would love it if you could help us out.

    1. ahhh Chonks, always the best with the scores mate!! Much prefer yours over the ones that do not provide the actual game scores each quarter (for those of us that cannot see the matches on TV!!)

      Champion effort as always mate!!

      1. If you can use your phone to check the sc scores, you can check the footy scores too mate ๐Ÿ˜‰

All quarter time score updates are good updates

        1. don’t do that either mate … some people have other things to be doing like sport / family life etc … that’s the beauty of this site, it gives everything in the one place so you don’t need to go to other sites / forums thanks to the efforts of those that run it and the community that offer helpful posts and stats / data.

  2. How does lonergan go backwards (28 to 27) after having a mark a free for and a couple kicks. How they score blows my mind

  3. Wow! Stefan Martin poleaxed by May!! He’s done for the day, and May is probably done for the next month.

      1. Never mind Supercoach (first time I’ve said that this year), that was ugly and dangerous and May has a bad record.

Gone for 5-6. Straight to tribunal on Monday.

        1. He got 3 for the hit on Rockliff last year. This one is 4 week minimum. Just hope Martin doesn’t miss too long

          1. I haven’t seen this one but May was very unlucky to get three last year. He and Rockliff were running the same direction. A good bump that had devastating effects due to height difference

            0

            1
          2. May ran past the ball, hopped just before impact to give himself the height, put his shoulder out in front and bang, straight into Martin’s jaw/cheekbone. It was nasty. May should get min 5 weeks for that.

Martin is awake now though and not going to hospital so mustn’t be anything broken. Very lucky!

      1. That ok HH, we both have him. I feel for Martin though, he won’t remember this Q-clash and hopefully hasnโ€™t broken his jaw.

      1. Yep noticed that little push as well, I think it was more Gaz getting out of the way than pushing martin in. Bloody Ugly hit and hope goes for 6.

        1. Just watched the hit after reading about it here and on fb. Not as bad as some of the comments made it sound IMO. 2-3 weeks, up to 3-4 cause of a bad record.

          1

          9
          1. Respectfully disagree RB. The precedent has been set – if you ignore the ball to bump and make high contact, you’re in trouble. With his record, anything less than a month is a disgrace. Real potential for serious injury has to count for something

          2. He jumped, had no eyes for the ball and knocked Martin out.

I hope I never see what you rate as ‘bad’ RB!

Last year he should have gotten off in the Rocky incident, this year 4 minimum but likely 5.

    1. I’m not watching the game but I have a feeling Leppitsch is playing silly bugger again and has moved Zorko out of the guts.

  5. Guys, I only need one trade to go from Greene (via DPP swing with Adams) to get in Laird or Johannisen. Worth it, or persist with Greene for longer?

Means my Forwards then look like:

Hall, Barlow, Adams, Kerridge, B.Kennedy, AMT (Papley, McCarthy)

And my Defenders then look like:

Houli, Shaw, Laird/Johannisen, Bartel, Weitering, Dea (Brown, Hartley)

Too fraught with danger in terms of structures?

  8. Monster quarter from Zorko. +55SC!

R.Davis looking like a poor cashcow option. At this rate he looks like he’s barely going to reach 250K.
J.Lonergan also looking iffy. Might struggle to reach his BE this game.

        1. Davis had a good first quarter. Hasn’t seen it since. My decision to loophole Menadue and put Davis on the field appears to have backfired…

Game Chat – Brisbane v Gold Coast

Written by Thommo on August 8 2015

Brisbane’s disappointing season has taken a turn for the worst with the loss of Dayne Beams to injury. Sitting last on the ladder, the Lions will have few better chances to improve their position than against a Gold Coast side missing Gary Ablett.

That will not be an easy task after the Suns drew with the red-hot Eagles last week. After a shocking year on and off the field, the Suns are showing some good signs for the future and will expect to win the Q-clash today.

Thommo’s tip: Gold Coast by 40 points.

  2. Off topic but would like the community’s opinion:
Currently got Knight’s 54 as Emergency for Fyfe. In an Elim but also want as high as possible in the overall rankings. 2 trades left

    T/U: Keep Knight’s score
    T/D: Fyfe – Hannebery

  3. Craziest, ballsiest (dumbest) move of the season for me.

    Out: Beams
    In: Stanton

Just couldn’t ignore his scoring of late.

Can’t believe that my SC season has come down to the performance of Stanton over the next month of footy.

I eagerly await your thumbs down.
